Great night's sleep. Turned away for food three minutes before deadline.
Great night's sleep. Turned away for food three minutes before deadline.
Had an enjoyable supper at the Harvest Room recently. It's a beautiful dining space in the classy Hotel Mac, and the service was what stood out the most. The waiter was professional, very courteous, present, but not overbearing, checking in discreetly and warmly. It's the type of place where they'll graciously seat you, and drape the napkin over your lap. It's those little things sometimes. As to the food, it was excellent and expertly prepared, but not entirely the most groundbreaking. Think of very well executed fine food staples such as rib eye, rack of lamb, gnocchi, a fish option, etc paired with charred asparagus, creamed root vegetable, chanterelle mushrooms, and so on. Absolutely competently cooked and seasoned, but again, nothing unexpected. Is that a bad thing? No. They know what they're doing and do it well. We had a glass of wine each, the mushroom bisque and a fall-themed panzanella salad to start, rare steak and gnocchi as the mains, and shared a slice of cheesecake for a grand total of about $170. Personally, for the asking price, I just prefer a little twist, a little exoticism. We left full and wholly pleased with the experience, but there's certainly more interesting places to hit up downtown.
Went for a brunch social meeting. Amazing friendly serivce. Everything was clean. Brunch was a bit stale as we went late and the food had been out a while. Which was a bit disappointing. However that being said they did make some fresh itiems for members pf our party who were more upset then the rest of us
Needs new paint and vacuuming underneath the tables.
Old hotel which is cool, rooms are drab and overpriced. Time for a reno!
A nice location overlooking the river valley. Very nice staff. The wind can be brutal sometimes but all and all it is a nice spot
We loved our experience at the hotel. Everyone was so friendly, helpful and welcoming. Thank you once again for making our stay in Edmonton memorable.
Beautiful venue. Good services. Food is overpriced.
Amazing. Service is top notch and the food and drinks are great. Definitely will be coming back
The staff is extremely helpful, the facilities are very clean, the rooms are big and nicely laid out and dogs are allowed overnight except on one floor, the restaurants and in the courtyard. Very happy with our stay and highly recommend.
Amazing friendly staff and cocktail parings with any food choice and the most beautiful view from the patio. Probably the best wings in town!
Nice and friendly place to stay and peaceful atmosphere
Great service, beautiful facilities and garden & dog friendly.
Always a pleasure to attend an event at "The Mac". Love getting a visit from the hotel dog. Food is always delicious and banquet facilities are great. What can you say about the location.
I miss the included mimosas (they are now $5 each), other than that the food and experience were amazing.
Fairmont was a pleasant experience I attended a wedding the venue was fantastic. The hotel overlooks the valley so it is a great photo opportunity for guests staying at the hotel. The staff were friendly and efficient I enjoyed my overnight stay.
We stayed for a few nights in the signature rooms. They were absolutely amazing and the staff was so professional. We couldn't have asked for a better experience.
Fairmont is always an excellent experience. Fab location, great service, adorable welcome dog, outstanding gym: clean, spacious, well equipped.
Great international standard hospitality and excellent location
Beautiful hotel and beautiful view of the city. A little difficult to find parking, but all in all a great place.
Wonderful ballroom facilities and staff who go above and beyond to be accommodating.
We were in the Empire Ballroom for a wedding function (Sangeet). Food and service were excellent, and we had a lot of fun. This response was completed as part of a Google Opinions Reward survey.
Great atmosphere and my wife and I loved the character of the hotel!! Got treated very well and enjoyed our night here!!
Great brunch as expected. Love the Empire Room, great atmosphere and service.
The food and the venue was excellent. The hotel attendants were very polite.
Crappy wifi, slow room service. Great beds and pillows, ecceexcel fitness facility. Decent bar and snavks on gold floor.
Harvest Room for dinner was a real treat. Great view and great food. Parking was easiest at adjacent lot.
The meal was of very high quality and quite nice. The only complaint that I would have was would be that the quality of gin used in a mixed cocktail was below the standard that I would expect out of a high quality institution like the Fairmont.
Went there for a family event. The food was delicious, but was served pretty sporadically and late for some guests. The bartender was pretty good at making sure people's wines were full but on a few occasions we had to find someone as no one was at the bar or in the room.
Great patio and view, over priced and not good service in my opinion
The bar here is easily one of my favourite experiences in Edmonton. The Hotel Mac stands as a timeless edifice of class. Impeccable service and drinks, and a good but unsurprising menu.
Went here with our mobile VR unit for a company Christmas party. Their staff are amazing and very accommodating. Food looked and smelled good but didnt have a chance to try it ourselves. The whole place has high standards of cleanliness.
Great place to get drinks! The service is always impeccable!
Unlike a few restaurants in Edmonton that pretend to be upscale, this place checks every box. Fantastic decor, excellent service and staff, top notch food and a lovely view of the river valley. I'd rather save my money by not eating at earls once a week and instead eat here once a month.
Great venue for our group of about 100 people. Food was excellent and I had a great time!
The ambience was beautiful, but the high tea was a bit disappointing for the cost. The site was willing to make modifications to the high tea when requested that no alcohol be in the items, but the alternatives were a bit disappointing. The scones were delightful though.
Fantastic service from all staff. Room was small on the 2nd floor, but was enough for 1 or 2 people. Views are nice. Everything you need is there. Would enjoy staying there again, especially if staying on a floor higher up.
This hotel says the price is 191 per night (when I google the hotel) but when you click to the website it says a price much higher!!! Bad business practice. I don't like it already. Not staying here.
I could brunch here all day everyday. One piece of advice; take your time, enjoy the food, the ballroom or terrace, the service. Enjoy the luxury, of feeling you get while at the Fairmont Hotel. We all feel fancy when we are there so embrace it and enjoy.
