Great food and service. I really enjoyed my fish dinner. The person I ate with did have an issue with how her meal was prepared (I think it was due to a miscommunication when ordering). However, management decided to deduct that item from the bill! Wasn t really expecting that. I think we were both surprised that we didn t show our gratitude for the wonderful customer service. Thank you!

I will definitely eat at Bull s Head Tavern the next time I visit Grand Rapids.

Eaten here once at a special occasion dinner. The food was wonderful the service was good. I could imagine it would get noisy at times. Great selection of craft ciders. Very convenient for people who are staying downtown.

My boyfriend and I really liked their restaurant week menu so we decided to come again and got the crab cakes to start. $9 for 2 crab cakes served on a bed of brown lettuce. If it's brown just leave it off the plate.

Love Bulls Head. Great location for a good dinner at a great price for downtown food. The bar ambiance is perfect late at night for a quieter affair. Would highly recommend getting some dinner and drinks for a night on the town.

We stopped in on a whim, and boy are we glad we did! The atmosphere was casual but the dining is fine, the perfect fit for us. Alex, our server, was great with offering suggestions and totally on the ball with service. We ordered the Chicken breast and pork chops- both GORGEOUS! Topped it off with the homemade chocolate lava cake. Best decision ever!

I ordered the blackened salmon and it was just plain baked salmon, no flavor. It was good baked, but definitely not blackened by any stretch of the imagination. My waiter took my drink before I was done with it and he never inquired about my food. I was disappointed for sure.

I went in with my fiance and we had the Gyro plate with their signature tzatziki sauce and it was delicious. She had their tenders, and let me tell you. Their customer service is outstanding, we asked for a dipping sauce that they didn't have available, thank god for down time, the chef went out of his way to make sure we had what we asked for. Wow. Truly recommend this place

It's got a cool "hipster" feel without making the non-hipster, non-skinny jean wearing, full sentence speaking adults feel out of place. We've had the steak, lamb, and duck on different occasions. It's always been good. Worth the stop for drinks, dinner, or appetizers (dynamite shrimp was awesome!!)

The atmosphere is lovely. Darkened dining in an upper room. I loved the look and feel of the place, However the food left something to be desired and in my opinion, was extremely overpriced. Drinks were overpriced as well and our waitress was kind of in her own world. We had a large party and she didn't seem to give us her utmost attention.

Good food but EXTREMELY slow! Took over an hour from the time we ordered until we got our food. For being located directly across the street from a large convention center (which has no food court), you would think they would be much better prepared.

Went out here with a group of friends and we were all treated very well. Each meal that came out looked better than the last, but even the first one tasted amazing. Well done by both the cooks and the wait staff!

Went here for lunch today with my husband, daughter, and son-in-law. First time I've been there but my daughter and her husband have gone frequently.

The restaurant wasn't too crowded when we arrived about 1. Service was quick and friendly. I liked their lunch menu. Good prices and a nice selection. I had the house salad (full size) with salmon. OMG, salmon was prepared perfectly and tasted so good. My husband had the sirloin and said it was cooked just right. My daughter had the perch and they didn't skimp on the portion. She had enough to bring some home. My son-in-law had the Greek salad and said it tasted great.

Drinks were refilled frequently and we were checked on a few times without it being annoying.

I liked the cozy atmosphere, all the interesting light fixtures, the tiles, and the wood that accented the bar.

My only complaint was that the bathroom needed a thorough cleaning. The light fixtures there were dust covered and the trash was very full, as well as the stainless being covered in fingerprints and the mirrors very spotty.

Other than that I enjoyed our visit and I would definitely eat here again.

The world is a complicated place. Sometimes, the t...

The world is a complicated place. Sometimes, the taste of a sweet onion ring provides a safe harbor in the midst of storms. It is my quest to find these harbors, and pass on the crucial knowledge to others. There are always storms, and always opportunities to find more onion rings. Recently, I went out to lunch with some coworkers. As luck would have it, they had onion rings! Two birds, one stone.

