I like living here because of the help I always get from Absalon. Except, I hate the speed bumps.
I like living here because of the help I always get from Absalon. Except, I hate the speed bumps.
Update: They are working on fixing the internet, and my 2 recent maintenance requests have been completed relatively quickly. Although I am still annoyed that my request to replace my blinds was ignored when I moved in, only to have the fall and break my plants, I got new blinds installed after the weekend. The hall window that blew out is still not fixed, and they are being lazy and claiming it will be a spring project. They have also gotten a bit faster at checking in packages, so I can pick them up within a half hour of them being delivered, instead of 3 hours to a day.
1. Any 5 star reviews are either for free pizza / give aways, of pre-management change in August 2020. DO NOT TRUST ALL REVIEWS.
2. Maintenance doesn t always fix the problem and will show up (without warning) MONTHS later, and no longer leave a report to say they were here. There are also excessive amounts of apartment checks for things like smoke alarms, and these people conveniently arrive when no one is home! This is extremely unnerving as they have keys and open access to all of our belongings, and could be doing anything in OUR apartment while we are not watching........
3. The office staff know nothing, are not helpful, and ofter lose packages (or take forever to log them so you can't pick them up)
4. The property owner and manager can NOT be reached and are not on site
5. Apartment are nasty upon move in! They claim to professionally clean them, but clearly do NOT
6. Amenities Scam: The gym re-opened when restaurants re-opened the first time, but is always full and people do not always wear masks although they are required . They claim to have fantastic amenities, yet I have yet gotten to experience the pool. The free printing rooms and study rooms have been closed, until we called them out on false advertising. Now they are 'open', but the printers have been jammed for over a month, and no one cares to fix them.
7. They are constantly harassing residents to re-lease, even if you have, or are clearly not going to. I have gotten tons of emails, texts, and calls regarding the matter. They have also begun to attach flyers to every package that gets delivered to the office.
8. Security DOES NOT do anything with noise complaints, or respond fast if locked out. They will be happy to charge you a $50 trash fee though...
9. The apartments have ancient amenities and utilities. The furniture does not always match. The difference between the two room types is a LIE. We had a hole in our ceiling, a wasp problem (that was not taken care of quickly or professionally), broken utilities (microwave, clogged shower and sink drains, faulty stove burner), ect. There is broken and missing molding, paint EVERYWHERE, and carpets are stained.
10. They have changed their resident portal and app so it is harder to reserve amenities and request maintenance. You can no longer provide a priority level (as everything will be treated as extremely low priority, or ignored), and there are not categories to cover everything in the apartment.
11. If you are still going to live here: building choice matters! The back (I lived in building 21 first) is where the baseball team lives. It will be loud all the time, the apartments will be dirty, but these are also the newer buildings . We moved to the front (building 2) and it has been quieter, but still dirty apartments, and the building and appliances are all older. The leasing agents will tell you, as they told us, that every building is the same and location doesn t really matter, but it does and you never know what you are going to get.
This window blew out on Nov. 15, 2020 at 12:23pm. I personally let the office know and was told they would fix it asap as it was a top priority. In the mean time, I blocked it with Amazon boxes. My boxes remained in the broken window for 2 months before they replaced them with another huge board instead of fixing the issue.
don't believe these recent fake reviews, the new management is unprofessional and unhelpful, and they work inefficiently
This place is awesome and has amazing customer service! Katy is particularly helpful, I had so many questions and she took the time to answer and explain everything. I will definitely be recommending The Landings to others!
I don t live here myself, but I wish I did! My brother lives here and when I come and visit, I m always impressed with the facilities and how clean it is. I would recommend this to anyone living in East Lansing
I just signed my third lease with the Landings. The first year went pretty well although there were two changes in management. Over the summer, we had one roommate move out. Staff came in 2 or 3 times every time to label the empty room, paint, or check paint. In the end, they replaced the carpet in the wrong room and left belongings all over the place including leaving a refrigerator unplugged. We've had several people come see the room, but never got a new roommate. Finally after signing the most recent lease, both of my roommates and I got calls asking for paperwork we had all filled out when we signed our first leases. the office staff are nice and helpful. Overall, a decent option, especially for the price.
