This is by far the nicest humane society I have ever seen. Everything was open and clean, we got our dog Duke about 5 or 6 weeks ago and he has been great.

Caring and helpful staff and volunteers. This is a no kill shelter
I foster kittens for them. They do not kill healthy animals. And they have lots of adoption sites with pet Co stores.
I really love to see animals over here. So much cute animals comfort me.
I really enjoy visiting this humane society. The employees are incredibly friendly and nice. The animals seem well cared for. I also had to bring a dog in that I found wandering the streets with no collar and it was a very fast process, 3 minutes tops. The employees and volunteers should be proud of the work they put in.
I got my adorable kitten here and she is just amazing.
Super friendly staff and the animals are always cared for so well!
They need to be more on it. When we heard on the news they needed more dog & cat food we went out and bought a substantial amount. When we pulled up to deliver they were not prepared, they struggled to find a cart for the donations. Other people were pulling up also. People in Hawaii are caring and when You put out a call for help just be prepared next time.
They are amazing, taking care of all these animals!
Helping the % of other life forms that humans destroy heedless of the future or anything but themselves. I love animals of all nature, I don't like people, PERIOD. Except my baby, my babe, my boys and David Bowie. All else can eat at Dave's.
This team is Busy! Pleasant/helpful 1-on1.. while acknowledging others! Alot are volunteers. It just amazing the things you don't see that these people do and gentle to animals so much behind the scenes. These guys are awesome
Only reason they get two stars is because they take good care of the animals. Other than that; they never answer their phones, don't respond to neglectful situations, and a lot of their staff/volunteers are really rude.
Another favorite. I like that it's a no kill shelter now. Well actually you can't really call any of the no kill shelters. Under some circumstances they have to to help the pet not suffer from some bad illness or the animal is so aggressive they can't adopt them out. I know they try everything possible to try and help them but people just don't Take care and train their new pets or have them fixed, chipped or get the important shots. If you can't afford a animal right now don't get one. Wait til you have enough saved up to get everything xond.
Staff was nice even tho it's a lot of work caring for pets.
An exelant place to fine a new furry member of the family.
They were very helpful. No many dogs which is good..
I found a dog on a hike, she was a sweetheart and I wanted to keep her, but I am unfortunately unable to. Sadly, I took her to the humane society where the staff was friendly and kind to her and told me she would be receiving all the medical attention she would need as well as get fixed and chipped. The way they treated her, assured me that she would be treated well. Wonderful place, I will make sure to donate more from now on.
First and foremost, the worst customer service I've ever experienced. Found a dog on the side of the road that was clearly healthy, clean and taken care of. But due to it running back and forth on the road and eventually getting slightly hit by a truck, we grabbed her quickly and rushed her to a vet. The dog didn't have a chip so they evaluated her and sent her to the humane society. We called several times to get information about the dog but privacy laws prevented the release of any information. We even found someone who wanted to adopt immediately with intentions to cover any fees but nope. The Ethan Hunt wanna-bes can't tell us if the dog is up for adoption. Wouldnt tell us what kind of dogs are up for adoption. Look at their website. The place is packed with dogs. A lot are perfect for adoption. Their website only shows three dogs available. If you would like to adopt one of those dogs, good luck. Will never take a stray or lost dog to the humane society again. PLEASE contact dog people of Oahu who actually try their best to reconnect lost dogs and rehome strays!
Staff is usually very friendly, pets looking forever homes constantly turn over. So if you don't find what you are looking for, come back in a few days and there will be all new pets.
A close friend, forgot her dog at Ewa Park. Due to a family emergency. When she realized what she had done, is when she had reached the hospital at Pearl Ridge. She checked with the emergency personnel. Then explained what she had done, & left her cell number for any up dates. She went back to the park, & to her surprise.... her dog was no where in sight. So, she called the Humane Society 1st. There had been no calls or had not been turned in, as of that time. The next call was to 911. They had no calls for any dog in that vicinity. She was so distraught. Through her crying, she proceeded to drive around in the neighborhood across the park. Calling for her dog, by name. After about 45mins. of crying & driving. She finally went back to the park, to resign to the fact that she may not see her beloved pet again. It had been slightly over 2hrs. & a half, since she had left that park. She was truly broken hearted. She called the hospital for an up date. There still was no news as of yet. Her heart just ached. For her partner as well as her 12 year old dog. She just was distraught, as any owner of an animal of 12yrs. would be. Then, her cell rang. It was the Humane Society. They had her dog! Because she was chipped as a puppy. They called her back. To let her know that her precious dog was there. She was so elated, as well as I & our friends that I called for help before we got back to the park. Turned out to be a great day! When she went back to the hospital. Her partner was now out of surgery. She told her partner of the event that happened, upon notice from the hospital. & she & her partner cried tears of joy.
they do a great job here - come and help to volunteer to spend some time with the dogs and cats. adopted our first 2 "children" from here. you can see puppies online to see who's available. there is a dog park here as well.
