That is the second time in 2 months I have been invited to have lunch with friends at your Governor Hotel. I was able to get a disability parking spot right outside your front door. And the building is nicely designed, the decor is rather nice. The staff are courteous and friendly, helpful etc. But your prices are Over The Top ! I enjoyed the atmosphere my friend's and the group company there today for lunch. I ordered the Slow Braised Wagu Ragu (beef) with pappardelle pasta and buffalo mozzarella cheese. For a start $31 was VERY over the top for a pasta with a little bit of beef ! I'm guessing it was basically 85% pasta, 5% meat, 5% mozzarella and maybe 5% wine and meat juices with maybe a sprinkle of parmesan cheese on top? At that price, I would like at least 15% more meat and 15% less pasta.
At least it was better than the meal I had last time, which was that weird Thai cold fried egg they called a Poke? Yuk. I was well and truly poked by paying for that rubbish !
Today, I couldn't find a list of beverages on the menu you have on each table, so how can we choose what coffees or teas to have? So I just had to ask my friend to get me a strong cappuccino. How do we choose? What do you make? I have no idea, because you don't give us anything to choose in your menu. I couldn't even find the menu and prices online for your beverages? How do I know how to pick what beverages you have and their prices? So I gave my friend $5 to get me a strong cappuccino, there wasn't any change? Is that how much you charge for one regular size strong cappuccino? I don't know because beverages are not listed on your menu? And I paid $17.00 for one Gin and Tonic today, and I was totally shocked !! That is THE MOST I HAVE EVER PAID FOR A single GIN & TONIC drink ! One Shot. How can that be POSSIBLE ? That is almost the cost of a whole bottle of straight Gin !
I asked the barman how much for a straw, and he was being sarcastic and said $20.
I usually pay $8.00 for a Gordons Gin with Tonic, slice of lemon, in a hotel in Dee Why or Brookvale. That's where I live, on the Northern Beaches. And you think we're the "Silvertails"? You're kidding ! Yesterday at our lunch, I bought 2 tall Gin and Tonics with slice lemon, at the Terrey Hills Tavern for $17.00, one for me and one for my friend, that's $8.50 each. A much better price, and we only pay $6.10 in The Builder's Club, DY and local RSL Clubs, but I don't expect you to go that low.
So Luke, you'll need to impress me a whole lot more next time, if you want me to praise your Governor Hotel food and drink to others, and for me to keep coming back, and for me to encourage others to want to come to your LOVELY MODERN DESIGN hotel at all !
Or are you preferring just to cater to the YUPPIES, SHARPIES, the higher income younger generation? And you're not really aiming to cater to the general public, the average income people, their friends, their families, the mature age parents, the pensioners etc? As I have found that your food and alcohol prices are extremely high!
I think you would be better to price a little lower to encourage US ALL to come back more often for value. Then your Bistro tables would be filled with more people on a Sunday lunch time, not half empty like it was today.

Tried to come here last night with another couple, was sober as but denied entry because of the way I looked. No dreads or visible tattoos I was told at the door ?? What age do we live in? We Are not in the city. You re in Macquarie Park. Don t judge people on what they look like. Ended up going to the ranch and had a much better night. Wouldn t bother with this place unless youre a suit

I ve been in The Governor tonight. Classy, great atmosphere and fantastic dinner. I had pork belly and I would like to give a good rate for that. It was yummy, crispy and nice. The atmosphere is fabulous. It s worth try it once in a while. It s a bit costly so you are expecting some kind of pricey meal. It s not the one that you can go always but if you really expecting classy atmosphere and good food it s great. I had chicken butter milk for entree which was delicious. I tried steak and it was good s well. In a nutshell classy. A bot expensive but it s worth to give it a try.
I liked it

Excellent place in the heart of Macquarie Park. Place is huge with multiple levels and offers lot of privacy. Parking is issue and there are limited places in the front. If you're nearby and can walk, leave your car behind.

