By far the best vegan place in Calgary amazing food good prices great service by the owner who is adorable. Tried the wonton, wraps and rice chicken n beef combo along with the house pho. AMAZING cannot wait to try everything else on the menu. Great job guys ul are perfect don't change a thing

This is my favorite vegan restaurant in the whole city of Calgary!! The service is wonderful, and the food is beyond compare. The fake meats that they serve are so tasty and fulfilling and I will NEVER turn down their house special soup. Everything tastes very fresh and the small spot is a charming little place!!

Our experience was absolutely delightful, from the greeting at the door to the owner of this family restaurant. The experience was not rushed and we were updated as we waited.

When we received our Pho, a basil curry dish , and a peanut Thai dish, it was cooked perfectly, tasted amazing, and was plentiful.

This restaurant is very reasonably priced, and due to the good food It was so busy when we arrived they turned away a half a dozen people.

First time eating here and had not realised they were plant based until we walked in. No matter because we had seen the highly rated reviews so were naturally curious. To put it simply, it blew our minds! Complete game changer for us. I wish I had taken pictures so I could have shared how fresh and presentable the meals were. This place will satisfy your cravings even if you don't usually go for vegan. Thoroughly impressed!

Amazing flavours, and a fantastic selection of vegetarian options. I enjoy this place so much, even though my stomach doesn't always agree.

Just incredible. The Paradise Rolls were great, the Banh Xeo absolutely delicious and homemade tofu in the Pad Thai is why I'll definitely be back. The tamarind in the smoothies balanced out the sweetness perfectly. I need to come back and try everything else!

Hands down my favourite restaurant in Calgary. Just exceptional. Even non-vegetarians will love it. I cannot say enough good things about this place. On every level - taste, presentation, freshness, it hits it out of the park. If you have not checked it out, I recommend that you do. You will not be dissapointed.

I had no idea this place even existed it s a small family owned business. Not too much seating but you can always grab take out. The mango salad was to die for I ve been twice and so far have not been disappointed.

We were surprised a vegan restaurant could have such great tastes. Six tables in downtown Calgary with very friendly attentive staff. It's worth the parking hassle.

We were looking for something new/vegetarian in Calgary and saw the ratings and comments for Tamarind, so we decided to check it out. What a great decision. This is a fully vegan, family owned restaurant, that makes most of their own ingredients and all sauces. The house made tofu is to die for.

We spoke with the owner, a very sweet lady, who told us her vision is to make good clean food, that nourishes the body. That is precisely what we were looking for and the food is definitely that.

I've been going here for years and this place is amazing even if you're not vegan! The spring rolls and vermicelli bowls are always excellent. The papaya salad is super fresh. All their tofu is house made and delicious as well.

Just had the tofu sate noodle soup... very delicious. Broth is clean and flavorful.

Lovely little place with a delicious all Vegan menu. When you taste it, it's hard to believe all of it is plant based but it sure is. Will definitely be back!

Note: Only reason I gave it a 4 star is due to the space (very limited) and the place could be "fixed up" a bit as it is definitely showing its age.

One of the best places I've eaten hands down. I ate so much food there I can't remember even how to describe everything. Try ANYTHING. Original and inspiring. Super Vegan friendly but you don't need to be vegan to enjoy the tasty morsels here.

Great vegan Vietnamese restaurant in Calgary! Nice to see a restaurant dedicated to plant based eating. I wish they had delivery, but after speaking to the server, he said that because it's a small restaurant operation, it's hard for them to have a dedicated delivery person. They also aren't participating in Skip or Door Dash which is a bummer. I had the Laksa which was nice. The broth was a little thinner than what I'm used to but it's still tasty. Wasn't a fan of the "shrimp", but otherwise, the soup was good and a really good portion size. Will definitely come back the next time I'm in Calgary.

We have been here twice. Another vegan friendly restaurant where the tofu meat substitutes will satisfy everyone another must try. Back again, made it here just before supper rush. Always excited to eat here everything is vegan and tasty.

I m a little obsessed with Tamarind these days. It s honestly the best Vietnamese place in Calgary. We ve taken a few non-vegan friends here before Covid and they all loved it. Their tofu is outstanding. Portion size is awesome and such great value. I find myself craving Tamarind again every time we eat here and I m totally ok with that!! So many great dishes to chose from.

I have never been able to have pad thai due to severe allergies. I had it today! And it was spectacular! Sweet and comforting. And the portion was large enough for me to have leftovers! I'll be back for sure!

Tamarind has the most amazing soup you've ever tasted, whether you're vegetarian or not. Tiny place, family run. Excellent service.

Absolute gem of a family-run restaurant. Server made a fantastic recommendation. Amazing food. Will be back here as soon as possible for my next meal. Sad/happy to share this secret, but make sure you get there early, as tables fill up quickly!