Harvest room restaurant has great food. Little expensive but worth it
Staff, building, garden, are all amazing. Looks like the bed spreads have been updated recently. Bathrooms are a bit dated and the tub pooled while taking a shower.
Service was great and the hotel was beautiful, but the restaurant leaves a little to be desired - the gnocchi was dry and underseasoned compared to the steak.
Went to the Fairmont Hotel MacDonald for brunch. Food was fantastic as well as the service. Located in their ballroom which was beautiful. The ballroom was attached to a patio and grassy area that overlooked the river valley - gorgeous! They also had some lawn games available outside. Great experience.
Amazing Hotel. Look into gold Suites. I wish I had known about them sooner. Fairmont MacDonald is a luxurious hotel and the prices are high.
The rooms are large and good quality. However, the rooms walls are thin. I can hear my neighbors speak at night pretty well.
A very elegant establishment, service was superb. But unfortunately I thought $15 for a glass of wine was hard to swallow
Great staff and atmosphere. Breakfast buffet over priced.
Had a great little holiday experience for lunch with the babies
A beautiful hotel located in a part of downtown with incredible views. Staff were friendly and helpful. Really enjoyed the stay, and gardens on the backside of the hotel.
Immaculately clean and beautiful.
Excellent value for the full service attention and elegance of the Hotel.
Great service!
Parking price is outrageous! You would think that it would be included but its not. And same with Wi-Fi..its not included!
Had a Sunday brunch date with my wife and could not be any happier, service and food were fantastic
Love this place. Stayed in the hotel just to feel pampered. On special occasions we go to the lounge with friends and always have fun. The service is amazing and the food is great. One of my favorite places in the city.
We had a ypo party there for kids and adults. It was a blast.
High tea and royal tour was a fantastic getaway for a "staycation" amongst a few girlfriends and myself. Absolutely recommend!
A beautiful historic building overlooking the river valley. $40 self parking. Gigantic gingerbread castle in the lobby with a beautiful tree.
Classy place to have a drink, great service and the most beautiful patio in the city.
Wifi is not included with the room. This is pretty much a guarantee at any other hotel. Also, the parking is not included in the room fee and also not attached to the hotel. That may be forgiven since this is an older hotel
I wish I could have stayed longer. Arrived late at night and went to bed checked out in morning.
Breakfast at the Harvest Room. Nice atmosphere, very good service. Food was also really good, though perhaps not as much variety as I would have liked. Overall excellent.
Staff was professional as always and selection for their buffet brunch is always a delight with the wide amounts of food they provide.
Stunning view of the River Valley. Quaint patio that's coveted so you can enjoy your cocktail in the rain.
Great rooms. Very clean and comfortable. The view of the river valley is breathtaking and the staff are very friendly and accommodating. Nicholas and Jennifer at the reception were great.
Come in for mid afternoon drinks and snack. Service was fine but I expected top notch from the Fairmont. Snacks were tasty not nothing was particularly amazing except for the mushroom soup was great, very rich and full of flavors. Cocktails were inventive and fresh. Tea was very good. Overall it was good but over priced. Also, parking is $9 an hour so if your planning on staying for 2 or 3 hours, just get the valet.
From the moment you enter the lobby you feel welcome always greeted warmly by staff
Nella the concierge is second to none a warm caring Italian lass, who gives advise from her heart
My husband needed a lawyer to deal with an international issue . The person Nella chose was spot on
Her restaurant suggestions excellent
Thank you for a stress less visit
A good concierge makes a great hotel
Fairmount MacDonald down by far the best amazing beautiful views very old architecture right downtown and the river valley you can't go wrong close to any concert great great Courtyard out front easy to get in and out and the service is impeccable you still get a little mint on the bed
This location is the best location in downtown Edmonton to see the river valley. The ambiance is great since this hotel is over 100 years old and is full of history. So if you want views and history then this is the place for you. It s got great amenities. The staff is friendly and courteous. It s the best place in Edmonton to stay if you can afford it, that is to say with the history and ambiance it comes with a premium. If you re looking for an experience to enjoy Edmonton come to this hotel.
August 4-5, 2020. Enjoyed our stay here. Had a deluxe room with a king sized bed. It was comfortable and everything was clean.
Classic Edmonton location with a beautiful riverfront patio. Fairmont service is always exceptional, the gold level upgrade is worth the extra. River views or city views, hard to go wrong.
Just totally love the outdoor deck off of the lounge. I doubt the view is any nicer anywhere in the city. The food is fantastic . The crab cakes are to die for. Crab cakes and cosmopolitans, really could you ask for anything more?
Simply the best. From the front door, to check in, to the room, to the views, to the gym, to the food. The only place I always look forward to returning.
Props to Luke at the Front Door. I try to trick him with different vehicles, goatee, shaved, different glasses, he always knows me right away. I don t know how he does it.
Not at all like other Fairmont experiences. Room was not available until 2 hours after stated check in time. Room is dated, wallpaper patched and peeling off the walls. Chairs in the bar are frayed and the stuffing is visible on the arms. Friday evening and the only restaurant on the property was a private party, so only place to eat was the bar. I understand it is an historic building, but the property needs updating, and it needs to be representative of the Fairmont Brand
The Fairmont hotel Macdonald is an amazing hotel and experience. The site itself is amazing and so beautiful, very well kept. The back patio is wonderful. I can't say enough about the staff, Manny Nicolas and Adam especially are amazing they make you feel at home and like family. This is such a fantastic place to stay I was amazed comfortable and at home here. I highly recommend this hotel based on my personal stay.
