Was taken here for a surprise anniversary. Very romantic for London. Such grand lighting and wonderfully accommodating staff. The menu is perfectly varied and delicious. We plan to come back with a few more people sometime

What a great experience! Ivy is now one of my favorite restaurant. Polite & friendly staff. The food was amazing along with the service. I would definitely recommend it!
Absolutely the BEST meal and service. Pricey, but worth it. Only (tiny) complaint... we would have liked our bread or orders for drinks to have come earlier. Thanks for a great evening Ivy!
A great experience with the family. We had the pleasure of dinning at the Ivy with our in-laws while visiting London for their 50th wedding anniversary. The atmosphere was elegant without being stuffy. The staff was attentive and everyone's meal was exceptional. In fact, our young daughter was recently asked "what was your favorite mean?" Her answers was "the angel hair pasta and shrimp at the Ivy in London".
We were extremely disappointed in our experience at The Ivy. I am not sure if it was because were were both young and American, but we were immediately treated differently from the rest of the customers. First, we were escorted to bar seats rather than a table after making reservations. Not a big deal. However it took us almost 10 minutes to receive menus, and only after staring down a server. After that we ordered both drinks and dinner. We soon noticed that all the other tables including the bar received bread baskets with butter. After asking for bread we were quickly given some, although the server did not give us butter until asking yet again. The meal was fine, the service was not. We would like to call attention to the Italian bartender he was very kind to us and made sure that our meal was pleasant. That aside, we ultimately found our experience at the Ivy to be quite frustrating and not representative of what we paid for the meal. Undoubtedly a low point of our stay in London
Unable to make a booking ,was the phone off the hook? When arrived at 11.45. the following day ,later person in charge was not in .We left. Not very professional. Regards
Unfortunately this is the first bad review I have ever felt the need to make - I normally give glowing reviews.
Sadly, The Ivy has gone way downhill from a few years back. The service is appalling (I've experienced better customer service in Nandos) - lots of servers floating and flouncing around whilst managing to avoid eye contact with diners trying to get their attention.
The worst moment was when I was wanting to order more wine and what appeared to be the head waiter was too busy canoodling with one of the female serving staff to notice my pleading looks. He had his arm around her waist as they chatted - very unprofessional in a fine dining setting.
The food was average, apart from the Cornish fish soup which was excellent.
Really tasty meal in a beautiful setting. I only docked a star because, as a vegetarian, there was only one main course on the menu suitable for me. It would be nice to have a little more selection! The main course I did have was a pasta dish that was very tasty. I often find vegetarian pasta dishes to be very small portion sizes, but this one was perfect. The wine list was extensive, the food tasty, and the service very pleasant. We ate here on a Sunday night and there was a set menu option for a very reasonable discounted price, considering the quality of the food and the price of the regular menu items.
Been a few times and it's definitely somewhere special however it was Sunday and I chose the roast of the day, which was meat, gravy, a yorkshire and some rather disappointing roast potatoes which definitely weren't at there best! No veg, I forgot you have to order those as extra and the waters didn't highlight. Rest of it was great, highly recommend the forbidden old fashioned, maybe I was just unlucky with my main but would swerve the roast if I'm there on a Sunday again.
We decide to go in Ivy first time because read a lot of positive marks.
Not far from underground, easy to find, beautiful building. First that surprise us was that our coats were hunged on one hanger. And there was a lot of space inside. Than waiter ask about our preference of drinks and give us time to make a choice. All waiters running through the restaurant with dirty dishes, prepared food, some boxes etc. One of us were sited in the aisle and waiters time to time touched him and it wasn't nicely. We weren't hungry and ask only the main course. Between the receiving of the order and serving more than 30 minutes have passed. Only drinks were given on time. Kitchen and bar were perfect and very tasty. Please be note that into the bill would be included not only 12,5% tips fee but also 2 pound per person for the service. It means you pay additionally for the bread basket, tablecloth etc.
The Ivy everywhere positioned like restaurant of the new English kitchen. And I can prove that food is very tasty and qualified, but everything else can be named only cafe and not restaurant. Prices you could find into there site and decide do you need to go there or not but I wouldn't recommend it to my friends.
The best restaurant I have ever been to in London! Impeccable service from start to finish; I was made to feel like royalty! Lovely Art Deco decor and outstanding food - I recommend this place so much....
This was our second time at the ivy, the first time was very disappointing but my husband thought that we should try it again, this time we were not disappointed. The food was amazing along with the service. The only down side was that despite booking in advance we were seated at the bar and with not having seen my husband in just over a month due to work commitments, he had planned a romantic night which we didn't get by sitting at the bar. Would recommend.
