Wonderful school tucked away in the mountains. Some of the classes for particular programs tend to be timed poorly but it just means an extra semester at this amazing facility.
After a few years now, I am still impressed with classes over all. The administration on the other hand needs a reality check. They still held finals during a snow storm without notice or consideration to any of the students.

The beautiful campus, loving and dedicated faculty, peaceful atmosphere, and great academics make this school fantastic. My one disclaimer is that students tend to create a pretty quiet, studious environment and people clear out considerably on the weekends. It can get a bit quiet since it's a smaller school, but people are generally friendly.

My honest review, having been in multiple programs...

My honest review, having been in multiple programs at UNCA:

1. Programs -
a) Music tech - very hands-on, but the UNCA music program overall (students and faculty) is pretentious and anti-social.
b. Math/Statistics - great. The department genuinely cares about their students' success. The expertise in some profs lacks outside of their course material. Great research options!
c. Computer Science - lacks. Professors often uncommunicative and slow to grade, seems like they're not focused on their job as profs. There are one or two profs who genuinely care.
2. Student body - diverse and will make you tolerant of all kinds of people. There are many students immature and unwilling to have civil talk. Clubs/student orgs have little engagement.
3. Administration - corrupt. Claims to be accommodating, but never wants to do the paperwork. Says what brings in the most income with ill regard to effects on students.
4. Beautiful campus! Like none other.
5. Campus food - lacks options, but ok.

Very Pleasant, got my granddaughter all moved in for her last semester. Everyone was so helpful and nice. Everyone followed guidelines , wore mask and kept distance. All went well. Thank you UNC

I have struggled with homelessness as a college student, would live in dorm however there are no family dorms, so I must sacrifice security for education. It sucks there is no low-income, family, or emergency housing. One would think that someone would fix this to ensure students do their best with as little stress as possible. Other than that, beautiful campus where can forage for food, places to relax, nice gym/showers, and the free store is pretty awesome.

When I went here I was a homeless for a while sleeping in my car, but I managed to keep a 3.5 GPA. An instructor who teaches Computer Science there told me that I should cut my loses and quit engineering. She thought I didn't have the brains for it. I left UNCA because of discrimination I felt in the engineering department. I'm now doing great. I have a 4.0 GPA; I'm still in engineering, run my own tutoring business, tutor professionally at my current college, intern with an engineering company that works for the military, and I'm now scheduled to transfer to Carnegie Mellon University's Engineering Department. Quit? Please
