Very Very pretty. Unfortunately they close very early in this season and I couldn t get to see those lights at night

Great place to see in Victoria. Wonderful flowers and incredible grounds. It's a bit of a drive to get here but worth the little excursion. Very family friendly as well.
Butcher Gardens came from a limestone quarry becoming used up. The gorgeous Sunken Gardens were designed and made in the empty quarry. We spent 3 hours there and we could have spent several more hours there. We took a boat ride and saw multitudes of jelly fish.
Beautiful display but don't go to the blue poppy cafeteria unless you want an empty wallet and stomach two mouthfuls of wine two ladles of soup two pieces of pita a child's hotdog meal and a child's spaghetti and a side of fries all like warm and 70 dollars
Such an amazing place to go and see. I have never seen anything like this before
It's a super duper beautiful paradise! Was there in one October when everything was in bright colors... Fall!
Heart & soul brightened with nature! Will definitely go back in one Summer.
If you are in visiting Victoria, this is a must see!! The history and the beauty of the gardens is incredible. For the best time to come (as far as time of year), call or check the website. June was perfect as all the flowers were blooming, the weather was sunny and warm and summer hours had already started. Easy to walk with a stroller/wheel chair and there are places to sit along the way. There are places to eat and a shop for various keepsakes. Bathrooms are located throughout and were very clean. If interested in the history, there are placards throughout, so keep an eye out for them. Also, if wanting to shade yourself from the sun, bring a hat as there are not a lot of covered areas.
Beautiful gardens and a lovely place to have tea. Reservations recommended.
Breathtaking landscapes in this garden. So many beautiful varieties of roses in the Rose Garden. The Sunken Garden repurposed from an old quarry is amazing.
Every time you go, it's like the first time because it's never the same
Came again after 28 years it has changed got the better. Head great time.
amazing place to discover the real gift of nature! The air is so fresh! Flowers are everywhere...i will definitely go back
Even covered in snow and very few flowers you can't help but appreciate the subtle beauty of the Gardens.
Super beautiful gardens! I ve been here 2 times and it s definitely worth visiting!
It is a magical place depicted from a Hallmark movie with you being the main character. The amount of work and attention to detail is amazing. I am left speechless every time I go there. And they also have very nice events. But the collection of flowers and the presentation is just fantastic.
One of my favorite botanical garden I've ever visited. The views and gardens are just stunning. I will definitely be back the next time I visit Victoria.
My little advice is, come also before sunset on one night, it is a very special experience with the fantastic lighting and the special atmosphere, sometimes with free concerts, you will LOVE it.
Open in the summer until 11 pm.
Great gardens however, the food could do with some improvement. The servers were friendly and prompt but (basically), it is a sausage factory turning out airplane meals. They should aspire to do better.
The gardens were lovely and you can tell a lot of time and love has gone into them. If you forget your umbrella, no worries! They have free ones that you can borrow. Make sure you take the brochure map with you when you go as you can miss some parts if you're not careful.
I loved this wonderful garden not only for its landscape but for the sheer variety of flowers and greens . It was just a riot of colors . The impeccably maintained garden is a feast to the eyes
This place is gorgeous and well worth the $35USD per person to enter. To bad my visit was before the roses were in bloom. I would visit again!
Great place to visit all year round - i was in summer and it was just gorgeous. Flowers everywhere and well taken care of. Plenty of photo opportunities. Awesome family-oriented place. It was crowded during our visit but we arrived in the afternoon, so i would recommend going early in the day.
a must do for gardeners, but others will most likely enjoy. Our kids are not really into gardening but they loved coming here. don't expect to spend more than a few hours unless you attend a special event onsite.
Good and well maintained garden ... But you will end up spending minimum 100$ per person ... Steep entry ticket @ 34.76 + traditional afternoon tea @ 42 + boating @ 12 + rose carousel @ 2 + gelato 8.5 + food & liquor @ xyz ... Also the food quality is just average ... and again extra price for work watch
Really very beautiful place to visit. Very well maintained garden and lots of photo points. I find price is reasonable as well. Restrooms were clean too. Didn't go to restaurant there but saw many people were enjoying icecream. Many varieties of flowers. Worth going in here
Always a delight to enjoy the beauty in this place. We absolutely love it here and will return many tines.
Unbelievable flower collection, beautifully done landscape ..steep entry price
Very good place to see different colour flowers and nice nature. If you have interest to see different kind of natural flowers this is the only place to satisfy yourself. Very green, colourfully, neat and wonderful place. You can see The same type of flowers but the originates from different countries. Each end everything planned and well organized. Good parking place with wonderful staffs.
