I had a bad experience at Tempe Camera, but their staff took responsibility for the error and worked with me to correct the problem. Definitely recommend them for gear sales and rentals.

It had a lens for me at a great price, and when I didn't know something about it, they helped right away. First time and not my last.
Horrible customer service!!!!!!! They tell you one thing over the phone and something else when you get there!! Will not recommend this place to anyone.
Went to have camera cleaning work done. Before entering they do a temperature check, indicating they care about the customers. The individual I talked to was very helpful. He explained everything about what needed to be done to my cameras. Great customer service.
Thanks to Guy who helped me with purchasing my new camera and helping me with some menu settings.
I brought in a camera to get its shutter fixed. The also had a used camera for sale that I though I would try out. After shooting with it for one day the camera I was trying out broke. I went back and they claimed I broke it and it was all my fault. They gave me back my old camera that was fixed and now it makes a horrible noise that is "normal". Never I repeat Never take anything here to get fixed. I feel like I was stabbed in the back. Thousands of dollars lost.
Great place to buy and sell your used camera equipment
Great place, super knowledgeable staff. Sometimes incredible deals lurking in the used gear.
I brought my camera in as the lens cover on my Canon Powershot had got some sand in it and wouldn't close. They cleaned it out and it worked fine--with no charge. We came here originally as they were recommended by another camera place up in Sedona. Definitely the place to go if you have a camera needed service.
Came in today to look at a couple of backpacks and try to find a screw for my tripod plate. John tried to find me the correct screw for the plate but couldn't which I expected since its an off-brand plate, but it wasn't for lack of trying. I ended up buying a bag and a flash.
Thank you John for being so pleasant and helpful your kind of customer service will keep me buying locally, at Tempe Camera instead of on line. Another plus is that their pricing in the same as Adorama and B&H.
I Use to love this place, but they ve changed!!! I have been trying to talk to the manager about several developing errors they have made on my past 3 orders! BUT after 4 messages and no call back, I am resorting to an honest review:
I have a business. I need developing I can rely on. I know mistakes can happen, and I have been understanding, but sadly enough is enough. When they couldn t get my simplest order right (third in a row), then had a very trite, smug attitude about it, I asked to talk to a manager. They will take a note no call. I left an email no call. Sadly, I think they are not customer oriented anymore because they figure we don t have a lot of other options. I am now looking for options. Someone else will want the hundreds of dollars my company spends.
Friendly and knowledgeable people and a large variety of new and used camera equipment from lenses and camera body types to lights and accessories. I just wish I didn't live so far!
Salesman was very nice and knowledgeable, in no hurry to rush off, and helped me find what I needed.
Very knowledgeable, professional and helpful staff... must stop if your either a beginner or advanced photographer... you can get it all... you can even rent equipment... great place!
They have just about anything a pro would need, and if they don't, they will get it for you. Good staff, they have always treated me well. I would recommend to anyone for buying or renting equipment!
They are polite, helpful and helped me when looking for specific items, answered all my questions. Great shop!
In my opinion, this is best places for photography supplies in the Phoenix area, the staff are always helpful and friendly.
They were a great help being I know nothing about camera's
Simply said if you need anything for digital or film photography, this is the place. New and used equipment as well as rental equipment and repairs.
The staff don't care anymore. Rude. Disinterested. Can't look real talent in the face and be honest. Take your work and business elsewhere! Shop at B&H Photo Video dot com and get better prices.
Received an awesome gift from here. Black and White matte finished copy of a digital picture.
Love this place! The repair guys are great and sales doesn't mess around while helping you. Buy here, not online.
Great place. I need them to stick around another 20 years
They have a ton of stuff, but they're double the price versus Amazon or somewhere else online. If you need something specific or you're in a pinch it's a great place though!
I took my wife's Sony camera there as it had developed a fault that would not let it open the lens. The guy behind the counter could not have been more helpful. He explained the Sony does not supply spare parts so they are limited in what they can do. He did know of the problem (and so does Sony) and checked the lens contacts and other things on the camera. He then went and checked with Sony for any recalls for the problem. He said there were none but he gave me a number to call for Sony to have them check it. He said he was sorry he could not help and that I had to wait as he had another customer in front of me. He has helped a lot as after calling the number he gave me Sony have ask me to send them back the lens so they can fix it.
Not very knowledgeable or helpful customer service. Asked for a replacement lens cap for a Nikon 58 1.4G and they told me they ve never heard of the lens. It s a currently produced and sold professional lens. Instead of helping, they just let me look up the size of the cap on my phone and told me Nikon brand products are more expensive and I should look at the generic. They did have it in stock, but at $7 more than B+H, and at the expense of being a respected customer. Bummer. I d like to support brick and mortar, but what s the point of that s how they treat a professional photographer.
Best in the area hands down. They have repairs rentals and all the best cameras money can buy. Great souls willing to help with any questions in the field.
