Yes non-members have to pay to get in but its worth it. The grounds are beautiful and well kept up. The tower and the sky walk is great. (Extra for both but worth it.)
Went last week with my girlfriend for a nice local scenic walk. Absolutely gorgeous grounds. Well-maintained and full of nature's beauty. Will return for the autumnal months!
Went to a Tuesday evening concert on the lawn. Very nice. This is our second year having a membership and we love it. Even events are dog friendly. Lots of trails and beautiful landscaping. With the membership you get admission to the botanical garden at university circle also. Best deal for the money.
The Arboretum was nice, but I do not think it was worth the $15.00 entrance fee. With the exception of the onsite staff of 12, this park (for lack of a better term) is self sustaining. You enter at a guard booth who collects the fee for each person in the vehicle. You'll get a receipt and a pocket size map to guide you. You self park and walk to the parts that interest you more. For me, it was the canopy walk and the tower. Going in late October, the prices should have been reduced. There was little to no color left in the tree as it was after a strong rain and after the season. The main purpose was to see the colorful leaves of Autumn, but I did not get to see too much. Also, the tower is not handicapped accessible. With the amount of money they get from donors, they can easily put in an elevator designed for a wheelchair next to the tower.
If you re willing to take a drive and you like a great walk in the woods, check out The Holden Arboretum. Holden Arboretum owns of the Cleveland Botanical Gardens, which is down at University Circle, but Holden is a huge botanical gardens with multiple areas to walk and enjoy nature, whereas the Cleveland Botanical Gardens are inside and outside, and much more compact.
There is also a terrific bridge across and around the valley at the Holden Arboretum. They walk across this bridge provides a beautiful view of that valley in the area below. Don t miss this bridge.
There s also a tower which requires climbing a lot of stops but allows another fantastic view of the Arboretum from above. You can see for miles in any direction.
If you re in Cleveland for a week, or you love gardening, make sure to put Holden at the top of your list.
Absolutely beautiful and the layout of the arboretum is a great place to take a walk for a few hours to enjoy nature. 10/10 would go again multiple times.
As far as arboretums go, this is the nicest I have ever been. it has a large canopy lookout and tower that cost extra but are fun. I haven't been here in the fall but I bet it would be amazing.
I've been to many parks in the North East Area of Cleveland, Ohio and in ways this is the pinnacle. From it's paths, to the achorage, to the facilities, the views, scenery and information stands around the park. But it's too perfect. Personally, I find how perfect this park is that is almost seem fake. It's too man-made. Every rock, every tree, every blade of grass feels like it was drawn on a blue print and was placed there when they designed this place. It isn't a natural place with paths around the scenery like Punderson. There are too many information stands. It's like a tree zoo. It ruins your immersion. And that is why a perfect park can't get a perfect 5 stars.
This location was a 5 star until recently. Become a member and you can access the park after hours. But don t plan on using the rest room, they lock them and there are no portajohns. Not being able to use a bathroom in such an expansive facility where one would like to spend time and enjoy themselves is difficult to say the least. There s no near by gas station or any other option. I would like to see the bathrooms open so people don t have to keep going in your bushes when nature calls.
Nature surrounds you. Pathways are clean and clear. Lots of signs to keep you on the path. Tons of paths to walk. Numerous trees and plants have plaques to tell you what they are. Staff is very friendly too.
This park would be a great place to take a child, an elderly parent or a non-outdoors type. All of the trails were exceptionally well maintained and marked. The terrain is reasonably flat which makes for easy hiking. There were a lot of employees present who very friendly and ready to answer any questions guests might have. The emergent tower was very entertaining. The only downside I saw was the entrance fee. There are many other free hiking opportunities available in the area but they do not have the same amount of friendly staff or the excellent trail and grounds maintenance.
Marvelous place. You get groomed gardens an plant collections and wild forest areas. The new canopy walk and observation tower (separate admission) are worth visiting Good for hikes, visiting, education, running around with kids, nature, birding, etc. This is a gem of a place.
Absolutely spectacular with activities for every single age group there is. The canopy walk and the tower were amazing. Along with this, the overall upkeep of the park can be matched by few. THE HOLDEN ARBORETUM IS A MUST SEE.
Many beautiful trails to hike. Gorgeous flower gardens and ponds. A large lake. Lots of benches along the way to rest on. If you're feeling extra strong go for the tower with 12 floors of steps to climb. Don't forget to walk across the treetop canape.
Holden is beautiful. Go! Any time of year. Enjoy nature - you won t be disappointed. Sometimes they even have some really cool surprises. Never the same place twice.
This place has something for everyone - all ages. Every kind of plant and tree that will survive this region. Expect to walk, and be pretty independent. You can bring a wheelchair here, but stay on the concrete or tarmac. There is always something going on, like an exhibit or display. Currently there is an interactive art installation on a hillside that is breathtaking. It is a four season facility. You have to make reservations, for safety now. You have to pay per adult per visit, unless you're a member. You practically MUST have GPS the first time you visit, but the drive there is as beautiful as the destination.
What a nice place to visit. Really enjoyed the walk through the flowers, the ponds and really loved the canopy walk. Will go again with friends and family.
This place is amazing, well groomed paths and fun activities for the fall great picturesque spots! Loved the tower and the canopy walks! Worth the money to check out. Drove an hour to experience this worth it
Beautiful grounds! Has many little paths to take with interesting scenery. The emergent tower has great views. Also try to canopy walk!! Good place to picnic with the family.
I went here with my elementary school last year. This place is good if you need to stretch your legs and need a walk. I rate this two stars because the field trip was boring and got tired. In the fall of 2018 I hated it because it was so More
Very well done nature park. Not quite like anything I've been to before. Part hiking trails, part botanical garden, part jungle gym, and part lighthouse. The trails are very well maintained and nearly every plant of interest clearly labeled. There are benches throughout for rest, mostly in the shade, and tons of easily readable signs to show the way. The price of admission is very reasonable and there is a good amount of parking. Highly recommended for a convenient day in nature. Be advised the road leading to the park is old and as always, drive with precision and stay in your lane around curves so you don't hit another car or motorcycle.
Even during the winter it's a cool, well maintained facility. Although it doesn't have all of the colors of spring, it does have many walking trails and a visitor center that are enjoyable. The paths were well cleared and the bridges are brand new. Great place for a nice walk in nature.
This place is gorgeous and many trails. Roughly $10-14 is well worth the entrance fee to help preserve the beautiful land. The bridge and Tower are two thrilling Adventures for adults and kids off all ages.
Great place to walk around and enjoy the sounds and sites of nature. Also a great place to capture Pokemon. The is a test stop by the butterfly garden. There is also a gym. Holden seems to have a nice magicarp spawn rate as well.
Beautiful arboretum. We went for the canopy walk and tower. The website was a bit misleading that only service dogs were allowed. When we got there we realized all dogs are allowed on the grounds, just not on the canopy walk and tower.
Holden Arboretum is really many places in one! Miles of trails lead you to ponds, streams, woods and fields across rolling landscapes... And there are many added attractions, like the new canopy walk way (gently sloping access) and emergent tower (a workout on stairs).