Took my mother and my aunt. It blew their garden loving minds. I would say as a horticulturist the plant diversity this tome of year (September) could have lowered the use of begoniaceae.
Flowers, flowers, flowers. Too many varieties, colors, and arrangements to count. Allow plenty of time to stroll about.
Absolutely stunning! Wear good walking shoes and bring your camera! If possible, I would avoid visiting on a long weekend. That said, it was worth it even though it was busy!
My 1st visit were something like dreaming. Beautiful flowers, woods, leaves that made me feel like staying in paradise lol. Lovely place you must be.
This is a must see. The summer displays are of course lovely and well known. But the Christmas light display is well worth a special trip. By sunset the gardens are totally lit and you can follow the path that leads you through the 12 Days of Christmas. Stop for a ride on the carousel or to listen to the band or carolers. When you get cold find the snack shop or Blue Poppy restaurant to warm up with hot chocolate and a snack. Don't forget to bring your skates to try the outdoor rink.
Excellent, give yourself time to go through the entire park twice to absorb the beauty.
P.S. even the garbage cans are hidden inside flower boxes.
We went in the evening for the Christmas lights and it was incredible! I highly recommend visiting when on Vancouver island!
Beautiful garden. They have a really nice selection of different plants and they present it in a unique way.
Stunning & breathtaking!! Couldn't stop taking photos. I wanna visit during every season!!
Beautiful gardens. An awesome day trip with a great store that sells all sorts of awesome gifts.
A wonder. Only way to describe them. Best time to see is late afternoon and early evening. It's beautiful after dark.
It is a must to go to that place. A huge park area with different kind of flowers and a really nice park area.
The Christmas lights were very nice even in the rain. The theme was the Twelve Days of Christmas. Definitely something worth seeing. Although the entrance fee is a little steep.
Very large and nice. Took us 3 hours to see all of it. Worth the trip if you are in the area.
The gold standard for a public garden. Go early as afternoon crowds lessen the experience. There are two "gift shops" . The big one is full of postcards and tee shirts. The other one has beautiful art work by local artists.
My mom brought me here when I was 18. Returning at 65, I loved seeing the growth that has happened over time. Beautiful place to stroll.
Amazing and a must see! Super clean, well run gardens with loads of helpful, friendly staff (gardeners, parking attendants). Dog friendly (an amazing plus!) as well as people friendly (accessibility for all ages!) Crowded on the weekends, but still worth 2-3 hours time.
Loved our visit to the gardens. We were with a small group and spent about 90 minutes there which was perfect to get through all the gardens at a leisurely pace and have time to buy seeds in the gift shop. We loved talking to an expert there to get recommendations on what to grow in our climate. Though it was early in the season, there were still abundant colors!
Probably the most gorgeous gardens I've ever visited. And I've traveled a lot around the world.
This isn't an ordinary garden. It covers several acres and includes many different unique designs. It is worth the price of admission.
Beautiful place. I'd say a good 2 to 3 hours are needed. Cute and casual eateries inside the garden that was great for lunch. Worth the visit!
What an amazing place to be filled with the most magnificent flowers. The garden is easy to find and getting tickets were a breeze. Plenty of parking (went on a Friday).
Amenities: The park provides clear umbrellas for all to borrow, so no need to bring your own. The facilities are dated but clean.
The Park: It took us about three hours to go through most of the park. Why most? Because we couldn t actually figure out where it was. There are a lot of trails but not as many markers to point the way. So be ready and hand the park map to someone with a good sense of direction.
Overall: It s fun for all, as long as you don t hate flowers. Very instagram-able place. They have afternoon tea in the garden as well so make sure to make a reservation!
Did not tour the inside, but still a fascinating landmark.
We were here for a wedding. Beautiful even before spring has sprung(less people). Looking forward to getting back up when the roses are in bloom.
Beautiful this time of year. Great facilities and a great physical distancing plan.
The admission fee is 36$ which is pricey but the the garden is very beautiful and the flowers smell amazing. Also the gift shop a good collection of flower seeds and gift items.
Absolutely fabulous. Words cannot fully describe the beauty of the flowers and well planned layout.