Mr. Brandon Odell was AMAZING! He helped me with a situation regarding my daughters rent from beginning to end. I would nominate Brandon into a managerial position over new hires and given the opportunity to teach all employees how to treat customers. Thank you so much for your professionalism.
Great place to live lots of space in apartments. Wish the walls weren t so thin because neighbors get mad about music not even that loud. Fun place to be in EL
Been here over a year, everything about the apartment is great, all amenities are outstanding. Staff is always so helpful. Definitely highly recommended overall
The service was great, maintenance was fast to come after the call was made. The price was great to pay off since the apt includes onsite laundry and furnitures. However, the wall and the ceiling are so thin, so I could hear everything from the kitchen, living room, and the room on above floor.
Really a great friendly place. Lots of ammeneties and great staff.
The landings at chandler crossing apartments are the best! Staff is super friendly and very attentive. Brandon Odell was very helpful. Great guy!
I currently live in the Landings with 3 of my friends. The apartments are fully furnished and equipped with things that are necessities for college students on a budget. However, you do get what you pay for with the quality of some of the things in the apartment. If you're looking for some place cheap to stay with lots of amenities, I recommend the Landings. If you are going to sign with the Landings ask for Absolon Johnson. He is very understanding and gets things done quick. Any problems I have experienced with the Landings were solved by Absolon and Martin, the maintenance man. Martin is amazing and always on time!
I've lived here now for two years. I' originally took over a sublease for the 2 bedroom upgraded apartments. Now I'm in the 4 bedroom basic apartment. Even with the downgrade we each still have our own bedroom and bathroom. The leases are done by each room. So you don't have to worry if you have a roommate not paying rent. It will only affect them. The amenities and price of the apartment is great. I've also had quiet neighbors. The manager Katie, all the office staff, and Chris are awesome. They've helped with various issues. They are very approachable and go out of their way to help. They are why I stay. There are always activities and special food planned to bring more of a community atmosphere. The only reason I'm giving it a 4 is because mine and another roommate had awful mattresses. We were given new ones so management did try and help. But those were awful too. I purchased a new one myself and management allowed it because of my chiropractor. The only other issue has been with our fridge. When we moved in their was ice in the fridge and a water cup collecting the water. Management and maintenance have been trying to work out a solution. The cup is still collecting water. But it's not freezing our food in the fridge. So for the little bit of extra money definately do the upgraded apartment. The appliances were awesome. Our freezer was packed way more than this one and it worked great. But even with the few issues. The staff and management are always helping. This is way better than where I lived before. Plus if you want a pet you can have one here. There is even a dog park.
Editing my previous reviews now to just a single star. The landings has no concept of privacy and does not care about its tenants whatsoever. They took whole month of March to do furnace inspections . They only emailed us the day before this was supposed to happen with a note that they will be entering our apartment at a random time. They also came into our apartment yesterday, without any prior notification, which I have since found out is illegal. After their entrance, they left a disgusting mess outside our door of dust and dead bugs. The landings only informs us of any problems with passive aggressive notes outside our door.
This place is affordable and cute! Great gym, pool, and club house! And there is always free food!
I was recently in the office and Colton G. was super helpful and friendly! He answered all of my questions and definitely made the experience enjoyable!
Amazing experience. Stayed for a year. No real complaints.
Pros:
- Nothing beats being the first stop on the bus route. Even if you miss it you can just cross the street for a second chance!
- Maintenance requests required were addressed super-promptly
- Rent payment system is super convenient (Pro-tip: Use the E-check option to save on card fees)
- Office staff is super-nice and super-responsive
Cons:
- (during winter months) some buildings seem a little far away from the community center/bus stop. If possible, get one closer to the community center/bus stop
- Wish they upgraded the pool table equipment and the gym. (Its kinda high time)
You guys need to find a better internet provider. Internet goes down at least 10 times a day. I paid 100 dollars technology fee in the beginning, is this what it's going towards? How do they expect students to study and relax with this atrocious internet. I called Airwave to complain and all they could tell me was "We don't know what's wrong but we will monitor it". Such a disgrace.
Had the best experience with Mary today, she was so polite and answered all my questions!! I feel so comfortable now! 10/10 recommend Marys service for future tenants.
Fantastic service from all the employees. Room and amenities are great for the price. Emilie has been extremely helpful with the leasing process. I was in Orlando, and was unable to tour the apartment, so she gave me a tour over skype and answered all my questions! Talk about going above and beyond.
