The Landmark Resort Review

Rooms were disgusting. Shower was not clean. Outdated everything. People running up and down the hall after midnight. Roaches. Never again!

I wouldn't recommend this place to even my worst enemy!!!! Service was ok, but the place was disgusting! Roaches in a few areas, and the room was not clean, 2 of the 4 burners on the stove didn't work. Couldn't even enjoy the oceanfront view with the ac unit smell right in your face. The while place was a disaster, no pool towels the entire visit we were there, just all around gross and nothing like the picture it to be on their website!!!
Check in was a nightmare, waited in the line for an hour and had to occupy the kids in the car even after a 12 hr car ride, ridiculous!!

Customer service can not be beat. Everyone is accommodating and friendly. They make you feel like an old friend. Rooms could use a little uplift. Great prices and location.

Nice place, very helpful staff. Just have to walk miles ( so it seems) to get to your room.

Rooms are outdated and do not have closets. Never stayed at a hotel that did not have a closet. Also, the room temperature is not regulated. Gave two stars because of the ocean view. Otherwise, would have given only one star. Do not recommend this hotel.

Good: price was great, location was water front with great view, balcony could see the entire ocean front, the room size was good, the pools were great for kids, several lazy rivers, staff were nice.

Bad: Very dated in need of renovations, rooms smell moldy, cleanliness of rooms could be better. Several water bugs in pool areas. Check-in process took about an hour, super long lines but people were cordial

Overall not horrible, small tweaks would make it an amazing place.

The rooms are very small, kitchen was dirty. We found a couple of cockroaches in our room and in the pool and outside of the pool! The hotel doesn't spray there rooms. Everynight you can smell weed! Also the walls are very thin i can here everything coming from the other room! The door had a huge gap that bugs can come in your room. Guest are not respectful they are so loud in the hallways at 1am. Don't think we will be back at this hotel.

Just need to update a few things & make their customer check in a little bit faster.

I stayed here for one week 8/2019. The one thing I will say is that the staff were very good people. The midnight manager was great, and very helpful with the issues I had. I had 4 major issues.
1. The inhouse restaurant should be shut down, the small food hut near the pool had better food. The food at the restaurant was disgusting. And the service was embarrassing.
2. The main lobby has some kind of plumbing issues being covered up with a colon smelling air freshener. In certain areas you could smell sewage. I honestly can't believe a health inspector hasn't been called out.
3. The rooms have bed bugs and cockroachs.
4. The place needs a rehab. Like i said all the staff members were great, and they can only work with what there leaders are providing them. Who ever owns this property should be held accountable for maintaing a place that with updates could be pretty nice.

Awsome facilities pools are great. The sunrise is well worth it all.

Got to the hotel and had to wait 20 mins. to be checked in. Arielle was very helpful and got me the information I needed. I went to my room and had to leave due to a meeting in one of the halls down stairs. There was no ac and the hall smelled of mold. When I got back upstairs to relax, I laid on the bed with my computer and 2 mins. later something was crawling by my face. I jumped off the bed and there were 3 bed bugs.

I took a video because the were running so fast I was able to get one on camera. I called the front desk and they seemed to think I was making it up. 20 mins later maintenance crew came and started looking for the bugs. To their surprise, they didn t see any (how convenient) right before they were leaving, the bed bug came back out again!! the maintenance man grabbed it and brought it to the lobby to show the clueless manager.

I was told I had to leave my room and everything that I came with had to left behind. Mind you I still haven t showered and I was sweating from the hot hallways and the banquet rooms. So they put me in another room but I HAVE NO CLOTHES, NO NOTHING. ugh. The manager told me there was nothing they can do to accommodate me for this. Like Really?!? What about refund or upgrade or get me SOME CLOTHES. Did I mention, I had no clothes?!?!?! I have a meeting in the morning and I am going there with a hello Kitty tee shirt and GameCock shorts with Nike sneakers, FML these people are no help. Man I wish I can post this video. I would rate this hotel at 0 stars. But Arielle (a.m crew) was really nice.

The customer service was disgraceful. The manager and front desk were rude. My son wanted to leave, however, his family traveled for hours to get there so I asked them to stay. Will not bless them with our company any longer. Disappointed, I took my children there in the early 2000 's when it was clean, friendly, smoke free and alcohol free. It now overlooks smoking while inside the pool area and drunken bouts. It is a danger zone for your little ones. With intoxicated and drug induced persons there, the children are not safe! Watch them well!

Landmark Resort was wonderful. Very polite, professional staff and amazing indoor pools, hottub, and lazy river. Would definitely recommend to family's.

