The Governor Hotel Review

Good food, friendly service, and a SHUTTLE to take me home. Winner.

It was the first time I'd been there. And a fairly brand new hotel. Very nice decor. I saw some unusual items on the menu. I ordered something that I wasn't sure of. I took half home. It was mostly made of cold fried eggs and a spicy salad.
They need to put a more VISIBLE sign showing on the Ladies Toilets Door. Not just the Fire Hydrant sign.

Customer service is out of this world! The team at the Gov is incredible and the hotel itself is in a class of its own.
The food is always cooked to perfection and the cocktails are packed full of flavour! It's nice to see a pub that has it all under control - especially considering the COVID Restrictions.
The team at the Gov has really gone above and beyond with their sanitising and I feel really comfortable dining at the venue.

Keep it up Governor - Other hotels should take some notes!

Interesting place with an abstract decor. Food really good though prices are higher than normal. Will be back!

Good food. However, my friends and I were disappointed with the 'tiny' size of the Chef's special Salmon meal we had today. 'Tiny' is an understatement; definitely not worth the price. Otherwise, nice place to chill out.

After being kicked off our table by security after 3 hours there - because apparently it was now reserved (it wasnt when we arrive 3 hours prior) - we realized that it was actually a mediocre pub in the middle of nowhere with inadequate staffing (15 minutes wait at the bar) and less than mediocre food. Won't be going back.

If I could I would rate 0. Customer service was absolutely rubbish. The manger was extremely rude and mean. I had never experienced this poor behaviour and customer service anywhere in my entire life. Shocking!!!

Great food and atmosphere. Service is also friendly and professional.

Could be an amazing venue, great food and drink in a stunning space that isn't drowned out by the noise of a small Mexican man yelling hot chilli (something people from the area have been begging for) but for some reason each time I've attempted to enjoy a night there management or security have been on a hell bent mission to stop myself and many other people who they seem to target demographically on social media and other platforms from spending any money there.
If you're looking to visit I'd advise you wear your best tuxedo and maybe rock up in a limousine. Otherwise I'd say you have about a 50/50 chance of entering.

Parking : Beyond a joke.
Fit out : Excellent
Food quality : standard pub food.
Prices : A joke .

Your bar tender DANIEL is delightful, I honestly believe he deserves a pay rise he is professional and extremely personable, you re lucky to have him as an employee, beautiful venue and good class staff highly recommend

The staff are friendly, the atmosphere is great and the food is good (a bit pricey). Although, In order to get the members discount you have to download the app (which is called Momento as its not well advertised). The app seems to be in low-fidelity prototype stage and is frustrating to use. Would rather a simple plastic card (or I suggest giving people paper codes to load onto stocard). Also, It can be very difficult to get a booking. I'm glad to see investment into a beautiful space and I'm looking forward for the teething problems to be resolved.

Always fantastic experience, Momento Group have done incredibly well bringing this quality of entertainment space to Macquarie Park

Love the food! Love the service! Servings are pretty generous we ordered sides which we couldn't finish. Really modern decor with complimenting colour scheme. Just not sure about deer head wall..(chicken is halal)

Really nicely fitted out place with friendly staff and a good beer selection. Plenty of little private spots for a function. Food is pretty decent - standard pub fare, slightly more pricey than usual. Overall, a good place to hang out for a few drinks. We'll be back!

The bottomless brunch at is brilliant value and well worth a try. The staff are friendly and attentive which made for a really enjoyable experience. We sat on the roof top in one of the booths, it does get a little hot as the day goes on but there is plenty of shade available.

The rooftop bar is great to relax and have a few drinks. The restaurant serves very good pub food.

Steak was a bit bland and overprice. Good free pick up and drop off service

Bouncers, great. Security, great. Staff, great. Management, WOEFUL. I was greeted by lovely security and then my night took a turn for the worst. To know that my sober friend was turned down for no reason by management, and then saw another man get turned down for the shoes he was wearing. I will never go here again and I advise you all do the same.

certainly place where you can hear each other with great Food and Service

Great pub and rooftop bar. Friendly staff, plenty of beers on tap and nice whisky selection.

Everything from organisation, responsiveness, and planning in preparation for the event was easy and seamless - thank you Anya! The event itself was well run, the food was sensational, the service was prompt and the staff on the night were informative, helpful, transparent and extremely organised. Our team had a great time! Thank you for a well run night and we look forward to coming back - we found it great value for money!

Great place that has been really well designed with multiple areas, a great sports bar area and fantastic staff, service and food.
Is a little more expensive that your normal pub but the quality is well worth it.
A real little hidden gem.

Really big and super clean place, though prices are on the steeper side (burgers starting at $20) and parking is very limited unless you're a VIP.

A hidden gem when it comes to restaurants, honestly had the best chips and steak I have ever had and the price was not even that high, would definitely go again. The location although is quite odd and you may not even think you are in the right place when you arrive, but my goodness is the trip worth it.

Lifehack: they have a courtesy ride up to 5km, just ask the guy in front of the establishment.

Love the food and cocktails here. Salsa night was also a lot of fun.

