The Loose Caboose Coffee Company Review

What dreadful service! We went to this miserable little place on a Sunday. After waiting to be seated I explained we were hoping to get something quick and easy as my daughter was performing at the Entertainment Centre in an hour and a half and was there anything they did that might suit. I was informed that "everyone here is a busy person" which I should have taken as a sign. We sat down and ordered a coffee (yuk) and juice that came quickly. We then waited 30 minutes without our order being taken so paid for the drinks and left. Don't bother going there. Ever.

The waiting time in Loose Caboose is very long. We waited 50min for our food. The communication between customers and staff pretty much non existent. We weren't informed about the waiting time until after we already ordered our food n drinks. After 40min of our waiting I met with reply that our food can be plated any min now when asked how much longer still. There's no heaters outside and hungry and cold customer is an unhappy one.
They are not pet friendly as our dog wasn't allowed on the deck of the restaurant. We were offered to tie him up to a pole outside without even offer of any water.
Food was ok, but defo not worth the wait.

Overpriced, stale food (pastries) and deplorable rude service - what more do you want from a local cafe. NB ironic that many high reviews are all 'local guides' point of fact. Save your money! Updated August 2020 - ran out of coffee desperate went and bought to foul tasting bitter coffees provided with the most unfriendly of service. Avoid!

Food is amazing but some staff can be quiet forward, demanding you to move to make more room for other people when you are in the middle of eating etc.

Fantastic food and great coffee. The service was attentive, friendly and quick. The inside of cafe is quite small, so I imagine it could get quite noisy in there sometimes, but it wasn't a problem. Free sparkling water was a cool novelty! Would definitely recommend for bunch.

Coffee was really good. I am vegan so had to ask for some menu modifications. I had smashed avo and wanted tomato instead of egg. Had to pay extra so asked for egg to be given to someone else as I was paying for it anyway. ...

Arrived early on a weekday, we missed the morning rush and enjoyed a leisurely breakfast. Coffee and juice were great, not to mention the offering sparkling water available.

Food itself was good. Both eggs were overcooked a little.

Delicious! We got the eggs benny's and the farmers bowl and both were delicious!! Coffee was great as well. Highly recommend

Great food. Great service. They have blankets to keep you warm outside.

The cafe is full of loud, out-dated music, the food was slow to arrive for a small meal, and there was little variety in the menu. Worst of all, you can't even sit by the trains, one of the biggest draws to this cafe.

The conductors lunch has food that a conductor would have never known about. If your going to make a conductors lunch, make it historically accurate.

Prices and food are very good. Coffee hits the spot. The look of the cafe is really very well done.

One of the most amazing cafes I've been too! They are so thoughtful and also have incredible coffee!! Every time I've been there, the service I get is second to none!! Thank you for always looking after my friends and I every time we come. We also heard about the amazing birthday bash you put on for one of our friends Ben Lynch - heart felt thing you did there team!

Staff pleasant, food nice, coffee tasteless and cold. Thought it might be because of the mug sized order so went in for another, regular this time and requested a hot coffee. No such luck. So I'm going for a 'it's OK'. When there are now so many great cafes in Adelaide, don't think I'll be back.

The crunchy corn flake french toast tastes as good as it looks!! Such a cute location and definitely a great spot to take your partner or meeting up your gals!!

Will try the food next time but dropped in for coffees today. Coffee tasted like instant coffee. Lacked imagination and the cups had grey "steel wool" like skuff marks in the bottom. Definite no-no. The place was cold. Went there for the fireplace. Only 2 tables have access to the fireplace and both had reserved signs on them and no customers on them. Layout needs a rethink and turn on the A/C to warm the place up. Next time we try the food.

Excellent food and service. Never been disappointed yet.. Still can't wait to go back.

Although it was rush hour, I was extremely happy with the service time and the food was excellent. Poached eggs were really really nice.

Experience may vary but mine was a 5 Star.

Still got surprised with the food although they changed the menu. Lovely Egg Benedict n Chili Crab Scramble. Cannot be more happy that they are open on Public Holiday!!

Delicious Food, amazing coffee and vibey atmosphere. Love this place!

So this is my first Google review and thought being a local I d make a review on here. Arrived when it wasn t too busy and were seated. Both myself and my partner thought the food was beautiful but agreed the customer service really....really needs some work! Staff made it feel like it was an inconvenience to serve us and wouldn t even acknowledge me when I was asking for pepper.
During our meal my partner ordered coffee and took far too long...to the point where we gave up and went to pay and were still charged By the lady who seemed rude and had to get it take away meanwhile we watched staff clearing tables just to get more people in.
Almost spent $100 on breakfast and it s safe to say won t be back and it s a shame because the food really was good!

If going for coffee only don't bother you will not be welcomed

Very tasty and fresh food! Unique brunch menu. Only thing to mention would be didn't see a kids menu for my 2 year old niece so made do with chips. But cool little venue!

Fantastic Steak Sandwich with GF bread , even questioned if i could have the chips (which have gluten , i can't) .

