It's ok, the crabcakes were alright. Really nice presentation, but the taste wasn't flavorful.

Beautiful setting. I ordered a rare burger, it came barely cooked. It was hard to get a server's attention, took over 5 minutes. I politely asked for it to be cooked a bit more, and it was returned to me topped with a pickle and a pubic hair. Or beard hair? I'm hoping. I won't be going back.

Gorgeous lakeside setting. Good for large groups. Go at sunset! Walk around the lake, before dark (2.5 miles). Excellent food and service. Feed the ducks (no bread - duck food only).

We had a Birthday party for our very special lady's 90th . this place was awesome, the staff, the food and the bar were all awesome. Really beautifuly placed on the lake. Loved it!

A little pricy, but nice for an occasion. The fish tacos were seasoned wonderfully. The batter on the cod was rather nice too. The burger was supposedly below par, but not my plate.

Edit: Overcharged my card by $30+ after a generous tip was also included.

Vanessa was our server and was great! She took great care of us. The food and drinks were wonderful. We will be back and tell our friends about our experience.

staff cannot keep up with the crowd, and layout exacerbates resultant service problems.

The food is quite good, especially the fish, and it's worth staying for desert. The service is also quite friendly. You can get a nice view of the lake, particularly if you are lucky enough to sit by a window, and it is beautiful even at night. We were there rather around 9 PM, and unfortunately the kitchen was already running out of some things by then.

Great food but servers need to not use there hands grabbing lemons placing them in your cup. Smh

4 star food...and a bit overpriced but the views/atmosphere make it a top pick

This is the perfect place to visit with friends from out of town or just for date night or even brunch for 2 to many.. service and view great

Beet burger is no joke! It's just like an impossible burger but with a warmth and brightness that hints at the tuberous contents. Well worth the humble price.

Long wait but if you've got time and money for a shared cocktail bottle, you can lounge comfortably and remember to slow down.

Poor service, overcooked steak, long wait time for food and service.

Service is rude and food is mediocre at best. The only thing that you're overpaying for is the view of Lake Merritt. They'll never get another cent out of me.

Good service and a few of the dishes looked good. The Steak frites and Lobster Roll looked good. The salmon was well cooked but the accompaniments seemed wet. I had a delicious burger but the grilled onions were not sweet. A bit pricey and parking is a challenge.

Food was plentiful, service was great, outside deck was scenic and peaceful.

Excellent food and wine list this time, really enjoyed the live music! Had great calimari, oysters, and also great brunch and drinks.

this place has a great view - check out the happy hour specials. fresh oysters paired with a margarita on a lake is definitely a nice way to spend the afternoon.

This is a terrible place to go for vegetarian food, but I had to go for my step-sister's graduation dinner. They had a fixed menu, and the waiter assured me up-and-down that the gnocchi was vegetarian, but it wasn't. Annoyed I went to the bar, and ordered a Springbank 15. Not only was it overpriced ($20) but it also took the guy 15 minutes to get my drink (after making us stand around for 7 minutes).

Love the location, Taco Tuesdays are a good value and service is great.

The location is great, the prices are a bit high. I don't mind paying higher prices for so-so food IF the service is great, but the service was terrible.

My friends and I ordered food from bar. I did not order last. Everybody except me got their food instantly. When everybody was done eating, I asked about my food. I saw it sitting there in the kitchen. It wasnt being touched by any staff. Who knows how long it had been there. I went in and got a refund. Still was out the tip I paid at the bar.....

Great day to be in Lake Merritt. Perfect weather, good food, weather perfect!

The food was great, but sitting in the deck means your have to wait for the wait staff to basically ruin marathon to serve you. So for example, if you need a spoon for your soup, you have to wait and wait. There is no bar service on the deck if the bar on the deck isn't open, so order your own drinks from inside and bring them with you to the deck. They have nice fire pits of it's cold where you can wait for a table- it's first come first served to sit it there. The booth style tables look comfy, but the benches are low and bolted down, I felt live a little kid stuck in a high chair; it was hard for 6 of us people to get in and out. They probably do that so no one will vandalize or throw their furniture in the lake, what a shame. Still a beautiful place with generous portions and a great view of Lake Merritt.