- Elias Naddaf
I was suggested to live at Chandler Crossings by Mary, so I checked it out. Thanks to her, I now know where I am living next year and am excited to move!
I don t personally live here but spend a lot of time with my friend. DO NOT LEASE HERE. The speed bumps alone is reason enough, they are super high and are very damaging to vehicle even going well under the speed limit. It is also very expensive for the amount of space you actually have. Internet is unusable, way to slow for anything you need to get done. Had multiple experiences where the staff did not give notice that they were going to inspect the apartment, also they just barged in. The inspections are quarterly but they have come way more then 4 times. Also the inspections are very brief but they don t actually look at anything. I also helped moved in and the place was disgusting, the appliances are old and barley work. Spent a lot of time cleaning when they said it was already cleaned. It takes maintenance way to long to solve issues and when they do, you get charged because it s up to their discretion if the problem was your fault. The staff is very nice at first when touring and the process of leasing but after that they don t answer phone calls even when you leave a voice mail. It took 3 work orders to fix the windows during the winter the room was unlivable because it was so cold even with the heat on. Then they deleted the requests and said those other 2 orders never happened. They will fine you for any little thing. It s not worth the headache DONT DO IT.
Katy was absolutely perfect in my leasing process! Things could not have run smoother if they were a Swiss watch. I don't know how she isn't running the whole show! 10/10 would recommend her services to anyone looking for a flat!
The Landings is a great place to live due to price and value. I have lived here since February and it has full washers and dryers, large kitchen and living room space, lots of parking, a pool, and a dog park all inside the facility. Yes, dogs are allowed. Definitely a good choice if you re looking for a cheaper price with great benefits.
I called yesterday to ask about starting a lease here and Mary was super helpful and was able to answer all of my questions. She was extremely patient with me and walked me through the process and explained to me what I had to do.
Great price for great amenities! Chris are amazing! Having the bus stop right at the complex and end exactly by the law school has been super convenient.
My name is Hakeem Weatherspoon and I go by the People s Poet. Right now and so far the Landings have been great. Im the type of guy that walks by faith and not by sight. I really needed an apartment and the first person who helped me was Sydnee. I hoped I spelled her name right some people get people to sign leases for money but she was a great help. Especially commuting from Detroit to El i told her it was an emergency and guess what my apartment number is 911. Then there is Chris, kind dude. He is already on the ball and quick to help out when he cans. So far im having a great experience. Btw they have good chilli!
Mary was very helpful and very nice answered all my questions!!
I had a great experience with Raquel. I went into the office for a tour and she was so helpful in answering all of my questions! 10/10 would recommend!
Overall SUCKS DON'T LIVE HERE unless your desperate or have someone to help with the expensive bills.
Wonderful place to stay with excellent amenities. Nice location. Good staff. Perfect maintenance.
One of the best office staff, I have seen around in East Lansing area and a great community to be a part of. However, it has a scope of improvement in maintenance to make it more customer satisfactory.
Very good service! And helpful staff I m the office!
They always make me feel at home and Jay is the best to ever do it!!!! I wasted no time rendering my lease here.
I've only lived here 1 year but in my experience they have incredible staff and the pre furnished apartments are very accommodating. The maintenance can occasionally be hard to work with in my opinion but it's never usually bad enough to care
The landings is a great place to stay and Absalon is so helpful!
I had a couple concerns upon move in. Got in contact with Angie and she remedied my concerns very efficiently and professionally. I m really going to love The Landings once the amenities are opened!
Brandon Odell is great and deserves to be employee of the year!!
The staff is very friendly here especially Mary who always provides answers to any questions and greets everyone with a smile!
This place has the worst internet. And the landings just refuse to fix it.
Been living here for almost a year. Great place to live if you wish to live quietly. Had problems with previous roommates, but was able to switch to a new unit. Office staffs are great. They are very nice, and friendly(especially Katy).
The dog park is great and the ability to have my dog in the apartment is so important to me. Maintenance is also really great about fixing things quickly in my experience. Quiet area, near a bike/walking trail and plenty of parking.
I'm looking for a new apartment and Angie was very helpful in answering all my questions
It SUCKS
The apartments are FREEZING in winter and we are in Michigan. The only thing we can rely on is the air conditioner and it doesn't change a thing. STILL FREEZING.
