Food is unimpressive. Communication with manager and events coordinator is horrible. It's a beautiful location, but poorly organized.
This restaurant has done a great job with take out since Covid has shut down in house dining. We have ordered several take out dinners and now look forward to going there once a week for our take home dinner. The salmon and crab cakes have been delicious! We have always enjoyed sitting on their deck in the summer and look forward to the time this can happen again. I hope we can help support them stay afloat until this crazy time is under control!!
As was previously stated they seem overwhelmed; Mothers Day Prix Fixe menu 4:00 pm reservation for 3. 1 hour wait for appetizers, 2 cups of soup 1 salad, did not receive any attention during the wait. I guess the snapping turtle put up a real fight. The restaurant seems well staffed with waiters so I have to believe the issue was in the kitchen, as it was never even half full including the deck from 4:00pm to 6:30pm when we left. Nice view the food was edible don t need to go back.
Amazing food and wonderful stuff would go there again
My cousin was visiting from Nashville Tn. on May 8th 2015 We were both first timers. The food was awesome and our waitress was the best waitress we have ever had. she and the great food, made for a dinner we will never forget. Our waitress name was Michelle and we thank Kitty Knight House and Michelle for a wonderful evening.
P.S. the Delmonico steak was killer with asparagus and baked potato
Small portions, nothing special and expensive; nice historic building and nice staff
The location is perfect, with beautiful views. The service was great, and the live music was wonderful. The food, however, was average o(below overall), which means it's not worth returning unless we just go for drinks, and maybe a crab cake. Six of us had a variety from the menu - appetizers, main dishes, and desserts. The only items we would rate good were the fish tacos and crab cakes.
Nice, cozy, atmosphere for a cold night. The menu had a nice selection. We had the Tavern burger and Butternut Squash Arugula salad. Both were very good. Only French fries were overcooked. Service, Shelby, was excellent.
We went with two other couples last night. I must say the French onion soup is delicious! My husband ordered an orange crush which I had to take back to the bar to get a new one because he said it was not good at all. The food was overall good but not hot. I wish there were more choices for sides and more choices for desserts. Or be able to get a side salad in place of a side. It took a good hour or so to get our dinners. If we go back, I would sit at the bar and order French onion soup and have a few beers, no drinks.
We were a party of two for late lunch on a beautiful Friday afternoon. It was during COVID limited occupancy, so reservations are *required* on Fridays and Saturdays. For appetizers we had the watermelon crudo which was fresh and sweet, and the French onion soup which was tasty and less salty than most.
For main courses, we had the crab cake sandwich with truffle fries and the jambalaya. The sandwich was very good. The cake was all crab meat (no filler) and the sauce very tasty. However, the fries were already on the cold side when they were brought to the table, and not very "truffly." The jambalaya had great flavor, and was loaded with seafood, but lacked heat (meaning it was not spicy) as I would have expected.
For dessert, we shared the apple crisp. It was good.
Service was attentive and friendly. Atmosphere was lovely. Overall, I would recommend.
Holiday work party. Food was great, beautiful atmosphere, great staff.
Slow night and dinner was cold. But nice atmosphere for a drink and social event.
Seemed very festive when we were there to put reservations in. They had live entertainment! But we made other plans and did not go in. But it was crowded... So I guess that would tell you something.
Recently went there for our first time- great atmosphere, and delicious food!
Slow inexperienced staff. Was there for brunch and they were out of special item menue item. Mgt did remove a cold bad meal, but I would wait till they get organized and trained.
The view is beautiful, the waiter was attentive but the Thanksgiving Buffet was overpriced at almost $40 a person, the food was basic and flavorless.
Was there Saturday night. Despite the rain, had a great time. The place looks so nice. You can tell the new owners have put a lot of heart and effort into it. I was so impressed with the staff. Super friendly and fun. The band, Hung Jury, was awesome. Loved the food from Rick's Cafe - get the totchos! My bf and I stayed overnight. Just a really lovely stay. Definitely will be back - want to hang out on The Deck. Beautiful view!! Love the small-town feel - you feel like family.
food and beverages are out dated. flies everywhere. could use a good clean and maintenance. owner ralph is rude and disrespectful. bills are way behind, and there is no air conditioning for workers. people sweat and chafe all day long.
