I brought my Mom to the ER because she was having pain in her back. We went back to ER 3 times in one weekend. The doctors kept sending her home. I said no. She needs more test done. Each time we waited was over 6 hours. She was in so much pain. She had a bad heart also. The hospital gave her morphine, valium and norco in 2 days. Tests came back hours later and it read she had fluid in her lungs. She was admitted on that Monday evening. She died that Monday night. I believe my mom died from over medication. I also believe long wait cause her death. I blame the hospital for my Mom's death. I can't afford to take it further, so buried her. I know now my Mom is in Heaven, pain no more.

Last October I went I wasn't feeling good they admitted me in due to kidney infection, next day a nurse came in claiming to give me something to slow my heart rate down what she didn't check was that the previous day a nurse had given me that same stuff in IV but not so much and my body reacted bad. the nurse gave me way to much and ignored the fact that I told her she shouldn't have done that and that I needed a doctor now. she walks out the room next thing I hear them laughing in the hallway as I'm in pain and my body started shutting down. then a bunch of nurses are rushing to my room grabbing my stuff to rush me to ICU where they shock my heart 5 times I'm hearing and feeling everything they say call her mom she's not gunna make it that morning I was put in a coma and on life support when I woke up 3 weeks later my left foot was Black my toes where severely damage due to them not paying attention I got a blood clot and they didn't know I was there for months I couldn't walk or talk when I woke up an had to go to rehabilitation after hospital due to there neglecte I died a few time I lost a toe because of it. My shoulder was dislocated they didn't know for weeks my life is forever changed due to there sloppy staff who ignored my signs and now I just have to except what happen I've reported her multiple times and they haven't done a damn thing about it also some nurses are beyond rude they killed my father 2 years ago and was working on me they need to be held accountable for putting ppls lives at risk I have contacted hospital and currently waiting for someone to contact me now I have fear anytime I need to go there to get or hospital ppl be aware and be your own advocate cause they don't give a damn about ppls life I do give Dr sodi his props he is the one that came in and saved my life after his staff ruined it my toe will never grow back and I my need another amputation also staff stole my belongings my wallet money Id gold chain worth 1500 my shoes yet they gave me my phone and glasses how does the other stuff come up missing. I do not trust sutter after what I went thru they haven't even tried to compensate me for stolen property or acknowledge the fact they messed up they sure do stick together in ruining people's lives

Traveled over 100 miles for my husband's lobectomy. Surgery was postponed after my husband had been checked in and prepped for it. They had no beds for him so he laid in the surgery prep room from 10 am to 5pm. It costs 15.00 per day to park in the parking garage. The hospital has no cafeteria for visitors to eat at. Just a few places that sell premade cold sandwiches, salads and a few other cold things or soup. Not impressed

Only reason i dont give a 5 star is because i don't know what happen that they end up getting me numb from my neck down at first they put the epidural and everything went fine but I end up having a C section so I believe it was a nurse that put more epidural so next thing I know I could barely breath or pass saliva I couldn't stay awake for my first baby girl birth it was scary since I didn't had nobody from my family there I had dizziness and vomiting after wich i didn't had any of those symptoms with my first C Section i honestly thought i wasn't gonna wake up! Im not the kinda person that complaints but I hope this doesn't happen to another momma.. And my mistake was not to ask what had happen.. I guess I just wanted to enjoy my baby girl and I was just glad we were both ok.. but I was disappointed too I couldn't believe I went thru that ..

A living nightmare. If you are mentally ill, do NOT come to their ER. I was treated lower than an animal. Because they were so concerned about helping me. Wink wink wink.

Yet, released me with absolutely NO plan to help myself. Here are some numbers, go call them. Sorry we violatedd your CIVIL RIGHTS. I was at an all time low after I left. I'm still reeling about what they did to me.

High five, monsterss! Thanks for absolutely nothing.

