Spent time in rehab because I needed IV medicine. Nursing staff took great care of me. Therapy was outstanding. I was surprised how good the food was. Hope to never need to return because I stay well but if I do, I know I'm going here again.
I was at Shannendell two times. Once for rehab for a total knee replacement. The other was for major back surgeries. Both surgeries were necessary. Shannondell was my first pick both times.
The nursing staff, including the CNA'S. The doctors,the entire medical staff treated me with the most excellent of care. The dietary staff did an excellent job with the meals. And very careful with restrictions. The food was excellent.

I was here for two and a half days following a knee replacement. It is not patient focused but instead focused on what is good for staff. On the day of my discharge, I had PT at 6:30 am and taken downstairs for the rest at 6:50 am. This consisted of watching me stand and fold linen for 10 minutes. I refused and asked I be taken to my room which I was. Most of the physical therapists are very good but again focus on what you can accomplish in a short time period. It is never about what is good for the patient. The nursing staff is fair and most of the time you are left to get things on your own. For pain med, the minimum wait is a half hour.
Don't let the beautiful decor and pricey cost fool you. My 90-year-old father was here for six months after breaking a hip, and there were many problems. The aides and nurses treated him well, but when he asked for things he frequently didn't get them. The dining experience was truly awful - he was ignored for long periods, the food was cold, he didn't get what he asked for, you name it. It was so bad he finally started avoiding it and we, his children brought him food to eat in his room. The laundry was always screwing up his clothing even though each item was meticulously marked with his name and room number. His wallet was stolen from his room when his sheets were being changed. Discussions with administration fell on deaf ears. Worst of all, when he passed away in his room, there was absolutely no contact from The Meadows whatsoever after his death - no acknowledgement, not a card, not even a form letter - just a bill. Callous, incompetent and insensitive. Go elsewhere.
My Mom moved to an apartment in Shannondell in 2004. Two years ago,at the age of 100,she moved into personal care in the Meadows.We had a rough start,as she missed her cat,but,she has,and continues to,enjoy every day. She has bonded well with the staff and other residents. She has never complained about anything. She goes to all of the activities and enjoys it all. We visit weekly and she slots us an hour before she has an activity she wants to attend!! She considers the staff,and the many friends she has there,her family. She will be 102 in September.She is happy and well taken care of.This is what s important.
It s truly unfortunate how the administrators treat the employees.
Worst care I have ever seen! Staff asks you what you need and they never come back. This is my mothers second time in there for knee replacement. They were ok the first time so we thought give them another shot, big mistake. The care has gone downhill since September of 2016. If she ever needs rehab again I will never even think about taking her there. Their thought process is give them pain meds to keep them quiet! She can not bend her leg or stand up because there is something more than just pain going on in the leg and they just throw pills at her. The meadows sucks! Do not ever go if you need in-patient rehab look elsewhere.