Great food, cool view and cheesecake that will knock your sock off!

We went here as a group. This was our 2nd time visiting. It has a beautiful view from inside and outside. It is a great place to hang out with friends. The servers were friendly but it took a very long time to get our food for the second time. We were prepared but it took even longer to be served. I took a 20 minute walk around part of the lake and returned and the food still hadn t arrived. So I walked around and took pictures.

When the food arrived, some ordered were incorrect others were lukewarm. Fortunately, my shrimp salad was good. I was happy With my meal. I appreciated being able to see meals being cooked and there was a cool bar inside and a neat environment outside that also had a bar.

I would say this is a nice place to hang out on a Friday after work for drinks and hors d'oeuvres but if you plan to eat a meal make sure you have plenty of time on a Friday or Saturday.

An unforgettable ambiance, location is out of this world. I visited this place 6 months ago and could not wait to come back, here I am again. Just lovely, tasty food n drinks too!

Service wasn't up to par this day, drinks were watered dwn, waiter couldn't remember our orders and the lady at the frt door was doing way to much

Lake Chalet was stellar. We arrived early for our reservation, and , Lou, the hostess found us a table within 15 minutes. The wait-staff was right-on-it, and pleasant. When we left, Lou even helped us find a displaced hair comb. I give Lake Chalet 5 stars!

Was decent. Sadly got our car broken into while parked, they didn't seem too concerned about it. Not safe!

Decent food, wonderful back back dock seating with a view of the lake and a comfortable bar area.

Excellent atmosphere, we're celebrating my brother in law wedding, everything was good, i will recommend it for a nice and romantic evening dinner.

Beautiful view of Lake Merritt and the food was really good.

In COVID year 0, it's nice to have a quality outdoor dining establishment on the lake. They even took extra precautions to temperature test at the door, before making sure you were able to enjoy your meal and drinks without worrying about being crowded, as social distancing was in effect.

Had the 12oz Angus steak. It was a good steak came out a lil to rare for my liking. Did not care for all the sauce and veggies on the steak but its steak so how can you not eat it. Had some ok beers. Mom and the girlfriend got the veggie Reuben and chicken salad along with cocktails and wine which they both liked. Bill was around 140 with out tip for mentioned items. Would go back.

Great place to chill out and have on a Friday afternoon.

My most recent visit: (1) showed up to sit on the deck with my wife for brunch, ignored for 15 minutes; (2) seated, ignored another 15 minutes; (3) brought coffee, poured the whole cup on me; (4) brought me a half of a cup to replace it. That was just to start - but that isn't new here. Their service has always been terrible. But the views and expensive-but-decent food and drinks have made it worth suffering through. However, for whatever reason, the food has become remarkably bad. Like "how do you screw up scrambled eggs... And are these microwave potatoes?" bad. Been there countless times, but we've finally sworn the place off for anything other than alcohol on the deck.

Loved the food! And setting! A little pricey.... lol .. But worth... every dollar.. five star! And sitting on the deck... makes it a 6 star!

Really nice location, service, and staff. Food is better than average and the menu is extensive. Flavors are a bit on the bland side for my taste but not bad. Separate menu for those with gluten limitations. Good place to take family or for groups.

Nice setting and okay drinks. Seems like a chain restaurant though. Some items tasted frozen or lacking in flavor. But good for large parties and happy hour.

This place is prime location but that is the ONLY reason they are still in business. Service is slow, food average.. just no!

Food 4 stars - very solid. Better than expected, actually. Went for brunch - all 3 entrees we had were good: corned beef hash, lobster sausage & grits, and veggie bene. Service 5 stars - our waiter had the whole outside deck and yet met our every request efficiently while providing calm, seamless service overall. I was impressed with her service of all the tables around us. View/atmosphere 6 stars (out of 5!) - outside tables are literally on Lake Merritt. If you catch a warm, sunny day in the Bay, this is a great place to be.
