The Costume Shoppe Review

I think the selection used to be better, but still a good place to go. My last time here the staff seemed very quiet and reserved, not what you would expect from a costume shop. It could have been an off day.

Staff were very helpful!! It was difficult though to not buy one of everything in the store :)

I went there for a star Wars costume and I was not disappointed

Ordered online and had curbside pick up the next day. Every item is final sale with COVID, but since change rooms are open in malls, I'm sure they can adjust their processes!

Fashionable Costumes. Halloween is my favorite holiday, period. When I was a child, my mom would drag me screaming to get a garbage one-piece costume from a generic party store. (He-Man if you want to know).

Now that I'm a grown up, I stumbled upon this gem. Scary costumes, stellar service!

This store has literally everything you need for a costume. There is no need to go anywhere else - and the staff is always professional, and willing to help and provide advise. Highly recommended!!

Open year round, friendly and informative staff, plus a TON of selection. If you can't find what you're looking for here, the staff will point you in the right direction to find it.

Owner was very nice. Greets customers as they come in. Asks if help is needed and then is willing to help instead of it just being a courtesy question.
Costumes there for anyone or occasion.

Great place to get what your looking for you can rent from them as well they have 100s of stuff to pick from

Spent over $250 at the store and almost $70 on official licenced Princess Peach costume which ripped on multiple places within an hour of my daughter wearing it around costume party. Manager would not do anything to help because it was past 5 day exchange policy so we are being punished for their shoddy product and for the fact we bought our daughters costumes early. Will not be returning and very dispponted in the quality of their costumes.

I got what I needed, but had a rather mixed customer service. When I came in it was slow and they were all working and chatting together which is fine, but the lady who helped me made it seem like it was a pain that I was there. The cashier was great though not sure what to make of it.

The service and the quality of the folks who helped me was impeccable! They had the costume and size that I was looking for and also provided suggestions on how to improved my look. Thanks!!

I have lived in Calgary my entire life and I hadn't actually been here for Halloween. Their operation is very well done. They were speedy, great selection, let you try on the costumes, and the staff was very knowledgeable.

Absolutely the best place for costumes and accessories

It's dingy but has tons of options. A lot of their costumes are tried on or returned it seems.

The staff is very friendly and they stock the most current items, as far as I can tell anyway.

This place is really cool! As a cosplayer, there aren't too many places to find costume-esque stuff year round, so finding out this place existed was a relief. There's a whole lot of selection and they have everything from affordable, cheaper stuff to professional, expensive stuff like Ben Nye. Definitely worth a visit if you're into cosplay/costumes.

I got to tell you if you need a costume costume accessory or merely an item to accentuate your wardrobe the costume shop is your place to go they have literally hundreds and hundreds of costumes for rent as well as all of the accessories hats vests etc. The staff are wonderfulAnd can certainly help you put together anything that you need to make your costume a huge hit highly recommended

Always receive tremendous service, along with what seems like an infinite number of products to choose from. As well, they keep the store very organized, unlike many of the pop-up shops around the city. Would definitely recommend!

The best service, amazing costumes, so many choices. My kids LOVED it. Such ease and comfort when searching for my kids costumes. They have easy to browse catalogues by themes, children, adults, pets and more! Once you find a costume which you like a staff member will get it for you, you could try on the costume to make sure it's the right size and voila! They have so many accessories on display as well, which is easy to add onto any costume. This was a terrific experience !

Got what I needed, a Luigi hat, but looked around and found things on the pricey side.

As a fully grown financially independent adult who has dreams of one day becoming a pro cosplayer, the Costume Shoppe is a gold mine. They have everything from wigs, to make up, to contacts, to foam and paint supplies. Its one of my go to stores, and well worth the trip!

This is by far the best costume shop in all of Calgary. No matter how busy they are during the Halloween season--they're still incredibly helpful. But the best part about this costume shop? They treat you like a human being--not just a dollar sign like many of the pop up halloween stores do.

This is THE place for recreational OR theatrical costuming and supplies in Calgary, YEAR-ROUND. If you haven't checked them out, DO!!

Great staff and prices just sizes are off so try it on before you buy...but these guys bend over backwards for you

Somehow EVERYONE at the Costume Shoppe is amazing! In the last few months i have been there 3 times for costume parts and I can barely believe how great the service is. After 3 great experiences I knew they deserved 5 stars. You simply need to tell them what you want and they have great suggestions for you. Highly recommend.

Had a pretty decent time until I went to checkout. Long line with 2 cashiers, 1 of which had someone already and the other guy was staring at everyone drinking a pop. When pop guy finally called me over I was met with attitude the whole time.
After paying, I asked for a bag and was met with but it has a handle ok so? I waked here from the train, I have to walk back to the train to get home and then walk home from the train. I m sorry that the small plastic handle is not enough for me to hold the 40 minutes away.

I appreciate the guy at the door telling you how things worked and where to go, the guy chit chatting about jackets as we waited for the costumes from downstairs, even the overly stressed changing room lady was nice enough and friendly. But bald guy at the cash has soured my experience here.

Talked with super friendly and helpful person on phone from online store, and then another super friendly and helpful man in the store. Great selection, truly amazing, reasonable people, and good prices. Better prices than I thought they would be, especially for such good quality. Definitely check them out! Feel better supporting local business than the various popup stores at Halloween time.

Pretty good selection of stuff. Prices can seem a little high, but I also don't really know the costume market terribly well so I'm sure it's mostly priced fairly.

All I can say is WOW! Amazing service and friendly staff. They do have a huge variety of costumes that everyone can rent like I did and simply buy. The best costume store in Calgary hands down! Definitely coming back! And the best part about it is the parking instructions/humour outside of the location when a driver has to drive around, its hilarious, just a simple comic relief. Fantastic place to visit!

It was a pretty cool place but it reminded me of one of the Halloween shops year round. The items the stocked were nicer and staff was friendlier.

The owner was super helpful! As, it seems, were the employees also (everyone was diligently helping out customers). Great prices, great selection, and great advice!

The staff were so unbelievably friendly and helpful! I went with a three year old and an almost two year old, and in an amazing place like that two toddlers could be a recipe for disaster. The staff were extremely helpful and got me in and out as quickly as possible, and helped me get my kids to try on the costumes, too! All of this with reasonable prices, too! Would highly recommend.

One of my go-to places for costume accessories, the staff are always helpful and knowledgeable. Even if I don't leave with something, I learn something new that helps me in costuming.

Arrived here after 6pm on Oct 30 and they were still open! They had the exact costume we were looking for in the correct size with no combing of racks and racks of costumes. Tables with catalogs displaying their costumes made it easy to browse and select exactly what we wanted. Prices were better or competitive with the pop-up-store and staff were friendly, welcoming and helpful - even on Oct 30!

We will definitely be back!

Over all the experience was good, the staff was super knowledgeable and they were very keen to help me find what I wanted. The owner is employing great people and the selection is fantastic, it's a little pricey but well worth it.

Super fun store with tons of selections, great for halloween, parties or themed weddings. I go here for lots of photo shoot props and the staff are always knowledgable and helpful.