Awesome experience. Will recommend to everyone. Guy is the best ! Thank you
Brought a camera in to get looked at and the dude was super helpful and informative.
This place is huge! They have everything you can imagine from high end digital and video cameras and lenses, to classic film cameras, to all of the gear you could possibly need.
Staff was knowledgeable about the items I was buying. Had a great collection of items (cameras, lenses and accessories). Will check there before buying from chain box stores.
Guy Reed, Thank You! If you are looking for knowledge and direction, Guy has watched over me for years. I am on my 4th camera! I won't say everyone at Tempe Camera gets customer service, but I will say "Most of them do." Guy, David and a couple of the other sales and service people get what it takes to keep people buying local. I buy a camera online, I have to spend hours learning the new features. If I buy a camera, lens, backup camera or anything else. I either set a time with Guy or Call before I drop in on him and ask for a walk through on my new, Camera, Len's or anything else I need a better understanding of. I can say, I did not get this when I first climbed into the Digital World, but with allot of patients from Guy and some of the other sales and service people, I learn and get what I need ASAP in order to get back out in the field shooting. I will say, you need to time things right, if you drop in right as an ASU semester starts, theses folks are going to be running 100 mph, use your head, have respect and you will get respect. I needed allot of direction and help when I was converting to digital and getting back into Photography. My first experience was on the development side, it did not go so well. I did not go back for a year. But I did go back, Guy has taken personal care of me, my family and friends, like they were his family. I walk in now, he knows what I tend to photograph most, what my style is and what equipment I need. We may discuss it back and forth a bit, but I end up with the right equipment for my art. He doe's not push, he guides. Please remember to take the time to get to know your sales and service people and they will get to know you. The extra you may pay in tax vs online purchases is well worth the backup when stuff hits the wall. Aaron Blackburn wrote the review before me, he is one of 3 of the hardest working full time photographers I know. The other two live in different states, and still come back to deal with Tempe Camera.
Excellent service, knowledgeable staff and a wide selection of products.
Very friendly alot of amazing equipment very helpful you let them know what your trying to do and they did everything they could to get me set up with what I needed staff are amazing they also have the best dark room I know of as well as repair facility they are great good repairs good service helpful friendly and amazing advice will be going back for years to come
I probably got a bad sales guy because I've heard good things, but this was the first and last time I walk in there. I was going to see what used equipment they had and the second question the guy asks is what my budget is.. not asking if I've been in there before or what I'll be using the camera for. I understand photography and took multiple classes back in high school, plus did my own research and had an idea of what I need. I'm not about to be up-sold on something at the top of my budget, so I didn't answer his question and said I would like to see what you have. I have my own business instructing golf/golf brand so I would use the camera for making videos for social media along with using the camera to take pictures of products. I also enjoy being outdoors and photography in general. The used selection was limited, so he shows me new products. I ask what the difference is between the 80D and T7i and just told me the processor is better in the 80D. Followed by saying if I "can't justify the price difference to mom" the T7i is fine. Sure I look younger, but I'm not a poor student and I wasn't going to be disrespected like that. I have a Bachelor of Business Administration degree I earned while working full time and have never been financially dependent on my parents. I told him thank you and left.
After purchasing a camera and returning it once I realized it had defect, the salesperson gave me a refund. Excellent selection and very nice people. Will be returning!
Guy is great. Store is great. Right up from my house. Tempe camera for me.
Not friendly at all the guy showing me the lenses up stairs. mad me not purchase the lens I was going to buy.
Chris was entirely too helpful. I came in with an issue that couldn't be solved and still he found a way to solve it. He went the extra mile to make sure i left the store with my problem solved and I did!!
Wide variety of camera & equipment rentals as well as stuff to buy. I've rented from there several times and gotten several camera batteries. The only downside is you need to use a credit card for rentals.
Great, specialized, and large camera store in the Valley. If you are into photography you just have to make a stop here and check it out. They also host great talks & workshops.
Large selection of cameras and other photography equipment/accessories. Staff was very helpful in answering my questions and prices were competitive.
Great service and very friendly sales staff! Open to questions and always willing to offer advice
Just called to try to place an order. Guy in sales just transferred me to someone s voicemail, no warning. Guess they don t want business. Went online to try to place and order and they are definitely loading their equipment rates. Won t order from them or go into the store that s for sure. Have better customer service
Anything you could possibly need for your photography hobby or profession can be found here. Single rolls of any film, vintage cameras, and all kinds of accessories. Also right next door is the imaging center to get your film rolls developed.
The staff are very knowledgeable, and helpful. I do a lot of reasearch online, but it's great to walk into a store, hold the item in your hand, test it out, and have someone who can answer your questions and give insightful recommendations. They also have repair and rental services.
