Thank you Hawaiian Humane Society for your sense of ergency to pick up a helpless sick stray kitten off the road & to the lady that came sorry I forgot her name she was so helpful & kind Mahalo!!
Great place to pick up a pet. Don't forget to have your pet spayed or neutered.
I've always tried to get my pets from here. Nice renovation. Bought my 2 dogs from home for a "Meet and Greet" with a our new puppy. Had to wait 2 hrs cause they forgot about us. Ughh......but when we finally got helped, they made sure the puppy was a right fit with our dogs.
Difficult to get a debit card refund...I don't hate them though
I really like going there. They have quite a few animals there. Dogs, cats, kittens, puppys, bunnies, guinnea pigs. They are very reasonable too. Also the staff is very helpful and very knowledgeable. Fast service too. I got my fur baby there almost 3 yrs ago. Im very glad that I did.
This is a very clean, healthy place for critters. They do a lovely job of making sure they are well cared for and provide every opportunity for adoption.
The facility is clean, courteous and caring staff. Animals are well cared for.
Overall I really like this humane society. Its really nice but I feel some of their employees do lack in just manners. I got both of my cats from here. The first time I came I had a good experience but the second time I came the employees were rude. Not the ones at the counter but the ones in the cat house. I accidentally let two cats out into the other room and I was trying to catch them but they were just standing their watching me struggle. I asked one of the lady's who was volunteering to make sure the cat doesn't run out again and she just stared at me like with a bitchy look. I only get annoyed when people are ignorant or rude for no reason...but I'm happy to have my cats and I hope all the other animals get adopted despite some of the employees. Also they need to change their hours on google it says open 24 hours. When I went in the second time, a worker said it was closed...they just need to be more thorough.
Friendly people who like their jobs and are there to help both people and pets
**Update: I forgot to mention that the first dog we got was rescued by HHS in Waianae and when we took him to the vet for his first visit, the doctor found an air gun pellet in his leg area under his skin. He also had scars like he got regular beatings. He is our most loving dog and treat him like a king.
Our second dog was rescued by HHS from the Ewa Beach area and despite being younger had obviously had a litter. She was so timid when we sat with her in the meeting cage that we knew she was abused too. We have had her for awhile now and she is outgoing but only with us. When we get home from work she growls like she is talking to us, it's hilarious and cute at the same time. Both dogs were so skinny but not anymore. not fat but full bodied lol.
Got two rescue dogs here for a great price. They have periodic specials where they don't charge much because they need to move the animals into homes. We got two 3 year old dogs that haven't messed in the house and are very loving and loyal. Sometimes too protective but they mean well. They are family members now and can't live without them. We go to the annual Christmas pictures with Santa Claus. Get great pictures for our Christmas cards and give a donation to the HHS. If you want great memories get an older dog and you will miss the paper training and puppy whining like we did. And give a traumatized dog a new and happy life.
They were helpful, professional, and kind. Everyone was more than happy to help. The location is larger than expected so pay attention to the signs or you could get lost rather easily.
Hanging out with my pup tonight and just apreaciating how lucky I am. I was in need of a friend a few months back and I went here and found a stray terrier(Jakey). They had almost no info on him but he has the sweetest temperament. He loves going on runs and hanging out. Love him to death. And I am very thankfull he was found and cared for by the humane society.
Large facility with great staff!! So grateful for the Hawaii Humane Society....adopted my little love from here!
Everyone is so nice, and the animals are well taken care of.
It's the Hymane Society, so everyone knows what they're about. Kennels are reasonably sized, and clean. There are a couple of newer buildings -- dog house blue and cat house blue . Sadly, that means they closed their dog park
Pretty sad that Humane Society charges the person that found a stray cat. 1. We are doing your job to help this unreal population of stray cats. 2. Its not that cats fault.3. This is why people do not bring in strays. And the population is growing by the minute. Unprofessional at the receiving desk by one bald guy. Well I will not be donating to the humane society! So sad the animals!
Got both our babies from the Human Society. Great staff, very helpful. Great job everyone there.
Animals that need a new loving home can be found here.
Best HS I've been to. Very big, has a garden. Lots of pets but well-organized and clean! Friendly and loving staff. Adopted my 2 year old tuxedo cat 10 days ago and he is the greatest baby!
This is a very necessary place. They do a great job maintaining the animals that they get. oviously not enough capacity.
I love this place visiting the dog and cats is fun also giving rescue animals a home is good
This place is very busy but with wonderful staff. They are grateful if an adoption is made to one of their rescued animals.
Super helpful staff. Great Non-profit don't know what I would do without them!
I go here to relieve stress and it's a good place for everyone
I adopted a four month old puppy 3 days ago, despite several outstanding health concerns rather apathetically unattended by this shelter. Today I have found out that prior to my adoption this puppy had (and still has) tapeworms, because I found several still-living organisms around my house. This is intolerable negligence on the part of staff who addressed the issue very flippantly, reassuring me that this was nothing to be concerned about and a minor risk of adopting a pet. Could not be more displeased.
Adopt, all the animals you buy at Petco come from the humane society anyway, save yourself the money
I like how this place is casual and allows you to interact/play with their animals and get to know them.
