This place was such an incredible find. Even though it's advertised as vegetarian, almost everything on the menu could be made vegan. The Ruben was the best Ruben I've ever had, even from before I went vegan. We also had the eggplant Parmigiano and it was excellent. Their peach pie cooler smoothie is really like peach pie in a cup. Delicious. I wish I lived closer so I could try every thing on the menu!! Overall a fantastic experience, and a place everyone, omnivore or vegan, will love.

I wish I could give 10 stars out of 5. The food is one of the best plant-based restaurant food I've had around the country. The ingredients are the highest, freshest fruits and veggies. The menu is diverse. THE BLOODY MARYS ARE THE BEST and FRESHEST I've had anywhere hands down!! They are made in house with excellent ingredients. The setting is a bit casual and sometimes the waitresses have seemed annoyed to answer simple menu questions but that isn't even going to knock my opinion of this amazing place because the food makes up for all of it. The only menu item that wasn't good was the BBQ jackfruit burger-the BBQ sauce was too sour/vinegary. I recommend everything else! We will literally eat here twice+ a day whenever we are in Asheville. The US needs a Laughing Seed in every city please!

I found this place while googling vegetarian restaurants in Asheville. I was super excited to try it, but I felt bad because I was pretty sure my boyfriend wasn't going to like anything (he is NOT vegetarian lol). We told our server this was our first time eating there and she was very knowledgeable & explained pretty much everything on the menu. We ordered & received our food pretty quickly. We both LOVED the food! My boyfriend kept saying how good it was, he told the waitress how good it was...I was so happy! We've already decided what we're going to try next time we go! If they opened a restaurant where we live they would get all my money lol!

A solid 4+ for our first visit. Our server was great, I explained we were in a rush and she was very fast and accomodating, bringing our check with the meal and running it immediately upon getting the card. The food was great, the eggs on my crab Benedict weren't poached, but they were still appropriately soft yolks and the jackfruit crab cake was awesome. My wife devoured her raw zucchini manacotti, even my son loved it. He liked his dish, I thought it was a fantastic vegan version of bagel/lox, very good flavors and textures. My other son wasn't hot on the tofu scramble burrito, but no complaints on the quality or construction. Everything was great. We sat outside so I can't comment on the inside or bathrooms, but would expect similar quality and cleanliness.

Amazing vegetarian restaurant! It was a great feeling walking into this place and being able to eat anything on the menu! The cocktails are to die for and the mocktails aren't bad either. I recommend the Jessica Rabbit for a cocktail choice. The cauliflower crust pizza is phenomenal as an appetizer or a small entree. For something hearty and savory, the Farmer's Pie is awesome and is truly a vegetarian take on Shepherd's Pie. If you enjoy raw dishes, the Manicotti is one of the best versions of this dish I have ever had. Finally, the chai caramel cake will literally have you in a state of bliss! Overall, Laughing Seed is hands down one of the best vegetarian dining experiences I have ever had.

Very disappointing. I've never felt like such a burden to employees for simply arriving with a baby and a stroller. The first hostess was friendly and going to seat us outside, when a second lady came up and told her she can't do that and then said there's no room and the only option would be takeout. We went to the bar and ordered then waited over an hour for our food. The bartender said that's totally normal and expected so plan accordingly or try something else if you have limited time. My food was cold by the time I could find somewhere to eat it so I'll just leave it at that.

This place is very clean, and the food is fantastic. I love the cuisine here and I would go as far as to say it's my favorite restaurant in the United States. I have been to many vegan/vegetarian/gluten free restaurants and none of them can hold a candle to Laughing seed. Every employee treats their customers very well. Every time I am in Asheville, I eat here and no where else.

Ate there with my adult daughter and grandchildren ages 4 1/2 and 18 months on August 3rd my daughter's birthday. We came for lunch. We ordered $70 in food. Our 4 pakoras were runny inside and were returned. Our sandwiches tasted awful as did the mango ginger dessert. Blk bean soup and berry tea was good. Waitress never apologized for bad food. I have eaten there for 7 years and never had an experience like this.

Laughing Seed really served up a delicious meal at the end of my trip to Asheville. Everything on the menu is vegetarian, and most of it can also be made vegan, but don't turn yourself away thinking the food won't be feeling because the portions are large and because of the flavors and ingredient choices are really varied and uniquely done. I got the crab cakes and grits made out of jackfruit and succotash and thought it was one of the best meals I had had in a long time. They also sell North Carolina local beers which is great, and when we went there happened to be an amazing trumpet player (michaeljohnjazz.com) sitting across the street playing some tunes which really added a nice mood to our dinner. This restaurant is located on a smaller street in Asheville that's reminiscent of something you'd find in New Orleans or a European city which just made the entire dining experience cozy. I would definitely come back here!

If there was an option for zero stars they would be the main contender. Sat at the bar for 20 min with my family, only one other person at the approx 15 seater bar and no acknowledgement, no service, no apology even when we decided that the two bar staff were ignoring us. When we complained the response was sorry have a nice day! Unbelievable!

Will never attend this patronizing rude place again. I would avoid it also if you value your dignity.

