Tour was kind of a let down. True we went on a Sunday so no chocolate was being made but even so, would not call it a great tour but the sampling of all their different chocolates at the end of the tour makes the $10 charge worth it. Still, not worth the detour unless you are really looking into buying their chocolate which is gritty and out of the ordinary.

Never been to the location however, I have tried the chocolate and I must say I love the grainy texture. It is not something I see in chocolate normally and it makes it unique. The chocolate itself is very good

This is probably my favorite chocolate that I've tried and the tour is great! It's a relatively small operation, but they still do a good job telling you about the process and what makes Taza unique. Afterwards, you can sample the different types and then buy lots for yourself (maybe friends too).

We went for a tour today and were absolutely blown away. So many delicious samples, a thorough and informative tour, and more samples! This was an amazing experience and I highly recommend it to people of all ages. So much fun!!

The chocolate tour here is a lot of fun and very cheap. The tour shows how they process the chocolate from bean to bar and it's really fun. Taza allows you to try a lot of different varieties of their chocolate during and after their tour. I would recommend a visit for people of any age, whether you are a chocolate fan or not. I typically don't like dark chocolate but this is some of my favorite. My only complaint is the price, which is about twice as much as I usually pay for a chocolate bar, but I guess you get what you pay for.

It was disappointing to travel 3 hours to find ourselves on a poor 20 minute tour. The person who attended us at 4:00 pm lacked enthusiasm and knowledge. I understand that such an interesting job should be better presented and more varied. Finally I asked her about the mug and she didn't know what it was.

Very cool place to visit in Boston. If you want to take a tour call and make sure of times. You can walk through without a tour but you probably learn more with it. The girl at the counter was helpful with letting me sample pieces to see which I liked better and parking was available.

The Taza Chocolate tour is a great thing to do in Boston, and you get to sample Taza's delicious chocolate while you're at it. On the tour, you actually get to see almost all of the equipment and ingredients used to make Taza's bean-to-bar chocolate, which I personally find fascinating. Afterwards, you get to sample and buy Taza's chocolate, which is delicious if you like chocolate for reasons other than sugar content. The Taza factory is well worth going to if you have some spare time on a weekend.

SUCH a great chocolate factory tour for a date night with friends. Staff was super courteous and let us delay our tour until all ten people were present. Samples were unending, and tour guide presented information in a fun way. Everyone was so glad we did it. Can't go wrong with this tour. Only regret is that we did it at the end of the day when the machines weren't running.

This review is about the chocolate, not the tour. I was given a few Taza chocolate bars as a gift. The fact that so many reviews are raves is astounding. It leads me to believe that if you packaged dog poop with "fair trade" and "stone ground" on the wrapper, people would go into ecstatic raves about it. "Stone ground" is for whole wheat bread, not for chocolate. Chocolate is supposed to be smooth. This stuff is like eating sand mixed with a sickening amount of sugar and a touch of cocoa. Blech.

The chocolate here is unreal! Dark dark dark. We did the tour of the factory which was very informative and fun to see how the chocolate is made. We also got a whole bunch of samples during the tour. The chocolate is relatively expensive, but it is small batch, fair trade, etc, and so the price is expected.

This chocolate is so good! They have chocolate offerings that can cater to any taste, whether it's sweet, super sweet, subtle, dark, or unique flavors. My favorites that I have tried are the coconut chocolate, peppermint chocolate, and their almond chocolate. The way these flavors blend into the chocolate pieces is unlike any chocolate I have ever had (even the luxury chocolates!)

Great tour! Great chocolate! Totally worth the visit, though I wish the tour was free... $8 seems a little steep for some info you could read online and a few crumbled chocolate samples. The chocolate is a little expensive too, but very good.

Fantastic tour, with a knowledgeable staff member. The tour is great value, with almost unlimited samples! The chocolate itself is a bit pricey, however, the quality is impeccable and with all the chocolate being fairtrade, Non-GMO, vegan friendly, etc., the prices are OK for organic chocolate. For about $8, the tour is well worth it! Just be warned - book ahead because the tours fill up fast! Well worth a visit if you're in the Somerville area.

What a nice place to visit! The tour isn't long but it's informative and interesting. They walk you through the process and invite questions! The chocolate is interesting; it's not your average chocolate bar.

The Taza factory tour is one of our favorite thing to do with out of town guests! It's only $5, and you learn a ton about how the chocolate is made, but MOST importantly, you get to try as many samples as you want! Bonus points if they've got samples of hot chocolate the day you go. The salt and pepper chocolate is my favorite!

