Beautiful venue. Thoroughly enjoyed the high tea with my friends. Unfortunately, all the baked goods with cream were off, so that was a bit disappointing. Also, there was a wedding at the same time we were there and once the wedding party moved to the dining area by the bar, the service deteriorated quite drastically as all the focus seemed to be on the wedding.
But other than that, I had a great time.

We were sat at the WORST table! It must have been the dirtiest because flies never left the table. The moment the food arrived, EVERY single fly in the City seemed to have received the memo. They were everywhere. We had to use our napkins as swats while the management team just stared. The service was so bad! Management didn't seem to care when we complained.
This is a 5 star boutique hotel nesstled in the Constantia Valley. The estate has lush vegetation with manicured gardens. Their Green House restaurant is one of the top 10 award winners in the country and they do test kitchen menus. They also have the Conservatory Restaurant that serves a la carte and high teas. Guests can enjoy a picnic basket on their sprawling lawns. Service is highly proffesional with attention to detail. Highly recommended.
We had our year end function there. What a breathtaking beautiful place. With a forest to walk through and beautiful setting for photos. The Spa was such as a mazing and very professional. Food was really top class and the view from the restaurant so tranquil.
Beautiful location and well-maintained facilities. The staff are friendly and efficient. Definitely worth considering when looking for a hotel in the area.
What a beautiful, serene place. It had an amazing tranquility about it, a comfort from being long established, that puts a visitor at ease. Staff are impeccable. The garden patio of the Conservatory is an excellent place to spend a lazy morning, and the food is fresh and tasty. I visited again yesterday for the restaurant week special. The offering is quite different to last year, but still good quality, although portions are a lot smaller. Will definitely visit again.
Excellent experience. Staff so nicely trained every where in the hotel, especially restaurant and bar. Our room was quite with direct access into the extensive grounds. Food amazing.
Stunning venue. They treat you the customer first regardless of the circumstance. I would like to say thank you to Lorce M for being such an amazing waitresses.
This house was offered to us as an alternative to another, which turned out to be a major letdown. We were promised that the rooms in the cellar Hohenort would be extra clean and the house was of high quality. Unfortunately, that turned out to be wrong: we paid 460 per room with breakfast (a measly buffet for a 5-star hotel !! egg dishes and bircher muesli for an extra charge The receptionist expressly confirmed that the room had been "double checked" in terms of cleanliness ... Unfortunately, we had to find something else: dust everywhere, windows dirty, on the carpeted floor in the room there were leaves from the garden. towels Not clean. The room door is difficult to close, windows and balcony doors as well, box doors not at all. The whole house is just dirty and does not live up to its 5 stars in any way. Price performance is in no relation!
Fabulous scones but they don't always have space for walk ins! The property and the restaurants are very beautiful if you're in the mood for something shamelessly colonial.
Stunning hotel with a magnificent restaurant overlooking stunning gardens. Take time to stroll around the paths in the garden and lose yourself for a little while.
Went with 2 friends to experience the high tea and booked with Rudy! He was such a patient man after 7 calls, because of having bad luck with my emails and confirming my booking. WE LOVED IT ALL! Quick, friendly waiters. Beautiful decor and gardens! Food was like little pieces of art that tasted amazing! A must experience!
High tea was divine, perfect bite size tastings of everything. We sat outside on the terrace listening to the ducks enjoying a sunny and cool spring day and then explored the gardens, full of blossoms and fantastical magical pathways.
Very beautiful hotel with the most amazing friendly staff! The rooms were big and the bed super comfy. The view from our balcony just went on for ever. Breakfast was delicious and we love to sit and watch the ducks coming for their morning swim in the pond. The garden has trees of over 250 years old.
A really amazing evening. Unique food prepared, served and explained by truly dedicated people An eye opening introduction to exceptional tastes and combinations
Absolutely stunning atmosphere from the beggining to the end. We went for couples massage and steam room which was very good and tgen for scones and tea. Felt like we didnt want to leave. Will be back soon
I collected a voucher from the Fresh Wellness Spa at the Cellar - Hohenhorts and decided to grab some tea at The Conservatory which is one of the restaurants on the hotel property. The hotel is set among the most beautiful gardens and deserves a mention!
I chose to have my tea outside as it was a stunning day. I arrived just before 5pm and ordered something to drink. By the time my iced coffee arrived it was about 5:10pm. I requested scones and was told it was after 5pm and not possible. I responded that I called the hotel earlier enquiring about afternoon tea and was advised that the last order for tea/scones was at 5:30pm. The waiter then happily obliged.
There was a private function, with a relatively big group of (rowdy) people, taking place on the terrace of The Conservatory and I wanted to enjoy a quiet afternoon. At some point I moved indoors to a beautifully decorated, plush, comfortable lounge area with stunning King Protea flower arrangements. The room had double volume ceilings with a neutral but tasteful colour palette. My scones were freshly baked, with a delicious texture and served with strawberry jam, cream and cheese. I requested cheese and this was included without any fuss. The staff were friendly and helpful. I enjoyed my scones and caught up with some reading - a lovely late Saturday afternoon well spent. There is free wifi available.
After my scones I took a walk through the beautiful gardens. I was most enchanted with the little family of ducks that waddle around and hop in and out out of the pond on the lawn area. Lovely photo opportunities!
I will definitely return to The Conservatory for high tea with some company. Based on the tables nearby the high tea offering looks delicious but is perhaps too decadent for 1 person. Tea/ scones/ cake is served from 11am - 5pm. High tea is served from 3pm - 5pm.
Very nice facility, well equipped, large room and bathroom. Attentive and very friendly service. Very good breakfast. Fine restaurant (conservatory) with very good food at reasonable prices.
This was my 3rd visit to this amazing establishment and to date they have exceeded my expectations. The friendliness starts at the security gate, where the gentleman on duty welcomes the guest and wishes them an pleasurable experience. Each and every staff member goes out of their way to make it a memorable experience, even if just for an afternoon coffee and cake. We feasted in a pot of coffee and tea, accompanied by freshly baked warm scones (2) and the most delicious Carrot cake (recommended by our waiter). A walk through the garden is a must.
This is definitely the worst place you could go to, especially if you're thinking of having a function. Food comes so late, bad quality. Terrible service. Heard so much bad stories after my visit. I would not recommend this place to anyone. No matter how desperate you are.
I absolutely loved our stay The Cellars. The scenary is breathtaking and the service is exquisite. The staff went above and beyond for us to ensure our stay was perfect. I highly recommend visiting and I am certainly keen to return.