The room was ok. But the beds was the worse i ever sleep on.

Lazy river smells like a sewer. Out door hot tub was cold. People making loud racket at all hours of the night.

Rude customer service at the check in ac in the room didnt work they wouldnt change me to another room had to spend all weekend in a hot 8th floor room the tv was also out aswell as the phone being broken in the room I have to go and buy 2 fans to make it threw the weekend I have never had such an unaccommodating hotel in my life took a fun weekend and made it miserable ....

Was not impressed with this hotel. Check in took over an hour. The beds were less than comfortable. The best experience here was the fantastic security who went above and beyond too be helpful and courteous.

Horrible service, had what sounded like a ticking clock in our walls. Asked for the manager to come to the room to see what we had to deal with and he refused to come up in person. Only offered to move us next door, after driving 15 hours and in packing that was the last thing we wanted to do. He called back a second time and I asked about upgrading our room and he said "we were all sold out." So i went to their website and wanted to see if it was true and they had plenty of upgrades. Do yourself a favor and dont fall for their deals, no matter how good they are it is not worth it. Staff is rude

Since we have been coming here every year for the last 4 years, it's great. The only improvement I could see is that people have sensitivity to strong odors, so that strong smelling spray y'all are using has got to go! It smells like old pimp cologne!! It's awful, and it's way too strong!!!

I read so many mixed reviews I just took a chance and glad we did! Lots of pools/jacuzzis and activites on site. We ordered three Executive Oceanfront suites and ALL three Suites were spotless. No issues with my stay. As stated in other reviews the place is dated but that didn't bother me. We walked right out to the beach, lounged in the pools all day. Some spaces/places were "funky" smelling but that's about it. I had a pleasant stay and would return again!

Nice place. Cleaning service kind and friendly. The front desk woman was a little rude but everything else was great.

I had a good stay. Front desk staff is friendly. Breakfast was not good at all. Service at the bar and restaurant was slow. The food at the restaurant was okay. Do not have high expectations when visiting...

This place used to be great but the last year it has become super dirty the last two times iv stayed. The beds had hair on them when we first got here and the bathroom ceiling looks like its falling apart with mold around it. The sheets had stains on them and the pillows had pen Marks all over them. The freezer was all rusted out and there was roaches everywhere in the room and pool area. The staff was friendly but the hotel itself has become super nasty. The lazy river wasnt opened but they havent bothered to clean it so it had dead roaches and bugs just floating around in it. The pools arent heated anymore either. Never staying here again.

Great location and price for all the amenities included with the room. Great resort for families. Room was clean and spacious. However the common areas, lobby, and indoor pool area needs a lot of update. The facility as a whole plus surroundings. I assume with the traffic the area receives on a daily it seems like renovating would lose the business money to have to shut down. The pictures have been edited a great bit or they were taken when the resort first opened. It is NOT what you see, but what you get. If you arent funny about all around cleanliness of a hotel then this would be fine. I didnt book it but if it were up to me I wouldnt have.

Stayed here twice in my life. Bad experience. Rooms were bad, too much chlorine in the pools and pretty sure the bed had bugs in it.

Nice place to have conferences, seminars and meetings. We didn't stay there, we're only there during day for the conference.

Not sure why I even gave it a one star. Room is nothing like the one I reserved and booked on line. The hole place smell bad. Room is not clean. Crumbs on the couch hair on the couch. Couldn't even get the luggage rack past the bed it's so small. And the couch is supposed to be a fold out for an extra bed.....and it is not.

Wonderful Experience! Will definitely book with Landmark in the future! as soon as I arrived i was checked in by Sherman ( If I'm not wrong I think he was the manager) He was Great , he gave us some coupons and checked us in quickly, The rooms are nice, friendly staff. Definitely a good choice !!

Stayed here from the 16th to 18th. We had a great stay from the moment we got there until we left. The staff was very nice and accommodating. The pools were very fun for my almost one year old and four year old. Our room was just as the pictures showed them. All in all our expectations were met. Even had dinner in the restaurant in the hotel and had the nicest waitress. Darlene was nice and very good with our son. I would definitely stay here again.