Helpful and caring. Emergency services with late/early hours on the back side of the building.
I tried to donate some money today just like I have been for the past few years. Unfortunately it was unsuccessful because of the long waiting time...35 mins to be exact. I would have waited longer but with the staff (tall blonde hair and short dark hair) taking their sweet time talking and no sense of urgency, I didn't want to wait anymore and decided to donate to someone else who really needs it. Seriously, what is wrong with you people? It was ridiculous to wait that long and it was not that the place was busy. It was clearly I was the one next in line. I feel bad for the animals....the staff members, not so much. Not going to donate to this place anymore!
they have really adorable and friendly animals there! you should go and visit
Went on Valentine's Day weekend, the place was packed with people looking for a new friend. Lots of kids pulling and poking the kittens, most were scared and trying to hide. We found an empty cage (free of kids), went in and a little guy, 5 month old kitten crawls out. We ended up taking him home that day! His new name is Jaxon! Was quite a long wait to get the paperwork and take home meds but all in all the HHS is doing great work!
I must admit these are hard times but the staff was short and unwelcoming! I m going back this week just to find out if it s really true to my Ladt experience so I will update then!
Like a beautiful resort for animals! Great group of volunteers saving one animal (or over 300) at a time. No kill and no animal is turned away. Inspiring!
I think if someone wants a dog they should always rescue one. Somewhere Out There animal that needs a human friend.
most staff is friendly & efficient, except 2 or 3 at the front desk. Try no to drive there, most times it is quite difficult to find parking.
The staff could not have been kinder to me as I looked for my cat (who is fixed and has ear clipped.) Thankfully my 2 1/2 yo baby wasn't there. They made sure my info was updated and took 2 pics from my phone and downloaded it to their file. Incredibly helpful and concerned. Thank goodness for the Hawai'i Humane Society and all the volunteers. Mahalo nui loa!
They were very comforting in retrieving my #catch #spay tabby male stray cat. Thought I would never see him again #joyful #reunion #mahalonuiloa
Great shelter. You can tell the animals are well kept and cared for. Always running promotions to get the pets adopted
I am forever indebted to the kind staff and volunteers at the Hawaiian Humane Society for caring for my dog after she was turned in. They made sure she was ok medically, and when I picked her up she was in good spirits. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
Very organized and very caring under the situation that brought us there
Found a stray dog and the process to turn him in was very easy
Someone should ask them how many animals they killed last year! Everyone should go to youtube and watch " Dying to be loved" by the animal advocate if they want to hear the truth.
Went to see if I could find a puppy so I can adopt and train him/her as my service dog but they didn't have a big quantity of them...
I was surrendering my dog so it was a sad visit, but the man who helped me was kind. After my encounter with him I felt more comfortable leaving my pet there.
Good place to find your next family friend! Lots of dogs, cats, and assorted animals like tanks, birds, turtles. They don't euthanize unless the animal cannot be socialized. Relaxing sometimes to go there after work and play with the animals while waiting for traffic to die down
Very nice adoption and lost animal areas. Centrally located, easy to find. We got our dog from there. He's the best!
Went to pick up foster. The staff were very nice and friendly. Been emailing them back and forth the whole week. Please support them anyway you can
Very friendly and Gracie was a great help... very beautiful place...
Great place to find a new addition to your family. The staff are friendly and helpful. It can get a little crowded and slow during peak hours.
So nice are the people got the information too do things right, for you and the dog or cat ohh, and other pets that need a home,,,, or is it that you need, to make a home for, your self, love, they were spot on, Aloha, God bless
What kind of person would rate the humane society anything less than a 5?
Great place and os so pet friendly. They truley care about the animals and provide a great place for them.
