We went to the Bridgewater as a random choice as it happens to be very close to our home. Clearly picking the right time of day is essential as to what kind of service you are likely to get. For us, it was Saturday around 3pm. The place itself was pretty quiet and this probably contributed to the better service that some people complain about. For our part it was good, if not exactly super attentive. The food itself was actually very good and there's no complaints there and there's no complaining about the value... for what we got, it was pretty surprising.

Nice pub, just difficult to watch footy on the strange set up of screens. And rarely any sound on the football. Actually have subtitles for football. I'm not just a united fan, l like other games too. Decentish beer garden. With parking, you have to pay a pound but you get it back with a drink. Good food and staff. Pool table. Clean toilets. Expensive drinks.

Avoid this place. Poor service from the bar and the worst pub food I have ever encountered. A friend and I ended up here last Sat due to card transactions being down at John Gilbert. I ordered a burger with no bun and a plate of salad to More

Went here with 3 friends for a get together found the bar prices very high. Ordered food but had to chase the order but was offered drinks for keeping us waiting. The ham and cheese toasty when it came had barely seen a toaster but after waiting so long ate it. Overall poor quality and poor value

Another great place to pop in for a drink with friends , amothsphere is good cant say it more than that as I haven't been there on weekend.
Friendly staff but I think that they dont get a sit down break on the shifts as few of the employees were eating behind the bar and seconds later serving a guest with the mouth still full. I guess it is cool with locals .
Location is great as it's just opposite the canal ... where you can head out and enjoy during summer.

Whether it was because of the date, 1st Jan, or it's just the way it's run, it was all a bit amateurish. Don't get me wrong it's a nice pub and ok pub food, but that's about all it is. If it wanted to step up another notch, then more attention needs to placed on a possible 're fit, and greater focus on serving food of a better quality.
Having said all that, the staff did really well, considering the fact there was no where near enough on duty.

Much smarter after recent refurbishment but it is still aimed at cheap family budget food thus attracting all the single parent pram pushers from Winton and Little Hulton.
Disappointing lack of quality. Steak was really tough.
Good selection of cask beers but need to up the game in the food department to drive riffraff out.

Food ok but beer garden at back really run down and dirty. Cigarette dimps all over floor, broken benches, dirty glasses left out and on floor from night before. Outside area clearly not looked after. Much nicer places to eat and drink in the area.