After passing by several times, I finally stopped in and wasn't disappointed. I began looking at tripods and was soon helped by a friendly employee named Eric. Eric was very knowledgeable and helped me make my purchase with confidence. I have only been shooting with DSLR cameras for about a year, so having a local shop (and sales rep) I can trust for advice on equipment is a huge sell over Amazon/Best Buy. Would purchase from this store again.
Absolutely the best camera store in Arizona. Their staff is so knowledgeable and down to earth. The sales department has everything you could possibly think of and service and repair department is extremely efficient. Great rental department as well. David Lloyd is my favorite salesman and probably one of the best photographers in the country.
I've been dealing with these guys for over 40 years and I can sum them up in three words: They're the BEST!
I've shot all over the country and have had to pick up one thing or another from other shops all over the place. Not one of them can compare to TCR. Not one.
If you want a great staff who knows this crazy industry inside and out, a great selection of products, and great prices, this is the place to go.
Not much point in advertising yourself as a repair shop if you can't do the repairs. Twice in a row, I called ahead before bringing in Nikon gear. Both times, once I arrived, they told me they would have to send it to Nikon. Thanks for wasting my time. I can send things to Nikon without your help.
First rate staff and comparable prices and a huge selection
The staff were friendly and obviously super knowledgeable. I won't be ordering online photograpjy equipment products anymore.
This place is great many products offered in store plenty of parking if you need to get a camera repaired they will give you their honest opinion whether they can or cannot do the job and they are willing to offer their advice for free
Best option in the city - but they are about 10-15% more expensive. Necessary evil? Staff is super nice and helpful. True photophiles.
Staff is friendly and helpful. Was able to find a good used camera bag at a great price.
Bought a camera, the gentleman was very helpful (thank you John!) and when I had questions and called the store later they were so quick to help. Thanks for a great experience!
Pretty much everything you need in the idea of photography. Most of the staff very nice and helpful with a couple of not so nice exceptions.
Great store, Kathy was very patient and helpful. Recommended store:)
Looked for a tripod for plein air painting. Received good help in finding a perfect light and foldable one, and solution to attach it to a palette. I'm a happy camper.
I have received the benefits of Mike DeLanie's repair wizardry twice on my tripods. As a birder, I depend on a tripod to hold my spotting scope steady. Moving from place to place, in and out of cars, requires that I extend the legs and collapse them often. He is the tripod guru in my book. He is so obliging, doing what he knows my tripod needs to be fully functional for me. The first time he saved my upcoming Alaska vacation! The last time, he solved a problem I have had since I bought a new head to attach my spotting scope to my tripod. Many, many thanks Mike and Tempe Camera for great service!!!
I won t buy new gear here. It s all at retail prices. Good repair shop though for local service.
Was looking for a tripod plate and ended up buying a led light. Good customer service, average prices
Very helpful, friendly, and knowledgeable staff, great selection of products. I'm pretty picky about my photo stuff and they allow you to try it in store, return, and ask all the questions you want. Can't see myself going to any other store in the valley
Came in today to ask questions about older film cameras. Was "helped" by a man with a University of Michigan hat and shirt. Should've known not to expect help. Every question was met with "You'll have to contact Kodak" and "I don't know" and then we were ignored so he could talk to someone else. That's the last time I come to the camera shop part of the store. Employ people who genuinely want to help or understand cameras. The film development and rental departments? They're great!
Great place but maybe should have someone who knows how to work a register and not just types with one but wonderful place
Art was very helpful showing and picking out cameras for the photography i needed to do within my budget constraints. He was also incredibly friendly. We settled on a Canon 77D with a lens and a couple filters. I won't be going anywhere else.
Best camera shop in town. Sales, repairs, rentals...this is one-stop shopping. VERY helpful staff. I was a commercial photographer, and after trying a couple different shops I ended up with Tempe Camera and have been going there for close to 20 years.
I used to love this place. But recently Joe has let it go to the can. Customer service is horrible and it s basicslly a bunch of arrogant jerks and cocky college kids hanging out at a camera shop. They don t care about their customers any longer and have no sense of what true customer service is. Really sad because it used to be a great place!! Be VERY careful dealing with these people!!!!!
Such an awesome customer service! Guy spent more than an hour helping us to find the right equipment! If I could put 10 stars I would totally do!
long time Tempe business. although the could not fix my small camera they were very professional, friendly and gave good service.
Very helpful staff that could answer my questions and help me make a wise purchase.
Very friendly and helpful environment. Answered all my questions and were willing to show different examples and offer alternative options for what I needed.
Last week we drove up to Tempe from Tucson. My baby (Contax RTS) with Zeiss lenses stopped working. The repair personsaid the self-timer was jammed and the camera needed a new battery. He spent 15 minutes working on it, fixed it, and only charged me for the new battery. WOW!! A++
Very helpful staff! Called about renting a lens and they were able to pick out the best lens for my use. They even gave me a discount because I was travelling on some of the days I was renting the lens. Will definitely return for future services!
