Greetings,

Greetings,
I'm not the one who write reviews at the drop of a hat. Having said that it doesn't mean,I don't. I do but rarely and only for the events that touches my soul deep enough. The experience we had at Umaid Bhawan Palace is one of those rare occasions where the gesture, the hospitality, the care and effort moves you to the core and fills you up with enormous joy.
Like every year, I was sorting out one of the Taj properties to celebrate our wedding anniversary, as a surprise for my wife & 3 yrs old daughter, when it struck me that what could be more mesmerizing than the beauty, grandeur & history which Umaid Bhawan presents you with.
It started with the courteous and delightful communication with Mr. Akshay Sharma, the reservation manager & Mr. Bharat Tandon, the duty manager, who very patiently and meticulously responded to all my queries with emails running back & forth as i was on the move abroad. They assured me of the very best and the most memorable of moments during our stay at the Palace and that's what we got the moment we entered Umaid Bhawan. It was an absolute wonder, the way we were received, greeted & welcomed at the entrance of the Palace and so warmly escorted to our extremely beautiful palace room, which by the way was upgraded as a heartening gesture for the auspicious occasion of our wedding anniversary by Mr. Bharat Tandon.
Such was the hospitality at Umaid Bhawan that we didn't have the slightest idea that it was just the beginning of what turned out to be one of the most cherishable stays we have ever had. Everyone was so warm, welcoming and always there for us, to make us feel very special, be it Mr Bharat, Akshat, Sabitri at the reception or Karan, Punit at the restaurant and the entire team of Taj Umaid Bhawan, some names we can recall and some we can't but credit to every single staff of Umaid Bhawan.
It was an evening to remember, sitting outside the Pillars restaurant being taken care of by Mr. Virendra bhatt, the f&b manager, who presented us with a delicious dinner for our anniversary celebration.
Words wouldn't suffice to describe the mesmerizing moments we lived & the memories we created during our stay but like a sweet melody it will keep humming in our hearts for a long time to come..
With love & regards,
Dr Rajbir Dhillon

Umaid Bhavan hotel is in the list of top 10 hotels in the world.
It is build by Maharaja Umaid Singh in 1929. It can be seen from a far distance as it is situated on a small hillock in the mid of Jodhpur city, which give it an awesome look. It looks somewhat like Tajamahal and it's look gives a feel of beautiful palace of King.
In earlier times it was fully owned by Maharaja Gajsingh the son of Umaid singh but now it has been devided into three parts. In one part it has the private residence to the royal family of Gajsingh and another part which is the central and major portion of the palace is converted into hotel which is run by Taj group of hotels . And a small portion of it is made open to the visitors as museum. If you want access to the whole palace you need to book a room which cost approx. 30,000/day.
It is a Great Architectural piece worth to visit

Built between 1928 and 1943, Umaid Bhawan Palace is a magnificent piece of Rajasthan s heritage, and a symbol of new Jodhpur. Home of the erstwhile Jodhpur royal family and currently the world s sixth-largest private residence, the palace has one thing in common with the iconic Taj Mahal at Agra the palm court marble used in its construction.

Perched on Chittar Hill, the highest point in Jodhpur, Umaid Bhawan Palace inspires with exotic views of the historical Blue City, vast sand dunes, and intimidating Mehrangarh Fort. The palace is conveniently located 20 minutes from the airport, close to the main shopping areas, and the Balsamand and Kalyana lakes.

The last of the great palaces of India, the property houses a family museum, as well as the resplendent Umaid Bhawan Palace. Set amidst 26 acres of lush gardens, with dancing peacocks and a subterranean Zodiac Pool, the luxury five-star Taj heritage hotel offers 64 utterly breathtaking Art Deco- style rooms and suites.

Umaid bhawan palace is overhyped, there is nothing much to see. Very small part of the palace is open for the visitors to see. We do not get to know much about the Rathore rulers by visiting the museum. The only point of attraction was the Vintage car display museum.
