I stayed here for a 6 nights October 25th - October 30th 2019 as I was in Chicago for the International Association of Chiefs of Police Conference (IACP) 2019 as a representative from Nigeria. I bought some items from amazon and delivered to this Inn; It was a problem getting my purchased items from the reception even when they were signed for! I checked out and left for Nigeria today losing a pair of wrangler jeans and a phone screen protector both worth $38 even though they were received by a staff of the hotel but were never handed to me. Unfortunately, USPS doesn't have a record of the name of the recipient...Thank you Amber Inn for ruining my stay!

Helping the homeless during the polar vortex when other hotels/motels wouldn't. Just amazing.

It's a place to sleep if you need a place for the night but I wouldn't ever stay here again.. there was hair all over the shower and on the floor in the bathroom which is disgusting, the air conditioning absolutely sucks which is inconvenient for the summer, the shower curtain is way too short so after taking a shower there's a ton of water on the floor and the rooms are very small. I even heard another person say their TV doesn't work. Not happy.

Don't trust all the reviews you see here, I found that the Inn was a lot better than what I expected. Yes the carpet should be trashed and burned, but I had a very spacious room for a moderate price. I must admit that there was a paint mark on my bathroom towel...

An outstanding hotel offered services. The dining area was spacious. The lounge bar serves good mixed drinks as well. I am very happy that I was able to visit this place. I couldn't ask for more! I would definitely recommend and refer your services to everyone without any hesitation. Thank you so much to all of you!

Thet need to updated the whole hotel but the staff was friendly and professional black owed

They rate theor hotel at 2 stars the room was much better than a 2 star that had a bathtub with. Jets very nice!

This is an ok place to stay. Definitely old carpet and furnishings. Cheap place and it lives up to it's 2 star rating. I had no problems and I would stay there again.

Close to downtown the rates and service was great plus they have security

For being the only place to accommodate homeless individuals during the polar vortex in Chicago, kind-hearted individuals for sure.

Good things: 1 star because it is close to the train station and near a park if you like to exercise, if you walk for about 20min you get to the beach.
2 Star for the ease of check-in and accept cash without registration. Cards
Bad things: it is not a place for tourists or good if you are not afraid of gangs, it smells like cigarettes, at night you are afraid to hear screams, the toilet was loose, the shower went hot when you moved to the cold ,

I was pleasantly surprised. I'd recommend the Amber Inn. Being from Detroit I'm used to violence and chaos. What makes the difference is the fact that the nearby projects have been torn down. I went to Chicago for their Taste of Chicago since Detroit can no longer afford a taste festival. The lady at the front desk told me that since the projects were gone the neighborhood has calmed down. After an extensive search for a cheap room I found the Amber Inn. There were no incidents. The linen was clean and fresh. The bathroom was clean. The room had working a/c. The lamps and TV worked just fine and the door locks worked. I went and got ice a few times at night without a problem. Stayed two nights. The front desk clerks were polite. The day clerk told me that they were trying to make the Amber Inn a family motel. They've done a good job. I left valuables in my room while I went downtown and they were still there when I returned. As for the hood I did observe a few men panhandling and a hooker but that's mild compared how bad a neighborhood can become. No gangs, no gunfire. The first night I stepped out at about 3 a.m to get some air, nothing happened, saw only empty streets. The second night the parking lot filled up out of town visitors so people obviously know about this place. The first night was a Thursday and cost me 59 bucks. The second night, Friday, cost me 69 dollars and was worth it. There is a bus stop down by the liquor store and the L train is in sight (about two blocks) so if you need a decent room while in Chicago check out the Amber Inn. I plan on staying there again.

The service was great, rooms were very clean. Close to transportation and the staff was very friendly, and helpful.

Very clean, safe and inexpensive rooms and close to downtown. The parking is surrounded by the motel and feels/is very safe. I would recommend this place to anyone who wants to be close to downtown. PS neighborhood is older and very safe.

