Service was excellent as was the staff and the food in both restaurants
My stay at Hotel Macdonald was amazing. The service was nothing short of impeccable from the moment I stepped out of the cab and before I even entered the building. Each person I encountered was friendly and knowledgeable. In fact, the front desk staff would often address me by name which made my experience all the more special and personalized! I'm looking forward to returning in June.
Beautiful historic hotel in a great location. Luxury accomodations done well.
Came to the harvest room again recently for a bridal shower high tea and I have to rate it 5 stars for its amazing service. This was a surprise bridal shower and so I made several phone calls and spoke to multiple people to get the details right. Despite my very specific instructions and requests, they were very accommodating and followed through with everything perfectly. I made sure to tell them not to mention to arriving guests that it's a bridal shower. There was almost a slip up from the staff when arriving but everything else went smoothly. Auriana helped me with the initial booking and I couldn't ask for a better venue to host a party. High Tea came as a set menu, but you should call ahead if there's dietary restrictions so that they can accommodate. There was so much food, we got to pack some home. This was a very positive experience.
Was there for a wedding. The ballroom looked great and the food was pretty good. The view from the balcony was decent but the balcony itself was a good social space.
Awesome hotel, first class service with first class food. We went to the Christmas eve dinner with a large group and had a great time with amazing food. Great job.
Exquisite, historic and elegant with unparalleled service
Great hotel for downtown Edmonton. Friendly staff and a greater dog.
Beautiful location and impeccable service as you would expect from the Fairmont. Reynaldo does a great job with the cocktails in the Confederation Lounge.
Great experience well worth paying for the valet parking!
This is the best landmark hotel in Edmonton over looking beautiful river valley, big rooms and great customer service.
With the weekends bad weather we decided to have a staycation at the Hotel MacDonald. Sometimes its nice to be a tourist in your own neighborhood. Our expectations were exceeded by Janelle, Client Relations and Michael, Brand Ambassador by executing every detail I requested with genuine enthusiasm. Not to be out done was the luxury of the King George Suite, truly spectacular. Amazing hotel and even better staff! Thanks for making our night special.
Booked a room to have a party celebrating successful completion of a certification exam and training program. The party went off flawlessly. Catering managers Angelica and Stephanie were a pleasure to work with. Post-party we had dinner at the Harvest Room and Nipun looked after us very nicely.
The staff at the Hotel Macdonald always make sure that every single detail is covered.
Went to the confederate lounge for my fiances dinner. Service was excellent, and the food was delicious. They even had arnold palmers as a drink option!
The Sunday brunch in the empire ballroom at the MacDonal Hotel is beyond amazing. The service is above anything else you will find in Edmonton. They treat each guest like royalty. The food is very high quality and there is something for everyone including dietary restrictions. I would reccomend this to anyone looking for a high class experience. The cost isn't too high for the quality of service and food.
Attended the Stampeder event during Grey Cup, and had dinner at the resturant. Meals were ok, but overpriced for what was recieved. The decor is beautiful
Spectacular upscale hotel in a great locations that offers sensational service
Went here for breakfast, knowing it would be expensive. Food was good and the portions were large but not as good as expected.
Everything was excellent. Great service and valet. Lovely establishment.
Spent a night here with my wife and two children. The service is second to none. We have visited before with my daughter for lunch. They always treat her like a "princess". She calls this hotel a "castle".
Everything was great! Very clean, nice facilities. Good all around.
I've never stayed in the rooms, so I can't speak to that, but the heritage of the building and the restaurants in the hotel are incredible. With a friendly staff, knowledgeable bartenders, and an amazing view of Edmonton's river valley, this is an ideal location for a post work drink, a relaxing glass of wine, or a nice place for a date night.
Beautiful and historic hotel in downtown Edmonton. Love that the hotel has tried to preserve it's heritage over the years! Rooms, service and view from the main lobby bar are exceptional. Also, the resident dog that is available for everyone to enjoy is a truely unique touch I have never seen before in another hotel.
Beautiful room, great location. Wish we had longer to stay!