Beautiful gardens especially the rose garden. We spend a pleasant day walking along the pathways
Beautiful place. Bursts of color around every turn and amazing fountains in hidden alcoves. The grounds are perfectly maintained and plants artfully arranged. There are also about a million people all shuffling down single file paths to see it all, many of them noisy and constantly stopping everyone for a photo. Go and be amazed by the gardens but be aware that you are sharing the experience with a few thousand of your closest friends.
Visit this beautiful garden for its variety of landscapes, recreations of different flowerbeds. You can walk through, sit, observe & meditate too. So many golden hands help the garden bloom happily.
October is not a peak time to visit, yet still lovely. At the entrance is a sign saying NO SELFIE STICKS, yet probably 20% of the visitors had them. Also lots of dogs, which seems contraindicated as they pee and poop everywhere. The young man explained it away, as if this were just like a neighborhood park. My third and probably last visit.
Indeed a true garden paradise on Vancouver Island and yes I managed to enjoy the vast number of flower and plant varietals. It was an incredible experience. My problem were the hoards and hoards of visitors. Couldn t Butchart management develop a time pass or advance ticket process to control the crowds. Further I observed a number of families arguing/yelling at their young children who really didn t want to be there. How about adding a supervised play area so the parents could actually enjoy the gardens. Some suggestions that would really improve the experience.
So beautiful and mind blowing , guarantee if one visits they ll be going an other time . Had an unforgettable time.
Beautiful gardens, friendly staff and the music in the summer and December is excellent. While the single entrance fee is expensive, the annual pass is a steal for what you get if you use it for nightly summer concerts and visit regularly as the flowers change seasons.
This is a must see if you are visiting Vancouver island. The sunken garden was by far my favorite! To think that it used to be a quarry that was converted into pure beauty!
Beautiful as what I imagine heaven might be... Giant Hugs
A beautiful gardens to relax, unwind, with family and friends a lots of beautiful spot, food spot and relaxing Spot.
we have season passes and enjoy visiting here at all times of the year..
Great finale to fireworks season. Still way too expensive for the offering and venue.
The gardens were nice but there were barely any flowers. There's no way they should be charging full price at this time of the year when 90% of the plants and flowers aren't in full bloom.
I honestly wouldn't waste your money by going anytime other then the summer.
These gardens will ruin all other gardens for you haha. But seriously, you won't regret a visit here - it's a paradise!
A lovely place for a stroll through their beautiful gardens. The cafe and the gift shop are wonderful too.
Must see spot in Victoria. Much of it is built from an old limestone quarry and is just breathtaking. Various styles of gardens. We went in early March, so much of it wasn't in bloom, but it was still worth the trip. We did high tea and it was a fabulous experience - I would highly recommend (it was around $40/pp). We took a cab from downtown Victoria to Butchart as we didn't have a car with us. It took about 30 minutes, and cost around $50.
Amazing flower garden - one of the most beautiful in the World
A must see in Vancouver Island. There's bus at Swartz Bay terminal directly take you there. Recommending season is summer Saturday nights where there's concert and fireworks. It's worthwhile to have a yearly pass, because different season has different flowers, even in winter you can see lots of beautiful Christmas lights.
, , !
A wonderful place for a spectacular flowering, you can not express beauty in words, a must visit here!
Lovely as always! Fireworks were amazing, staff are friendly and helpful.
Amazing garden and scenery. Avoid the tour buses if possible. It gets crowded when they all show up. (sorry I was in one of them)
Loved it, ur probably gonna fill up all your phone storage
Visited late November 2017. Open from 9 am to 4:30 pm. Christmas lights are being put up. The theme was 12 days of Christmas. Be mindful of the decorations and the lyrics of the song. No more flowers. The roses were pruned. I bet it's pretty during the summer time. Tight walkways in the Japanese garden but still pretty. Good food. I had the chili dog for $10.50 cad. I'm visiting from Seattle. Canadian food and beer are great but pricey. The road to Buchart from Victoria is a two way country road. The Sunken garden and Japanese garden are still pretty in the fall.
Awesome place.
Beautiful
Just missed all the roses and some seasonal flowers .
Stunning place to go. Surely one of best gardens in the world.
Beautiful garden, too many people taking pictures.
Beautiful not as big as you would think from the map.
Yup, everything you have heard about Butchart Gardens is true. Beautiful, unique, fine, fine attention to detail. Incredible.
One of the most lovely gardens I have ever experienced. A must see on any trip to Vancouver Island and Victoria. Numerous assorted gardens situated throughout this former quarry offer a visual and sensory delight. Restaurant features High Tea and local Westcoast cuisine.
