Taymil Partners has the best staff in the industry. From leasing consultants, to regional managers, to the corporate office...each individual is extremely knowledgeable. They follow the lease agreement from start to finish, refunded my security deposit in a timely manner, and were professional each time I talked to them.

Taymil bought the building I lived in and the transition was less than smooth. Online payment took over two months to set up, I followed up multiple times on this, and no one had an answer. I had driven to the office (30 min away) to give them cash and they refused to take it, but had given no indication on any paperwork that this was not an acceptable form of payment (and again, online payment was not yet set up) and I was not paying a fee for a cashiers check.
Tenants were given no instructions on how to submit work orders. Often times, notices were delivered to our doors with less than 24hrs notice of entry. Tenants were given NO notice that the hallway floors would be painted-- not only was I woken up at 6:30am by workers whom I had to hobble around on steep stairs with a broken foot. Ongoing work caused obstacle upon obstacle to navigate around with crutches.
On multiple occasions I found my unit unlocked and when asked about this, they brushed it off saying I must have left it unlocked. Even though I was absolutely sure I locked it. One time they even told me I had left my door 'wide open' which is impossible considering I have a cat who would have escaped if I had left it open.
Upon move out they sent a laundry list of items that needed to be done in order to receive the entire security deposit. Many of these items were not in accordance with my original lease (from the previous management company) so I questioned them. I did everything on that list that I could yet I was charged $125 for an oven/stove cleaning charge.
With the previous management company, I had complained numerous times about being unable to use the stove because it always set off my smoke alarm (the kitchen has absolutely NO ventilation and only one window in that space is operable) Due to lack of ventilation in that room, the paint on the stove had peeled due to use over the years, and I had found it in much worse condition than I left it...I cleaned both the oven and the stove to the best of my ability. I even had photos of the stove upon my move in to prove that the damages were not done by my hand.
When I questioned this $125 charge, mind you this efficiency oven has a full retail value is $500 (not considering accumulated depreciation) I got no reply for 10 days, I then followed up and was told Connie was on vacation...another 10 days and no reply... I am still waiting...clearly they don't give a flying about anything except lining their pockets.
I would rather live in my car than rent from them ever again. STAY AWAY.
Definition of slumlords I signed a one year lease and once I moved out I received a bill for 2 months of rent for not notifying them 60 days prior which I actually did and turned a paper into their office but it supposedly got lost.
Rent was reasonable for the past couple of years. However, service orders don't get done until they become an emergency. With a $100/mo increase with no added amenities, I'm looking at moving somewhere else. You can do worse than them, but you can certainly do better.
Update: submitted a complaint to the housing department after property manager submitted a move out assessment separate from the one we were present for and almost a week after we had moved out. Verbal promises that I followed up on in writing were not kept, and after 4 years of requesting a new carpet due to stains/tears I take it as a personal insult that they accused me of damaging their 15+ year old carpets.
Would definitely give a negative star rating if possible. DON T rent from them if you have even the slightest minimal expectations of them taking care of the place. A pillar to part of the building was rotting from bugs eating it and maintenance was informed and they did nothing about it. Well, like anybody could ve predicted, one day that two story pillar fell. Apparently they didn t understand the idea that a pillar that big falling, when they were informed of it and did nothing about it, could ve killed or seriously injured someone when it came crashing down. They come up with a snow removal policy but don t enforce it at all. Parking is a joke, which they also don t enforce the assigned parking, so you can half expect someone to be parked in your designated parking spot when you come home. Maintenance here is absolutely horrid too. There were 3-4 foot weeds encroaching on about 10-15 parking spots and of course they didn t do anything about them until we informed them about them. Apparently the maintenance guy that drives in to the property Monday-Friday has a rare disorder that doesn t allow him to see massive amounts of weeds and realize that they re a problem when they re starting to take up half of your parking spot I guess. Anyways after informing them of this problem that was so blatant and obvious to anyone with half a brain, they shockingly did something about it. That victory was short lived, maintenance cut down the weeds on a Thursday AND DIDN'T PICK THEM UP UNTIL TUESDAY. So if you can count, that s SIX days where are parking spots were more than half taken up by fallen weeds that this guy was too lazy to get rid off. The Regional Office defended this action and said he must ve had a good reason/emergency and that s why he left them that way..... for 6 days.... apparently it s our responsibility to do this guy s job for him even though we pay rent. Like I said, their goal is to pocket your money and do the bare minimum, if that. Management probably gets yearly bonuses for keeping costs down, because they don t spend money on pretty much anything, and having the profits from rent money flowing in. Anyways the problems with this company are endless and I m sure all the previous negative reviews/stories are true. Don t subject yourself to living here.