Good food, and very welcoming environment. Pricy, but worth it. Very good experience from waiting at the bar, to getting seated. Staff is very attentive. Great staff from taking our coats, making a reservation, getting seated and taking our orders. I ll definitely recommend The Ivy.
I took my wife there for our anniversary. Classy and comfortable place ideal for special occasions. Very rich menu and impressive wine list. We were very pleased with the service of the polite and qualified staff. We definitely come back to try another speciality from their menu.
Top class British restaurant where you might get the chance to see a celebrity or two. It's hidden away so that's another positive if you're trying to lose the chasing pack of Paparazzi. Food is as expected excellent, albeit not cheap. Not easy to book, but if you try a pre theatre dinner slot, you will have a much better chance.
Just finished dinner here. Wanted to experience British dinner in London but disappointed. Service was okay, food taste wasn t up to our satisfaction though quantity was good. Won t recommend
Food has gone considerably down hill, and portion sizes have halfed from what they were in 2017. Beautiful decor and good staff but won't be back after the disappointing food
Best place to eat in London. The staff are the best in the world at their jobs, the restaurant itself has a lovely interior and restrooms. The food was exquisite, I highly recommend the fillet steak.
The food was very bad.The service was not good enough. Also we asked them kindly to call us a taxi and they refused. The smell in the restaurant was awful. Finally told us they need the table for another family after 1hour. I don't recommend this restaurant.
I have been to the Ivy numerous times over the years and the food and service never disappoints. Wonderful surroundings and a great menu makes this a must when in London. Of course booking well ahead of time is necessary for such an historical and well patroned establishment.
I had an allergic reaction to courgettes, when I asked if they mixed it with fish - they couldn t say. Which makes me question the hygiene and also methods. Not vegan friendly, very few vegetarian options. Overall, they were useless and when I asked for info, service took ages and even drinks orders. Just not what I had hoped for.
Fantastic meal, great atmosphere Had meal here with friends. Good choice of food and drinks. Cocktails excellent food very high quality and service good. 10.7
Disappointing for the price. Ordered steak medium rare, but it was extremely hard to cut & outside tasted burnt. Inside seemed to be the right color though, so... ?
Very nice restaurant with impeccable service. A bit expensive but it corresponds to the quality and quality of the dishes. Unfortunately a little too noisy.
Many Thank, We joined you 2 days before Christmas, We expected you to be busy and you were, despite this the service and quality of your offer was exemplary, well done guys I look forward to the next time.
Our party of six ordered from the set menu with the requirement for a Vegan and vegetarian dish. We all enjoyed our meals and the service was excellent. It is a relaxed and comfortable place to eat with low noise levels so conversation is easy.
Absolutely incredible restaurant. I've been a customer for a long time. They food is innovative and modern and never fails to impress. Knowledgeable friendly staff help and guide you and make the experience complete.
Really tasty meat, excellent staff members. In my last visit to London I had to go there various times to explore the menu and I wasn't disappointed once. Brilliant!
An institution on London's restaurant landscape - this is the original and best - recently had a large refurbishment and the style and quality are excellent - a place to see and be seen whilst enjoying the finer things
Every time we go past The Ivy, my wife always tries to drag me in. But I'm usually in shorts or jeans. It was the same this time. I had jeans trainers and a short sleeved shirt on. She insisted I was fine to get in. So I had had a couple of cocktails earlier. So I approached the door man to see if I was suitably dressed, and he said yes I was fine to sit and eat at the bar. So we went in and had very pleasant and enjoyable experiance. I had a cider. The wife bottle of water. Starters was. Nicoise salad and main fresh caught haddock chips and mushy peas. Both was very nice especially the haddock. Very white and almost a sweet taste to it.
Cocktail was fantastically refreshing and the food was stunning. I loved the squid salad, it was amazingly tasty. The soup that the wife had with the bleu cheese croutons was definitely worth the try! Service was good and it was certainly nice and busy. We ate at the bar and it gave a good view of the rest of the restaurant. Definitely good to let them know you are going to a show and the theatre you are going to as they were helpful in making sure we would leave in time. All in all for the money I thought it was worth it, would definitely visit again.
I've been to most Ivy restaurants in London and have thoroughly enjoyed every visit. Food and cocktails are great, staff are very attentive. Can't wait to go back after lockdown!
Really good food and ambience but some of the staff leave a lot to be desired. I don't like people reaching across me or my husband when serving the other.