This hotel should be fined for showing pictures that are nothing like the actual place. There are numerous stray cats around the garage and parking lot. The outside parking lot and garage area smelled horribly almost as if a dead animal was in dumpster or around building. There were huge roaches in garage as well as in the hallway to our room. The carpet in hallway was wet and stained black. The room was outdated and looked like the furniture came from a dumpster or a goodwill drop off site; very old , stained , and tattered. The bed felt like an air mattress on top of box springs. We stayed less than 30 min from check in to check out. The staff was nice & a refund was given. I was in shock the difference between online pictures and this actual building /hotel. This is not a resort & it is disgusting

A bit of a maze from the north tower to the south tower but view is amazing. Enjoyed how close it is to the beach. Hop jump and skip and you are in the ocean.

We found a great deal on Groupon and stayed here for 2 nights. The hotel was clean and our room was nice. The only thing I would suggest is to bring your own towels. We had 3 people in our room and only had 2 bath towels. When I called to have more towels delivered they showed up to only inform us that they ran out of towels. Overall it was a pleasant stay.

Once, the pride of Myrtle Beach and high on our short list, the Landmark has fallen. Worn, dirty carpet in halls and room, loose fixtures in bath, damaged doors, loose locks, musty odors throughout, dirty floors into and around pools. Pool water and hot tub water with odors. Hot tub pumps not working. Short supply of stinky towels at pool. Negligent or absent parents at pool, causes too frequent misbehaving minors.

After getting settled in my bed, I notice there was blood on my white flat bed sheet. After calling and complaining, housekeeping decided to drop off clean linen for ME to remove and change the linen myself. The employees had absolutely no remorse at all.

A bit outmoded and dingy. The cliental is a bit rough. Must have been a gem in it's day. The pools are warm and interesting. The rooms are comfortable even though they are old and worn. It's a decent place to go on a tight budget.

I had a great time here with my husband yes the hotel is old and a bit outdated but they are renovating and I could see the upgrades that had been done or that they were working on view was amazing, indoor pools so much fun, and loved the beach especially how close we were. Close to lots of places to eat. I would definitely come back with the kids because they would love it!

This has to be THE WORST hotel I have ever stayed at!! The customer service in this establishment is at an all time low. I mean, never in my life have I ever had to endure the belittlement of staff shown to patronage. I will never, ever stay here again. Rooms are outdated, and inconsistent. Staff are condescending, and not helpful at all on even the smallest matters. They are unapologetic in any matter, and clearly when the establishment or staff is in the wrong. The beds are hard, rooms have smells, breakfast area is garbage and a waste of time and space. I just cannot with these people. Never, ever, again! I wish I didn't have to give this one star.

Hotel is promising but it is in need of major renovations. We stayed on the fourth floor and the entire floor and room smelled like cigarettes and humidity. Employees and guests are permitted to roam the floors without masks. No procedures are followed whatsoever. Elevators were frequently over crowded shouldn t there be limits on this? I shouldn t have to tell others guests not to load on an elevator with my family in the middle of a pandemic.. post some signs!!! Also the hot tubs were constantly occupied by small children with no restrictions. I was very excited for this stay but the hotel was not at all what I expected.

This place is very clean and the rooms are very nice furnishings are nice and upscale. Great kitchen.area. would definitely stay here again we come to mb several times a year and stay at different places and this was the best , and good price.

Lots of pools. First night the room did not have the queen sized beds that were mentioned in their ads. They were full sized. Thankfully they moved us the next day to a bigger room. Wish the bathrooms were better ventilated. 3 Pokestops here. Beautiful view.

Staff was friendly, view was amazing. Room was clean, breakfast was free. 10/10

Dirty, dingy, and run down. "Resort fees" were sprung on you at check in, despite prepaying online. Rude and unhelpful front desk employees and management. The power, cable, and wifi all went out during our stay but there was no compensation given for the lack of amenities that we had already been charged extra for. The icing on the cake was an unauthorized charge on my credit card days after our stay for over 300 dollars. Trying to contact someone at the hotel who can/will assist me has been impossible. Endless transfers and voicemail inboxes with no returned calls. Avoid the Landmark Resort at ALL COST! Facilities like this have become the standard in Myrtle Beach. In addition to the rampant crime in Myrtle Beach, this is just another reason for tourists to take and spend their money elsewhere.

Hallways and other common areas dirty, smelly, and old

Stayed this Summer & can't even fathom the amount of filth & unprofessional staff. The hallways smelled terrible & the room we were in had roaches, when we asked for a different room we found a roach trap behind the fridge!! Not a good trip at all, not to mention when we asked for a refund we were then threatened to be kicked out of the resort. Very bad experience I would NOT recommend staying here unless you plan on wasting money

We just left this morning ! We had a great time , room was great ! Clean and all the staff were very fun and helpful! Craig the bell hop is great! He helped us carry all of items . we had a issue with the key of our room but they got on top of the issue asap . I recommend this resort for anyone with a family we have 4 children and they all had a blast! They grill hamburgers and hot dogs on the patio at the outdoor pool for lunch! The rooms are spacious and it was very quiet didn't hear a thing ! We will be staying agian !!!

