I had serious trouble with their customer service, and lack of communication when. Things did not fit. Just shy of an entire month trying to get new sizes I gave up and sent everything back and went with a different company. Appalachian Gear Co also had the higher prices and lower quality. I do not recommend this company

I had dealt with this company several times, first in person at the Appalachian Trail Days event, then over Instagram, and finally over email. They have always been very helpful and easy to communicate with. The team has always taken care of me, responded to questions, and given me helpful recommendations. On one order, I had accidentally added two of their knit gaiters to my cart and didn't notice with the discount they had going. I sent an email and they were able to correct the order and charge amount before shipping the item out just in time for Christmas, even though I'd ordered less than five days in advance. I have been very pleased with my all of products, especially my hoodie, hat, and gaiters. The alpaca fleece offers phenomenal technical performance in the cold and the rain; and even though the durability isn't as great as synthetic pieces, I think not contributing more microplastics to the environment with these products is more important saving a few bucks.

This company is a scam. They marked my order as "shipped" but have not actually shipped it. It has been a couple of weeks now and no one will respond to my emails. At this point I have no other choice but to work with my credit card company on a charge back. This is a bummer as I was hoping to support a small business. Stay away!

First met these guys @ Trail Days in Damascus and later in Elkin at the inaugural NC Trail Days event there. Nothing but the highest quality and great experience. As far as price points - you will pay similar for wool products from an IceBreaker, Minus33 etc. although the product itself differs as this is more like a sweater than a 'base-layer'. Love it !

Alpaca wool is seriously the highest quality you can get. I ice climb, backcountry ski, and mountaineer. Staying warm, dry, and fresh is a matter of life or death. The fleece gaiter has seriously saved my face while adventuring in British Columbia.

Appalachian Gear Co. makes exceptionally high quality gear designed for serious adventure, but I love wearing their gear everywhere, not just on the mountain. If you re ever blessed enough to try on one of their hoodies you ll know what I mean. I can t wait for them to expand their product line (praying for a pink wool onesie).

I just returned from a backpacking trip to the Eagle Cap Wilderness in Oregon. My All-Paca shirt, All-Paca hoodie, a fleece beanie with an outer shell kept me warm on my trek to the cold & windy summit of Eagle Cap Peak. I wore my All-Paca shirt for four days in a row. Slept in it too. Comfortable and warm.