Thought we'd try the Governer out the other night. After reading about the amazing chef led bistro I booked a table for 2 for my wife and I. When we arrived we we're shown to the sports bar - we literally sat next to the bar - and told to order at the counter, and then given a buzzer to collect our own meals from another counter. The food was actually good and the venue itself is great, but there is a mismatch on reality vs expectations when it comes to service / type of experience.

My friend and I weren't allowed into the upstairs rooftop section due to our casual attire. Which was fine and understandable, until.
To our disappointment we saw much more inappropriately dressed patrons allowed upstairs.
A well designed place like this is brought down when its staff lacks attention to detail and they over look small matters at hand.
I felt incorrectly profiled and would prefer saving a fancy outfit for somewhere that is worth while and treats patrons accordingly.

Very average. I had the salmon main, very bland tasting no real flavour at all.
Also very expensive for the level of service, you get given a buzzer and have to collect your meal yourself. And sort out your own cutlery.
All in all very disappointing, much better places outside of North Ryde.

We made reservations at 6.30 on a Saturday night for about 10 ppl. When we got there they sent us to the roof terrace which was really nice but quite noisy (you couldn't have a conversation without screaming at each other). When we got to the roof terrace they told us someone was sitting at our table and they would sort this out immediately. 20 minutes later they told us you can't make bookings on the roof terrace and they would get us a table at the bistro After an hour, we were still on the rooftop without food We ended up having a quick pizza and had to leave as you need to leave with kids by 9 pm. Not the greatest experience.....

Mainly self served.Waiter only come to collect dishes when you're done. Waiting time is about 45 minutes and inadequate parking. Quality of cooked food give me the impression that the kitchen staff is pressed for time and as such the sirloin could not be cooked thoroughly and rested properly. Waiter is very friendly and polite.

Really big place and really good food. Collecting your food is a weird set up though. The woman just passes it you off the side. Be better if they brought it to your table or even just had something else there infront. Weird. But really nice food! No complaints ! Rooftop bar too, which is just lovely!

Had a rippa of a time at the Governor. The glasshouse kept the sun in but the wind out. Zara set the scene from the start, Josh bent over backwards to accommodate. But Alex was the star. He knows his drinks and knew how to read people and recommend drinks. 5/5 would recommend!

It's a bit of an oasis in Macquarie Park. A large venue with parking and plenty of seating and room inside. Great choice of beer and food. Interesting decor with lots of large mounted animal heads on the walls that seem out of place in the modern, bright interior (also as an a animal lover I didn't enjoy seeing them). The big issue for our table was the temperature of the food. It's was warm. The chips, pasta, steaks and burgers were all the same temperature. And the food is not cheap $30 for pasta. Did provide the feedback while there so hopefully they can address the timing issues. Aside from that we enjoyed our evening. There was not long to wait for drinks or food, and the food for our table came at the same time.

I wish I could rate the top kitchen separately to downstairs, because downstairs has an absolutely unreal selection and are so friendly and accomodating, and although the staff upstairs are always lovely aswell, the kicthen are my accomodating to any dietary requirements. I felt like I was asking for a huge favour when requesting for anything to be made vegan (even pizza with no topping) haven t been back since.

Large space for having after work drinks and a meal. Food and drink options were pleasantly varied but pricey. Came here on a very hot day and was nice and cool inside. There is also a rooftop bar which sounds great but it wasn't open due to the heat.

2 Stars because the hotel has been done well, the decor etc. But I ordered the beef burger $20 you would expect bacon but this was $4 extra! Wow this must have been the most expensive burger I have ever bought. It came out noy even hot, it matched my $12 Asahi Beer! Coming here for a few beers and lunch will cost you more that $50 not worth it for Macquarie Park.

Don't advertise specials eg. $9 cocktails if your poorly trained staff cannot even identify which cocktails are discounted and when it applies. I was charged $18 each for 2 cocktails when they were widely advertised as $9. Four different staff including floor manager refused a basic apology and became argumentative which is failing customer service 101 - a simple 'sorry for the confusion with the specials' would have sufficed but was never said. As a Ryde local I won't be back nor recommending.
