They treat you very nice and they care if you buy a bike from them. They are very helpful.

This is the place where I got my first mtb. The staff here were really friendly and without them I wouldn't have the great experiences I've had. I broke my bike multiple times and the staff got me riding back to riding within the week. I will continue to visit this shop for a very long time.

This is a real bicycle shop. All of the employees are legitimate bike riders and enthusiasts. I have purchased 7 bikes over the last 4 years and these guys stand behind everything that goes out the door. Its refreshing to find a LOCAL shop with the knowledge and technical expertise to handle anything from a kids first bike all the way up to a crazy enthusiast like me and my crazy requests.

Bottom line: top notch service, dedication to the craft, and usually a free espresso while you wait.

Terrible service. The employee there seems me bringing in a bike into the tent are, goes back inside and comes out. Rather than acknowledging a potential new customer, proceeds to chat with his buddy while sharing pics on his phone. Finally got his attention for help and really does absolutely nothing to help out. During these hard times where small businesses are struggling, this employee or whoever works there does the least amount to gain new business.

A fantastic bike shop in North East NJ. The staff were incredibly helpful and knowledgeable. They took the time to discuss the bikes I had in mind and demoing proved very useful in making my decision. The shop had demos from a host of fancy bike manufactures, with proper specs, and a variety of sizes. Highly recommended!!

Spent a lot of time searching for a bike within my price range, after visiting many shops in the local NYC area to where I live and basically either being completely ignored by everyone or tried to be sold something that was out of my budget I decided to expand my search.
I found these guys by doing a search of authorized sellers and they didn t disappoint. Immediately I was greeted and had all my questions answered and despite wanting to buy a model that was past years, they were able to still order it to the shop and get it assembled for me. All of this while never telling me I needed to upgrade to something out of my price range or skill level. Really appreciate their help and can say it was well with the 2 hour round trip to get it. If you re looking for a company that values your business this is it. Thanks guys.

Have used Tenafly Bicycle for over a year now and they are quickly becoming my favorite neighborhood shop. They are extremely helpful, very professional and knowledgeable - without being unpleasantly "salesy". Example: I bought a $3 battery for my bike mini-computer. The guy not only put the battery in, but correctly reset my whole computer. You never have to wait for a long time to be helped - which is a typical problem in many bike stores. And - similar to another favorite store of mine (Campmor) - the guys who work here are true enthusiasts, which matters and helps a lot.

I purchased a bike here (actually, over the phone, which was great-- I knew exactly which one I wanted and Tennafly Bicycle Workshop was flexible about letting me do this) as a gift.
The staff was aware that I needed the bike about a week and a half after purchasing it. Unfortunately due to a circumstance out of the control of TBW someone scooped up the last of the model which I wanted just as it was about to be sent to the shop. Result: seemed like there would be no bike by the deadline. Sensing that this would be a massive bummer, TBW tracked down the bike at another location (actually an upgrade, which they gave me for free), drove two hours to get it, and had it ready for me by the day they promised. I was very impressed with how they handled the situation, and will definitely be returning although the shop is 45 minutes from where I live. Every bike shop can order your bike and have it delivered, but not every bike shop would send an employee two hours to pick it up if it were out of stock... Thanks guys and gals who work there.

Definitely the best bike shop around! Staff is very knowledge and passionate about their job. They help find the best bike for you and can easily answer any question you may have. Went here in desperation. All the other local bike shops kept giving me one price and then it was much higher when the part came in. Not this place. The price was actually less! Knowledgeable and friendly staff, great service on my sons bike. Reminded me of the bike shop I used to go to when I was building mine years ago. I felt confident the work was done right and tested by the staff. I will be going here for all my bike needs in the future. Very satisfied with the service! Hell, I was actually a little impressed. Keep up the great work!

Literally the easiest process ever.

I went to fix my bike tires because my tires popped. The process of dropping it off and paying literally took less than 10 minutes. They would give you a text once the bike is fixed, and you go pick it up. Done. I love this bike shop, it has everything you need, and the staff is amazing. The staff were so kind and helpful. Definitely a 5 star and will go again if something ever happens to my bike!

I drove from LI to see an Ibis bicycle and it was well worth the trip. Kevin was extremely helpful and extremely low pressure. He recommended to return to demo the bike to help me figure out my wants and needs. I took his advice and attended the NJ Mountain Bike Festival where they had a tent. I rode bikes all day and asked a ton of questions. Not once did he, the other staff, nor the owner Shepard lose patience. I emailed back and forth with both of them and again no pressure for a sale. All I received was advice about what would suit my needs, riding stylrand terrain best. I took their advice and purchased a Mojo 3. I could not be happier! It truly meets all my needs and checks all the boxes. It was also set up dialed and ready to go. Great experience, great bike, great shop!

