All beautiful;

All beautiful;
But nothing functional.
I recommend it to modern fashionistas. . .a family does not roll!
The rooms seem to be for singles!

The room was poorly designed and nothing seemed to make sense. Why was there a cabinet 8ft high? There were instructions in my room for things that just didnxt exist (bluetooth speaker, jacuzzi, etc). The light buttons to control the lights made little sense. Window blinds wouldn't hold themselves open. It seems that the AC resets itself each day. There was a bed.. so they had that going for them.

Head up, they also charge an extra $25 per night if you book through a third party.

Service was beyond excellent and every staff member I interacted with was very friendly and helpful. Special shout out to Denzel at the front desk!!

Regarding the room itself, I loved the unique design and nice touches like the storage under the bed. Tech wise, it was really well thought out, the room had power plugs and cables to charge your iPhone or Android. The bluetooth connection to the TV was awesome as well and was the first thing I setup! :)

Will definitely be coming back!

After a 10 min hold, we we're finally able to ask about booking a room. After finding out that 3rd party has a lower offer, he lowered the price but then informed us about the hidden fees for parking. Not impressed by service or price.

Having seen the show on Hotel Hell. I thought when I came here for business I would stop by to stay. Hoping it was transformed as it said on TV. However I was sourly disappointed. The rooms were terrible and some of the staff was rude.

The location in the Gaslamp District was great. The employees were friendly. The hotel however smells very musty and there are no amenities such as pool or fitness center (there is one but laughable at best).

Unfortunately my stay was pretty unpleasant. Room 2D is directly over a bar that plays very loud music until 1AM. This vibrates the entire room and makes it impossible to sleep. I ended up with a fever for 2 days and couldn t get rest I needed.

Suggestion: Room 2D should be converted into a real fitness centers. A few Peloton bikes and treads and you will have some happy customers.

If anyone gets room 2D, refuse it.

It was ok. We got an email request if we would like a room upgrade, we said yes but when we checked in to the hotel we noticed our room was not upgraded, I talked to the manager and she said that we would have received an email conformation which was a little misleading. One of the sink faucets was broken, the widows did not really seem to work. They charged me twice on my card, when I called the first time and mentioned it to them after my stay the lady I talked to said that it was a credit I was receiving back. I checked my back account again and still saw that charge and I called again and they said they did not see the second charge on their account. After I spoke to the manager they were finally able to credit my money for the double charge on there mistake. I was hoping they would be a little more organized when it came to their accounts and information upon customers but apparently not.

My friend stayed here , she said the tub was disgusting, the sheets were dirty and the decorations were just dreadful. Whomever decided red would be a good choice should reconsider their choice, it looks like a five year old designed it, and as for the room it looks like a waiting room and isn't very welcoming.

Sadly I only wish I could give "No stars," Places look like my 12 year old designed it. A drunk mentally unhinged 12 year old who has a dysfunctional family and is in desperate need of therapy. The owner should go back to selling cars. Thankfully I was just a guest and didn't have to pay because I would have not bothered to be there.

This hotel bills itself as luxury which is frankly a HUGE LIE. it s mediocre at best. Carpet in hallway is gross, room is tiny, fitness center is a joke. Coffee machine looked dirty and I didn t want to use it. My pillowcase had a hole in it (luckily I brought my own). Furthermore, you could hear noise from the street. Whether it was partygoers, street power washers, or trash pickup, it was endless. Not only that, but they charge you a $25 resort fee PER DAY. They also charge a $50 early check in fee. I love supporting independent hotels but in this case I really regretted not staying at the Hilton.

Really great location, great price for the night we stayed. It was our engagement mini vacation and they bumped us up to a mini suite for no charge that was awesome. Service was amazing. Rooms very clean and very very unique for sure. We'll be staying there again soon.

The worst hotel ever! The hotel seems a psychiatric hospital. Red moquette, intermittent lights and dark furniture make you feel in a horror movie. Bed sheets are dirty and you can find hair and body hair but the worst thing is that towels are dirty of blood. The receptionist is arrogant and he did nothing to help us. Parking costs 49 dollars per night and the neighborhood is full of homeless people, closed shops and smell of pee.

Front desk staff was absolutely wonderful upon checkin and every day during our five day stay. Room doesn't have any seating other than the bed. However it was a nice surprise to find a curtain that could conceal you whenyou took a shower since there is no shower door. Very modern hip feel. Beds were extremely comfortable. Wonderful location, central to everything and only about a 10 min walk to the convention center which was our purpose for staying in San Diego. Front desk clerk gaveus stone history of the gas lamp distric and the hotel which were found fascinating. Overall I would stay again!

This was my second stay at The Keating. The rooms are a bit small, but they're unusually designed and sure to impress. The double hinge windows are a surprise but also very cool.

Everything is a bit unusual. The tv/stereo system feels like it's from another time, but offers wireless music connectivity. The lighting controls are odd. The water fixtures make sense but are unusual as well.

It's a great hotel with a truly unique style, and worth checking out if you're staying in the Gas Lamp area.

Was in town for AHIP 2018 conference being held at the San Diego convention center. Excellently located hotel. 12 minute walk from the conference center. Very spacious rooms and high end amenities. My favorite thing was the Harmon Kardon (forgot how to spell it) Bluetooth sound system. Made showering in the glass rainfall shower feel surreal. 5/5 would recommend.

Style is with doubt the focus of the hotel and the result is a sub standard experience at the moment. I have no doubt with time they'll get it right though. Some examples.

