First time at The Joyce this evening and I got to see Michelle Dorrance and her company. The stage floor was very well mic'ed. The theater itself is rather small, but that is what makes it so great; no matter where you are seated, it feels like an intimate experience. Would absolutely go to The Joyce again

I arrived late, so I had to stand during the performance (my fault, of course), so I was pleasantly surprised that I was able to see the stage so perfectly from the standing room area.
I'm convinced that there are no bad spots from which to see the stage.
The staff is so nice, by the way.

One of the best dance theaters around. The independent companies that perform there are amazing and no seat is bad. You can often meet the dancers at the end of the show on the lower level, take selfies, or just chat

No matter Orchestra Seats or the Seating at the end of the Auditorium every seat is a good seat at the Joyce. This is the perfect place to view dance in America.
Easily accessible to E or A train and all Chelsea busses.
Always great places to eat after performances.
The Joyce staff is always cheerful and happy to help you get seated and Enjoy the shows.
Full bar downstairs and light refreshments.
If you are waiting for someone who is performing the green room gives you closed circuit live viewing of the stage outside the dressing rooms.
Special seating, wheelchair and hearing impaired devices are also available.
Evening shows usually begin at 8 p.m.. Matinee on Saturday depend on the performance.

Great venue for dance with good sight lines from every seat. Caught Dorrance Dance holiday Program A. Still showing why she won a MacArthur Genius award for original tap works. High energy and great skill.

We came to see the Trocks and the Theater never explained that family matinee means a program change until after the program changed. The box office gave us Management's email who then heard our issues and apologized. I might bump this up to five stars if next time goes better and it was just a rough day. Thanks, Joyce Theater.

I adore this theater. So happy that I have been able to expose my teens to great dance. They love it too! Helps that my mom's name was Joyce so I feel a connection with her each time we visit! T-shirts all around!

Intimate, well-designed and well-maintained theater. We recently saw Ib Anderson's "Play" performed by Ballet Arizona here and sat in the $10 first row seats (available by advance phone order), which allowed us a surprisingly decent view (except for the brief moments when the dancers laid flat on the stage).

we saw a ballet performance here. I had never been here before, (and frankly didn't know it existed) but I was very impressed with the venue. Good size, very good sight lines, comfortable seats. I will be on the lookout for future offerings.

I attended the performance of the Hong Kong Ballet, which was modern and beautiful, with some small whimsical and touching details. The space is a warm accommodating theatre, with elegant architecture and accessibility. Audience members were wonderfully polite, before, during, and after the performance.

A venue devoted to dance with many extraordinary performances. But on this brutally frigid day, it was stifling inside. Audience members were fanning themselves with programs. Wear layers if you go.

In all of the theaters that I've attended, The Joy...

In all of the theaters that I've attended, The Joyce is unique in that it is intimate, the front-of-house staff is personable, and not only is equity and inclusion stated with a mission, it is also acted upon in collaboration with artists, students, and the community.

An artistic institution, and more specifically, a dance presenter, such as The Joyce, is needed in the NYC community to be a model for all generations who support the arts. From presenting Dada Masilo's Swan Lake last year to presenting Hawaiian company, H lau O Kekuhi next season, The Joyce not only states diversity in its mission, it shows action in its stylistically and racially diverse company offerings and its artistic and scholastic support opportunities. The School and Family programs department, to my knowledge and from the Times, supports youth from all socioeconomic backgrounds, and recently, had a collaboration with Parsons Dance and the Theatre Development Fund to be the first dance theater to present accessibility programming in New York City. The community outreach throughout Chelsea/Meatpacking District is definitely a first for an artistic institution in the neighborhood. Just want to give kudos to them for their staff's hard and humble work. This is AMAZING!

Upon attending The Joyce's offerings and seeing them progress, they have caught my attention as more than just a dance presenter, but rather a model for positive change in the arts community and for fellow students like myself. I give 5 stars for now, and infinitely more for the future! Cheers to The Joyce!
