Beware the Tiny Tots classes. The website is unclear about guests (unclear about most things really). If you are not registered for a class (I.e., you just come to take picture of your loved ones) they will literally kick you out of the building in front of your family.

I reserved a class for my girlfriend and I for her Christmas present, and paid $185 for the both of us, more for the experience than for just the food. Unfortunately I somehow missed the date and showed up a week later than the actual class I had reserved - my fault. The employee mentioned a confirmation email that I should have gotten which I never did. I was able to show her on my phone where I had purchased the spots in the class, and asked about getting rescheduled. She said no, that only if I contacted them ahead of time. So I asked her and said So you get my $185 and I get nothing? She said yes, because they order the portions of food and pay the staff for the meal I was supposed to attend. While she was nice about it, there was no flexibility, no confirmation email sent to me, and nothing they were willing to do other than keep my money. To keep $185 of someone s money and just to tell them they are out of luck is not good customer service. The other reviews on here are legit. Regardless of me missing the class, they could have offered to do something - let me reschedule, or give half the money back, or something. I reserved a storage unit a week ago that I went in to occupy today, and they sent 3 emails in that week reminding me, thanking me, etc. In 3 weeks time from purchasing the class, I received nothing, but they sure kept my money. It s a moral issue. Legally they did nothing wrong. Morally they did nothing right.
My wife and I went to the knife skills class and had a great time. Our only complaint is a small one; we wish the snacks were prepared by the Center instead of purchased by Costco. The Center should prep snacks based on upcoming classes.
Tip to the owner: If you had an ipad mounted somewhere people would be able to sign up for classes right there. It's a no-brainer... a high-intent audience who just had a good time in one of your classes is very likely to convert to repeat customers if you lower the barrier to conversion. We left with intentions to sign up for another class but you can't take intentions to the bank. We'd have signed up for another class on the spot last night. Food for thought (ha - see what I did there??)
Fabulous! Came here with a work group and was not sure what to expect. vicky was very informative and the other 2 ladies were very helpful. The food was awesome. very comfortable and fun atmosphere.
Very disappointed in the fish fry meal we received. We were looking forward it - but fish coating was tough and flavorless, the macaroni and cheese was cold, as was the cornbread (which was also dry). The coleslaw and cupcakes (although small) were good. So after waiting in pickup line for 45 minutes- big expensive disappointment.
I recently attended a corporate team builder here. They served an excellent lunch to start, and then guided us through making casseroles which they later gave to charity. Finally we wrapped up with tasty beverages from their bar. Lots of fun and for a good cause!
Don't recommend. I understand that this is a business but to tell me "family emergencies happen all the time" when my mother just had a stroke which is why we couldn't make the class is highly inappropriate. I will tell anyone and everyone I know to avoid this place like the plague.
You guys. This was SUCH a great date night with my hubs. We had a blast learning to cook an authentic Italian meal. First off: An appetizer, with an Aperol Spritz! A full course meal -chicken and three sides, made by us, and then a slam dunk dessert-my guy traded me so he could finish my desert off. We has so much fun and could shop in the kitchen store during our down time! Props to bartender if you need extra drinks!
Tuesdays lunch for $12 includes the meal, dessert and a drink! Today's dish was a Kifta Kabob with a Kale and Chickpea salad. Dessert was a rice pudding with cardamom and a brittle. Everything was great! They also offer take home prepared meals in their cooler.
Terrible customer service! Owner was not willing to offer another class...or refund! There have been many posts made about owner being rude etc. I'd seek out one of the many other places that offer similar services instead of rolling the dice and hoping the owner is in the be nice to the customer mood.
We had a great time yesterday at our work team builder! They served us delicious lunch and then we broke into small groups for a cake decorating competition. It was so much fun, I will definitely be back!
This is a nice place to learning and eating. I had the opportunity to take 3 classes with them: ketogenic recipes and gluten free recipes. I loved them all. Most of the class time is demonstrative, but a recipe is prepared in a group, and this is very cool. At the end of each preparation, students can taste. In addition, drinks are included.
Had a wonderful experience here over the weekend. Went for their Valentine's dinner prepared by Chef Sandy Giovanni. The food was delicious and the staff made dinner service run very smoothly. We will be back for more of their events and classes
Date night with wife. We learned to cook an amazing French dinner. What made this experience so great was the teacher. He had decades of chef experience and not only was he an amazing chef, but an accomplished teacher with a skill to share his talents with his students. Looking forward to more classes.
Various classes offered most days in two demonstration kitchens with student kitchen areas and dining tables. Classes offered for all ages, private functions and interests. Prepared foods and kitchen supplies are sold in their store. Street parking and small lot are available.
