The Governor Hotel Review

Excellent food and good customer service. I've been here 10-12 times and almost tried everything and they are all taste great.

The Governor is a great (undiscovered) venue .. just a walk down from Macq Centre, Mac Uni, and Train station. Excellent Bistro, really nice staff, and large rooftop bar with cool dj. Went there with a group of friends and had a great Friday night out. Like a city venue in a suburb location !! Go there and try it.

Their schnitzel is sooo good!! Lovely atmosphere too.

I found it over priced as per the food quality and quantity.

Fire and Brimstone was off the scale. Beef short ribs and key lime pie were absolutely amazing. Cant wait to go back.

Food was average. We started at the rooftop bar. Entry was refused to one of our party wearing dress shorts. It was 28 degrees and girls in short shorts were admitted. These guys are going to loose business big time come summer.

Staff were very good. No table ordering though. You have to walk up to the kitchen bar and order and the same for collection. I thought it was a restaurant.The price of the salmon meal was way over the top. $38 for one average size salmon fillet on some soft peas and a piece of tasteless pancetta (I believe it was). That is outrageous. Add fries and a salad or even seasonal vegetables,.
It's a shame, I was looking forward to eating at this place but we were both disappointed.

Some of the ladies in general inquiries and reservations are really rude Not helpful at all but organizing team is really good. When you want to do a booking just walk to the hotel and talk with the organizing team downstairs, if not you won't be book over the phone because they are always fully booked.(That is what the lady who answer the phone says)

The place has a great vibe, the food wasn't fantastic, had the crispy pork belly that wasn't that crispy and way too fatty and greasy. The squid could have more flavour, which was saved by the aioli. Cocktatials were on the other hand very good

Finally a nice pub with great food locally to work. Nice fitout and great ambience.

It seems that my initial feedback has been deleted. Strange, so here is a reload and I'm aware that the surcharge is in the Industrial Standard. Nevertheless, you take more money compared to the CBD so you could compensate the surcharge. This is still my opinion and I will tell friends and family about the overpriced average service, sorry.

The location itself is very nice, clean and has a modern look. The food itself is average, nothing special but the prices are like in the CBD. In addition, there is no table service and you have to order as well as grab your food at the counter. What's more, is the surcharge for credit cards as well as members and visitor prices (visitors pay 2$ more in average).All in all an average experience (not bad but also nothing special) that is overpriced. I was there once but won't go there again, sorry.

The Governor is a great restaurant / bar / pub in the heart of Macquarie Park. Good for causal get togethers on the roof top and also good for a business meeting in the many private spaces.

Food's a bit pricey, but worth the atmosphere and service.

Massive mega pub in the middle of nowhere. No idea how they make any money. However, had a cracking all-dayer there so can't complain. Not too crowded. Friendly staff.

Rooftop has best views and perfect for a warm night . Can get very busy and need more stand up round tables to place your food. Food service is slow. Good mix professional crowd who there to chill but now starting to overcrowd at night with too many young people some appear too cocky and in the future expect trouble to start (eventually ruining it for all by bringing in heavy handed security - security need stamp out the loud mouthed , bullying types early in the night)

Good food but resturant noise levels were off the chart. Had more of a food court feel to it and impossible to park

Great atmosphere, shared the salmon platter with 6 other friends along with a few sides and it was an amazing experience

We had a wonderful time for my partners 70th birthday! Service was excellent and everyone was super helpful and accommodating. It made the difference especially during this times of the pa denis more so that my partner is not well . So thank you to the staff of The Governor for being there for us! Well done to the team. Please keep up your beautiful caring attitude as this is rare nowadays.

Quite nicely done. We ate upstairs on balcony ..would not recommend to eat upstairs at night as the music was soo noisy and the smoke drift from the smokers was awful. The sweet potato fries and dipping sauce yum yum yum. Downstairs looked beautiful so would probably recommend there for a group dinner . We did go on a Saturday night tho round 7pm.

Best for business gatherings. Great food specially the slow cooked lamb shoulder.

Atmosphere and roof top bar were great. Good quality food but pricey... Plenty of staff but many at downstairs bar appeared inexperienced and generally disinterested in pouring beers... Rooftop bar staff where great! The Governor Hotel has the potential to be a good pub in the future.