The food was excellent, but portion size was a bit small
A castle in the heart of the city, absolutely magnificent and exceptional service! Took my oath of citizenship 2 weeks prior to traveling to Edmonton, upon check-in, their front desk congratulated me and I thought it was because of the free night stay certificate I won for their hotel. To my surprise, we arrived in our room with a Canadian flag on our bed, chocolate amenity on the desk and a frame that says congratulations on your citizenship ... we were just blown away! Luke always made us feel like VIPs whenever we arrived at the hotel while Harold and Paula from the restaurant took care of us consistently during breakfast. Thank you Hotel Macdonald for a memorable stay!
Great service in one of edmonton's best character venues
The staff were very attentive, knowledgeable of the buildings history, and surrounding city scene. They were available at any time for assistance if needed. Very welcoming and friendly
My husband and I's favourite Fairmont! We stayed on Gold level - couldn't have been happier! Service and helpfulness of everyone we encountered was fantastic, and the food pretty excellent! We ate so much in the evening and watched hockey in the lounge. It was very peaceful and quiet! We had plans for breakfast, but popped by to grab coffee and the Server offered us pastries to go! All the Fairmont's have ruined other hotels for us!
Stunningly beautiful, and as always pristine service. Attended an awards gala here, 3rd year in a row, and never fails to impress. Bravo!
My Mom and I were visiting Edmonton on business and were lucky enough to stay on the gold level floor. The customer service at this hotel truly made our trip so special! Special shout out to Keenan who was particularly attentive and just so incredibly lovely.
I would also like to mention that my Mom had caught a cold during our trip, so we requested an extra box of Kleenex from one of the cleaning ladies very briefly while she was in the hall. Later that evening when we returned to the room, there was a humidifier in the room, as well as a hot pot of water with multiple types of herbal teas, lemons, honey, and fresh little flowers. Truly exceptional, over the top service. I can t wait to come back!
It's a very classic hotel with amazing views. Friendly staff.
Beautiful place, look up its history you will be surprised!
We attended afternoon tea. While it was nice, we weren't "blown away" as we've been at other high teas
Beautiful, clean, classy hotel. Very professional service.
Classy and full of Historic Decor. Rooms are clean and updated, and the views are amazing. Most of all the staff are really great. They really take the time to make sure you are comfortable. I would recommend this place to anyone who lives in Edmonton or visiting.
Service was fantastic. Decor was upscale. The food was tasty
Great hotel with upscale amenities. I particularly like their gym with the salt water pool
Sat on the beautiful patio for drinks. Service was wonderful and the view can't be beat.
Great scenery in the backyard, amazing staff and great infrastructure overall.
The valet parking team had a fine time in my car. I initially found the seat adjustment handle broken after I got my car back, the picture then changed after I found a ladies flask of coconut rum in the passenger side door pocket. So I can only deduce what sexual act took place. I complained and was ignored. I complained again in person and was told it would be looked at. Still no response-- very very disappointed. I have been to Edmonton 4 times since and stayed elsewhere. Fairmont, you have a problem. Maybe one day, they will respond.
Great place to spend you lunch or just to relax. Best patio in town in my opinion!
Very beautiful inside but outside needs a good cleaning
The Royal Tea and tour is always a great way to impress somebody on their birthday or anniversary.
Top notch service in an iconic Edmonton building. The Confederation Lounge is the perfect spot for a beverage while the snow falls outside.
Beautiful view of the river valley, and beautifully manicured garden.
I was really disappointed with my stay here both times. The first time we were originally given a room that hadn t been cleaned and had to be moved to another room. The showers are very powerful and they hurt. The maid also left the shower head pointing out of the tub causing it to flood the entire bathroom floor when I turned it on, even though the curtain was closed. The second time I stayed the phone didn t work, so I couldn t order room service in the morning. They put your bill under the door in the middle of the night and they are not careful about it. The bill made a lot of noise when they shoved it under the door and woke me up with a fright at 4 a.m. when I was already not getting enough sleep. The hotel is beautiful and I expected a lot better. I wish my stay had been better because I don t know of a prettier hotel in Edmonton. I don t think I ll be returning to this hotel because it has so many issues.