The management SUCKS. Don't expect anything related to their office working or maintenance and the officers are very rude. It's like you own them everything.
The most important thing is, if you drop your rent check later than the due date for 3 hours, they will charge you for BLOODY $50. FIFTY.
Think about it.
I called the office and the lady working, Mary Borowski, was so polite and a great person to talk to.
The staff are extremely helpful with issues despite the large amount of residents they must deal with on a day to day basis.
Absalon helped us with our apartment search. He was very helpful and provided a great experience!
I lived at Chandler Crossings from November 2015-April of 2016 and was more than happy to leave. The Village was a complete s**t show from day one. Poorly trained individuals that exercised extreme confusion throughout the entire lease signing experience. One of them was even the assistant manager.
They promised a $250 credit toward your first month rent for referring someone (my roommate) - when I called they said kept telling me "next month, etc". In the dead of winter, our water heater was broken for 2 weeks and after calling and making service requests six times, it was finally fixed. Not to mention, when the repair men walked in, they left the floors muddy w/ foot tracks throughout the place.
Be prepared to have boots up to your thighs, because they don't plow the sidewalks or parking lots until about 9am - when everyone is already at work or class. The walls are paper thin and I could hear conversations my neighbors were having as if I was in the same room as them.
From the 5 months I lived there one of the Landings buildings caught on fire and ruined like 5 apartments, there was an armed robbery (two men w/ guns) in the leasing center parking lot at 6pm, a car was stolen from the Club, and numerous break-in attempts.
Sure, the rent is decently priced and there are a lot of amenities. However, the management is just god awful (even the new management). Just be prepared for all of the crap you have to deal with when living there (sketchy people, poor up-keep, sloppy maintenance, rude/unorganized leasing staff).
P.S. The Landings is literally built on swamp land.
It was a very nice experience. I always feel welcomed!
No doubt the best place to live off campus! Especially staff wise, they are always super friendly and very productive.
Nice place to live. Lots of staff are really nice, One-I believe his name is Brandon Odell- was super helpful. He was very respectful and very attentive.
I absolutely love living at The Landings! I have lived here for almost a year now and have renewed my lease for next year! It is the perfect distance away from Michigan State University and has its own CATA bus route, and you receive a free CATA semester bus pass when you sign! Plus, all the amenities have saved me A LOT of money, from the free fitness center and tanning to the free printing! Choosing to live at The Landings as been one of the best decisions I have made and I would recommend living here to everyone! My sister has even decided to live here next year after hearing about all my experiences and all the things The Landings has to offer its residents!
Low prices compared to all the leasing areas around. Also, very calm and quiet area!
I love living here! The staff are very personable and helpful. I signed a renewal after living here for only a couple of months. Brandon and Katie have ensured that i receive the best customer oriented experience and the room rates are super cheap for the space you re given. I d highly recommend living here.
Me and a bunch of friends moved in this fall. We have had a few problems along the way but the office staff was always so accommodating and helpful. My roommate and I have enjoyed ourselves so much these first few months that we are resigning for next year! I ve recommended this place to all of my friends and my boyfriend and his friends already. Chandler crossing has everything you need. Cheap rent. Free transportation. Friendly staff. Clean neighborhoods. Exceptional amenities which we try to take full advantage of. My friends and my cats couldn t be happier with our decision! 10/10 would recommend :)
I love this place! I spoke with a very helpful young lady, Katy! She was very patient, i had a lot of questions, and kind. Answered every question i had! The property is lovely but i think my favorite part is that they have a pool and workout facilities! If you're looking for a fun affordable place with helpful staff, look no further! This is it! Thanks again to Katy for all your help!
I came to sign up for the leasing, Emily helped me a lot and she is really kind to all of us.
The landings is a very warm and welcoming location. They offer lower rent that comes with a great quality of living. I also like how they put on events for the residents and offer many things to do! Aside from pool, ping pong, weight room, swimming pool and more, they offer a dog park as well. It is a nice welcome to the landings when all the pups are enjoying their time at the landings dog park. Another unique thing I like is that you can visit the Club and the Village and use their facilities as well! Another perk is that no matter which facility you are at, every employee is very warm and welcoming. I normally encounter Logan, Brandon, or Colton but all of the workers are good at what they do! Very well organized and ready to help at all times.