Presentation and Appearance: 3.5/5

The onion rings have a classic pub style appearance. A bit irregular on the breading, the shape bulges and twists. This is not, however, unappealing. It works, in its own way. I will say that most of the breading was a bit dark, indicative of some overcooking. One onion ring, buried beneath the heap, was lighter in complexion, and not overdone.

The presentation is nothing special. The onion rings were twisted together in a heaping mass, almost inextricably tied together. The plate was a bit small, and crowded (with my gyro and pickle jockeying for space as well). Beyond that, I had no serious complaints.

Taste: 3/5

The taste of these onion rings was fairly complex (for an onion ring). The breading had a surprising depth and flavor. Clearly well seasoned, thought out, and well prepared, it was the highlight of the taste. The onion interior only had a mild taste, though it was present. I would have liked a more prominent onion flavor.

Overall, the taste only had two serious flaws. The first was the weakness of many pub-style onion rings; an overwhelming, overpowering, and a somewhat disturbing permeation of grease. To a certain extent, this is unavoidable on an onion ring, even good ones. However, it was just a bit too the excess for my liking. In addition, the breading, while flavorful, was clearly and blatantly overcooked. Though this had more dramatic ramifications for texture, the taste suffered as a result.

Texture: 2.5/5

At first bite, the texture is fine, even good! With a delightful crunch, and no slippage of the onion, it seems fine. Indeed, they tend to maintain their shape with ease.

Of course, all of these factors are explained by one horrible cause; the onion rings were dreadfully overcooked. It makes sense that an overdone onion ring would be crunchy, and shrivel up on itself to prevent any slippage of the onion. Of course the shape would be maintained.

In truth, the overcooked nature of these onion rings completely ruins all the positive attributes of texture. Crunch, no slippage, and shape maintenance are only good if they're derived from a proper frying, not from excessive time in the fryer.

Value: 3.5/5

These onion rings were not particularly expensive, but they were low in quantity, and overcooked. All in all, they're a worthy side dish, but certainly not worth getting on their own.

Total: 12.5/20

We walked into Bull's head last night (Saturday), and let the hostess know that we were just grabbing a drink at the bar. She promptly said, "Okay, I guess, if you can find a seat up there. It's really busy." What an unwelcoming way to sway me into your restaurant to do business. And it also just wasn't THAT busy.

My husband and I looked at each other and said that we'd just go somewhere else. She then fired back, "Just so you know, everywhere is going to be just this busy..." I looked at her and told her I wasn't worried about it. Let's be real; It's Grand Rapids. Not New York City.

Bull's Head, if you want returning patrons, you might encourage your hostesses to be a little more persuasive to stay when customers come through the door, instead of indirectly telling them to leave.

We accidentally wandered in here confusing it for a nearby Irish pub. Glad we did!

After explaining to our waitress our confusion for not seeing Guinness and fin-and-chips on the menu, she made some awesome food and drink suggestions and provided great service.

The food was great and the restaurant had many interesting things to catch your eye.

Great food, walking distance from devoss music center. Staff could have been a little friendlier. I felt like we were inconveniencing our waitress by being there. Decent prices on food and drinks. I recommend sitting upstairs. Very cool.

I walked in and before finding a seat I saw there was a argument going with some staff. I watched and saw three staff members arguing with a customer over his bill and a long wait for food. After seeing the attitude of the staff I decided not to eat here. A guest may very well be wrong, but I think it would be more professional to have one manger talk with them than to have three staffers arguing with a customer in a restaurant.

Went for a work lunch. We were from out of town and thought it looked good. Poor service, stale chips. The chicken salad sandwich had very little salad. The burger was not fresh but frozen and the Greek salad lettuce was super wilted and inedible. The squash soup was good as well the the gyro and the fried chicken salad with bacon. Too many places to choose from to have to eat here again.
