Immersive, unique, fantastic staff, amazing location a great resort, highly recommended. Ten Thousand Waves is a jewel of a resort set in the beautiful mountainous area just above Santa Fe. The theme of the resort revolves around Japanese culture split between the lodging, spa, and dining. First and foremost, the staff in the office, housekeeping, spa, and restaurant were all consistently fabulous and key to the relaxing experience of the resort. We stayed in the Blue Moon suite, a lovely, three-room accommodation highlighting Japanese styling. The suite included: an expansive, comfy bed in the Japanese styling of firm and low; kimonos and sandals; plenty of bedding and blankets; private patio; fireplace/wood; microwave/fridge; fruit, milk, and granola; two sinks with plenty of vanity space; a nice shower; an electric toilet (heated seat!); a private parking spot; and more. The hilly property is beautifully landscaped and bisected with paths and dirt roads/parking. We enjoyed three trips to the spa for the Ofuro (spa suite), (Shoji) private tub, and massage. Hint: pair a trip to the Ofuro private spa suite with dining at Izanami for a fantastic, romantic experience with your sweetie. The spa is incredible, well run, and well-appointed in Japanese styling featuring soaking tubs, massage, and skin care. The restaurant, Izanami (covered in a separate review), is a great upscale izakaya dining focused on small plates of delectable goodness and a wide variety of sakes, teas, and beers. We ate at Izanami four times and loved it. The resort location is a quick drive to a wide variety of mountain/forest parks with hiking trails, the Santa Fe plaza, and Ski Santa Fe; there are also other northern New Mexico attractions just an hour or two drive away, such as the awesome Bandelier National Monument. You can visit Ten Thousand Waves for any mix of lodging, spa, and dining experiences; consider all three for an immersive experience and combine with some visits to local attractions. The costs at the resort are moderate to high but priced very reasonably to the quality of service. Overall, I rate Ten Thousand Waves as a great value for amazing staff, excellent services, immersive relaxation, outstanding location, and on-target pricing. Highly recommended one of the great resorts of the U.S.