**EDIT**
You do NOT have strong maintenance systems in place to ensure the properties are well-kept and taken care of, otherwise that pillar wouldn t have fallen and the parking lot would not be riddled with potholes like it currently is (which you should probably know looks horribly bad to a prospective tenant driving in). For the record, for anyone thinking of contacting the office regarding any issue you may have experienced, like the Taymil auto response suggests, don t, save yourself the aggravation. You re wasting your time as they stand by their ineptness to run an apartment complex. How do I know this? I have previously been in contact with both the Property Manager and the Regional Manager for my property A LOT and most times all they ever do is defend their ineptness and things get done at an absurdly slow pace, if at all. I ve taken pictures of all the safety hazards and property neglect so you really don t want to play this game.
I was responsible for sales in a 150 unit condominium development. Beginning with meeting prospective clients, directing tours of the property, explaining amenities, receiving down payments, filling out and distributing related paperwork and performing all necessary follow-up to ensure that a property was ready for occupancy. After occupancy I was responsible for successfully fielding complaints, critiques and concerns to the satisfaction of my clients. I was also the liaison for facilitating legal documents between the buyers' and the builder's legal counsel.
I know that my experience showing and selling property will transfer easily to showing and leasing property.
Where should I start. They made multiple financial errors on my lease. The apartment I moved into was described by management as "disgusting" when the last tennent left, yet they did not deep clean it before my move in day. When I asked for that to be remediated, they said they would and didn't. The maintenance guy damaged my property, and stole from others. There was the constant smell of smoke and must from my air ducts, the windows were old and essentially broken. They didn't close fully or lock. They didn't ask about my lease renewal, which every place I have ever rented from in my 20 years of renting has, and therefore I missed the 60-day window to tell them I was moving out. They didn't mention what the penalty was for that. Yet when I asked for my security deposit back, then I learned it was forfeited because I gave only 50 days notice. A drawn out fight ensued. They reviewed the multiple emails I sent regarding my lease, my notice, the bills I owed, and they decided to charge me only for 10 days, and I would receive a check for "a little over a thousand dollars" and then 2 weeks later received a check in the mail for about 830 dollars. They have no integrity, no organization, no follow through, no professionalism. My neighbors had many other complaints and moved out early as well. They didn't plow or shovel by the time they said they would, they threatened to tow anyone who didn't move their car so that the lot could be fully plowed, but there were plenty of people who didn't move their car and many spots didn't get cleared, there were no consequences. The fire alarms would go off in the middle of the night until the fire department arrived to turn them off, semi-regularly. They can't keep employees and are constantly trying to manage the property with temp. workers. It is horrible. Don't rent there. They are overpriced, and it is not worth any of the headache.
Update***
You ll see they responded. Important to note that they took almost year to do so, and suggested I reach out to the specific office if I have further complaints. But the building has been sold and is under new management. Thank god for those tenants. It s got to be better now.
After 3 months of trying to get my security deposit back and finally only receiving a fraction of the negotiated amount. The negotiation was brutal and rude and full of lip service and no action. This all started after I asked about the check s location and how I would receive it. Never being told it was not going to be sent. Only to find out after 2 months that apparently since I cancelled my lease at 57 days rather than the contracted 60 day minimum. (And not a single person who I dealt with reminding me of that policy), I wasn t going to get it. They said they d send me a check for a $1000 out of the $1750 it was supposed to be, which I was unsatisfied with but accepted out of frustration and exhaustion. When the check arrived it was for $800. Another lie, another broken promise, another scam.
STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY. They ll steal your money and destroy your personal property and gaslight you in exchange.
My niece lived in Brookline at the property that Taymil manages, while she attended Boston University. Great location-convenient-good zip code-wealthy area. They welcomed student housing with open arms. When COVID hit, Taymil worked through it, making sure their residents were satisfied. I d love to see the updates Taymil does to this property, since I believe they recently acquired it last year (per management).
DO NOT RENT FROM THEM! Had the worst experience with management and even up to the Executive Vice President of Taymil partners. I nieeded to break my lease, so I gave 60 day notice to vacate and was told if they got someone else in the unit I would be charged less than the three month maximum penalty as it states in the lease. I called them a month or so after we had moved out and spoke with Jennifer who told us no one had rerented yet. We told her to call us when it was rented so we would know how much we owe. She, nor the office ever contacted us nor did they attempt to. Finally in April (over 8 months since we moved out) we received a collection notice for 4 months rent plus a $250 cleaning fee and no refund of our $500 security deposit. When we called them it was after hours so we left a message for their answering service to call us back immediately. They never called back. We finally went in and spoke with Jennifer face to face who told us we should have received a letter. They clearly never sent it, because all my other mail has been forwarded to my new address. When I asked her why we were being charged 4 months she said because that's how long it took them to rent the apartment. I asked her why what she had told us and what was in the contract were different than what happened and she said she would have to reach out to the Vice President (Patrick Wolfgang) about getting the amount changed to the three months she had told us. Jennifer said she would call us the next day to let us know what he said. You guessed it. Next day, no phone call. She finally called the following day to tell me she could not get a hold of him. Surprised? HA. She told me should call me on Tuesday and let me know. I called her Tuesday and she told me he said no, we had to pay the 4 months, which I said we would not, and she offered me his contact information.
I left a voicemail and emailed Patrick Wolfgang and got a reply shortly after he would be away for another week (which makes me think Jennifer never even spoke with him) and an emergency contact email. This is great...he misspelled the name of his own company in the auto reply email name. Not only are they crooks, they are incompetent fools! I also called their general phone number and left a message too. Still no response.....STAY AWAY!
Horrible experience renting at Andover Place. They have a very bad mouse problem (mouse droppings on stove almost every week), long backlog of maintenance issues (nothing that I had pointed out initially had been taken care of after 4+ months). I will never recommend anyone even considering this place.
Prices are high for the quality of the apartment. Visible minimal maintenance over years of disrepair. Office is unresponsive to property needs. No regular building maintenance other than lawns and winter plowing. Best response is from Emergency Maintenance but regular maintenance of interior and exterior of buildings is shoddy at best. Amenities are closed due to Covid-19 but no reduction in rent has been offered. Simply the worst company I have ever experienced.
Horrible maintenance and unsafe/unsanitary upkeep of grounds. Septic tanks sometimes overflow onto the grass, picking up after your dog goes to the bathroom in the lawn isn't enforced. Several units are not upto code requirements by law and have lead paint in several buildings. Strict no smoking in the units is in the lease agreements but that is not enforced. Not allowed to use the basement storage facilities. They add new rules that are not part of the lease agreements and threaten with eviction if the new rules they make up aren't adhered to. Stay away at all costs for your best interest!
Kindly refund my 500 dollars deposit that I paid for an apartment that apparently never existed. I don't understand why you would refuse to refund my money which was to be deducted from my move in costs, yet I didn't move in to your apartment.
I'm in one of the Providence apartments, I've called numerous times over the last few months about tons of cigarette smoke coming into the room and noisy neighbors. They have promised to fix these issues many times but have made no improvements whatsoever. The building is nice enough but don't rent from them if you like clean air.
