BUT, their Restraunt falls short of the hotel's 5star reputation. The service was unbecoming of an establishment located in such luxurious environment. My fiancee and I was at dinner when only her ribeye came out and my salmon was nowhere to be seen. We waited for 10mins when I told my fiancee to start without me as it would shame to let her steak get cold. So I waited another 10mins before we asked about my salmon. They looked at us and had no idea we had another order. After our waiter came by offered an apology and reminded me they had a tour that evening. It took them another 5-10mins before the salmon appeared. Fishy and lukewarm. I had two bites and lost my appetite. I asked for our waiter and explained I need to speak to a manger or someone that can understand English or cantonese, as I'm an ABC from NYC. Their whole explanation was the tour. In my opinion, if they knew they have a tour that evening they should call in more staff. We should not have to remind them that half of our dinner was missing. To their credit, they did switch out the salmon for another ribeye, but it took another half an hour.
Needless to say, our hope for an amazing evening was tarnished by the poor service at the Restraunt. They need to reevaluate their wait staff in the Restraunt.

The Lalu Hotel is place to stay if you're looking relax during your to visit Sun Moon Lake in Taiwan. It's expensive, but the views are amazing; it's no wonder Chiang Kai Shek chose this place as his vantage point over the lake. Despite the praises, the Lalu is getting old, and the rooms are in need of remodeling. Much of the rooms are made of wood and the wear on them shows. I don't recommend this place for customers my age though (twenties) because you should spend time exploring Sun Moon lake rather than staying in your hotel room or having a cup of tea on the top floor or eating dinner in the delicious restaurant within the hotel. It'll get rather boring quickly. I do recommend the Lalu for customers who would rather take their time and enjoy the lake slowly. My grandfather used to just sit on the hotel room balcony from 4:00 am to lunch, enjoying the sunrise and the changing of the weather. I wish I could do that, if only I could wake up that early.
Also, the Lalu has the best breakfast (waffles) in all of Taiwan :P