Update:

Their so called response was fake. What a surprise. They never even acknowledged my email, let alone provide any response. Shocked!! Must be a great gig to be a Google review troll.

Although the staff was more than friendly, discreet, and overall the best, I didn't really get treated for what I went in for. I was having severe panic attacks and discovered I have anxiety but the medication provided did not help at all.

I went to the ER in bad pelvic pain. Dr. HASTINGS ...

I went to the ER in bad pelvic pain. Dr. HASTINGS was unfortunately the doctor assigned to "assess" me. IT WASN'T SO MUCH HIM ASSESSING ME AS IT WAS HIM JUST TELLING ME WHAT IM FEELING WITHOUT EVEN ASKING ME QUESTIONS. He must be quite the doctor if I just by looking at where pain is he is sure of a diagnosis! I have never met a more unprofessional and incorrect doctor! He walks in and asks me why I am there, I show him where the pain is: on the left side of my lower stomach to my pelvic bone and he tells me it's probably menstrual cramps. (Really? Cause I didn't think of that when I drove all the way down to the hospital for pain I have once a month! Do all of us women get the same ridiculous diagnosis whenever we have pain in that area? Does it make a Dr's job easier just to put the blame on Aunt Flow? I'm sure if anyone is an expert on menstrual pain: it would be us!.) Then follows to say my vitals came back normal so it's probably nothing and I should have went to see my doctor. I explain to him I know what cramps feels like and this was completely different, that it's a stabbing pain on my side, not my uterus. He asks if I took medicine, I respond with "Yes I took ibuprofen that seemed to help" He says "Okay then...." and gives me a look of confusion. I explained to him that I do not want to take painkillers to mask this pain without knowing the underlining cause. (You think that would have been the doctors thoughts.) He says "Well there's nothing on that side of the body that can cause too much damage so I wouldn't worry." (Too much damage? Is this guy a joke...) He asks what my concern is and as I start to answer as his phone rings... he answers, walks out of the room and completely cuts me off. I waited 5 minutes for him to come back in or for someone to explain why he just walked out abruptly and nothing. I walk out of this hospital to go elsewhere. (PS it was a kidney stone)

I hope this administration takes into account the complete ignorant people they have given the power to give diagnosis. People's health and bodies are not something that should be quickly "scanned" over in minutes so it makes this hospital or its doctors jobs "easier".

So pleaseeeeeee take my advice and avoid this hospital if possible. Take your health (and money because we know it isn't cheap) some place where you can receive the correct diagnosis along with some respect.

It was terrible! This is the first time writing a review for something and it is because of how much it upset me! I simply went in to see my new little brother but one nurse in the NICU treated me, 19, like a list 5 year old. She spoke to me in a demeaning tone, making me feel embarrassed and uncomfortable in front of every other person in the room. I will not recommend this place for the maternity ward. She was just too rude to be considered human!

ER room service was horrible today!
30 minutes wait for urine lab work turn into over 3hrs because the nurse didn't make sure it got delivered to the lab. After asking to check on it she stated that she did. I was really disappointed because no one act like they care.

Absolutely terrible. The staff don't care about you and the place looks like a train wreck. It was literally faster for me to drive down to San Jose and go through the ER at Good Samaritan (triage, wait, see a doc, and be discharged) than it was to just see a triage nurse at Sutter General. Completely unacceptable.

