Great food, the staff was amazing, and the dining area on water was stunning!

I forgot to carry my mask and the restaurant reception, instead of denying entry, came up with an offer to sell me a mask for $20 just to enter. Such a rip off when people are dying during the pandemic. Inside, no practice to keep people socially distant.
Also, something really fishy about their fish.
The Fish Tacos made my stomach upset. I am not saying this because they rip me off to buy mask. Just sharing my experience.

Was visiting, glasses dirty.They brought replacements that were also dirty. Ordered appetizer and left.

Beautiful place. Went in for happy hour. Bar on outside deck was closed. Went to insidw bar and waited 20 minutes without ever being acknowledge or served. Bartender never looked up or spoke to us. Lady next to me asked if he was gonna wait on her and he told her there were two others ahead of her and she wasnt the only person in the bar. We left.

Some of the bartenders are rude. They seem like they don't want to be there. The guys that deliver the food to your table are very nice.

The main selling point of this place is the outdoor seating over looking lake merit. Its a lot nicer since they remodeled. Food is ok but over priced in my opinion. You pay more for the ambience

Beautiful setting on Lake Merritt. The fish tacos with gacamole we're good and big. I took one home for dinner!

Great selection of beer and Italian food with amazing views of Lake Merritt. The outdoor seating with the wood fire is perfect for date nights. Would like to see more vegetarian options in the future but the dishes they do serve were very delicious and filling. Moderate pricing but their happy hours are even more affordable if you're eating by yourself. Otherwise a party of 3 and above should be a great way to enjoy dinner. Will update review with pictures once I go back.

The view here is great and the food was good. I was there when it just opened so there really weren't any other customers but the service was still a little on the slow side. I had a cheeseburger and it was pretty good

Live music 3 to 4 full bars. Plenty of people enjoying themselves.

Slow service kept it from 5 stars. Maybe a bad evening. Definitely go again.

This restaurant is set on the lake which is beautifully lit up at night so its the perfect spot to eat and watch the sunset. You can see the lake from most spots in the restaurant (inside as well as outside).

They have a beautiful oyster bar however the oysters proved to be underwhelming. They were a bit fishy and expensive for the taste.

Over all the food was mediocre and didn't match the price tag...

Water was served in plastic cups, both the steaks we ordered were over cooked and not served warm and the drinks left a lot to be desired...

Aside from the beautiful views I would not return or reccomend this restaurant to locals or visitors.

The butterscotch dessert is their number one dessert. A must. Their chocolate cake is a must NOT. Fish tacos, calamari, and brussel sprouts are some if my favorites

We attended a private event in the banquet space. Staff and service was outstanding. Food was good, not terrific but with buffet it's difficult to assess whether due to menu selections or execution.

One of the nicest locations for a restaurant in Oakland and maybe one of the biggest. But even with the large size we had excellent service and a good meal. I left one off only because my main dish came out first and then already was not all that warm and as I waited for the others to get there food it cooled down a little to much.

I thoroughly enjoyed my time at Lake Chalet, but should point out that I paid for none of the food nor beverage - thanks Signia (hearing aid company) for the informative and hospitable training!

With that said, I can see how the location (right on the lake), decor (beautiful), and menu could keep people coming back. I did take a look at the menu and it was a bit pricey, but you're really paying for the ambiance.

Food is consistently overpriced and mediocre but you can't beat the ambiance! The patio is awesome (when the wait isn't too long)! Inside bar service can be hit or miss...

Nice atmosphere but food is nothing to write home about.

Love the happy hour. The food yum get the ribs. Take Uber or Lyft the drinks are strong. Also get there early so you can sit at a table on the lake. If you have small kids do not I repeat do not sit outside by the lake. The kids see the ducks the next thing you know my buzz is gone.

I've had enough sweetened dough in my time, but the benieghets here were something on a different level. The view was first class, the staff was well- trained, the drinks were superb. Recommended.

Let me start by saying the food here was amazing... once prepared correctly. we had the deviled eggs which were great, a steak, and a surf and turf entree, all amazing.

I booked a birthday dinner for a significant other 3 weeks in advance to secure a window seat (a must). Unfortunately the service was not what i was expecting. Out water was never refilled after originally receiving it. we had to pour our own wine the entire dinner. My medium rare steak came cold and to my knowledge, uncooked, which i sent back and was returned cooked perfectly.

the service was generally subpar we were barely paid attention to and for a medium cost dinner i was unimpressed by the quality of our server.

4 stars purely for taste and view.

Well the location is the best! The views are great and the food is good! It's not my favorite seafood restaurant but the atmosphere really is great

Four to five stars for the rest of our party, but this rating is for the very limited plant based (vegan) options, even working with the kitchen -- a green salad and the side of Brussels sprouts as the entree. Period. (We vegans came with a larger group who came for the seafood and they were very pleased with their meals).

To the chef's credit, our group's food was well prepared, although ours was inconsistent (one entree of brussels sprouts had sauce and the other did not, although both were tasty).