Was best man at a wedding here. Great service from the hotel staff! Staff were very accommodating for wedding photo needs. Food service was excellent and staff were very kind and polite. The hotel features beautiful architecture both inside and out. Thanks so much!
So upset with our stay that I'm writing it from the hotel.
We booked the Churchill suite because we wanted a relaxing night to watch the sunset before our long drive to BC the next day. Not to be...
-Churchill suite is a city view room, on the booking screen it says it is a river/valley view. We were looking into an office building 100 ft away.
-Changed us to a room with a view that was half the size, but wouldn't change the rate.
-Shower did not work in the new room and most of the hardware was loose. Asked if we could be changed to room where everything works so we can just relax, they said they had no other rooms. When I made the reservation with the hotel directly earlier in the day, they said they had plenty of availability..
-We did end up talking to management about all of this and the woman I talked to was very nice and apologetic. She took a small amount off our bill, which was a nice gesture.
-After we asked to be moved a second time due to the shower not working the person who checked us in on the gold floor was incredibly rude when we came back to the gold lounge.
We have only recently had issues with the Fairmont brand (now Accor). We spend on average 150 days per year in hotels, and always enjoyed our time at Fairmont properties. This will most likely be the last time we stay at these hotels, if we can help it.
We had great service and enjoyed beautiful views of the Edmonton river valley.
Was here for a conference, and it was poorly planned and laid out, forcing visitors to travel to multiple interior locations which would've made little sense if you weren't paying close attention. Not totally the buildings fault. Otherwise, the lobby and the rooms are great, as well as it's location and views, now situated beside the Edmonton funicular, granting relatively easy access to the river valley.
Every time I go to the Fairmont, the staff are fantastic and the food is amazing.
Attended a Christmas Lunch with my company for the third year this year.
Stayed here twice. First time was for my wedding and I left explicit instructions for champagne, roses etc. to be in our suite when we arrived but they were not there. Second time was for an anniversary as a throwback to our wedding and I was told there would be rose petals, lavender, and candles waiting but instead I got a handful of fake, plastic petals and some cheap battery-powered tea lights (which they charged me $50 for).
The rooms themselves are nice, the lounge is great, and the grounds are gorgeous. But considering they pride themselves on being the only 4-star hotel in Edmonton you would think they would take customer service a little more seriously.
Our stay was absolutely amazing. The staff impressed beyond expectations.
Great service. Stayed on the 7th floor and the lounge was great. .
Great bar, lovely atmosphere, brilliant Christmas decorations.
The hotel, built in 1915, is full of the history of the city of Edmonton, the favorite of the Jasper Room and the Valley Garden in front of the Havest Room. There is also a white Labrador working dog, although still ten years old, still doing his best.
I love this hotel. It s a synonym of class and quality!
Great atmosphere. High tea was delicious, and the tour was great, the staff was awesome and friendly. I would go back again.
Excellent, in line with all Fairmont hotels I've been to. Great location, amazing staff, great lounge for a morning coffee, mid-day drink or a late night cap.
Like all other hotels, staff goes above and beyond to ensure your stay is comfortable!
10/10 would recommend.
When the weather is nice nothing beats the view at the Fairmont court yard. The menu is basically a good quality pub but the prices don't justify the finished product, over priced nachos and burgers and what not.
Great view of the valley, stately building, great service, rooms can be good or average
High tea is a must. Perfect for a mother daughter outing!
Awsome fully cooked and hot take home Christmas Turkey Dinner for families!
We had an amazing time for our 5th wedding anniversary! The Fairmont always takes good care of their guests.
The service is always second to none! Delightful place to stay or just visit. Can't be beat.
Beautiful place awesome atmosphere comfortable and professional staff
We just celebrated an anniversary at the Fairmont Macdonald, with our new 15 month old puppy, Moosa. Wow. They treated us (and Moosa) remarkably well. What a special place. Kayla and Anirudh have us on cloud 9. Thank You.