I read these posts regarding families refused accommodation due to live altering emergencies. We paid $85 each for the course. Drove 250 miles. The KC Culinary Institute failed to honor their contract. The course was pitched to include an autographed cookbook. What benchmarks should be met to be a culinary institute ?
Had a wonderful lunch at the Culinary Center in Overland Park. The first Tuesday of each month, they serve a great "staff lunch" for the public. Only $12.
They also have a huge selection of cooking classes for young and old.
I was there for a company outing. The front door is a little hard to find because it does not look like a restaurant. Parking is limited. There is parking behind the buildings across the street. The food was very good and the portion size was good as well.
My wife and daughter has been to the Culinary Center before and enjoyed it. Today they were scheduled for a "mother and daughter" class at 10 am, but unfortunately my daughter developed a high fever yesterday. We were hoping it would pass by this morning so they can attend but no. So my wife calls and explained the situation. We were told sorry you need a 5 day notice for a refund, not even credit towards a future class. Whoever spoke to her replied, "You can still go." Ah my daughter has a fever of 103F and you want me to go to a mother and daughter cooking class without my daughter. Wow! We are not asking for a refund, but at least credit towards a future class.
Found out three days before class it was not a cooking class but just a demo, so basically a youtube video with a long drive. Called and tried to not get refund but just switch to an actual cooking class. Was told it says demo in description. Check carefully people, it was the last two words before the legal jargon starts. The rest of the description makes no reference to it just being a demo. This was to be our first class, we had talked about taking one a month. Not now. Never going back, there are other cooking schools. They got my $130 but lost two long term customers to be in the process.
First time and it was AMAZING! Jill, the head chef, and Yvette worked well together to provide an exquisite experience. Definitely not rehearsed and made you feel like you were having the class in your own kitchen, minus the extensive amount of professional cookware, lol. I would suggest this to anyone and everyone.
I've taken multiple classes here before and after the Covid outbreak. They are doing a great job with adjusting to the moving target of rules. I do miss the Tues luncheons, maybe someday when a vaccine is available. I also have bought the chef prepared meals as gifts for my friends who must stay at home due to health issues.
The KC Culinary Center never disappoints. All the recipes are delicious and the chefs and staff are all extremely friendly. The kitchens are cozy and equipped for fun, hands on cooking.
Just prior to the Covid shutdown, I attended a cookie decorating class, to learn how to use icing for decorating. The instructor informed us that she didn't use the correct consistency of icing for our bags. Was it corrected? Nope. We had to try to learn about flooding with a thick consistency frosting that could barely squeeze from the bag. A waste of money to learn with the wrong tools.
Fun, interesting, informational classes. Always a good time with interesting teachers and welcoming staff. Always come home from classes with great recipes that we make again and again.
My girlfriend and I made reservations at Culinary Kitchen for a fun date night BEFORE the diagnosis. By the time it rolled around, we were still dealing with some of the aftermath of the disease.
We told Culinary Kitchen we would not be able to attend the night of the reservation. Despite hearing our personal story, they would NOT let us move our reservation. I was NOT asking for a refund only if we could come another night.
I thought it would be a simple request. The woman I spoke to, Marty, said they do not make any exceptions and in the past she has rejected people wanting to reschedule for FUNERALS.
I told them how much it would mean to us to have a special date night there after a long and stressful time in our lives and they still wouldn t help us. After the last month, losing this $200 gift certificate was salt in the wound.
There is a right and wrong in this situation.
Ask yourself: is this a business you want to support?
Still hoping they will make the situation right. I'll update when/if we hear back.
Took the pro series 1 class and absolutely recommend it to any and everyone that is seriously interested in learning more about cooking. It far exceeded my expectations and was worth every single penny of the cost. Not only did I learn a tremendous amount about technique and terminology, but made me fearless of attempting new things in my own kitchen. Absolutely the best thing I have purchased for myself in many many years. Will be signing up for pro series 2 as soon as able.
We were given a Cooking Class for Christmas. We have never been to one but always wanted to go. Our class was called "A 'Big Easy' Love Brunch." There was 6 prep tables and 6 eating tables and each table prepared a dish for the buffet. It was a lot of fun preparing the dishes with others and seeing the outcome on the buffet. I would recommend this to anyone.
My daughter gave me a tart class with her for Christmas, two days before the class I went into AFIB, when she tried to reschedule or cancel they refused, and would not work with her. They would only accept a friend filling in for me, which she couldn't find, so beware when you pay, it is that day or nothing, we will not be taking classes there again.