I would not recommend any properties being managed by Taymil. They manage Yarmouth Place, and I have yet to meet a single resident who is happy living here and does not think this location is overpriced. They are unable to enforce their own rules. They promise parking, but parking rules are not enforced, so random visitors may park anywhere they want, and there is not enough parking spaces to begin with. We have a door that has been broken since before winter. We immediately placed a work order. It is now mid-April and the door is still broken. The office workers are very nice, but no one in the there has the ability to actually help you with your problems. All they seem to be able to do is empathize with your problems and bump it up to someone else to handle.
The experience has been terrible. From the start, they requested us to PAY FIRST RENT AND DEPOSIT IN ORDER TO GET THE KEYS. We paid, we got the contract signed and we got the keys. It seemed all good, but 4 months after, they started to ask of for the receipt of this first payment without which we wouldn't have gotten they keys. Saying that we'd have to pay that again (we couldn't find the receipt because it was moneygram money orders). And then after that, we send another check through mail, for september rend on august 30. They sent us a 14 DAY NOTICE TO QUIT, in order to evict us from non-payment of september rent. Just wend to the bank and got POOF that the check has been endorsed on TAYMILL's name and deposited on September 06. Tried to call the office, but nobody ever picks up, or responds emails. You're sent to a pool of callcenter operators that can't help with nothing but to write your name down and pass along, done it before and you'll never get called. My life has been a nightmare with these people and their lack or organization (or honesty).
There was possibly one nice secretary in that whole building. One time I called the secretary of my realtor agent and she replied "Do you read the website? Your agent is not here, she is never here on Mondays, you should know that." and I told her I'm sorry I had no idea, and she goes "Next time you call, check the website before calling." Excuse me. Ma'am, you are HER SECRETARY... It is not MY job to figure out when my agent is in, that is YOUR JOB to tell me. Also, they never contacted us that our agent was let go. And our agent was supposed to be the one we call for emergencies or whenever we need maintenance. Our plumbing was shot, the shower was either scolding or freezing. If you ever need help, stick out your apt issues wait for the maintenance men to come by, they are WAY more helpful than anyone at this company will ever be. Never renting from them again...
Ode to Paula ( refused to offer last name) Ashland, MA Chestnut Place a Taymil Property
So I'm not one for reviews because frankly I don't have the time. But this experience is worth a little of my time.
Ms. Paula, you may not know this but your demeanor on the phone is not only unbecoming of a customer service employee but inexcusable and concerning. Your inability to discuss rationally with an admittedly frustrated future tenant is confusing given the large amount of tenants you manage daily.
Ms. Paula, you may not understand that the way in which you spoke to me is unprofessional and if you felt offended in anyway by my argument regarding the disorganization of your office it was clear you were unable to remain professional in communicating that by your inability to even offer the slightest validation to the disorganization I mentioned.
Ms.Paula, how is it that one of your employees says I have the apartment and the other say I've not been approved? My confusion lies with the FACT that not only did you not communicate with Jennifer regarding my file, not only did I never receive a call back or email stating the steps in the process, not only when I tried to explain this to you, you became rude and defensive but NOW you want more money to move into your complex? I decline.
Furthermore, I spoke to you last week and you stated if I brought in the letter and it was reviewed by management and found suitable I would need to pay first and security totaling $3110 (key fee included) that your manager would wave last month rent. It is interesting to me that during that conversation you didn't mention $500 for "security deposit" and so again we find your office to be disorganized. One hand doesn't know what the other is doing sadly. As you admitted "I don't know what Jennifer does, she works on Saturdays and Sundays".
I can only imagine how others who live there must feel. Those who may not have a voice or understand what your behavior really displays. As a professional black, female, disabled Army veteran with a MBA and is CEO of her own company, ill tell you what it displays... Taymil employees have poor training, poor leadership, poor insight and most of all poor judgment.
I will be reporting Taymil Properties and Paula at Chestnut Place to the Attorney General, Mass Housing, Ashland Housing Authority and ensuring people are aware of her actions and your obvious dismissal of responsibility as the property owners.
Your rating is under 2 stars for crying out loud!!! Do something about it!!!