I just saw Ellen on social media and your beautiful story of kindness with the homeless people during the bad weather conditions of some days ago. I think you should be so proud of yourselves! I give you a 5 star rate from the bottom of my heart.
Ps. I'm writing from Italy and I swear that, when I come to Chicago, I'll be for sure staying at your hotel.

Ok location but for the price you would've thought the rooms would become a little nicer

I have been here a couple of times and I can say they are consistent with their friendly service and competitive rates.They only need to improve in cleanliness

Awesome. Not totally a hooker hotel but close to it.

Great stay. I stayed an extra two days after my vacation.

The hotel staff is very unprofessional and the hotel is not clean.

Rude front desk person. Came here in jan this year. Heater barely worked. Other than that, all is ok. Would not come back for the fact that worker was very rude.

Price is good because of the location to downtown; it should be the cheapest motel/hotels from downtown overpriced ones.
It does not have all the amenities of a 5 star hotel, which you might never use, despite be charged, there are at least no bedbugs_ something I fear the most from cheap motels.
It has free parking in the courtyard, close to Marianos, and Michigan ave buses. Overnight parking downtown $57.. It has security cameras too.
So if you want to save money, I guess it's a good deal to stay here.Thanks for reading.

It was bad. The beds were not washed, the air condition was not lasting long, there was no shampo, and the lamps and the wall plug was so unclean.

Decent location. Workers were very friendly and helpful. Rooms are kind of dated but perfectly fine. Perfect place to stay for someone just passing through

great stay, bbq and liquor store, across the street, close to the expressway, gas station and more.

I stayed here in 2008 for a concert that was close to this side of town. I had no complaints as they aren't claiming to be a 5 star hotel. Clean and quiet when I was there and will go back

Place is kind of shabby shower curtain dirty. Chulk around tub tacky. Not everything in rooms works.

Most Getto place to stay at your car is in constant danger never stay there

I had worst experience staying at this hotel. I reached Chicago late night and wanted to rest few hours. I booked hotel online, however, they didn't even accept my online booking confirmation and wanted me to pay again at the hotel. They had no working internet. Beds were not comfortable. Rooms door wouldn't lock properly and neither the location/neighborhood was very good. I had a nightmare staying here. I don't recommend this hotel at all if you have other options.

The room was comfortable and clean. The hallways smell like smoke though.the phone never worked the entire time we were there.

The location is great, parking is great, but the price is too high for the quality of the room. Got an "Upgraded room" and it was not the best. Although I didn't see any bugs, the floor was the type of floor you'd keep your shoes on at all times.

Found out about you on the Ellen show. You get top stars for that!

This hotel is very sophisticated and the customer service there in is very great.

I am so happy you took in the homeless, when no body else would accept them, what your motel did was way above the call of duty, I will talking to all my customers about this for the next couple of weeks.

Expensive.... Not worth staying there. Ran down. Disgusting..... Hope I didn't pick up any bedbugs. Just horrible. This 1 rating is or should be a minus 10

no toothpaste provided. didnt come clean room after 1st night stay. fridge did not get cold. mattress was uncomfortable. shampoo was so cheap it didnt lather.

I was glad my uncle told me about the Amber lnn., The rates were reasonable the bed was comfortable and the Inn was close to awesome restaurants.

Staff was nice, rooms were as expected for a 2 star hotel.

I feel the prices are a bit steep with no remodeling having been done in over 6 - 10 years.... But i enjoy my stay when i decide too.

Not good unprofessional roach ,carpet not clean. Not vaccuum

OMG how do I start? Just horrible, dirty, dangerous. You really need to take better care of the place, at least please clean it. My room was so dirty, there was so much dirt under the bed, tables.. please clean it. I added a star just because you have a great heart. But it doesnt matter how old or humble is a place, if its clean and welcoming.... its just perfect.

Providing a space for the homeless regardless of how it might have 'looked'. Bravo