Their tour was a really great experience and company. Their commitment to making chocolate the right way and supporting communities all over the world is reason enough to give them some business.

Also they gave us a TON of chocolate on the tour!

Great tour, worth the $8. The tour guide was very informative from start to finish. So many tastings given all throughout. My favs were the tastings at the very end. I walked out purchasing two vanilla discs. I would recommend to anyone that enjoys eating chocolate.

The Taza Chocolate factory in Somerville was awesome! I brought my uncle, aunt and three cousins with me for a tour and tasting. They all thought it was a cool thing to do on a Saturday or Sunday and were glad I suggested the idea of going there.

One of my cousins eats a vegan diet, so she was thrilled at the prospect of eating dairy-free, gluten-free chocolate. She could indulge, but not worry about consuming animal products. How cool is that?!

The tour was informative, but fun. It kept the attention of a 12-year-old boy (my cousin) and that is saying something. We bought a few of their products in the store section after the tour finished. We sampled almost every flavor and type; it was fantastic. Free chocolate!

I enjoyed the tour and I understand they're trying to make an alternative chocolate, but personally I just don't like the grainy texture. Three stars for the chocolate, but four for the whole experience.

Pro tip: sample, sample, sample. It's free, so try everything at least twice :-).

One of the better factory tours I've been on. You see the actual production line. You learn about different types of chocolate and what makes Taza unique. And you eat more in samples than the tour costs.

Fair warning: if you like this style of chocolate - or come to like it during the tour - you are going to spend a fortune buying more to take home.

Cool local chocolate factory. They do tours on the weekend and sell a good variety of exotic Mexican style chocolate. The chocolate made in this style tends to be very grainy or sandy, which I like a lot but I could see where others might not. The chocolate here tends to be the best in the darker categories. They even have a spicy chocolate bar that I have seen some coffee shops use to make spicy mochas.

Best. Chocolate. Ever.

Best. Chocolate. Ever.

Also, the events are crazy fun, from Taco Trucks to Union Square Donuts!

Tour was informative, detailed and highly engaging for both myself and my 11 yr old. Tour guide was friendly and generous with samples. Chocolate is very different but we both found it delicious.

The chocolate tour is surprisingly pretty tame and mostly involves looking through the glass window which everyone who visits the store is allowed to do while someone explains the machinery. Thought it would be more interactive. For 8 dollars for the tour, you got to taste a bunch of chocolate.

Taza makes stone ground chocolates, which makes for a unique, interesting, and tasty visit. The tour is about half an hour and was well worth the money for us as we got a decent amount of samples and learned a lot about the chocolate making traditions from Mexico that are emulated at Taza. Our tour guide was quite knowledgeable and personable.

Given the craft quality, the chocolate isn't cheap of course, but it's a great souvenir or stocking stuffer for any chocolate lover. Being stone ground, it has a slightly grainy texture which was not at all off-putting to me even though I wasn't used to it. Definitely try using it to make hot chocolate; as it makes an especially thick and decadent version.

Between the tour and browsing the shop my wife and I spent a couple of hours here and we had a great time. The staff is very nice and they are very proud of their product. A lot of pride goes into making their chocolate and it shows. If you are in the Boston area take the time to visit this awesome little chocolate factory.

Oh my god. The more you eat this chocolate the more obsessed you get. My roommate samples some in the shop and now I am addicted too! The unrefined texture is so raw and earthly yet one-of-a-kind and a must have for anyone passing by. Honestly I will have to stay away so I don't buy it all

Just great chocolate. They always have some free samples to try to help figure out what you want. They have tours, pretty similar to brewery tours, but for chocolate.

Sure, it does cost a bit more, but it's great stuff.

Great tour, much better than Hershey's Chocolate World. The chocolate is allergy-friendly (for most things, except nuts), the staff are friendly, and samples abound. Also it's pretty cheap. I highly recommend it. I have gone three times, and will likely bring friends again. Probably my top tourist attraction for Somerville.

Note that the chocolate only comes in dark, and does have a non-standard gritty texture, which may be off-putting for some people.

Everything is at ground level, though I can't promise that everything is large enough to conveniently accommodate a wheelchair.

My favorite is the chocolate covered cashews:) Addicting! A must hide from the husband. Also the various flavored disks are great for brownies and hot chocolate!

Didn't take the actual tour they offer, but we strolled around and tryed about 15 different flavors for free. The staff is extremely informative and friendly, and of course the chocolate is amazing. Lots of great little products you can buy too. Not really somewhere you can spend more than 45 minutes maximum (unless you take the full tour) but nonetheless a cool little place to check out.