Emilee is amazing!! She was very helpful and kind. Can't wait to move in our new apartment!!
This place is the worst place I have ever lived.. do not move here at all. They just had a random person move into my apartment without my knowledge, took 3 weeks to fix a door, found a mouse in my washer when I moved in a year ago. I give the Landings at Chandler Crossing 0/10. Take your money and find a better place to live. Also the whole management is by far the worst I have ever seen in my life. Never gets back to you and always have their staff do the work for them when it should be THEIR FIRST PRIORITY. Never move here.
horrible apt, the woman at the leasing office such as a ...
Literally looooove these Apartments! Great living and super amazing helpful staff! I had a few leasing and technical questions for my Account and Brandon Odell really helped me out he made sure he double checked his information before presenting it and was willing to correct any errors although there weren t any. More Apartments need staff like at the Landing and more so like Brandon
The rent here is outrageous the staff in the office could oftentimes be unhelpful or just downright rude. They have inspections almost every week it seems like where they let some stranger walk around your house. After this happened a few times I had some of my property come up missing the security of this place is laughable the police are constantly here my car has been broken into a number of times in their parking lot and upon telling the office about this they have done nothing. The guy that sits at the gate every night and it's supposed to be a security guard isn't there every night. They seem more interested in giving the residents fines, insted of actually making residence comfortable and making it a place where people want to live. If it wasn't so much to get out of a lease I probably would do it. Unless you have a lot of money I wouldn't recommend living here.
Every time I come into the Landings Leasing office I am greeted with such warm welcomes and kindness. Absalon is my favorite person! He always has a solution for all of my problems. I recommend the Landings to anyone!
I had such a good experience with Mary! She was so helpful and really helped me with questions that I had. She was great, and I will definitely be considering this place.
The landings at Chandler's is a decent place to live in. The location and the frequent 26 cata buses being the most important pros, the apartments are pretty good as well. The waste disposal and delayed response from the maintainance are the two concerned disadvantages. Overall it's a pretty good place for the students.
worst experience of the year!!!
DON NOT RENT HERE!!!
Poor Internet since Feb, never fix it.
$300 Gift card, they never grants it.
It is a good place to stay away from internet
The experience was great. And with the help from Mary, I found what I was looking for. Definitely would recommend. 10/10
i came in for a tour and Mary was super nice. she showed me around and answered all of my questions.
Super friendly employees! Brianna was especially kind to me when discussing matters for student housing!
I had a Great Experience it was a great place to live some of the management is great I talked to a guy by the name of Apsolon he made the process very painless I would recommend talking to him he was very helpfull and answered all my questions
Overall experience has been great. The staff is super friendly and helpful, especially Chris. He knows what he's talking about. Great customer service!
Poorly managed, poor quality apartments. Staff is very rude & knows very little. I have never met an employee as rude as the ones I have met here.
(Another note is that the management company CHANGED over the summer of 2020 - any reviews from before summer 2020 are referencing the previous management company Peak Campus, which did a FAR better job. The new management, Pierce Education Properties, is inept.)
They have no concern for resident safety with COVID - moved two people into my apartment without any precautions (no asking for testing, quarantine, etc.) and when asked what they would do to ensure our safety because we are in a global pandemic the "senior leasing professional" Paxton said "because they're renting the rooms they can do whatever they want." - and that is a direct quote. Also, when you enter the office, NONE of the employees are wearing masks - they only put them on as they are approaching you, yet have several signs stating that they require masks in the leasing office.
Maintenance takes weeks or months - I have a friend who waited 5 months just for a new dishwasher. When my apartment was empty over Christmas, they came to check smoke alarms and then left the apartment door OPEN for five days (until I returned and saw it) and despite me telling them several times, they haven't fixed the latching mechanism that caused the door to stay open.
They do not do anything after hours, including assist if you're locked out - despite having after hours security. They also just changed the fee for a new key (a blank plastic card with a magnetic strip) from $5 to $60. For reference to the ACTUAL worth of these cards, you can buy 50 off of ebay for $10. They have lost several of my (large-sized) packages. Their phones are always conveniently "down."