I ve been frequenting Tamarind for years. Love it because - 1, it s vegan, 2, it s clean and healthy, 3, it s incredibly delicious. It s also super affordable. Previously, I would have given 4 stars because their old location wasn t the best atmosphere. However, I was blown away when I went to their new location after a bit of a hiatus. I can t wait for them to be fully open again. We will be supporting these guys as much as possible.

So yummy! I ordered the mock beef vermicelli with spring rolls as take out. It was perfectly seasoned and really fresh. Felt like an added bonus that it s completely plant based!

Hands down the best tofu I've ever had, and knowing they make it from scratch, it's no surprise why! The food was delicious and the service was fast and friendly. Overall great experience, and would definitely recommend.

I order lemongrass tofu vermicelli (bun) minus the vermicelli to go and I want it like a salad so I opt-out the vermicelli but when I open it, it doesn't look like there's the tofu in it. Does the lemongrass tofu meant it as the seasoning or does it actually supposed to come with it? Kinda bummed out since the tofu is what I was waiting for

Visited Tamarind for the first time this evening and wow, what great food. Authentic, fresh, and super generous portions. Service was friendly and our server was very knowledgable. The place is a bit small, but that sort of thing doesn't bother me. The cozier, the better. Cannot recommend enough!

Friendly staff and amazing food! We had no idea this was a vegan restaurant when we chose it. The mock beef fooled us.

Vegan heaven. Found a good review for this on Happy Cow and so stoked we went. This is the BEST pho I have ever had, the taste is incredible and it s a super friendly, loaded portion for a great price around 14 bucks.
I m going again for lunch tomorrow whilst I m the city on a short trip.
I asked for spicy so they put satay in mine which I think was even more delicious and aromatic. I m not usually a fan of mock meats but it works so well and the fried tofu is incredible.

This all vegan restaurant has the best food in town. Although it's short on seating, it's always cozy with good presentation

The reviews certainly don't lie, this place is amazing! Small and cozy with super friendly service and absolutely amazing food. Large reasonable priced portions. Had the curry soup and the veggie pad thai tonight and they both blew me away.... delicious!

Best Vietnamese restaurant in the City, hands down. Very calm, unpretentious interior, family owned, food is always out quickly, with consistent meal quality, and fairly priced. Most of all, I'm glad Tamarind decided to make the switch to fully vegan. I hope this is a trend that picks up throughout the city. For improvement - it would be nice to see some of the faux meats removed; vegan food stands on it's own and doesn't need to imitate the texture of meat. But still, this is one of my top comfort food stops in the city.

Lacking a star because it s such a small place it s not good for a group bigger than 4. Also finding parking sucked. However the food was delicious, and the service was friendly and speedy. Prices were decent. Definitely would return as a date or with friends!! Or even by myself haha.

This is one of the best tasting pho and vermicelli in Calgary. I spoke to the owner/chef and they make real soup base (most places use powdered salt stuff). Mango salad also very good.

Not much keto on the menu, but they accommodated my restrictive diet and made me the best Vietnamese dish I have ever had.

Super friendly service, our meal was good - the three dishes we ordered (eggplant with brown rice, mock beef and crispy noodles, and a spicy tofu with rice noodles) all had nice flavour. Very limited seating, reservations recommended. We did notice all our dishes had the same base vegetables (carrots, celery, mushrooms) and the variety was in the sauce, carb and protein. Family friendly.

I dig the family business thing. Taste is good (like another reviewer said - not disappointing for a meat eater). If you're larger than a group of four, you might want to see if they offer take out.

It's a close tie between Tamarind and Hearts Choices for my favourite vegan restaurant in Calgary. But Tamarind's bang for your buck pushes them just slightly over the edge. You can get a huge serving of some of the most delicious and flavourful soup you've ever had for $11-13. I recently got to check out their new location and it is a beautiful space, I was told they even have a meditation area (which due to COVID was unfortunately unaccessible).

I ate the Lak-sa soup almost exclusively for the first year, but my current favourite is the Sate Pho Soup, my mouth is watering just thinking about it now. And if you're looking for an appetizer, you definitely need to try the paradise rolls. Best salad rolls I've ever had. OH and that red-glazed Tofu is by far the most delicious Tofu I've ever had.

Restaurants are going through tough times right now and these guys moved into a new location right before the pandemic hit, so I highly encourage everyone to support Tamarind and make sure this amazing food stays around in Calgary. There are only a few restaurants in Calgary that I would be generally sad about losing and Tamarind is one of them.

I always really enjoy the food here! All dishes are fully vegan, which is great as most Vietnamese/Thai places advertise 'vegetarian' but upon inquiry indicate that they use fish sauce in almost every dish.
This place is very small and not fancy but the staff are friendly and food is delicious!!
Crepes. Pad Thai, Paradise Rolls and Sizzling rice come to mind as favourites but haven't even tried the soups yet. They also make their own tofu and it's excellent! Prices and serving sizes are normal/average for a Vietnamese restaurant. Parking is free after 6:00.

Very good vegan restaurant. We took our vegan friend there and while we are meat-eaters we all left very satisfied with the food. Cuisine is original and price is fair. Great service as well