The second time I stop by this place. Very friendly staff, great inventory. Is a perfect place for all your bicycle needs. They definitely have a new costumer.

I am thrilled with my new bike. It was a little hard to decide to buy it, without test driving it but given the circumstances I went with it. They were awesome, these guys really know what they are doing. It was amazing how with just by a phone conversation and seeing me from far away, they knew exactly what bicycle to recommend and how to set it up perfectly. I love my bike, it rides great. I will recommend them 100%, I also know their service department do a great work, my husband used them for many years when he used to ride frequently. You won't great it.

I've been a customer at TBW since 1996 through four different owners. Rich Sutter and Dov Torenberg have done a great job with the shop. They equal or surpass the level of service of any of their predecessors. It's always a pleasure to do business there, and I know that I can trust the level of workmanship to be consistently high.

New Ripmo arrived yesterday afternoon via FEDEX...reassembled last night and out for the first ride this morning! Shout out to Tenafly Bicycle Workshop Shepard Grinker and Alex. They built it up to spec for me and then disassembled for shipping. I was happily surprised that the bike was spot on...other than your normal fork/shock adjustments, everything was right the first time...brakes, shifting ....all spot on! Great job guys! They did exactly what they promised from the first phone call!

The Tenafly Bicycle Workshop is what all bike shops should be like. The staff is extremely knowledgeable and any question you have, they will have an answer. But on top of that, they are just nice people. My first time in the shop, I felt like the staff already knew me for years. Everyone in the shop treats you great.

Be it building you a new bike, or working on your current one, you can rest assured that whoever works on your bike not only knows what they are doing but will take great pride in it too.

They do a whole lot for local trail advocacy and maintenance as well, which is awesome.

Needed a bike for a 25mile biking fundraiser. As a newbie to the sport Kevin was more than helpful in helping me choose a bike on a budget. Took his time didn't rush me and gave me options. Truly great customer service and informational. Thanks guys.

PROS: The staff here is the nicest you'll ever meet. The quality of the merchandise here is great and despite the prices being a little high, it's for the quality of the item. The staff is knowledgeable about biking and can even fix your bike if you need them too. There are even cycling groups that dispatch from the shop ever now and then. They allow you to test ride the bikes if you choose to, and they also have a lot of different stuff to buy relating to cycling.

CONS: Parking is very poor. There lot is small and the street is usually filled up. Inside, the building is small and flooded with gear, but despite the gear making it hard to move around in, they don't have a lot of stuff. They may provide all the materials you need, but the quantity isn't there.

OVERALL: I think it's a very cute little bike shop where the staff is mostly nice and very knowledgeable. There are many small bike shops but I think this is the most reputable. I recommend completely.

Best bike shop in the area by far. All of the employees are mechanics, ride themselves and dig trails. They have always been super responsive and care deeply about their customers. Besides all of that, by far the biggest demo fleet in the tristate area!

Great bike shop filled with great bikes and people. Yeti, Ibis, Trek, Alchemy are represented here (amongst others). Shop staff know their bikes and components, and they seem to like to tinker with components/builds so they know what works and what doesn't. These guys definitely have a wealth of information to help build your dream bike.

I picked up my new bike from them yesterday and the build was perfect. Thanks to Shepard, Kevin, and Dan for an awesome job! They are not close to me, but definitely worth the drive.

My go-to place now. Honestly the best bicycle shop experience I've had. Clean shop, looks brand new yet has been open for 4+ yrs. Had brake hardware that the bicycle II and moped spot didn't have a clue about.

I have been a loyal customer for over ten years and travel from NYC just to get my bike serviced. The service and salespeople are first rate as is the quality of their products.
I would take any negative reviews written in boldface with exclamation marks with a large grain of salt. Give them a try, you won't regret it.

I have been going to TBW for the past 3 years. I have purchased Road and Mountain Bikes and the experience is amazing. The staff is so knowledgeable, they can help the novice to the expert rider. The selection of bikes and ranges can suit all types of riders. If your looking for a great experience whether purchasing new or used, they can help you in making the right decision.

I have been bike commuting for a couple of years, and was interested in test riding a Gary Fisher Simple City 8. I used the Gary Fisher Web site to find several bike shops who were listed as carrying the bike, some as far away as 25 miles. I contacted about 5 shops, and no one had this bike in stock. Most of the shops wouldn't order the bike without payment in full, and one offered to order it if I paid 50%, which I could use as a store credit if I decided I didn't want the bike.

