The Lawns Hotel Review

Great place for food and an overnight stay. Only problem was the squeeky floor boards in the hallway and rooms. When people passed the door or moved around next door it was a bit noisy.

Hired the function room for an afternoon. The room was lovely and all the staff were really accommodating. Wouldn't hesitate to go back or hire the room again.

Great food and service, even if decor is a little bland

Food was very tasty but they could clean the window sill it was a but dusty and the bathroom smelled of damp and there was a rusty drain hole in the sink

First time in since lockdown. Covid precautions excellent, service to table spot on.!

Fantastic lunch , very delicious. Great social distancing . Staff very friendly. All around great experience and we will be back

Bad customer service mattress terrible rooms dirty and not clean bed made me itch!!
No help from staff when we said about room.
Only, apart from that s the way it is.
And they still take our money for other nights we are not staying.
After we ask for another room just said no!
The next morning they said they would call back.
not one phone call all day and no help. Poor poor customer service.
We only stayed one night but they charge for three nights.
I didn t mind paying for night we stayed but they would not give us our money back for the other nights.
What a let down!

Lovely hotel, the staff were really friendly and the breakfast was amazing. The only downside for me personally was that I could hear every noise from the adjoining room.

Bar staff very slow to serve you especially blondie.

Allways a good welcome, I love there Cappuccino, the premmises are clean, all thro.

Went for an evening meal as a party of 6. Had a fillet beef Wellington and loved it. Whole table was happy with their meals. Excellent food and fantastic service.

Nice place to go for a meal and a pint. Can get a little bit noisy at the weekend. Beer is always well kept.

Definitely drink there.

Our group of 12 enjoyed a variety of dishes from the Christmas menu (competively priced). Our waitress Elizabeth was jolly and obliging. We had an enjoyable evening, thank you also to Sam.

Absolutely great service and food stayed here with work and when I return i will be definitely booking back in here in future.

Excellent ..... we are currently laying on our bed in room 5 where the room decor is modern and tasteful for all age groups. Amenities in the room are more than adequate including a hair dryer and tea and coffee facilities. There is on site parking but if busy you could struggle to get a space . Our 3 course evening meal was exceptionally good with a fantastic cheese board and choice of 2 whiskeys. Good drink selection at bar includind real ales (limited whisky selection compared to drinks list ) . Good atmosphere at the bar excellent service from bar and waiting staff.
Central to many local attractions ranging from history to shopping . Calke abbey well worth a visit ( free for national trust members). Alvaston castle and local reservoirs also . Ignore poor reviews this place is well worth a stay.

Good hotel bar, occasionally has a really nice beer but generally good real ale. Better class of punter than other local establishments.

Had an offer off Groupon for a 'Sparkling cream tea and overnight stay' and have to say; I'm thoroughly impressed!
The evening meal was great too.
Staff were really friendly and helpful.

Can't recommend enough!

We actually visited here for the Chellerston folk club. It was our first time to the club and watched a band called The Trials of Cato. The band was fantastic and the club was too. Very intimate venue but didn't feel crushed. Limited parking but we managed fine. The bar was very busy but we were served swiftly. This didn't disrupt the club though and it all added up to an extremely enjoyable evening.

No hot water in the shower. Smell from the kitchen all day in the room. The rooms are super nice. The pub and dining room are completely dated.

Great evening staff- bar and chef- with organised and sensible arrangements in place for Covid 19 protection. Huge chicken kebab reasonably priced. Room fine but very warm although heating not on. Bathroom not fine. Shower not workable- jammed mixer valve. No one to be found and doors locked at 7.30am so no time for breakfast. Shame as otherwise fine for a 1 night stay.

Nice basic hotel, clean rooms friendly staff and a cracking gin menu

A good place to stay for a couple of nights but really no more, adequate facilities but bedrooms way too small for a double room. Bathroom the same size as my own at home so I'm used to it but anyone else if expecting more you wont get it! Friendly staff, an excellent choice on the menu for breakfast everything well cooked. On the whole not a bad place for a couple of nights and I would stay again but with less expectation.

Great little place, local haunt, great food, great service great atmosphere.

Rooms have zero sound proofing, you can hear conversations + toilets flushing and TV from 2 or 3 rooms away. Breakfast is good as long as you avoid the sausages, they have the weirdest taste and are far from pleasant.

Excellent, in almost every aspect. Rooms were lovely.Although ours was a a bit small (10) other rooms in our booking were bigger. The food was delicious and plentiful. Without exception every member of staff provided an excellent service. The hotel itself was full of atmosphere in it's presentation and in the restaurant, bar and garden. Highly recommend this lovely place. Xx

The hotel was excellant rooms clean and tidy very comfortable bed staff excellant the only drawback is the website which indicates breakfast included its only when you check in that its

only a continental breakfast and any cooked items from the menu I.e Full English are chargeable

Did just right a 30min peace on how amazing this place and staff are but Google kicked me out!
So just believe me when I say go here, stay here, eat lunch, dinner and breakfast here you want be disappointed! What a place, so nice! Thank you to Ben and all the staff for being so accommodating we will be back!

I would definitely recommend this hotel. The staff are all polite and helpful, nothing was a problem! The food is excellent in choice and quality. The room was very well presented with a large shower room. If I was one of those people looking for fault I'd be struggling!!congratulations to all those who work here and keep up the standards you have set. Thank you

Not the greatest hotel. It is above a pub and needs some urgent TLC. Breakfast was good and the ladies that served us were nice and helpful.

Very small car park I had a problem finding a space The staff were friendly and obliging. There seemed to be a lot of items missing from of the menu and considering that it was only lunch time so the choice was more limited than I would have expected.

Just stayed here for two nights on a group on, had a nice welcome & a lovely presented cream tea with added fresh strawberries, we had a nice comfortable room with plenty of sockets :-), I don't know what you have to do to make your towels that dirty you end up explaining that they were ok after you had scrubbed them to get them clean so you shouldn't have been charged to replace them & to mark the bath panel what were they doing ????, we found the staff very friendly very well mannered, we had four breakfasts in with the deal orange juice, cerial then a full English 2 sausage, 2 eggs, 2 bacon, grilled tomato, baked beans, mushrooms & plenty of toast & jam, the lady who served it couldn't have been more attentive better than a Hilton !!, all in all we had very nice stay indeed.

I was there for five minutes only in the function room. The event wasn't associated with the lawns itself. So I'm unable to pass comment on service etc

Not a pleasant experience for us today. My daughter booked a table for us for mothering sunday lunch , a total of 4 people. We didnt even stay for dessert as the tv above our table was turned on for the football match before the first More

The staff there were so lovely and helpful the only down fall is if your looking for something close to the town center may not be what your looking for, but it's a nice clean fresh place to stop

What a brilliant place this, was for a chilled weekend. Extremely polite and professional staff who were very attentive. The room was very clean and loved the hot power shower and very comfortable sleep. Food was awesome and the full English breakfast set us up for the day. covid regs adhered too which left us at ease throughout our mini break. Will definitely be back and can recommended the hotel without a doubt!

The food served at the lawns is exquisite for the low price. Though the avaliable drinks are on-par compared to the other local pubs the atmosphere of the bar area and friendly staff make it a pleasent place to drink. The inside is modern and stylish while maintaining a homely feel.

Always have a nice meal here, staff are very good. Steak and wine night is great. Extensive list of gins too! Cosy and friendly atmosphere!
