Awesome sandwiches and service. It's a soulard hidden gem

We ordered the philly cheese steak and it was basically just roast beef , and it was just okay

And the Mac and cheese was not flavorful at all and not hot like it was sitting and the corn was not hot like it was sitting as well

I prob won t be back

Food is amazing and a great price. Most of the sandwiches revolve around smoked meats. You can't go wrong with any of the menu items, and there are rotating specials. I highly recommend the Ragin' Cajun or the Burley Which.

This place was ok. We had the 3 pigs sandwich (smoked ham, pork, bacon) and a salad w/ smoked turkey, avacado, and quinoa. They we're both ok but nothing special. Sandwich, salad, one beer, and a pelligrino water $28.
Friendly staff, good service, nice seating at picnic tables out front.

Add lettuce, onions, tomatoes, other toppings as needed to balance out any of the heavier sandwiches. Otherwise, amazing flavor, fair price and great spot to sit down for a minute.

Hidden gem in soulard! I want them to succeed, but I selfishly want to keep getting amazing sandwiches with a very small line...

Great neighborhood sandwich shop. Loved their meats. My sub was well prepared with juicy prime rib and fresh herbs. Smoked potato salad side was perfect complement.

Saturday Oct 14th Sandwich Club STL visited The Wood Shack Soulard. Tucked away in a quiet corner of the historic neighborhood you will find a real gem. We arrived around one ish, just after midday on a warm and sunny autumn afternoon.The first thing we noticed upon approaching this establishment is the wonderful aroma of all things smoked.We knew we were in for a real treat. We managed to find a table inside that sat 8 of us comfortably. All the outside tables were occupied. This gave us a chance to enjoy the decor inside with its rustic homely charm. With much anticipation and high expectations we already studied the menu on line before we even arrived. I think we all had our hearts set on what we were going to order. As per-say a special order menu can throw your whole game off. I didn't see one on display but that doesn't mean it didn't exist. We ordered at the front counter with a lovely young lady that was friendly and helpful. I always like to see a person that enjoys their job it adds to the whole experience. I ordered The SOULARD PRIMER
hot, hand-cut hickory & mulberry-smoked prime rib, bone-marrow aioli spread, charred onion, arugula, blue cheese cream on a French roll with a side of mac & cheese. My wife ordered THE DELGADO
BBQ shrimp po boy, pimento slaw, onion, barrel-aged Worcestershire on a French roll with Creole BBQ butter sauce on the side. She got the SMOKED CREAMY POTATO SALAD as her side. The other group members ordered THE RAGIN' CAJUN
maple pecan turkey breast, bourbon bacon jam, havarti cheese, avocado, lettuce, tomato, creamy pink peppercorn dressing on a French roll and a MULE KICK
spicy rubbed mesquite & pecan-smoked pork butt, cotija cheese, baja slaw in a sun-dried tomato wrap.
The Orders came out quickly even know they seemed busy.
Where do I start ? My Soulard Primer was excellent. The meat was smokey and tender with a nice bite on a soft roll. The portion size was perfect. I got to my surprise what my wife called a side of debris ( like au jus ) but better. My server suggested i put a little of my debris in with my side of mac & cheese so glad I did.
I also got to have a bite of my wife's DELGADO sandwich. Probably the best shrimp po boy I have ever tasted. The shrimp was seasoned just right with a nice savory flavor with a tad of spice.Nothing greasy just crispness.
Our other members seemed to thoroughly enjoy their pick too.

Ordered sandwiche but was so messy I had to eat with fork. Very over priced for service and food.

The Rajun Cajun was very good but I just feel like it was very small bout the size of jimmy johns, definitely not as big as Subway, don t feel like it should be 10 -12 bucks, you do get a side I got the Mac n cheese

Just tried Wood Shack for the first time. We will be returning soon! The Rajun Cajun was my choice today but there are so many options. Everything was fresh and delicious. Really appreciated how friendly the owners was. Do yourself a favor and go!

Finally some food with flavor. Very quiet laid back relaxing environment. Food was really good and reasonably priced. Will definitely be back.

This little place has THE best food ever. Everything from the Smoked Meats, to the potato salad, to all of the fresh ingredients and sauces they use in their dishes, as well as the deserts! VERY well done guys :-)

OMG. Ranks in my top 5 "best sandwich" I have ever eaten in my years on Planet Earth. Please don't go there. I hate to wait in line for Perfection between two slices of bread.

Wonderful smoked sandwiches. Pork in so many tasty combinations The mac and cheese is also undescribably delicious. The shrimp po boy is one of the best that I have ever eaten.

Had the roast beef po boys. Was really good. Meat was done perfectly, bread was fresh and soft. We will definitely be back again. Loved to the atmosphere as well.

We were sadly not super thrilled with the Wood Shack. We saw the great reviews and were hopeful, but we didn t think the food was all that great. It was average bar food at best, which is fine when you re in the mood for that. All in all it was just fine .

Best lunch menu around - and now with weekend brunch!

Smoked meats are the primary focus of the sandwiches here, along with not often thought of ingredients. Avocado spread, cheese curds, asparagus, fried plantains, cherry compote, and other wildly fantastic combinations. Chicken, beef, and pork done in the styles of Carolina BBQ - Cajun - Jerk and other flavor profiles. The cuts of meat are different and unique, they use thigh meat from chicken, sirloin, brisket, Chuck roast. Not just boring sliced deli meat.

They have a diverse beer selection with a Happy hour that beats most bars.

Sunday brunch is a thing here too, especially nice on the patio on a quiet Soulard side street. CHICKEN AND WAFFLES!!

We found this gem on our date night. I highly recommend it. We have the 3 cheesey Piggy'sa soulard beef. Mac and cheese was really good as was the potato salad! service was awesome Definitely coming back soon.

Great family-owned business in the heart of Soulard. Portions are modest but filling, could be bigger for price.

Doing my favorite thing, google maps roulette. Type in resturants near me and give one a try. And I wasn't disappointed. The staff was great and welcoming. We had the 3 cheese pig and the Raging Cajun with the smoked potato salad and the pasta salad. Alot of flavor, the smoked meat was perfect. we will definitely be back.

Went for burger week. The place itself and the food presentation were basic and simple, but the flavors really stood out and the server was friendly. We will be back -- we want to try the prime rib sandwich!

The quality of the sandwiches here are amazing. I've gotten the Delgado with both the pasta salad and the mac & cheese and it truly is to die for. Also the decor is like a homey wood shack, which makes sense given the name. A great little gem in the middle of Soulard.