Tenafly Bicycle Workshop responded to my e-mail within minutes, said they did not have the bike in stock, but could have it in a week. They said I didn't need to make a deposit, they were confident that if I didn't want it, they could sell it. So I asked them to order it.

When the bike arrived and was assembled, they contacted me to come in for a test ride. The staff made several adjustments to make sure I had a comfortable fit. They did not press me to purchase it. I asked if they could hold it for 2 days while I thought about it, and they did. I bought the bike the next day, and was pleasantly surprised at the price they charged me. It was below the MSR price. I will buy from them again.

wonderful service. people are extremely nice, patient, kind, knowledgeable. you can tell they love what they do. I chose to purchase our bikes there vs. online just so I know I can always come to them for service. worth every dime.

Terrible service. When I asked him about placing an order, he said the wait time is about 5 month. then wouldn't even bother. I went to Trek in edgewater, NJ and ordered some bikes there.

These guys are the real deal. I m 68 and Shepard and his fellas take care of my bikes like I m a real racer. From the old METRO off-road bike I had years ago to the SPECIALIZED I got on my 60th from my family, they ve helped me ship to the HOLT MN Triathlon and tweaked my gears to make em run smoothly. Plus our girls s bikes check outs when we need. And on the 3rd, they got a repair done so I could ride the 4th. I highly recommend Bicycle Workshop for anything to do with your bike. Plus I ve gotten my helmets, gloves, shoes, bars there.
Try them out and you won t go anywhere else.

I was getting ready to replace my Yeti 575. The folks at TBW knew the new SB-66 was comming out soon and would be a more appropriate bike for me than another 575. Rather than make the quick sale they advised me well and I am glad I waited. I love my new Yeti SB-66. Rich even picks my bike up for service since I don't live in the immediate area.

Great bike shop. Expert mechanics. Danny s a gem. My wife s bicycle needed a brake adjustment. I stopped into Bicycle Workshop in Tenafly and Danny took care of me. No problem. Replaced the cable. Fixed brakes on the spot. Excellent work. What that did is allow my wife and I to enjoy a bike ride today, just enjoy time together. Excellent customer service and repair.

Overall I like supporting local owned stores and Tenafly Bicycle Workshop is no exception. We had an issue with an employee, and management came out directly to come and apologize after they found out about the issue. Always a solid bike shop and busy as ever due to the extra time people have due to C19.

Bought a used demo bike from these guys few years ago and it has been awesome. Repair side is maybe the best in the region! Also do tons for trail maintenanc .

I've been itching to replace a 9yo bike that I ride recreationally for some time now. Not only have I been shopping bikes, but also bike shops. I brought my old bike into TBW for a repair for the first time with no intent on upgrading on the spot. Not only did I find a fantastic shop, but I walked out with a new bike that I am very happy with. I am very pleased with my decision and by no means was I pressured into purchasing.

Bought a 2020 Trek Fuel EX8 there 5 months ago. The bike is fantastic. The staff here is very friendly and accommodating. I got a great deal. Big thanks to my salesman and expert bicycle tech Dan Santora (Carlos).

I had a horrible experience experience trying to purchase a bicycle online from this company! What started as a seemingly normal purchase transaction turns into a nightmare!
I just passed up bidding on the exact same bike for $1,500... I made Shepherd an offer of $1,800 for the bike and he accepted
I placed the nearly $2,000 order early on July 5th.which is about $500 more than what it's actually worth..... I had just recently moved to a different address and had not yet updated my information in eBay or PayPal. I had just purchased another bicycle for about the same amount. On ebay and had no issues having it sent to my new address...
He immediately started giving me a hard time... He stated he had been robbed in the past and was not able to recover funds for bicycles shipped... and that I needed to update my information in order for him to send it to my new address!... as a professional that runs a construction company I would never discuss my personal past issues I've had with new customers.
So I spent 40 minutes this morning updating my information only to be told he still could not send it .. since the bike was already paid for on my debit card he didn't feel he needed to deliver good customer service.
Seems to me if my name would have been John or Mike I may have gotten a little bit better service & benefit of the doubt. but since my name is Luis he felt inclined to treat me like a second-class citizen..
I build high-end pools for clients on Palm Beach Island! I would not be in business today if I ran my company like this clown does..
My kickboxing trainer back in grade school Steve Sheppard is a great guy... Extremely consistent and ran a solid business!. I guess not all shepherds are created equal. Horrible experience with the Jersey slum crew.. I should have known better!.