1st time here. So far so good! The pizza place next door is a bonus!,!

First time visiting this resort and I have no complaints staff was great!! Management was great i didn't catch his name but he was very attentive to his guests , it's a very fun resort to spend time with your family and so much to do

Outdated resort in a beautiful location. The pool area is nice and my grandson greatly enjoyed, however the floors in the pool area are in dire need of cleaning. The resort over all is in great need for a remodel and updating. It may have been a four or five star resort when it was built, but that was many years ago. Fitness room was empty - no equipment. Carpet needs replacing and walls need painting. Wasn't sure what was with the water in the kitchen, but it was cloudy and unable to see through. Bought water to make coffee. Starbucks in the lobby was closed during my three day visit. This was my second and last stay at the Landmark. For the cost of the rooms and all the extra fees added on, there has to be better facilities at the same price. Time to shop around before my next holiday.

This place is not what it seems to be online. Me and my family struggled to get comfortable the entire visit. I d only recommend that anybody visit this place if it was the only shelter on earth

This hotel was very nice! The staff were pleasant & the restaurants offered a nice variety of food at decent prices. Our room was offered through airbnb, so it was really clean and well decorated. However, the AC units are not very powerful. But I mean, c'mon, who wants to have the AC on when you have the ocean right outside your slider door?
I dropped a star because of the AC units and because of the keycards. They are just blank cards and confused not only us, but other guests we encountered during our stay. I wish they were more clearly marked and showed where the mag strip is. No one likes trying to get inside in cold wind after soaking in the hot tub and you have to turn your keycard 5 times to get it right!

The staff were friendly. While my room was clean, it was very outdated. The cosmetic improvement that was done on the cabinets in the kitchenette was some type of peel and stick wood look plastic that bubbled up and pulled off in areas making the cabinets hard to open/close. The sitting area also needed remodeling as the curtains and couch were threadbare in areas.

The Ocean view was amazing. The room I stayed in was mediocre......chipped walls rusty toilets and moldy tubs is unacceptable in 2019. I will not take pictures of the mattresses however I will be making a masseuse appointment after this vacation. However I did walk pass a few rooms that looked very comfortable and believe I paid for an upgrade and would have paid for a quadruple upgrade but I think you have to be a timeshare owner to sleep comfortably!!!!! The staff at the desk was beyond friendly and helpful!!! I never received housekeeping the whole stay, we would leave and come back expecting fresh exfoliating towels but nothing. I refused to call because I didn't want any trouble and felt like maybe God didn't want them in my room near my belongings.......I must say I had better rest at red roof inn

When I booked our hotel at Landmark, I read several reviews and was expecting the worst, people said that their room never got cleaned, that they requested more towels, toiletries, ect.... and never got what they requested. However, my husband and I enjoyed our stay there and would definitely come back to stay. Our room was very clean and there were at least 2 cleaning people on our floor every day, so I know the rooms were getting cleaned. The staff were incredibly nice and took good care of us. It was my first real vacation, first time to see the ocean and was completely happy with our stay. Thanks Landmark staff for making our vacation a memorable one.

Will be back next year. Great place. Rooms are nice. Staff is very nice. 17 pools. Cant complain. Priced just right as well.

I didn't want to believe the bad reviews until I got here this week. Checked into a disgusting room, stained sheets, holes in couches, black stuff all over ceiling and walls, awful smell, hallways are disgusting, elevators smell like cat pee, lights don't work in some parts of hallway. Customer service was lax. After switching our room to another filthy, disgusting room I demanded my money back. Find a hotel just off the beach like the Hampton. The small increase in price is worth not staying in a garbage can. If I had to choose between staying at the Landmark or just not going on vacation, I would stay home. I was seriously afraid of catching something. YUCKKKK

Was so excited to go because of the pictures as shown . Until we found bed bugs in our room . Very disappointing, never going back. Wish we would ve never got the room !

It is a nice place with some nice amenities and great views. The hotel itself is a bit worn down but overall a nice place for price.

