One of the most beautiful structures of the 900 present in Palermo. Wonderful theater, beautiful outside and beautiful inside.
One of the most beautiful structures of the 900 present in Palermo. Wonderful theater, beautiful outside and beautiful inside.
Little overrated , seems more grandiose from outside than inside , the visit ticket are in the same place than the shows tickets the the line could be long and mostly slooooowwww
Very grand looking building with great interior.. they have great plays and fantastic choir too..
Splendid Sunday walk through the streets of the city of Palermo
A spectacular square to visit, don't miss this wonder.
Best wishes to this mega beautiful city that has become my second city, and also from him who has been nominated by the Palermitans as the mascot of Palermo and that is
"The dog with the handkerchiefs"
This is an impressive square and building. One of the places that made me love Palermo.
It's amazing location the movie The Godfather (The Godfather III) filmed at the Teatro Massimo. It is very large, the third largest opera house in Europe after The Opera house in Paris and Vienna, The stage, we were told is larger than the auditorium. The dome ceiling is beautifully painted.
It was a fun and rewarding time with a very friendly and professional guide. Visitors are multinational, so I alternated between Italian and English. It was cluttered because it was under construction, but I had a really good time. The view of Palermo from the rooftop of the theater was fantastic.
Do you remember the end of the movie, Godfather 3, where they kill his daughter on the stairs?
Well, it was recorded in this theater ...
And the heart of Palermo
Splendid !!!
It is worth knowing and finishing the guided tour (with the right to see rehearsals of the day) with a delicious cafe in the themed cafeteria.

The third largest theater in Europe, located in the center of Palermo, gives its best in the Christmas period when the entrance stairway is covered with "Christmas stars".
The interior of the theater is something magical, spectacular and the roof still works.
We took the tour of the theatre we were looking to combine the backstage tour but it was not available. The theatre tour costs 8 euro under 25 s I think 5 euro. The theatre is all boxes which is quite different and only a certain amount of stall type seats. These are the most expensive. The royal box which Michael corleone sat in has quite a few seats but if you would like to see a programme here it would cosy you 120 euros to 150 and has to be booked ahead online. The steps were Michael corleone was shot and his sister killed you can see on the internet then imagine it as you stand there.
5 stars to the impressive appearance and visual impact. The interiors do not stand up to comparison, and the guided tour was perhaps a bit hasty and quick. On a positive note, you may encounter general rehearsals for the orchestra or dancers. Sounds cool.
What to add to what is already widely revealed by the majesty and elegance of the theater? The excellent organization of events in full post-covid security, the choice of performances, the extreme skill of the interpreters. A must see / visit.
Bello I was curious to see him because I love Benigni and in the film jonni stecchino there was the scene in the theater and it was shot in this theater
I didn't visit a performance but the building looks interesting.
Excellent, guided tour well represented by the guide!
Eight euros .. maybe they are not few!
Elegant Theater in the center of Palermo, a monument to admire in all its perfection during the visit to the city
What to say? I mean, if you have seen some pictures, surely you realized that they talk themselves about the magnificence of its figure, especially during Christmas period!
After you admired it from outside, you won't be disappointed going inside! Absolutely amazing!
If you are in Palermo for a while, both for a work journey or for vacation, the Teatro Massimo is absolutely a must to visit!
Just a honest word of a native of Palermo!
Beautiful theater, beautiful outside with its grandeur and beautiful inside, one of the beauties that Palermo can be proud of.
Grand place, it is beautiful, the tour guide was bored and very hurried. Did more guiding in italian than in english. I liked politeamo more and it was cheaper. It is spectacular by its size but just a theater.
SONTUOUS TEMPLE OF THE OPERA, WHERE THE BEAUTIFUL IS IN EVERY CORNER, IN EVERY FOYER. GREAT WITNESS OF A PALERMO NOT ONLY OPULENT, BUT CULTURED AND REFINED.
Very impressive building from the inside as well as from the outside. Unfortunately, you let the beautiful building completely rotten in its substance. Starting with the window frames, where the paint has long ago flaked off, so that the wood began to mold. The much too high humidity inside the theater makes the ceilings fragile. Although the repair of the entire structure is not that long ago, the building looks like it has been standing there for at least 60 years without renovation. With such a large building, the repair work must be carried out at regular intervals. Considering how much one earns alone on daily tours of the empty building, I wonder where the money is going. Why do you let the beautiful theater go so wrong?
Historic theater and certainly a truly spectacular place. Fantastic acoustics. Being ancient it has different problems like the lack of air conditioning and there is only one lift.
Teatro was amazing but the girl who guided us was rude, she rolled her eyes and was very nervous.
Well maintained from the outside, the first theater in Europe to experiment with seating at different heights
You only understand it after visiting it. This is the 3rd largest theater in Europe. Of a unique beauty. Well managed on a tourist level. Is worth.
Loved the guided tour. Available in french, english and italian for 8 per person. Beautiful place. We were fortunate enough to be there while the opera singers from the Rigoletto were rehearsing. It was amazing! So impressive!