Very helpful, I got me a baby girl puppy for half the price which only happens on Wednesday's
The waiting process is too long and talk about communication skills? That would be none
Horribly rude employees, bad attitudes, you could tell both wanted to go home, or elsewhere, and we're we're angry about working. Horrible service.
This was the very first time I've ever adopted a dog from here. The process is a little long but it gives you time to interact with the potential pet. I didn't pick my dog, he quite literally attached himself to me lol! All things considering it was an easy process, and likely in the future I'd adopt from here again.
I got my first adpoted dpg from here and very helpful
The volunteers there seem to know a lot about the temperament of the animals. They seem to be sincerely interested in finding the right home for each animal..I like that.
The place is absolutely BEAUTIFUL. I've never saw an SPCA like it. Staff was super friendly, as well as very loving to the animal. And it was VERY VERY CLEAN.
Spade my baby a week later now seems fine, great job guys
Helpful staff, extremely understanding in a difficult situation. Would use them again.
I love this place. What a wonderful place for animals who need a home.
Workers and volunteers are so helpful and pleasant. Luckily not too many animals but the animals there are very clean and not lacking companionship.
Find a dog and spend visiting time with him or her and then try to leave them behind.
Something that gives love so freely, deserves some in return.
While on vacation on the beautiful island of Oahu, I decided to stop in and visit a friend, after recalling how we missed out on the experience in Kauai. I arrived mere minutes before they opened, and was pretty much first in line to choose my companion for the next hour.
Walking the path, from cage to cage, I saw rows of pups just waiting for someone to pay them some kind of attention. The friendly ones came and sniffed my hand, while the more timid sat towards the back of their kennel.
There are so many to choose from, but you know when its right. Flashing those bright eyes at me, and I knew she was the one. Walking back to the desk, I gave them the kennel number, and was escorted back to pick her up.
So excited, I'll bet she dreamed her day would include a walk with a side of kisses. We toured all around that property, even in the areas that were off limits. It was her day to live, and by golly, I was going to let her.
So, if you have an extra hour on a weekend, stop by and brighten the day of a little buddy. Even if you cant take them home, you can surely give them what they want.
...love wanted
Love visiting the kitties. Will be a foster mom when we move to the West Coast. Sad this isn't a "no-kill" facility though...
Uncaring uncompassionate to situation when I had to go down there. It was almost like I was a drug addict checking into a hospital.
Very supportive n professional when dealing with our beloved dog whom we lost in death. Cremation was done in a quick n loving manner. Thx HHS
Cause I went there to look around n I end up get thing a dog
Gorgeous grounds and shelter. You can feel the love for the animals.
We adopted Mimi in October 2017. I never thought we would, but our daughter negotiated hard to adopt a dog. The HHS staff was excellent and allowed us interacting with the animals and they explained the adoption process. During our 2nd visit we found our match. We are grateful Mimi has become family. We had a great experience at HHS and would do it again. Mahalo to the staff.
We dropped our dog off for a spay. The surgery was a breeze, no complications, it was great! Our girl recovered quickly. The only reason I didn't give five stars is because she was sent home without medication. We asked if would could purchase some but they ensured she wouldn't need it. I ended up speaking with our vet and getting a prescription because she was in terrible pain afterwards. Apparently some dogs do well without pain meds after the surgery and our vet said it's normal we didn't receive any. However, our vet also said we should have received some after requesting it. No sweat. I am grateful for the wonderful surgery and recovery our girl went through and would highly recommend a friend to spay or neuter their pet at this establishment.
Not very friendly. But I wasnt there for them, I was there for the animals.
Amazingly clean shelter with friendly and plentiful staff who know the animals personally. Highly recommend volunteering or adopting from here.
WOW! It's really cool here. The animals have it good! Nice job!
It was enjoyable and the kitten room was just nice and relaxing. The people there were very friendly as well.
Went with my neighbor to pick out the perfect little puppets for her. She found just the one she was looking for and named her snooki. Very easy process with the staff to adopt her. Very nice experience.
My husband and I were looking at different shelters around and been reading reviews. We decided to visit The Hawaiian Humane Society and it was an great experience! The staff there are extremely helpful and always willing to answer any questions. They also are friendly and they treat all the animals with great care. We are hoping to return soon to take home a dog. 5/5
Nice improvement have been made, modernized and increase facility to house and showcase animals.
Very busy place. The staff was very friendly amd understanding.
If you have pets and you're struggling financially - they have an excellent outreach program.
Always checking on us and giving us care information
Last 3 months.. I've been looking for a dog.. everytime I look at photos.. they're all the same..no new pic
I am truly impressed.by the staff I meet. They appear to really care to do good work.
Nice facility and helpful staff. Liked the clean open air feel to it all.
Very prompt about returning lost animals, as long as their chipped. If their not, well.....
Dropped off pet food at the storage shed in the back. Pets have to eat too. In a time when people are struggling to buy food.
Adopted our Max from here. Easy process. Hes been with us for 4 years now. We are not in Hawaii no more but recommend if you're on Oahu and interested in adding a fur baby check them out.
They need to work on customer service over the phone.
It's very clean, staff is courteous, seems as if animals are well cared for...