This hotel isn't even a 1 star hotel. This hotel is filthy, carpet, bathrooms and ironing boards. YUCK! Vending machines don't work but they will take your money. They charge in addition to the rate & taxes a deposit of $100 upfront probably due to all the damage caused by people, this should be covered in the over priced rooms over $180 a night. It's overpriced for the nasty dirty rooms you get. Beds are hard and small you and your husband can't sleep together unless you are both tiny skinny people. This place is in need of major renovations, not just cover ups. The air conditioner works hard and room still is warm. The shower curtain doesn't stay closed. I had to tape it to keep it closed so water didn't go out onto the floor. Other people's hair in the sink and tub is gross. The door latch/handle to the balcony is broken (I'll get blamed and they will keep my deposit) even though I found it broken. Pillows are flat and I woke up feeling itchy. You have an ocean view but if you go out onto the balcony it's loud. You can't hear the ocean. I put a note on my door "Do not enter". I don't want anyone who works there in my room for any reason. I will never go back. If they didn't have my money for 7 nights, I would leave. I don't know how this hotel is sold out. They must offer discounted rates to get people in. I think some people leave after 1 night. There are a lot of scary hotels in Myrtle Beach. I'm trying to get my money back so I can go somewhere else, but resistance is fierce. I intend to get it back and move. In the meantime, I'll be posting reviews to warn people.

I liked the fact that it was directly on the beach. The lazy river is well kept, and very relaxing. The front desk staff were very welcoming and friendly.

For the rest of the "resort," I disliked the dreadfully old atmosphere. The place was built in the 70s, and hasn't been renovated in 15 years (and it shows). It's passable, but nearly everything FEELS old. The shower heads are so short, that if you're over 5-feet tall, you will have to bend your head down just to rinse the shampoo out of your hair. As for service, the staff does a poor job CLEANING the rooms (making the bed and stocking towels is not "cleaning"). When we got to the room, the mini-fridge still had half a box of bagel bites, and a quarter jug of sweet tea from the previous guests. Some towels and washcloths were still VISIBLY dirty. I had flag down the housekeeper in the hallway to get them to come back and remove the trash.

It's not the worst hotel out there, but many aspects of it are almost certain to disappoint, and there are far better options.

Worst hotel stay ever. The staff was nice but that's all. Full size beds Not queen. Small rooms. No hot water the first night. They were painting on my hall. Finally, we stayed on a nonsmoking floor and every night someone was smoking weed.

Landmark Resort is an affordable option for families wanting to vacation along the Myrtle Beach coastline. They offer ocean view rooms that cost a little more. The actual layout of the rooms can be a little confusing with all the different hallways, and they aren't the best labeled or lit in some areas. The Landmark Resort is obviously dated with its decor, but the room I stayed in was clean and appeared to be more updated than the halls and other random areas of the hotel. Our room also included a sink, microwave and refrigerator. The front desk workers were friendly and informative. In regards to location compared to other resorts, it is further down from the main strip with the shops, restaurants and Ripley's attraction. There are pools and hot tubs, both indoor and outdoor. Also a lazy river both inside and outside. If you were wanting beach access, that is available right outside of the pool area. If you're wanting a drink by the pool, there is a poolside bar that also offers some food items. All in all, it is an affordable hotel that is dated but does have amenities that are appealing to families with children.

We had a fabulous stay at the Landmark, the staff is extremely helpful and friendly... The Rooms are clean with comfortable beds... Lots of choices for the Grandkids to do, one never had to leave the hotel to have a fantastic vacation....

Oceanfront executive suite has 2 double beds and a Murphy bed as well as full kitchen equipped with dishes, pots pans and utensils. Living room with dining area, couch, flat screen TV and oceanfront balcony.

Never go to this hotel. They don't honor prices that are posted on their websites. Front desk is rude. My organization will never go there again.

ZERO STARS! STAY AWAY UNLESS YOU LIKE ROACHES STAYING WITH YOU. The front desk handled the situation as best they could, but I don't understand how they're still in business. I honestly can't speak on the amenities because no sooner than we checked in and were greeted by roaches in 2 rooms, we checked out. 1st and last time here. Never again.

Pros: Friendly Staff. Great Beach access. Cons: Facilities are musty and out dated. Our window unit AC appears to not have been cleaned in a long time (Rm. 414 Dust and mold in the vents.) Old spring beds were not very comfortable. Summary: If you're on a budget and you're looking for an okay hotel with beach access, then Landmark may fulfill your needs. Although it was not pristine and modern, we were still able to enjoy our family get away.

I would not recommened this place , soon as we walked in our room you can feel the dirtyness . The mattress were dirty had mold on them the wall in rooms , hallways the whole builing was nasty. Stayed there for a couple days and i couldnt wait to leave .

LOVE this place very family friendly and great spot on the beach. And affordable.
