I like going here as the alternative to bourbon and Baker because it s cheaper. That being said, the quality is not as high. The definitely rely on the microwave. At least for the cheese dip. The burger was good but not up to par with Harry s. Again, sacrifice flavor for cheaper. The beer is good and the staff is friendly. I would go back for sure.

Good staff. The table we sat at was by the kitchen so it sucked. The burgers we had were so-so. Not worth the price. I found out I was not a micro brew person. I did not like the selections of beer. And at $2 per sample it also was a waste of money.

Enjoyed a wonderful lunch with a few tasty IPAS on the roof. Had the fish and chips. Was nice thick slices of bread cod. Seasoned fries and coleslaw with jalapeno pepper. Was not as spicy as the name would lead you to believe. (Spicey might of had me getting more tasty beer lol). First time on the roof. Was a nice day for it enjoyed the views. Would go back again for sure. A little on the pricey side but good food!

One word: POUTINE!!!!!!

One word: POUTINE!!!!!!

My first exposure to poutine was here at the tap house. I fell in love. After that I have ordered it whenever I see it on a menu. However, other places rarely come close to the wonderfulness of the Tap House Poutine, even throughout a Canadian road trip! I think the Tap House version is better than 2 very well-known poutine places in Canada (Smokes Poutinerie in London and La Banquise in Montreal). How lucky to have this dish in Manhattan!!!!!

hubby and i went here last night to celebrate our anniversary. i'm vegan, so finding a restaurant that has options can be quite tricky. i went with the "grain bowl" and you guys, it is one of the best things i have EVER eaten!! it is going in my rotation of "eat out" meals for SURE! so impressed.

So bummed I discovered this place during my last year in Manhattan. I first tried Tallgrass with a friend for lunch. The rooftop is a relaxing dining experience when the weather is nice. I've gone here so many times with my family and friends. My favorite is the meatloaf with mashed potatoes and balsamic brussels sprouts. The Salmon BLT is also very tasty. My significant other and I had the chorizo crab dip twice and while it was one of the most interesting and tasty dips we've ever had, both time that we had it we experienced mild stomach pain. Neither of us have experienced that from any other foods and when we took our family here and they tried the dip, they did not have any stomach problems. The waiting area is a bit cramped and when it got busy people had to stand around one of the smaller tables we were sitting at. Other than the our experiences with the dip and the waiting area, a great restaurant and nice place to eat after a game or for date night

Great beer and food (comes out quick!), love the bar staff, and great rooftop for Spring, Summer, & Fall! Great for bigger groups and events. They host great events, Science on Tap, Trivia, and Live Music.

Very nice food, worthy to try again. Not too many restaurants here at Manhattan have house beer, and this is one. It also be a good feeling sitting one the top floor and have delicious food to eat. Almost can see the KS hill.

Pretty Good downtown Manhattan place to grab a beer and food.

Typical American Fare, a lot of food for the price.

For a taphouse you would expect a larger selection of beers, or a more frequent rotation.

Rooftop patio is nice in the summer.

Give it a try after some of the smaller restaurants in Manhattan.

Upgraded from 3 stars to 4 stars.
Heard about this place changed the kitchen supply chain using another restaurant in town. Food is a significant improvement and beer quality stay the same. I appreciate their keep bringing new beer selections all the time, but also suspect why after all tis time there are no signature item sticks? Food items are mostly bar-food. Meatloaf is still great. Vegetarian and pasta items can be ignored. You can find much better places in town for those.

2017 Original Review

Meatloaf and Bangers and Mash are still good, but you can probably skip the steak, chicken and fish. Crab & Chorizo Dip and Pretzel Sticks are popular appetizers, but they are $10 a piece.

Really like to see this place improves and I would love to revise my review in the near future.
Check out my photos for their food items.

Very cool local brewery. Furniture made out of original wood from building. Food is great, I have had the buffalo chicken wrap and the cuban. Tallgrass brewed on site. Great place for adult professional to hang with friends, yet still good for families too.

Great food for the most part, best beer, service is hit or miss. Bangers and mash in particular is phenomenal, was hoping fish and chips would be as good but batter is wrong consistency and very bland. The need to put corn in everything is a little odd.

So the first few times I went to Tallgrass I was unimpressed. I think it's important to note I have always been at lunch time. Here recently though I have really enjoyed both the food and the wait staff and would definitely recommend it. Last time I had the fish and chips and it was excellent, I'm a big Cole slaw fan and their jalapeno cole slaw was really good and then their fries are always really good and I eat way too many of them.

Ate out on their balcony. Food was good. Service was good. Music was a little loud at first, we had to yell for awhile just to have a conversation. It was early evening, even with the umbrellas the sun was a bit much. Still enjoyed it.

Overall, I really like Tap House. Good entrees, good beer, pretty good wait staff. In the summer, the roof top bar is one of my favorite places to eat in Manhattan. However, I hate whatever the fries are seasoned with, which is the sole reason I'm taking a star.
