Stayed 2 nights. It was wonderful they had jazz playing as we entered our room. And just was in love. The shower head was broken so I had to use the waterfall shower head that's on the ceiling. The room gets very hot so keep the air on all night. The housekeepers are loud in the halls but it's not their fault thin walls. The valet parking is way over priced especially since they are just parking your car in the malls structure. On the final morning as we packed to leave we had to remove the bedding to locate a missing jewel boy what we revealed was just disgusting. It was lime a child peed on the bed and someone clipped a toenail and left it
The staff waved the resort fee bit that was not Enon since 4 two days I've been lying on dirty sheets. Should have been a free night. Plus one of our towels had yellow mess on it too. I would return buy I'll bring my own bedding and shower shoes

If you stay at this hotel, you will get your money's worth.

Pro's: The rooms are fantastic, especially the Imperial suites which are not that much more per night than the basic rooms. All staff was really friendly and accommodating. Location is absolutely great with tons and tons of restaurants within walking distance.

Cons: Parking is a bit troublesome. They have valet parking for around $30 per night and you can come and go as you please. The public parking garage at the end of the street is $48 per night. Ugh.

Everything was nice, but the room was very cold and sterile looking. Stainless steel everywhere. Looked like the morgue. Great location and friendly staff. Great bar with live music directly next door.

Stayed with my wife for two nights. We were "all set" after check out and still the Hotel charged us twice ($228 and $28) for no reason a couple days later. I called in twice and even sent an Email to the General Manager (no reply) that we wanted our money back. We were told that we had soda and candy from the minibar =$28 (which we didn't even touch). They did not even tell us why they charged the $228! No refund yet although we were told 2 days ago that they would do so. I would not recommend staying there.

My experience here was fantastic. Met by a very friendly and professional staff which was nice after a long flight from Miami. The room itself I would describe as swanky being a modern, yet very clean room which I enjoyed. The location was walking distance to a few great places to eat recommended by the staff. I will definitely stay here again next time in San Diego!

The rooms are big, but the cleanliness leaves a lot to be desired. We had a small bed on the first night with a much too short blanket for 2 persons. The rooms are very noisy and it is very loud from the street until early in the morning. The location in the center is good and you can reach everything on foot. Price / performance ratio too high.
A hotel for young backpackers who wants to spend the night with loud music and can stay in bed long. Nothing for business people or conference participants in the nearby conference center.

Terrible WiFi, like totally unusable. Way too many broken and run down furnishings. Very, very noisy. Entire hotel is dated and poorly designed. Lots of dust, grime and dirt on tops of closets, under beds etc. Pretty gross. Room was not ready until three and half hours past check in. Decent location. Unable to print or email receipts.

Great location with many restaurant choices in walking distance. Courtesy reception. The internal deco of the room is pretty unique and "boutique". Not five star as I would personally prefer more polishing in furnishing. For example, room has painted cement floor instead of carpet or wood floor; there is no light control nearby bed.

The stay was great but if i was with kids or friends, i will feel uncomfortable because the shower was open for all to see but with a loved one it was absolutely fantastic with a future tech feel.

This place was awesome. We ended up in the hot tub suite, which was killer. The room was extremely large, with concrete floors, (which was perfect for our puppy). The jacuzzi was on an outside patio. Shower was open, like most of the rest of the place. Although higher scale, still very inviting and homely feeling.

I stayed in Suite C on the second floor. Loved my stay! The concierge was very nice. The room was neat! You can hook your phone up to the TV Bluetooth to play your own music and the shower has a rainfall shower head. The best part is it's right next to Horton Plaza.

.... what to say

.... what to say

Very Pricey and every morning it smells of ax body spray. At first glance, I think it might have been Paul Manaforts VIP prison cell.

Let me explain the prison cell reference. The floors are paint concrete. Two sinks that are stainless steel. Shower in the middle of the room. Mirror on the ceiling by the sinks, why? I have no clue.

To be honest, as a hostel it might be a nice place, as a boutique hotel, it s just mediocre. For the price this week, SDCC, it is down right terrible. Dirty, like really dirty. Worn, everything showed sign of neglect and wear - TV did t work. And, super noisy all the time.... and use that s a toe nail or something on the dirty floor.

Stay here if it s cheap. If it s during SCCC, book somewhere else way in advance.

Cheers!

Hotel was cool, there is a bar downstairs the Coyote Ugly that you'll hear at night. But the noise is tolerable located right in downtown and the place is nice. The fees aren't properly communicated what the heck is a boutique experience fee. Experience getting more money squeezed out of you. Don't book through Expedia. Desperately wanted to leave a good comment but they double charged us on a valet fee and the extra boutique fees after the trip leaves a bitter taste. It's like having good food than it gets you sick.

For an expensive and fancy styled hotel, it was underwhelming. First room was not as advertised (hot tub in room...was outside as some old spa repurposed). Then we switched rooms and there was old stains off someone else's naked butt rubbed/inprint on the couch. Paid more for that room too, ridiculous.

