This place is a low-key place for a sneaky get away. Now because it's chi town the prices are real deal hold and steal on the room rate. But hey you could be downtown at the Drake. Paying the Drake and Drake the rapper feeee

If you value your life or vehicle do not stay here! I've been staying here for years due to convenience. However, staying at the Amber Inn last night will be my last stay. Pearls place is a wonderful establishment with amazing food & customer service. My car was completely side swiped and i didn't get any sleep due to the ongoing party in the parking lot. When i woke up to find my car damaged i was instructed to call the police and no manager was on site to handle my discrepancy. And conveniently enough there cameras don't work and apparently neither does security. So it cost $70 to stay $40 to eat at pearls and $500 to fix my car. Worst experience EVER! This is a place of crime & the owner obviously tends to the criminals. Sad!!!

It was really very very very poor because I didn t stayed here and they still charged my card and they will never say u exactly what s going on with your reservation because they also don t know. Poor communication with receptionist.

The rooms I've booked were clean on my visits, it's 4 blocks south of Sox pk green line is 2 blocks south of here. An ample parking lot a great soul food restaurant Pearls located on the premises a decent rib/burger joint across the street and a Rothchilds liquor store on the corner. There is a 20 dollar returnable fee for smoking on my last visit though. There are cheaper alternatives if one has flexibility.

Man, I will not deny that the area is a bit of a bad feeling (as I see many American movies), but nothing to do with reality, we spent several hours in the area and no problem.

The hotel offers the right thing at a normal price, and there are good places to have breakfast in the area. Then the subway stops right next to it, so even being on the outskirts, it is well connected.

The price is right. The hotel is dated, reminds me of a rendezvous hotel, but the location makes up for the hotel shortcomings. The rooms were clean and served their purpose. Who spends a whole day in a hotel room when you re in Chicago anyway! Pearl s Soul Food and Southern Restaurant is on the exterior first floor of the hotel. The collard greens, chicken wings, baked macaroni & cheese are to die for. There s a rib restaurant with lip smacking food across the street. We also ate an unforgettable breakfast at a classy Italian breakfast restaurant a block away. They served fish, hash browns and eggs and bottomless coffee. The portions were generous. Crosstown bus stops are on the corner and connecting stops are only a couple of streets away. The location was safe. I d stay here again.

This Hotel was the worst place I have ever stayed in my entire life!! I will have pix for you to look at.. Also we had to pay for 2 nights over the phn b4 we got there for us to only stay 1 night because of all the stuff that was wrong with the room Not to mention how unsafe our door was on our room.. The Management still has NOT gotten back with me yet!!

Food @Pearl's Place is pretty good. They're connected to the motel. But the location sucks! The day I arrived, police knocked on my door accusing me of hiding the suspect to a robbery. Meanwhile I was alone. Projects close by..not safe

They always have rooms available for $79 night. It's a place to consider if you need a low cost place to stay and can't find anything late night that is super expensive. It's in Bronzeville at 39th and Michigan. It's safe and quiet

It s not my choice for a hotel stay but it s worth the stay. A quick way to house out of town guess with good accommodations. Parking and A/C is plus. Pearl s Place is right downstairs to good southern hospitality.

Beautiful gesture, and heartwarming story in the Ellen show. While other hotels turned away from helping individuals in the -50 degrees weather, you decided to say yes... This speaks wonderfully of this place and their big heart. We should definitely support places like this. This world needs more people like you. Thank you for your generous heart. Blessings always!

We just stayed at this hotel over the weekend. We were there for a national convention that is held in Chicago. Over all the stay was okay, I would not recommend it to anyone, unless the establishment did a complete upgrade to the facility. The rooms are old, and very dirty, no ironing board, no hangers and no mirror in the bathroom. Did not have the room cleaned while there, not sure if it was because I requested one day not to be cleaned. People that was with us experienced bed bug issue in their room. It is sad that the owners can own such a great hotel like South Loop and make it great, but show very little regard for this hotel. Probably will not stay here again in the future. They definitely need to work on this location.

They have nice clean rooms. The location is about 8mins from downtown Chicago and 4 minutes from White Sox park 2mintues from the 94 Expressway. The staff were very professional and accommodating. Most places allow you to check in at 4:00pm or the earliest check in by 12:00noon if the room is ready. I was allowed to check in at 8:00am for a special quest to have their room when they arrived from out of town. There is a banquet hall and soul food restaurant connected to this hotel along with a barbeque restaurant across the street.
Public Transportation is right outside the hotel. The hotel is two blocks east of State Street allowing you to take the 29 State Street bus to downtown Navy Pier.

It is nice place when u staying a couple of hours. I would not recommend more then 1 night here. The televisions are not update. The bedding is not updated. The spread had cigarette burns in it. The heating system was not working properly. The curtains are very old and will not stay closed for privacy. We had to use a safety pin to keep the curtains closed. They say they are family orientated. There is no pool for the kids. This is a place only for emergencies...

This hotel need to be upgraded in view of the area thats undergoing a revitalization ! The building needs to be repainted, the rooms need to be updated with better amenities, like sheets, towels, irons, hair dryers!! The location is ideal , being a few minutes from dowtown. Hopefully one these changes will take place, making Amber Inn a great place to stay!!