One of the better healthy vegan dining options in Asheville that offers table service and outdoor seating. I highly recommend the Buddha Bowls that come with layers of fresh organic vegetables, grains and sprouts. We ate here a few times during my visit and had a great experience overall. I would not recommend the burger, however, I thought it was mushy and small which left me hungry compared to the bowls. We also tried their appetizer with nut cheeses and picked vegetables which was a bit pricey but tasty. What I appreciate most is that they offer very fresh healthy options, which is not always the case with popular vegan restaurants. It's easy to eat whole foods here :D

Best vegetarian/vegan restaurant where I've eaten to date. Everyone at our table got a different dish, and everyone was totally happy, including the two meat-eaters! Our server Chelsea was prompt and friendly, food was absolutely delicious, fresh, and served at proper temperature. My only lament is that I don't live closer. I highly recommend this place.

If you're vegetarian, vegan or gluten free, this is the place you must go! My husband and I were very happy to find something we could enjoy on the menu. Everything tasted great and I was so happy to have a gluten free pizza finally!

Cool atmosphere but really lacking in variety and the portions are insanely small. Also not the best customer service.. wont be coming back here, which is sad since its one of the only fully vegetarian resturaunts in Asheville.

Excellent food! The girls who greeted me when I walked in were so kind and sweet! I travel alot and travelled far from out of town to visit and had a planned vacay in Asheville and found this place by accident and loved it!!! Food great absolutely wonderful but there was a guy who worked there that was so rude to me!!! I ordered to go and my food was ready at the bar and the short guy with dark hair bartender guy working that night was so rude to me it was disgusting! I was tired from my trip new to town and he made me feel just feel so down and horrible inside with his sour attitude by the time I left there it ruined my experience. Not a good first impression and a let down right when I get to Asheville! That was my first place to go besides my hotel. The food was excellent but whoever that gut was working that night needs serious words or needs to be let go! I gave this place 5 stars because of the service from the girls when I walked in and the great food!

Different from the last time. We came about 5 months ago and I had one of the best vegan Reuben s I have tasted. Unfortunately, my excitement dwindled when I took a bite today for what I thought was going to be the same Reuben. This time there were caramelized onions with a strong garlic flavor that made the sandwich completely different and barely any sauerkraut. If that is the new norm I won t be getting the Reuben again. We also ordered a buffalo seitan sandwich that was ok. Maybe it was just an off day for the kitchen. The front of house was very accommodating since we had our small son and his stroller and we were seated close to the door and didn t have to go down a level.

Server at the bar was very nice. I was just looking for some small sides of fruit and ginger tea. My wife who had gotten ill on our trip at the hotel really enjoyed it. I picked up a cookie for myself on the way out. Nice local vegetarian friendly place.

LOVED this place. Our first time in Asheville and, after reading some Yelp reviews, we decided to give Laughing Seed a whirl and wow, are we glad we did! The place is super quaint and just plain beautiful at night. And the staff was friendly and have us some good recommendations. Our server, Brooke, educated us in the menu after hearing it was our first visit, which was great! And the food was AMAZING! So many options! I wanted to try everything on the menu. Went with the ramen and it was tasty! Definitely want to come back in the future!

This place is always a delight...everyone working here always seem to be happy to be here. They work hard to bring your food expediently, and boy is the food darn good! I'm not a vegetarian but love almost the entire menu.

Loved the service! The food was fantastic but still felt nutritious. Ate our meals in one sitting, which never usually happens, but it was too good to take home. We sat outside, but the whole atmosphere of the restaurant was very laid back and relaxed while still feeling upscale as the sun started to set.

Good food but took over a half an hour to get it. People after me were being served and the person I was eating with got hers in 10 minutes. One of the staff was a bit rude too, the other was quite nice. I will try it again.

Another great vegan option restaurant in Ashville. Tucked inside the downtown area on Wall St, I would suggest parking in the garage on Otis St because trying to find a parking spot on the street is like looking for a needle in a haystack. The patio area is small but very nice. Food was reasonably priced and the portion sizes were great. Drinks (alcoholic)were good but could have been watered down less. All in all a very good experience. My only suggestion would be to our waiter: pay closer attention to what your patrons have ordered so they don't have to remind you when they haven't received part of their order.

Delicious! So many vegan options! This was our first time there, and during their Sunday brunch. The potatoes were cooked to perfection, the seitan chicken and waffles were so filling and my boyfriend got the Mexican inspired brunch dish, which I will definitely be getting next time. So good! Cant wait to try more next time I'm in Asheville.

Been here two times now. During the first time, which was for dinner, service was good but food was below average (had a salad and cauliflower crust pizza which wasn't great tasting). Second time was a Sunday brunch in January. The food was above average (harmony bowl) but the service was bad. Got seated by a window in the back corner. The sun was hitting us and we didn't realize how hot it would get even though it was winter. Bad judgement on our part as well as the hostess'. As our food arrived, the guy waiting on us told we could move to a large booth away from sun. The move was very awkward as we were moving the food by ourselves not only without any help from the people working over there (they didn't offer to help either despite the fact that my wife was almost full term) but with a hostess telling us we should probably not move to the large booth give we were only a part of 2. It was also very frustrating due to the fact that I had to run about 6 times between the tables carefully hauling items one at a time on their congested floor, all the while avoiding slipping and spilling food/drinks on other patrons. The just above average food but the insensitive behavior, however momentary, left a bad taste in my mouth. Would think twice before coming here again.

QUALITY EVERYTHING. Take a few extra minutes to sit and relax and taste the food. The texture is spot on. Sit outside if you can and enjoy the weather. Their cocktails are prime. The curry, sandwiches, and apps are on point!

One of my favorite restaurants of all time. I always get the harmony bowl. The sauce is to die for. Hint: they sell it to take home as well. They have great outside seating that is very dog friendly. We were one of three tables with dogs. They brought water bowls out for the dogs. Service was quick and the prices are great.