I lost or they were stolen, a dachund and a Doberman Pincher, they have treated me horribly as if I'm there trying to confiscate dogs,I don't have a pic of my Dachund, never had the chance to get a photo,so I can't look or possibly get my dachund,my Doberman,I am sure they had at one time but he was claimed by someone else, nice staff but the turn over is so great they rarely seem experienced. Milo
Doing their best to keep everyone safe but still help the animals. I was a bit early to my appointment but they helped me as soon as they could. Able to surrender the animal and get my pet taxi back quickly.
We found two wonderful dogs at this humane society. They were well cared for and ready for our home. When we wanted a rabbit we came here first. Our rabbits, "Oreo" and "Strawberry", have become welcome additions to our family. Thank you to the Humane Society for caring for our animals before us...
Good place for per adoptions. Free parking. They close at 4 pm.
The animals are so friendly and loving. The staff is so attentive and helpful.
The place was clean and I enjoyed talking my son to see these adoptable animals.
Went down to pickup our cat that was picked up as a stray in front of our house while napping on the front lawn and also
To look at animals for adoption I forgot to mention that they called us that they had our cat because it had a chip and they knew who to call
Went to pick up spading certificate. Was easy and fast. Helpful friendly service from the guy.
The Hawaiian Humane Society saved my Jack Russell Terrier named Haku in October 2012! On November 1, 2012, I went to the Shelter to pick up Haku, due to my prior donations only charged $20. Mahalo a nui loa for taking care of Haku Howard and caring for him for 2 weeks. ALTHOUGH this was in 2012, the Humane Society took good care of him. He died in Visalia California on September 30, 2017. God Bless Haku! Captain Stan Howard IRS ENROLLED AGENT
Yeah very helpful. Theu care about your animals and your feelings. They're not a hospital but when in times of need they can help you .....
Courteous, helpful service with many volunteers. There's few dog pounds in Honolulu. Clean premises. Advisable to call in advance if one has questions, or use their website.
You can go here to adopt that next new addition to your family. Breeds of dogs does differ but if you are looking for a specific breed you might not find it here.
All dogs are given a once over by the onboard vet. To ensure the animals are healthy and free of any health problems.
When you adopt your new best friend from here the vet will make sure the shots, health and state required micro chip are done.
There is a very small fee to cover shots, microchip which are required by the state.
It was a place with a good environment where the dog center could be right. I could walk with my dog and donate in the field.
They have a pet foodbank to assist people feed their pets so they do not have to give them up. Sometimes they do not give much food maybe a day's worth. You can visit once a month. Many pets were being adopted the day I visited.
Sweet people, sweet animals. If adopting again, we will go back here!! Staff k NJ ows their animals names, tendencies, medical issues if they're present, you name it. They truly love the animals there!
Great staff, very helpful and the animals are so cute!
I visited the new exhibit showrooms where the pets are enclosed. And your volunteers are great. Clean, and neat spaces.
Tons of terrific animals looking for a home. Clean and welcoming with a friendly staff.
They don't really have alot of people helping out the line backed up we waited for along time to be helped we wanted to adopt a cat and a dog we were told no that we could only adopt one we told them we wanted the cat when we went back in less than a week the cat was gone I would seriously consider adopting on line it's a mess there the animals are awesome some of the staff is not good luck
A wonderful shelter to visit. The staff are very dedicated, caring, and friendly. Even if you're not able to adopt an animal it's still nice to visit and socialize with them.
This place is amazinbn g. They update their pictures daily. Limited parking but when your there your forget about that. You browse around freely and if you like a pup or cat...or turkey whatever they have. You let the fro t desk know and they get the pet and let you spend good quality time with them to see if thats your new best friend. All animals come spayed/neutered with all their shots (unless you get a 3 month old set of chihuahuas like me) then you will have to pay for the rest. (SPCA offers low cost clinics at petco frequently) also wednesdays are half off adoption fees and they also give a military discount
Overall its a lovely place and im glad i got my pups from there
#sarahandconnor
After years of renovations the place looks more updated and fenced wall of dog adoption area. Sad about removal of dog park play yard. They replaced it with a stupid building instead. Donations are for the poor animals, not the offices and conference rooms ermkay?
Nice, cool spot to play with the pets, I can't have a dog, so I go to see them.
so I think I am a hippo whisperer I mean I have never seen a hippo but I just have a feeling you know?
Very friendly and very easy. They truly care about their animals.
Beautiful grounds and well maintained. Animals are well taken care of.
Animals are treated well and the volunteers are really friendly and show the love they have for the animals here.