Great ambience, comfortable environment and convenient location in Macquarie Park. The food and drinks menu are exquisite and gourmet. The Governor hotel is a great restaurant to have relaxing time with friends and family. Definitely recommend.

Big place with good atmosphere, good food. My only real complaint is that there is a speaker in each booth and its a bit too loud for my taste. Makes it hard to talk to people across the table.

Brand new place, brand new attitude - the staff here deserve a bonus for being so damn nice and friendly. Really stands out in Sydney.

Great place for venue hire for 20 to 50 people. Seating area can be converted to indoors or opened up for some sunshine. Bar has excellent selection of spirits as well as +10selection of craft beer on tap. There is on site parking but not as many as The Ranch

We were a group of 10-12 people. The whole thing started with a lot of confusion as we have booked early and seems like they didn't know where to put us. When we finally got our food, it was too salty. We had the chicken burger and the bacon pizza.

Quite a grand building, impressive looking from the outside. Interior is interesting with loads of different vibes and decor. The food was amazing, and the staff super friendly. Definitely going back!

It's a good place to have a few drinks and nibbles. I've been here a few times with work colleagues.

Unfortunately on our last visit we encountered a bouncer with a 'mall cop' type attitude that really put a damper on our night.

I didn't know this place existed before I went there for a work farewell. Great space, beautifully furnished and reasonably priced. Ideal for work drinks or lunches.

Great pub in an area with and it's the only one in Macquarie park. Expect it to be busy during Friday lunch time and if you re in a group, making a booking. Good choices of beer and the food is great. Highly recommend chilling out in the rooftop bar. It definitely has a cool vibe and is pretty chilled out.
parking can be tricky if coming during the day.

Overpriced food with seriously sad portions for your monies worth but the deco & atmosphere was definitely a real cool vibe considering where its located

This place was amazing. It's unique style is something that is very unique to the North Ryde area. We went during lunch time and it was a nice quiet place for a afternoon drink.

The staff are very friendly. They have a BIG selection of beers on tap and large selection of liquor. Even their coffee is amazing.

Nice newish venue. Friendly staff and security. Meal options are varied, innovative and for what I had, certainly did not disappoint. Has a rooftop bar but wasn't open at lunchtime. Will be going back for sure.

No Foxtel and only 2 TVs for such a fancy place I was quite disappointed to find this when me and friends had gone there to watch a game I ve never seen a pub that doesn t have Foxtel very strange, definitely not a place for sports fans

Went For bottomless brunch & had Alex waiting us - on top of the great service he provided, he made the experience and time there that much more memorable!
Would highly recommend going here to celebrate a special occasion :)

We ve made this our favourite destination around where we live. Modern atmosphere, excellent food, great concept, and friendly staff. I would suggest walking around first and seeing the many rooms and decor. Venture upstairs as well and then find an area that suits you best. Also, download the Momento app and you ll save by being a member :) tell the staff before placing your order!

Amazing ambiance i would say! Food choice was on a lesser side but I cant complain much as it is a Pub after all . But we were very happy with what we ordered.

Fantastic brunch experience - the food was delicious and generous. The cocktails were divine and the service from the staff was impeccable. The atmosphere was welcoming and relaxed and we were treated like very valued guests. I would highly recommend The Governor Brunch experience.

Just had dinner here the other night and all I can say is wow! Courtney was fantastic and really helpful while taking our orders - thanks for the tip on the FB cheesburger it was totally delicious. Pairing this with a classy cocktail made by the bartending guru Alex how can you go wrong! Can't wait to visit again.

Sensational food and service. A great hidden gem.

The aesthetic and cleanliness is what makes it such a great social hangout spot! But the quality of the food for the price was disappointing.

Absolutely incredible experience. Best customer service I've experience in a long while, my partner and I were greeted at the door but a very affable host (we then went to talk about business - I'm a mural artist and saw an opportunity to create some work for myself). We were given a brief tour, then welcomed by another waitress, she was witty and very welcoming. At the bar, both bartenders had extensive knowledge of their drinks and menu. One bartender went above and beyond, firstly with the best Espresso Martini we've ever had, then with his caring nature. Incredible experience all round, and that's without mention how amazing the interior styling is.