One of the most beautiful theaters in the world with the highest nave in Europe, ..It has a long and beautiful story if you come to Palermo I tell you the story by Francy hops
Stunning. The backstage tour is not recommended, it simply shows you the back for 5 minutes and tells you it's the third biggest stage in Europe.
The 3 biggest THEATER Europe is a must see in Palermo. A place with a broad history. Its auxiliary rooms with perfect acoustics, its moving roof, its capacity, everything INCREDIBLE.
Worth the guided visit, beautiful place both outside and inside
Beautiful by day and fabulous in the evening with the outline of a palermo lit up and full of life. Not to be missed if you are in Sicily
Ladies and Gentlemen, all standing, talking about the Teatro Massimo well known. The largest theater d 'Italy and among the biggest in the world. Those who are on holiday in Palermo do not hesitate to visit it, I recommend adding a guided tour. Good vision . Let me add some photos that certainly does not make justice to the beauty of the theater. The online site is increasingly important in the management of theatrical activities with the possibility of purchasing the season ticket and booking a theater visit with explanations in four languages. I invite you to visit the theater website!
Granted the place is very beautiful but with the guided tour that charges 8 Euro and little smile from the guide is a bit too over priced
She was speaking half the time in Italian so truly a 15 min guide should cost 4 Euro and not 8 Euro
We were a group of at least 20 people x 8 so 160 Euro income for 30 mins , no wonder our guide didn't seem to be happy as I can imagine how much is is getting a month to say the same thing over and over again.
One of the most beautiful places in Palermo, nice atmosphere, many tourists.
Superb in the Christmas period, with many bright and floral decorations, very elegant. Definitely a place to visit.
Take the guided tour to see where the Godfather Sat in the movie
Beautiful theater. It is the third largest in Europe and the first in Italy.
The guided tour is very interesting and allows entry into the royal box.
We could not visit the stage due to ongoing trials. Find out why at other times it is possible to do so.
Recommended
A work of history of Palermo. The point of reference and pride. Wonderful shows in any season, staged by true professional artists
Beautiful theater. Cool outdoor display. Very beautiful both day and night.
Might be cool inside but we didn't want to pay 8 for a 39-minute tour to see it, so the rest of the building as an attraction is not very magnetic.
Spend it in its majesty. Well maintained interiors and attentive and helpful staff. The atmosphere during the performance was pleasant. Hours respected per second. A very significant experience.
Magnificent and magical theater outside and inside.
One of the most beautiful opera houses in Italy. Coming to Catania you can't miss it.
This theater is simply monumental with an architecture full of stories. Guided tour but the interior is worth the trip.
Its location is ideal for other visits.
I recommend
Wow ... this is the only thing that can be said in the face of such grandeur, magnificence, importance and beauty. I don't think there is anything so beautiful and cumbersome in Europe. Art, art in its most imperial form, that art that displaces you and pulls you! If you go to Palermo, if you come to Palermo, you can't miss it! You cannot escape from visiting him, even from the outside, just to be able to bow down to him, just to feel really small. The largest theater in Italy, the third most important in Europe.
Mostly populated.fresh air .calm place to stay even hot days.
Since childhood is a recurrent place of my visits to Palermo. How not to admire in a town planning that in the last centuries has always raised to the city, a generous jewel.
I am already a fan of Italy and Italian culture. The Italians have done it again. The place is in Sicily but Italy is Italy.
Europe's third largest theater in size. Located in the central area of Palermo
Always enchanting, and the Rigoletto of tonight with Maestro Leo Nucci was stratospheric
Seen only externally it seems to me a magical place, in the evening it is beautiful
Beautiful totally pedestrian square deserves a visit both during the day and in the evening where the lighting makes it even more suggestive
It is certainly one of the symbols of Palermo. Magical, suggestive, huge, it leaves you breathless even if it is seen a thousand times. Unfortunately I only went in once, but I was left with my mouth open: I don't have enough words to describe what I saw ... There were rehearsals of classical ballets, shows ... The guide explained everything about the history of this gem. At Christmas it is covered with lights, which makes it even more impressive
Many expectations for "La Traviata" that disappointed me, except for the choir, always up to its fame. Sometimes even "Violetta" excited me. Disappointing "Alfredo", almost without a soul. Almost unbearable heat inside the theater, which still retains its charm.
In the evening it is a show, what a pity not to have been able to see it inside ...
One of the symbols of Palermo, a photo here in the evening is a must. From here begins the tour in the center of Palermo, in the art and history of the city.
One of the most splendid and gorgeous theatres I have ever been in. Well-maintained, superb stage and brilliant acoustics. We watched My Fair Lady on its final night and it was such an opportunity. It was easy to get tickets from the box office.
The architecture and interior is lovely. We wanted to also do the day tour but was unable to fit it in. 10/10 would recommend. Hope to return again! Definitely the highlight of my Palermo trip.
The gardens and square upfront are also pretty nice areas to just sit and relax in between the shopping. There is always some interesting event - raising awareness happening in the square. One evening, a local charity had organised for special needs children to visit. It's great to see them utilising such a lovely place for community action as well.