Every item on Lake Chalet's menu contains one or more component of meat or seafood or dairy infused into that menu choice, and do not lend themselves to being modified for plant based needs. Our waiter verified the plain green salad and brussels sprouts were the only plant based choices the kitchen could produce for us. There were no sides like a baked potato or plain pasta or plain rice or bread to work with either.

We would have expected such an upscale Bay Area restaurant to have greater options for plant-based guests. We had called a week in advance (you have to be persistent to get a return call) and were assured there would be sufficient plant based choices if we worked through our waiter when we arrived. Sadly, I cannot recommend this otherwise fine restaurant for the vegan or plant based community.

View was incredible and serene, we were right on the water, even in the restaurant! Food could have been better for the price. Wait for dock seating outside was 30-40 minutes on a Wednesday night.

Great place for day drinks, brunch, hanging by the lake or inside at the bar. The patio service is always delayed so be prepared to waaaaaaiiiiiiit.

Location! Location! Location! Fantastic views, great menu. I usually enjoy meals here but my last visit was disappointing. My house-made corned beef hash was all grizzle and fat. When I told my server she barely acknowledged my feedback. The house Bloody Mary was bitter.

Great ambiance, the ceviche ahi tuna tostadas were awesome !!

One of the best keep secrets in Oakland. If say this place is "Oakland fancy" and a great date/being your friends from out of Oakland spot.

Had to wait awhile to be seated regardless of our reservation but the food was great! Had Corned Beef, cabbage, and fingerling potatoes.....

Great place to meet for lite bites and watch a game as bar area has many flat screens.

The ambiance is great sitting outside on a warm day. I go on Taco Tuesday and have the chips and guacamole, three tacos and a margarita or two. Prices are super reasonable and they are taking this who Covid thing seriously which is a comforting. With Social distancing tables, hand sanitizer even temperature checks at the front door.

Their bus boy Javier was very rude and unapologetic. He initiated a contact with the table and pinch my wife's arm. He would not apologize instead he said he also hurt his knee by the incident. Place is great but to employ somebody like Javier is a mistake. My family and I would never come back here again because of his attitude and the way he approached our incident. He even gave us false name... he is ridiculous..

The ambiance here is great; however, the food remains mediocre at best. If you are wanting to hang on the patio for drinks, they can't mess this up but i discourage ordering anything else besides plain lettuce and bread. This place really needs to reevaluate its life and make some changes... or someone needs to stage an intervention ASAP.

Great appetizers and drinks! They have 3 different bars, we sat at the bar outside that over looks lake Merritt. Great view nice atmosphere and the staff is great. We had oysters, calamari and fish n chips all was great . Prices are good. Our friend recommended it great recommendation we will be back.

I've eaten here before...food very good, service is very good. They out-do themselves on a warm evening, music playing, people sitting outside or near open windows, they can't be beat!! Go and enjoy Lake Chalet...

Great View & Service. Would have rated 5 stars, but there was no music in background, which would have increased the overall ambiance!

Beautiful day and decidedto have lunch with my folks on the main deck by the water. It was noon and the main deck was only 3/4 full. There were at least 4 open table that can seat 4 people.

After a short wait, the hostess proceed to seat us to an area way off to the side. She said there is a 20-30mins wait for the main area so their servers can "catch up"?!

Not 5mins later, another party of 4 were seated right away in the main deck. Confused, I asked the hostess for an explanation and she gave me the same spill again.

Not satisfied with her response and attitude, I went inside and alerted the manager of my predicament. He apologized and said he will rectify the matter immediately. After a short coaching chat with the said hostess, we were reseated.

Food and services are satisfactory thereafter.

I love eating on the lake, happy hour is the best time to visit, great cocktails and incredible abiance!

Lake Chabot has great happy hours. I really like the calamari in a lavender lemon drop martini

Our waitress was great, but the food wasnt that good. The drinks were delicious! They took our temperature and social Distancing was in full effect which was a plus.

Lovely outdoor seating area and seemingly like a getaway cabin resort on the edge of the lake to admire the scenery!

It just so happens to be national tequila day and there were a few sponsored vendors at the outside area to provide samples on their tequilas. Tequila tasting for the win while waiting for seats at the bar, was a bonus!

Crowded day that day was because of the special day, wonderful warm weather and it was happy hour time!

They have fabulous lounge area, big space indoors and hosts private events! It's great for large parties! Tacos and different refined margaritas, for the win! I was nomming and drinking away. Their tostadas were crunchy and nice seafood toppings, such as halibut, shrimp and ahi tuna. Nice flavors and refreshing margaritas - manga and pomegranate were my favorite flavors!

I had some sunshine, delightful food and a pleasant walk around the lake right after! Ayce!

I think this is the first time I've been disappointed with Lake Chalet. I ordered the bucket of yard birds. The fried chicken was nice and crispy but not seasoned thank goodness I asked for bbq sauce, the macaroni salad was also not seasoned and had no salt. The best part of this meal was the corn bread with extra butter.

Great place. The food is excellent. The service is great. Great experience.