The lady closing today refused to make a juice because it would cause to much mess and they were packing up. It was 3pm and they don t close until 4.. she was also unwelcoming and seemed annoyed we had rocked up for coffee an hour before she wanted to close. Very disappointing.

This should be a funky, cool and relaxing hangout with its unique location and ready access to the free tram nearby (short walk from Entertainment centre stop). Unfortunately the air conditioning doesn't seem to be sufficient for the space, and staff always seem in a hurry to close up.
Perhaps they are more suited and friendly toward early morning to late breakfast crew in winter, and not keen for 'late lunchers' such as myself.

Crunchy kale on my Eggs Benedict with slow cooked pork... yummy!!! But this place can be a bit slow when the place is busy... waited almost 20 minutes for my food but it s worth it...

Coffee was for some unknown reason served in a scientific beaker.... to this day it confounds me as to why? Food was overpriced

Great breakfast spot! Lovely ambiance in this old train station that has been converted to a cafe. Food is good and the coffee is excellent. Friendly staff and good service. They do get pretty busy on weekends so it is best to get in early.

I have dined at loose caboose on many occasions, an on every occasion i was always satisfied with quality of the food and the produce.

The menu options, prepairation and service time are all above average.

Service on the other hand was not satisfactory, i have found some staff, particularly the much older dark long haired manager/supervising female to be quite rude and impertinent. There is an underlying attitude which i could only describe as menopausal...

I found it to be rather unpleasant, and would rather the depression of her own life be left at the door while i enjoy my breakfast without contemplating suicide.

Also the cakes and biscuits displayed on presentation on the counter by the register look amazing, unfortunately i have never had the courage to try one, after noticing the are left uncovered and unprotected as dozens of people on there daily commute sneeze, cough, and breathe all over these items as they pay for there coffees or meals.

And as if this was not enough of a distraction the insects mating on the produce was certainly a deal breaker for me, so please cover the food, or make use of ur lovely presentation cabinets, as opposed to encouraging the global spread of ebola.

Was one of my favorites in the past, today however, it was slow service, and Not at capacity, my meal was brought out and had to go back for correction. Overall disappointed.

It has a lot of dairy and gluten-free options. A noisy place so dont go for a quiet cup of coffee.

Great coffee with a comprehensive menu! Also have takeaway sandwich options and a few cakes. I very much recommend stopping by.

If you're white, highly recommend. If you're not, like me, don't go near there. Staff are pretty rude. They took white people orders first because they said they were taking orders on arrival order. Apparently they were referring to settlement to the country arrival. Giving 2 stars because the food and coffee are Ok, almost nice.

They have free sparkling water on tap!! It's a great little place right next to the train station that has a great selection of breakfast options! There s no WiFi here so make sure you can tether. #BeatTheGrind

Great food and drink options. Lots of healthy choices and creative dishes. Staff were very friendly and apologetic as the day we went it was very busy with 30 min wait for meals. On weekends prepare to wait for a table as well.

Fantastically different and comforting food. Coffee is lovely. The fire is warm and the ambience is fabulous. We love coming here anytime we can.

Brilliant setting, good food, ok prices. DONT order the French toast.

Poor, slow Service. Waited 10mins to be seated and all of the wait staff's favourite words were 'be with you in a sec' as they all constantly kept walking past us and the line up.
Told a wait staff we were ready to order, and this rude waiter responded with 'will be with you in a sec, I'll get someone to come over' took them 10mins after that to come take our order. We even tried to order at counter but was takeaway only. So after entering the establishment it took 30mins to get seated and order. Very rude older workers, short, brunette and a blonde in a ' conductor' shirt were member's of the wait staff who were very rude/assertive to most customers through the door. Food was great, attitude from certain wait staff was not.

Not a fan of the coffee. Disappointed that my favorite was taken off the menu. Was told it does change frequently to keep things different. Didn't work in my favor. Not high on my go to list now

Great decor and location, although felt my smashed avo toast was missing something. Perhaps it was the sourdough bread, which looked like it was sliced from a supermarket-style loaf in both shape and thickness. Didn't hit the spot for me.

The Loose Caboose is another old railway station building re-purposed into a lovely cafe. It has kept a lot of the charm these old buildings exuded.
The Loose Caboose has a great, healthy breakfast menu and sustainably sourced single origin coffee.
The day I visited for my morning cup of Joe was a little cold and inside they had a wonderfully warm fire burning. It wasn't long before I was as warm as toast!
If you zoom in on the photo I've supplied next to the coffee machine you'll notice some glassware standing tall that's for cold coffee for when our hot summer months arrive.
The coffee was nice, the atmosphere charming along with a great menu The Loose Caboose is well worth a visit.

The customer service is really bad. I ordered the Japanese fried chicken but the kimchi tasted not normal and not fresh. And I told the staff, he said check with the kitchen. However, there is no response at all. Really disappointed. The yogurt is nice.

Love this place... Awesome coffee and yummy food that is always unique and interesting. One of the best breaky/brunch places in Adelaide.