I have have been made to look poor, unhygienic quite simply sub human. I was attending the Governor Hotel on Saturday 12th August for a good friends birthday. Said friend had booked two tables seating 30 people. We all met outside the venue at around 6pm approached the entry where we were met with two large security guards. They started the check identification and usher people through. Problem one two patrons in the group had passports for Identification and were immediately refused as it is not considered valid Identification. Passport. Secondly two others in our group were wearing jeans with slight rips in the knee areas for aesthetic reasons, the current trends, to find some honey. NOT ALLOWED, of course they gave us the explanation that they were trying to maintain a high standard, but couldn't tell us what this standard was. Yet could say they wanted to be classy in saying that turning us away with smirks and abrupt rude directions as we were in the eyes of the Governor Hotel, not up to social standard by appearance. I was brought back to my high school years, playground bulling of the poor kid. And rsl I went.

Nice layout. Wait staff were great and bouncers friendly. Usually booked out for lunch and food is way too expensive. Been there a few times and they always seem to have run out of certain dishes.

interesting layout and kind of difficult to get up to the rooftop. i took a couple of stars off as the kitchen staff were transferring a large amount of food in the lift (which i was in with 3 other people) and the food wasn't adequately covered it was just sitting on the trolly. perhaps the staff might need a refresher food handling course. very disappointing as I went there specifically to write a positive review.

A very stylish venue with great food and friendly staff members. Whether you are looking for a simple lunch catch up or a romantic dinner date or even just for a girl's night, it caters for all.

This is a great corporate venue. Not really close to anything by foot. Great fit-out and also pretty tasty food. We seem to be heading here more frequently for our team lunches.

Great bar for lunch and after work. Multiple bars and seating areas, including roof top bar. Food is reasonable but a little expensive, same as the drinks.

Great place. It's big and bold, sort of a modern take on a traditional Sydney pub.

Very disappointed that I was looking forward to socialising with my colleagues at our annual team dinner, only to find that not only was it trivia night, but that we were seated directly in front of the speakers and could barely hear each other. The steak was also definitely not medium rare.

First time .. staff were really friendly! Just put 20 in the pokies and had a quick schooie after work . Was asked if I would like some food while I was playing which was really great service. Would definitely return next time to try the food.

Me and my friend's went to the hotel last night for dinner the atmosphere was great the food was really nice and the bar stuff were really professional but the one problem I have is carrying 3 plates of food up 4 flights of stairs they should bring it to you just would be a lot more professional then making the customer struggle climbing 4 levels I find it very wired it tells me they don't care or just stupid and lazy

Awesome atmosphere, great food and decent prices. Parking can be a bit of an issue though.

We celebrated my baby girl baptism on Sunday and can only say good things about the place, the food and mostly the customer service. It was amazing. The food was really tasty and good quality. Everyone was helpful, polite and really make the celebration even better.

The governor hotel has the perfect setting and atmosphere for get togethers. Bottomless brunch was amazing and great value. The staff provided great and friendly service. Will definitely recommend and come back :)

I was part of the bridal party that was unceremoniously kicked out on Saturday afternoon. FYI, it was for wedding photos, not for an "after party." Who has an after party at 2pm!?
To the owner who responded to my friend - all your points may very well be valid, however we were unaware and all obliging when asked to put the alcohol away despite the fact that your staff were disgustingly and unnecessarily rude. Their attitude was bitter and insulting from the moment they stepped outside and they barely explained the reason we were being tossed out on my best friend's wedding day.
You may have rules and regulations you have to follow which we respect, but someone needs to teach your staff some customer service. Not that they'll need it for myself or my friends as we won't be customers of yours again.

It s pretty ... that s all I got from it. Rooftop food is overpriced and tasted similar to what I can imagine cardboard would taste like... so disappointed.
I heard downstairs food is better tasting and better priced so I ll give it one more go.

Wow what an amazing venue, just what Macquarie Park needed ! I visited with work friends this week, the staff were so friendly, the food was fresh and delicious and the bar tenders recommended we try the signature cocktails which were the bomb ! Can't wait to go back :)

The kicker was paying $30 for a raw, greasy version of KFC.

Lovely food, beautifully presented, pretty clean.

Travelling from WA and visiting the Govenor for the first time we were unaware of how the restaurant worked.

We weren't greeted or acknowledged by any of the 10+ staff at all. We had to go and find a staff member ask them where we were able to sit, we then noticed it's order at counter (completely fine), then that we had to go and collect our food for ourselves when it was ready; again completely fine but it would have been better customer service if we could have been informed of this by a staff member.

There were 5 of us at a table and we ordered appetizers, they came and while we weren't even half way through the appetizers, the buzzer on out table was going beserk we then had to find a staff member to help us clear dishes off the table to make room for our main meals.

The service wasn't that great at all. And the food was nothing over the moon outstanding to compensate for the lack of service received. Probably won't go back when visiting Sydney and definitely won't be recommending to friends or family.

Simply the best to have a great time with family. Staff were polite and helpful.

Nice place for office team lunches. They are usual big dinning place with lounge etc. liked the interesting menu specially veg corn ribs.

New clean stylish pub that will definitely be popular. Great service as soon as you enter. The staff are very welcoming and friendly. We had dinner and the food was enjoyable. The menu isn't extensive but has the usual pub options with enough to find something everyone would like. Not large serves but reasonable. Prices align to premium pub pricing.
No shortage of drink options with numerous on tap.
We went on a quiet night but parking may be tricky on busy nights. Will definitely be back.
