Charming place and in a picturesque town called Port Chester that I have always liked since I thought I was close to Purchase NY.
We went for a private concert by Wyclef Jean and yes, there were many people and the theater was a bit small.
I recommend it.

Great venue for a show with a pretty good bar. A block away from the train station so very easy access from Manhattan. Problems are that the coat check, which has a very long line, and security gets more intimate than most TSA agents. I was patted down, had to empty my pockets, and open my chapstick before I could enter.

Great venue but the security was absolutely ridiculous. Once inside (Only thing missing was the machine from the airport where you hold your over your head. I really have had less of a patdown from police and tsa. ) I was constantly asked for my ticket and I was way up in the balcony. Do they really have a problem with people trying to get as far away from the band as possible?

All that being said when not being hassled by overzealous staff the music sounded awesome. Very nice and similar to Count Basie theater in Red Bank or the Van Duzer added Humboldt State. There's not a bad seat in the house. I think the security would have been not as a parent if I had been on the floor. But I happen to have an aisle seat so I was who they kept coming to.

Saw String Cheese Incident here. This place is known for the Grateful Dead & many other fine musicians playing here over the years. There's a bar connected to the theater aptly named "Garcia's"

Lovingly restored venue highlighting some of the best bands in the world! It just keeps getting better. Also, Garcia's (bar, smaller venue) is attached to the Capital and offers up and coming bands all the time! The two venues compliment each other EXTRAORDINARILY well!!

Saw the Pink Talking Phish play and it was an amazing show. Lights, sound was excellent, lines to get in was quick and drinks inside were pretty reasonably priced. Definitely would recommend.

The Capital Theatre is an amazing venue, that knows what they re doing. So many greats have played here, and you can see why. It was a top notch experience from the beginning to the end.

It s just really weird going to a venue that specializes in hippy music that has their security all in tie dyes busting people for smoking pot. It was a complete distraction from the show and very hypocritical. Not to mention that they were super strict about getting to the upper level without a ticket. The floor was way to crowded and there was room in the upper level but they didn t want you up there. That was a first. Most overrated venue going.

The Capitol Theatre is one of the most iconic performing arts venues in America. If you are reading reviews curious if this place is worth spending a night in, I would highly recommend the experience. I can't wait to go there again.

Awesome old venue. Beautiful and picturesque Music Venue located in Manhattan within walking distance to Central Park. This theater was built before modern acoustics were available and it is laid out in such a way as to have incredible audio in almost every position in the seating chart.

Great place to have a HS graduation. The stage was nice, the lighting on point and the security wasn't a hassle. I wasn't such a big fan of the bars, but they were good nonetheless.

Great theatre for all kinds of music for 3000 fans. The acoustics & the audio are perfect. There's not a bad seat in the house. Again, the seats in the balcony need to be replaced. They are extremely uncomfortable, plus the bathrooms also need to be modernized. They look like they are from the 1920' S. The doors to the stalls are so awkward that it is almost impossible to get in or out. Still a good place overall, but Needs Improvements.

We took our son, who is in a power wheelchair, to the Capitol. Very disappointing experience. We were squeezed in between rows which made for a very uncomfortable show. Would not recommend this place if you are wheelchair bound. Our first experience there was great, but this time my son felt like a burden to everyone. I wish I could write a glowing review, but find it impossible.

the place is great and the concert was fantastic - I did lose my glasses the night of the show and called the next day - they found them and were so helpful and shipped them back to me as I live 2 hours away - thank you Jack again for your help - you are awesome!

Love this venue. Great room to hear music, acoustics are one of the best in the country. Love how there are no seats on the floor so you can just hang with as many friends as you like. Just invite everyone, doesn't matter that you don't buy tickets together as long as they are all floor GA. A great party, great bars, very mellow, friendly and courteous staff. Just the best!