If you love tubs, this is the hotel for you. We've stayed here three times, and we have our eyes on the scotch suite for a birthday celebration next year as well. We absolutely love their suites, particularly their soaking tubs. The first room we stayed in we enjoyed so much that we went back for a second time three months later. Our third stay was in a different room with an outdoor spa tub which was lovely. I would highly recommend this kind of room on a cold night, because I believe it'd be a bit wasted on a hot summer evening. I'd also recommend bringing tea light candles if you stay in that specific room. They don't provide them (even though they show them in the photos) and they really make the spot exceptionally romantic. I will say I think the service over the past three years has gone down a little bit. Not to the point that we love the hotel any less, but to the degree that it is noticeable. Our first two trips they greeted us in the lobby with glasses of champagne, offered to take our luggage, and provided us with guided tours of our room. Our third trip they checked us in but didn't do any of these things, which I considered additional treats for staying in a nice boutique hotel. It should also be noted that it can be loud here in the late night hours because of surrounding bars and clubs, so if you need to get to bed before midnight, you may want to look elsewhere. Outside of that, the suites are still spectacular and 100% worth it!

My wife and I split our trip to SD into 2 days here, two days on Mission Beach and 2 days at La Jolla. It was a great way to explore the city. I ran from different locations every morning, and then we explored what SD had to offer during the day. Perfect location to explore downtown restaurants, SD bay, the outdoor mall, and Balboa park (zoo, gardens, museums). We used Uber to move around instead of renting a car for more distant locations and this worked out great.

We chose this property for the central downtown location. You can reach a million restaurants within a half mile radius. I ran in the morning to Balboa park and Embarcadero. We liked the hotel itself fine. The room was modern, quirky and fun. There was plenty of storage under the bed. The espresso machine in the room was nice. The tech in the room was state of the art circa 2005, but who cares. Turn down service includes a few chocolates every night. A few minor negatives - no bedside lights, barebones services (you can get what you need close by), and very slow elevator. Downtown noises are unavoidable, but not a big deal on a Tuesday and Wednesday night.

Perfect hotel! Me and my family came here a while back and 5 other times, and it was amazing. I have been to better hotels, but this hotel is the best in ALL of USA in my opinion. The people here are sooooo friendly, and it has such a modern and cool design, my parents even got inspired a bit for their new house from this hotel. I would give the food a 10 out of 10, service 9 out of 10, and the room quality 9 out of 10. I honestly loved this place and will be recommending it to many of my friends.

Service was excellent. The room is designed in a modern decor. The only thing I didn't like was the band's playing downstairs at the bar but that's what earplugs are for and, it's the gaslamp district so there is going to be noise at night.

Sparse furnishings, old dated furniture, stains everywhere, dirt all over the place, and the bed was horrible on so many levels. Also, what's with all the red??!! The 90's called and they want their hotel back. Edit: to the person from the hotel that replied; the name on my YouTube profile is not my actual name. Kind of thought that was obvious. There is nothing to address as the issues are easily fixed and there is no explanation that can change how things were.

Great boutique hotel in the heart of the gas lamp district. the hotel is clean and you can upgrade to a suite for a reasonable price. Suites are large. you will want to invite guests. Staff very friendly and willing to help. the hotel is above cafe 21 (great restaurant for breakfast, lunch and dinner with a unique menu). if you are on the 2nd floor they actually have white noise speakers to drown out the noise from the streets. I really like the place and will definitely go back. great place with a fun ambiance at at reasonable price.

Very nice boutique hotel in the Gaslamp. Well located, close to everything. I stayed there for 3 nights during a busy time (2 conventions in town). Staff was great, they brough 2 fedex packages up to my room for me very promply, and they helped me hail a cab on my way out. One day my room was not made up at 3pm when I returned from my conference, but the hotel was sold out that day, so I will cut them some slack for that. It was made by the time I returned later that evening. The elevator is slow, but I understand it is a very old historic building, so again not the biggest deal. I did ask for a quiet room on check-in, and they did accomodate me with a room that worked out just fine. Very modern finishes and furniture, a nice touch. Great for a business traveler or a weekend/short couples getaway. Probably not as good for family w/kids, due to the room size & the open showers etc.

I usually only review when I have a positive experience and that's because most people only review when they have a negative experience. This hotel was exceptional. The lobby was a little meh but my room was fantastic. Gorgeous, stylish, eclectic and fun! The service was also incredible. I received a text message after check in that offered assistance on wifi and hotel info. I was already out at dinner and I texted back asking if they could check my room to make sure I unplugged my curling iron... I had left it on and they fixed it for me. That allowed me to relax and enjoy my dinner. Keep in mind this hotel is boutiquey (which I enjoy) so it's very different than staying at a chain hotel... I loved it!

Nice vintage decor of a 1890- building in the center of the city. BUT.... when a CROCKROACH crawled around my laptop in the morning, the stay took a bad turn. I saw two and caught one with an espresso cup. The front desk was all nice and apologetic.
But the manager was clearly not. When informed, he immediately told me that they had done all they can and sprayed everywhere(pesticides, clearly still not sufficient) and I will need to pay my room whatever( I did not even mentioned about not paying.... it is a business trip in the end). The attitude was just rude and extremely immature. Well, be aware of the ROACHES if you still chose to stay. The outdated shower and light system, the water-stained coffee machine, and the not-so- fresh carpet are also true.