The chocolate is delicious but different. I will only be buying their chocolate from now on. The factory tour was very informative, educational, and entertaining. We have had LOTS of chocolate samples throughout the tour and found the only thing our family did not like to much was their super dark bar of 98% cacao. Highly recommend this place!!

Taza chocolate is something special and the factory/shop is no joke. Sample loads of different chocolates, go on a tour, chat up the friendly folks who make amazing Chocolate. Local or just in town to visit, I highly suggest checking out Taza.

Took the tour and learned all about the traditional method used to make Taza chocolate. The staff is friendly, the chocolate delicious, and the options vast. Great stop on our trip to Boston!

Fantastic chocolate. I'm brimming with Somerville pride when I see that this stuff is being sold all over the country. It's not your average European-style smooth chocolate; this has grit and character. Perhaps it's an acquired taste/texture, but once you acquire it, you'll never look back. So many flavors to try.

Take the factory tour if you get the chance. It's wicked cheap and a lot of fun...and you'll get to sample plenty of chocolate!

I had such a nice time at the Taza Chocolate Factory Tour when previously on vacation in the area. Through the tour, I learned about each step that goes into producing Taza Chocolate, and had the chance to try so many different samples. It was great! Taza Stone Ground Chocolate is very unique, and I didn't realize they produced so many delicious products until visiting the Factory. They also have a store on site where I was able to grab some additional goodies before going. :-)

Taza offers a ~1 hour tour of their factory, history, and chocolate-making process that I would consider to be one of the best tours in all of Boston! Their super-knowledgeable staff guides guests through the sourcing of the cocoa beans all the way to the packaging of their products, answering just about every question I had before I could even ask. And of course, chocolate is offered multiple times throughout the tour (I think I tried eight different flavors)! Such a lovely experience!

I came for the factory tour, which was informative and also a lot of fun. The tour ends in the store, where there are also a lot of samples available for those who took the tour. Even though the tour is very inexpensive, we ended up making a number of purchases. I especially liked getting to try the dark chocolates from different terroirs.

Have tried their chocolate on several occasions around the city. I want to support a local business, but honestly the chocolate barely resembles what most people would call chocolate. It is very grainy. The taste it very bitter. I do appreciate their pursuit of a more pure chocolate, but it doesn't translate for me into something I'd like as a dessert.

We came here for a chocolate factory tour + tasting. We got it on Groupon for both of us for $10 (also includes a chocolate disk) instead of $8/head. Very interesting and learned all about how chocolate gets made at Taza. There's ample chocolate tasting all throughout the tour.

Any of the chocolate covered nuts are great. All of the chocolate are vegan and GF. All dark chocolates as well so there are low sugar options as well. You can try anything they sell at the store before buying. Well worth the visit! Note: parking will be a struggle so public transit or ride shares are probably your best bet.

Delicious chocolate with it's own distinct style. The chocolate is made in a traditional way which gives it a gritty texture. Not for everyone, but I personally love it. You can find Taza everywhere in the area, but it is worth visiting for the samples and the tour.

The factory store has big windows looking into the factory area, with descriptions of the chocolate making process. We enjoying seeing the tools and the process, and of course the generous samples.

While the factory and retail store is off the beaten path in a warehouse area in Somerville, it's a great way to experience something different in the Boston whether you're a native or visitor to the city, especially when it's cold outside!

The tour lasts about an hour with tastings throughout and at the end of the tour. One will learn about how the company started, history and how their different types of chocolate are made and where it comes from. Our guide was personable and upbeat. She spoke slowly, which is helpful for people where English isn't their primary language.

Tour is well worth the $8 price of admission. Due to FDA regulations, you don't get to go into the factory, but do get to see all the machinery and try lots of chocolate (there are probably 20+ different types available to sample). Our tour guide Jazz was extremely knowledgeable and personable. Definitely recommend.

Taza Chocolate Tours was our first stop in Boston and we were not disappointed. Excellent informative tour which taught us a lot about the history of Taza Chocolate and the progression of the business along with the manufacturing process. We love learning about a business that is making a product that is organic & sustainable, direct trade and using USDA Organic Ingredients. The stone ground method was also new and interesting. We loved the opportunity to sample the product also. Our guide was animated, interesting and passionate about the product. Parking is available but we had to call to find out where to park.

Didn't like the tour, didn't like the chocolate. Half of the tour is a video. You don't actually get to go inside the machine area. Chocolate was too gritty for me. People who buy groupons only get one chocolate sample to take home, not two like everyone else.
