Things I did like:

Things I did like:
1. The sunset and the ocean view from the restaurants.
2. The food was great.

Things I didn t like:
1. Bad customer service. Some of the employees they seem that they don t care much to accommodate your needs.
2. They don t provide water in the room except for a 2 litre bottle when you arrive and two 300ml bottles during the day. Some of us have to keep hydrated due to some health requirements . Hot weather requires lot of drinking water.
3. The rooms are blah for the price, nothing amazing.
4. The food was great but way too expensive! I asked for a double shot tequila in a margarita and I was charged double as in a margarita is 14$, asking a second tequila shot in it, made my margarita be priced at 28$. Ripoff!
5. The AC doesn t do much in the room. Has only two settings (high and low), and the high setting doesn t get the job done!

We stayed at this place for a work event and after we moved at Mauna Kea Beach Hotel and is times better!

Cannot say enough about this place. Unbelievable staff and service. all restaurants were outstanding and the pool and beaches were amazing and very private. Felt very safe. has its own lauos. great place for kids and couples. you can spend the whole week at the resort but would recommend renting a car to explore other parts of the island. everything was very clean and the rooms are so spacious. great views of the sunset every night

Great resort! The lagoon is really nice and there are green sea turtles on the beach nearby. They have a trio of hammocks next to the beach that are nice for relaxing after a sunset. The concierge team have lots of options for excursions, including manta rays tours during the day or at night, and snorkeling adventures. Very easy to book and it makes sense to book through the hotel. Great resort, will definitely visit again!

Stayed at the Fairmont Orchid for a conference and the hotel proper has great, full-sized and up-to-date rooms. Food is usual resort pricing but is better overall than some nearby resorts. Nice sand beach and good pool, easy parking access. This resort area is isolated from the rest of the island so it can be an effort to make it into Kailua-Kona or Hilo from here, or some of the national parks on the island, but everything should be at most a day trip away. This is my second trip to the area and overall I've preferred the Fairmont Orchid over the Hilton.

We were at this hotel for an outdoor event so we only saw the grounds, but everything we saw was great. The grounds were very well maintained, the landscaping was beautiful, and the toilet facilities smelled like fresh lemongrass. I would go back.

Beautiful resort! Great access to a man-made beach with the ability to rent out special cabanas. Lots of great activities including hula and a tour of the life in a tide pool. The rooms were nice, though our bed was very creaky/noisy. Staff was wonderful and accommodating. Highly recommend!

Gracious, polite, professional, easy going staff. Wonderfully landscaped and beautifully laid out. Love the open air lounge - the most fantastic evening view anywhere. The chef recommendations were all fantastic. The cafe breakfast and lunch items are delicious. The beach and ocean cover all you sea desires and make it so convenient. 10 minutes north at the state park the waves make for easy body surfing. Yes, go there. You will return as we did and bring guests.

This hotel is by far one of the better ones on the big island and has some of the most efficient and friendly staff. Right from Ciera at the front desk who made check-in seem like a breeze, to Chris, Sherry, Caelan, Edward and Destiny who were fantastic waiting on our tables.

We had the deluxe ocean view room and it lived up to its name. We had fantastic views of the ocean and the room was spacious and comfortable. I almost feel guilty for not spending as much time in it!

The breakfast buffet is a really nice spread with plenty of variety. It can certainly get crowded around 9 AM but that's only a testament to how great the food is and how much variety you have to choose from.

The beach in the hotel is a pretty good one to just relax by or do some light snorkeling or paddle boarding. You can see some of the local fish pretty close to shore.

There are plenty of good restaurants in the hotel and each has a wonderful view of the ocean. Service is efficient, food arrives quickly and the staff are truly fantastic.

I wouldn't normally stay at the same hotel twice, but I would definitely go back to the Fairmont orchid.

Perfect. All you can hope for in a Hawaiian vacation. gorgeous Private beaches, amazing snorkeling, sea turtles, huge pool, jacuzzi (kinda hot though), 3 places to eat from, close to airport and comfortable clean rooms.

The building is old but spacious and luxurious. As it was not crowded at all, both pool and beach were usable spaciously. There aren't many Japanese people and I like coming overseas.
It may be hard for Japanese to accept that the door is heavy and hot water is not immediately available, but I think it is a good hotel for adults to relax.

Great resort. Large rooms, great location and keeping with the 5 diamond standards, amazing service. Check in was friendly and efficient, even with a trainee. The rooms were clean and spacious. The meals were amazing. Make sure you get some snorkelling gear (the hotel has plenty) and go look at all the schools of fish, turtles and if you are lucky a manta ray.

I had no idea what an outstanding resort this is. Liberty Travel recommended this property and i will be thanking them when we get home. From the pristine grounds to the top notch staff and outstanding food, this was a perfect Hawaiian vacation experience. The fantastic pool, the pristine protected beach, shuttles to great nearby shopping... and a resort that never seemed crowded even during winter break week. It's just a very classy place without the snobby feel and clientele that I have seen at other resorts. This place is a gem and I will now be seeking out Fairmont properties for future vacations. To all the staff at the Fairmont Orchid: outstanding job! Thank you for making our vacation so enjoyably and memorable. We will almost certainly be back!

This is an outstanding property on the Big Island.

They have an incredible pool, fantastic views, and the hotel is beautiful. I always look forward to dropping by the Fairmont Orchid when I'm in Hawaii.

Here's a tip, the beach path will lead you south to a few other hotels, such as the Mauni Lani. If you go just before sunset, you can typically see turtles sleeping on the beach.

Gorgeous views, staff service is second only to the Loew's in South Beach, beautiful grounds, comfortable rooms. Options for eating without leaving are limited and pricey, but if you are spending the cost of the flight and ticket to come to this remarkable place, I don't think you should be expecting $10 room service dinners and chain restaurant prices. The pool is breathtaking, especially at sunset. Katelynne and Dave made a great stay even better hopefully you'll have the pleasure of dealing with them.

What an incredibly lovely place! Located right on the oceanfront there's a fabulous beach floor swimming and snorkeling protected from the rough surf. The grounds are themselves spectacular! There are several restaurants on the property which offer a wide variety of dining experiences. This is a beautiful spot!

I used to rate as a 5 star...but they discontinued their Vegan menu (which was a big draw for us). Now, they have a couple of vegan choices or...the less desireable alternatives of : "this entree is vegan if you leave out the cheese", etc. Not the creative offerings one might expect from a true 5 star establishment. They did have one vegan entree which was not on the menu (?) & was a very delicious and generous "vegetable bowl" and a good value. Of the two vegan entrees on the menu, the cauliflower / mushroom dish was truly delicious- but a very meager portion for the price. The other was an eggplant dish which we didn't try. Unfortunately, although the service was above par...the fare has slipped a bit. As the US population of vegans has grown 600% over the last 5 years, most fine restaurants are adding MORE vegan options to their menu's - not less. Still a beautiful setting and quality experience overall.

The staff is super friendly, professional and know how to make your stay amazing and memorable. The resort amenities are plentiful but expensive. Be prepared to spend money on just about everything they offer. The rooms are very nice but aging quickly. Washrooms are where you see it most apparently. Otherwise a totally cool spot!