- This is the Gaslamp district and so is loud and bustling through until 2/3am. Given the expense spent on buying B&O HDTV's and Wall mounted stereos (BeoSound 1 on the wall and BeoVision 4) a little double glazed windows to block the sound would seem like a minor expense.
- The Lavazza coffee machine is great but providing one coffee and one tea for a room being occupied by two smacks of an immaturity in running a hotel.
- Providing a beautiful rain shower in room but not refilling the toiletries when they run out.

Without doubt this is a lovely hotel (great bed, double sinks in room, friendly staff) with a lot of potential, right in the heart of the gaslamp district but until they get some of the basics right I imagine other guests will be left feeling slightly disappointed.

The hotel has a great location in the heart of the Gasslamp Quarter. The rooms are unusual and may not be to everyone's taste. My wife was not a fan of the carpetless, painted, concrete floors. The staff, on the other hand, was superb at every turn. 5 stars for those guys.

Great location, walking distance to everywhere. Although room is very odd, they are trying to be super "modern" and the shower is basically out in the open so you either have to be by yourself when you shower or be comfortable with guests.

Decor is uber sleek/modern - almost too much so. The glass shower stall is open to the rest of the room - awesome for couples; not so much for families. Service was friendly enough. However the room didn't have an iron (odd in such an expensive property). I asked to have one brought up and they did so ... without an ironing board. An odd oversight. The biggest con for me: the noise from the club downstairs. Until at least 2 o'clock in the morning, it was like a DJ was spinning techno beats from my bathroom. If you're coming for the nightlife, this isn't a problem. I was coming off a 10 hour flight, so for me it was.

The service here was excellent. Not much of a view (our penthouse suite looked directly at another building), but the location was perfect. Really enjoyed the thick complimentary robes and the shower (waterfall and normal style!) plus the bluetooth sound system for playing our own music.

This was a truly great experience! The Keating is a modern hotel in an old, historic building. The room was filled with modern gadgets and conveniences that really spoke to the tech lover in me. Each member of the staff was extremely friendly and made us feel we were in a fancy place. The only complaint is very minor. The remote for the TV didn't work. Even the replacement they brought was limited and couldn't shut it off. But the rest of the stay was so great that I'm not going to let such a small thing ruin the experience. Five stars!

It may be that we're not hip enough to "get it", but when designing this hotel, they apparently chose form over function every time. The floor is concrete to give it a cool warehouse/garage feel, but that means that the floor is cold and the sound reverberates in the room. The shower is translucent and has no door, which means you can't have guests over (or even room service delivered) if you might be in the shower. The sinks look cool, but were too far back for my 5' wife to use. The bathroom door slides closed, except you can't quite close it all the way because it hits the base molding. The hallways are painted entirely black, which makes it feel very dark when you leave your room, even in the middle of the day. And maybe we shouldn't have been trying to sleep before 2 AM, but the bass from the club thumps all the way up to the top floor, making it a bit tough to sleep. On the plus side, the staff was very friendly and helpful.

Loudest room ever! Between the noise from the jazz/blues club next door and the rowdy hotel residents don't expect a full night's sleep. The hotel is def boutique and has a hip feel, but that also attracts a younger, party crowd. Business traveler beware!! Would only stay here if in town to party until the early AM and pass out. If that's what you're doing, this is the place for you. Room was large and decor very modern, hip. Location is great.

[Hotel Response was the Front Desk Manager "Reached Out" - This is inaccurate, no one ever reached out to contact me. Pleas see below concerning my reaching out to the Front Desk Manager - there are also no "conversations currently being had" - this is simply intended to mitigate a review one month after it was provided]. Horrible experience. Stayed in a suite and stepped on broken glass that was left in the room. Foot was cut open and bleeding on the floor. It took 10 minutes to reach someone at the front desk and another 15-20 minutes for them to send a housekeeper with some first aid supplies. I checked out and requested a call from a manager. The call never came. I called later that afternoon and the front desk manager said he had "been away for 3 days and had more important things to handle so hadn't been back to me". I requested a call from an ops manager or GM but the call never came. I sent 2 emails to RAR Hospitality, the hotel management company, but a response never came. I tracked down the GM's email and emailed. I received a response back that the GM had changed and that the new GM would get back to me. This GM then got back to me after 5-6 further days (11 days after the incident) and really had nothing to say other than that they had a communication breakdown with the departure of the prior GM. I stay in hotels (generally Marriott) 100+ nights per year, never had even remotely close to such an experience and have now been limping around for nearly the last 2 weeks during Summer vacation with the family with a cut on the bottom of my foot.

Service is phenomenal. The staff are fantastic. The room is great, bed is comfy, really love the shower, and the location is ideal. I'm only giving it four stars because the valet parking is very expensive. It was just an unintended expense that caught us off guard since we didn't see it on their website.

Loved this hotel! Right in the middle of restaurants, eateries, pubs, theaters. Very nice accommodations and staff was excellent. Room was beautiful, very comfortable, had all amenities that I wanted. Cocktails when we arrived, no charge. Excellent experience. Only drawback was the street was loud at midnight, and garbage trucks woke us up early next am.

Horrible, horrible experience. I will never ever come here again. When I came they got my ROOM NUMBER wrong and I was sent to the wrong room!! I ordered food to my room but it was all wrong and I got charged twice for asking for my proper order. When I went to shower the water was yellow for the first 3 minutes. I will never come here again and would not advise anyone to do so.