The workmanship and actual apartment quality is very poor. There are drops of paint on the floor and tables, paint on the mirror and shower, the molding doesn't fit onto the wall, and overall the entire place feels dirty and cheap. The hallway is actually crooked(???) also. There is clearly visible mold in 2 out of the 4 bedrooms. When we had two new roommates move in their rooms weren't even professionally cleaned as the apartment claims they are - two office staff came with a trash bag and a vacuum for about 10 minutes to "clean." Then, several days AFTER the two new roommates had moved in, an actual cleaning person came and became angry at my roommate for being there when they hadn't cleaned it yet. The leasing "professional" Paxton told me that she had "forgotten" about these two new residents and that that was why we were only alerted that they were coming 5 days prior.
I very strongly recommend finding a better place to live.
I have attached 3 photos - two of the mold on the walls, and one of the wall/molding to show the level of workmanship quality you can expect in these apartments.
Mary Borowski was outstanding! Such a big help, she s awesome. 10/10
I love living at The landings at chandler crossings. It feels safe, its very friendly, quiet, and most importantly clean. They put on small events like taco night and a pizza party once in awhile. Those are the small touches that make this a great place to live. I get compliments on my apartment all the time by friends and family. It is a very well established placed and I would recommend it to anyone.
Katy Wedge is so sweet and amazing. The apartments are cool! She's great!
I love living here. Everyone s friendly and the environment is very welcoming. You can tell everyone in the office cares about the ones that live here.
I have never met a more incompetent group of people. The management and office staff here is unhelpful, rude, and disrespectful. I have had several issues regarding maintenance that have not been resolved. The kitchen sink was overflowing and they told me to wash my dishes in MY bathroom sink. They do not deliver on their promises and overall this is one of the worst places to live no matter the price.
Apartments are reasonably priced and the amenities are excellent. A bit of exterior damage to some of the buildings makes them look a little rundown, but overall the quality is very nice.
Staffs are rude at all times, don't live here if you have other options. 0/5
I came in for a tour last week and Brianna and Mary were super nice and helpful! I didn't make an appointment but she dropped what she was doing to help me. I can't wait to live here next year!!
I toured the facility the other day and Mary was very helpful. She answered all of my questions and showed me around the complex. I really like the fact that I can consider a 2 BR, 3BR, or 4 BR unit. Great flexibility!
Move in Experience was so so but living here is good
Friendly helpful and courteous staff that can help with problems
Thanks Raquel
Like it does not even deserve a star. Landings' responsible of clearing out the dumpster and other stuff has become our responsibility to REMIND them when and how to do. We do not babysit you and the management is surely the worst part. Not only landings often messed up your rent and even LOSING it, but also their attitude should be nicer and less arrogant. I guess it is because Chandler Crossing has expanded larger, so they get even more arrogant. It is so hard to believe that the pet fee has become more expensive from $200 to now $300. Is it some sort of blakmailing? All in all, just try to leave here.
Straight up extortion. They charged me $200 to replace a 2 x3 medicine cabinet in my bathroom when I could ve done it myself for less than half that. Best thing is they didn t even tell me how much the replacement would cost until well after. I hope my $200 is enough to bathe in. I will have lived here for 2 years when my lease is up, I got a discount on my rent for being a veteran on my 2nd lease (this discount is no longer available) and I feel punished by surprise fees so that the leasing office gets their full rent and then some from me.
Never live here. If you do, do it for one year and get a real apartment.
My experience at The Landings at Chandler Crossings has been extravagant. If anything is ever wrong in the appartment the staff fixes it right away. None of the appliances have broken since I have lived here. The roommates that they have placed me with were a great match and all of the neighbors have been friendly.
The Landings has been a wonderful place to live. After a few problems, they were able to successfully fix them. Even when the smoke detectors battery was low and it was after maintenance hours, a staff member, Absalon Johnson came to fix it so I wouldn't have to listen to it all weekend. I would recommend this place to everyone!
This place rocks! They always have fun events going on in the clubhouse. I just got done working out and I ran into Kallie with boxes of Marcos pizza. I would definitely recommend living here or at least checking it out
I moved in August and so far my experience and living time here has been quite good actually. The prices are affordable and the overall complex is nice and well maintained. The staff is pretty cool to, Brian Odell helps me out a lot with any problems or questions that I have. I would highly recommend.
The office staff is super helpful! Katelynn was an angel answering the multiple questions I had. She knew what she was talking about and was able to help me get everything sorted out!