I was able to test ride a variety of bikes and got helpful answers so I could understand types of brakes, suspension, etc and decide which model was right for me. Happy with my purchase.

I've made several large bike gear purchases from Tenafly Bicycle Workshop and I've had absolutely superb experiences every time. Their stuff definitely covers high-end bikes (Ibis, Yeti, Seven etc), but they sell something for every cyclist. I am also impressed with their community involvement, both in the local trail building efforts, but also with NICA, a great race organization for kids.

Bought my first mtb here and have been going here for almost two years now. Every time I have gone (which is very often), I have been satisfied with what I got out of it. The service is great and fast, the employees are well educated on bikes, and it has a great variety from entry level hardtails, to the highest class bikes with fox suspension and dialed.... Well, everything. They also sell road bikes and hybrids. Personally my experiences there have been like no other bike shop I've been to, the employees have given me free items like patch kits, adaptors, and pry tools with my purchases and I'm very satisfied with each thing I purchase there. They even went as far as to show me a pump track near the area that now, I visit quite often. The people at the shop are great riders and are a big help.
I highly recommend it.

Great shop. I'm not even from the area but I was able to call up the shop, speak with them about some bikes, confirm some sizing questions on the phone and place an order. There was a hiccup using PayPal (my fault, not theirs) and the owner was very quick to respond to texts and even called me to get it sorted out quickly. They had the bike boxed up and ready to ship out within a few hours of my order. Great people to deal with.

I purchased a bike out of Englewood NJ a few months ago. If I knew Tenafly Bicycle Workshop existed then, I would have purchased here instead of in Englewood. Customer service and technical knowledge in Tenafly has no equal.

Recently I bought an Ibis from TBW and couldn't be happier. I was replacing an older hardtail race bike and wanted a modern trail bike but wasn't sure what to get. The guys at (Kevin, Danny and Shepard) were super helpful, answering many questions and steering me towards a great bike. I had a budget and they helped me find a bang for the buck build with great and modest upgrades. No hard sell. No up sell. They are riders happy to see someone satisfied with their new bike. I visited the shop a couple of times, rode a demo and a customer's bike before deciding and felt welcome each time. Shepard spent considerable time getting the suspension dialed when I picked the bike up. Couldn't be happier!!

a step farther down than even before, not a good place if you just need something fixed, they seem to be VERY heavy on selling there standard tune-ups, even if its only been a month since your last one and about 80 miles. One of the owners seemed friendly.

Ordered a Yeti mountain bike with TBW. My bike was shipped and built in the initially described time, staff were helpful with questions I had before and after the purchase, and the little build details such as shrink wrapped cables, well installed heli tape, etc... were nice bonuses. Also one of the few places near me with a large demo fleet. I would've tried more bikes but I was quite set on my purchase even before demoing. They also signed me up with their points membership which is definitely going to have me going back to the for upgrades and repairs in the future. The shop itself looks quite nice and has a great selection of brands and items in store.

One of the owners just doesn't belong to the service industry, pushy, argumentative, aggressive. The mechanic did a decent job on my turner sultan, just had to tune up the gear myself and missing a cable holder after the repair. They are somewhat aggressive on the sales, rather than service. Overall it is an ok shop for simple repairs, inexpensive bikes and tricycles.

I have been a customer since 2002. The shop has built up two bicycles for me including a Rivendell Rambouillet set up as a credit card tourer and a Look 585 set up for a 40+ year old way past his racing age. The staff appreciated both bikes and don't mind eclectic tastes in bicycle parts. I have had four sets of wheels built up, and all were without issues. Highly recommended.

I dont do reviews but I have to here. This shop is amazing. Other shops talk the talk. They walk the walk. Their staff have PHDs in mountain biking, suspension set up and trail stewardship. Their service is phenomenal down to the last bolt. Selection goes from top ultra custom builds to alloy rides whatever works for your wallet. Judgment free zone. And if your in the area go have a beer with them and just kick it! Just go in. Youll see!

You can't go wrong with this shop! The entire shop is staffed by people most interested in getting you on the right bike or mechanics who know how to fix/build bike like pro's. I did a lot of looking around for my last MTB purchase and the level of service here was simply the best. Not only do they carry great brands, they seem truly committed finding the best bike for your riding style and price point and then they have the technical ability to tune the bike to how you want it to perform (and they will not stop until they get it right for you). You're not going to get that level of service on the internet or from a big box store (good luck getting them to set it up for you or fix it.) Tenafly's mechanics are outstanding and went out of their way to build the bike right. I'll definitely be a repeat customer.