The location is wonderful. The waitress was great! The food was average.
Great Brunch! Fabulous Staff! Great place to stop after camping!
I want to give a bad review. I want this place be my place to go..I dont want it busy. But. Great music from Alex and his daughter. Food was nothing different but good. Views, excellent, staff friendly and accommodating. I would like to visit the Inn as a getaway...
Pre-opening, we had accommodation at the Kitty Knight House while our catamaran was on the hard at the Yacht Basin. Our room was comfortable & convenient, the staff was friendly & flexible & we thoroughly enjoyed our one month stay on the Eastern Shore. We had a front seat to all the work that went into the re-opening & wish Sueanne, her family & staff every success in their venture. This place is a treasure.
my husband and I were looking for a night away in a historic venue and decided to stay at the Kitty Knight House. We had dinner at the tavern which was good but it took longer than it should have for food, drink, and service for the price we paid. Our view at the Inn was beautiful but one thing was missing, hot water in the shower.
Great food, great service and great atmosphere. Definitely going back.
Awesome.. Staff and even other guests made the night very enjoyable!
Great experience outside on the deck for dinner. Staff are still new but did a great job. Live acoustic music and tables w umbrellas. Good atmosphere
Went for Sunday Brunch. Food was delicious and price was very reasonable.
Service was unusually slow. Food was good. We were not wowed. Not worth the price. The view of the Sassafras River is awesome.
Super double wow. This place is a must try.
We could not stop eating and trying everything on the menu. A great drink list to add to the awesome food options. The old bay dipping sauce is to die for. Just go you will love it.
Ran out of a lot of stuff. Not very well organized. We will be back, just not for a while.
The place is amazing and spacious, the meals was delightful and the rates were very fair. fast, productive service and very friendly waiters. Highly recommended.
We had a great dinner last night, with an excellent view of the water. Live music was an added bonus. Orange crushes were amazing, good drink selections. The red snapper and risotto were tasty, well seasoned and I thought the proportions were great. Plus they were very compliant with COVID regulations. Would like to see more vegetarian options.
Wonderful place to visit! Great deck and entertainment
Food, drink and service were excellent. Love the pandemic punch
Great restaurant on RT 213 on the Sassafras River. In between Galena (Kent co.) & Cecilton (Cecil co.). In Winter or over the other 3 seasons, great views, food, and everyone is very friendly. The locals go here.
The service was really poor. We sat for a long time (20 minutes) and didn't seem to have a waitress. Lots of little things made this lousy including something nasty stuck to the glass when we did finally get a waitress, no drink refills (because the waitress never came back except to bring the check), bad tasting well water, food that was cold and not that great to begin with. It is too bad because the location is nice and with some organization, it could be a nice restaurant. As it is, we won't be going back.
Places a lot of fun. Even better if you know the owners the kitty is coming back
Food was not very good. Venue was great, service was good, entertainment was on point.
Finally after 2 years if trying to dine here we made it when it was open. Great food, great view, great atmosphere!
The Kitty Knight House is fabulous.
My husband and I celebrated our wedding weekend with our close friends and relatives in September and Angie, the event coordinator, and the staff at the Kitty Knight House were amazing.
We initially booked our venue in January of 2012 and planned an April 2013 wedding date. In the early fall of 2012 we discovered that we needed to change our date and Angie was incredibly accommodating and we were able to change our date to September 2013 with ease. This was a true indication of the service this venue operates with. Over our wedding planning process and our wedding weekend the staff was AMAZING!
The venue is beautiful. The waterfront setting and views are unmatched by any of the venues we looked at for our ceremony and reception. Although it is approximately 90 minutes from Baltimore, the distance is worth the views and experience.
Not only are the views amazing, but the food is delicious. We chose to have a buffet styled reception and we received great feedback from our guests regarding the quality of the food. Not only is the food delicious, but the portions were appropriate and did not leave anyone feeling hungry!
My husband and I along with our immediate family were able to stay at the Kitty Knight House over our wedding weekend. The staff again was incredible and the included breakfasts are delicious. We were even entertained with a little historical background of the Inn while we ate.
Overall, the venue truly exceeded my expectations. I felt like a true bride and the Kitty Knight House served as a beautiful location that left our guests amazed and impressed. I would recommend this venue to anyone looking for a waterfront venue.