A true Hero,

A true Hero,
My dad was diagnosed with a very big Aortic Aneurysm in his abdomen. He was then taken to DMC hospital in Modesto, CA. Surgeon recommended due to the size and location of AAA the only way to fix is to cut him open. My dad was scheduled to have surgery on 8/20/2020 at 10am. My family and I were in extense fear due to my dad's age and wellbeing. But miracle happened, the day of the surgery we were highly recommended to contact Dr. Brian Park at Sutter General hospital in Sacramento by very well skilled interventional radiologist Dr. Ahmadi. I spoke with Dr. Park at 8:30am the day of my dad's surgery. He asked me three simple general questions. He told me with confidence that he can place a stent and avoid having dad to undergo a brutal surgery. I immediately called DMC hospital and cancelled dad's surgery which was going to happen in 30 minutes. Dr. Park took the full responsibility of making all the necessary arrangements and phone calls to transfer my dad to Sutter General Hospital in a timely manner knowing of my dads serious illness. I was impressed by how quickly my dad was picked up and arrived in hospital in Dr. Park's safe hands. The next morning on 8/21/2020, Dr. Park performed a very successfull and yet very intense case by placing stent and fixing a massive aneurysm. My dad went to recovery room and will come home shortly.

I would like to take a moment to recognize a true hero Dr. Brian Park who went above and beyond to save my dad's life. Your kindness, sincere caring, concern, compassionate attention and professional care made a huge difference. They are not enough words for me and my family to express our appreciation.
I admire you Dr. Park for your commitment and excellent care to my dad and to all of those patients and families who you touch every day. Thank you for giving my dad his life back.

You are truly a lifesaver!

Forever grateful,
Nardin Reihan

So I went to Sutter for dialysis as I have moved h...

So I went to Sutter for dialysis as I have moved here from out of state. While I am waiting on my doctor to set up a dialysis clinic I'm directed to go to Sutter as needed for dialysis. While there awaiting dialysis the black security guard in the emergency room that has dread locks all piled up on his head threatened to have me arrested for "refusing to leave" because he just kind of assumed I must be homeless and was just hanging out. I'm a patient, mind you, had just been called to the back to have labs drawn and had come back to sit in the ER lobby. I explained I was a patient, he didn't want to listen and didn't want to check, so I said hey no problem, I can leave and risk my life at your command even though you're not medical staff and you're wrong about me not being a patient. The outcome of that is the typical California response when someone screws up - can't go into much detail as the result is still being adjudicated.

A different time I was admitted because Sutter decided they wanted to be the ones to set up my dialysis clinic, even though I already said no, my doctor is doing that. They insisted. I spent a grand total of over a month there. They still couldn't get the job done, even though most of that month was spent waiting on one single piece of paper. When I expressed a desire to leave AMA, they called the psych team on me. Psych cleared me and looked at the doctors like "You can't use psych to punish people who don't do as you dictate" and left. So since they couldn't punish me for desiring to leave AMA (but not doing so), they withheld all of my medications until I either complied or left. I left, and that outcome of that event is also being adjudicated still.

It's not all bad, though. They did save my life once. They fixed an arterial surgery that a doctor elsewhere botched. However, they once again didn't want to let me go home after an appropriate time frame so I again had to walk out AMA eventually.

They have a real problem knowing when to let people go home. Either they want you to go home under threat of arrest way, way too early (before you even get treated), or they never want to let you go home ever.

Horrible hospital full of abrasive, unprofessional, dictator like people.

When I walked into my grandmothers room it was gross. They had not cleanded and it was messy. Through her stay their were a few great nurses and aids and a few awful ones. More bad than good. They hardly checked on her because I was their and assumed I would do everything. The place is a maze to get through. Everything about the place is awful.

Super frustrated & annoyed. I ve been getting harassed & threatened by one of their employees, One of their general managers at that who I ve asked continuously to leave me alone & who has my address . I ve had absolutely no help from anyone on this, the last person I tried talking too hung up on me. I ve tried getting in touch with Human Resources or anyone else who can help and nothing , on their website they have absolutely no way for you to choose to be able to talk to H&R or people who can help.
Unbelievable how they allow this.

I'm sorry but I strongly disagree with the following reviews. The nurses are on "automatic pilot". The WORST was Sally the charge nurse on the 5th floor !!!!!! She was rude, disrespectful, unprofessional actually made a patient CRY because of her attitude. Being an EMT in a different county I can assure you, I've seen much better

My mother-in-law was reading a 186 systolic for he...

My mother-in-law was reading a 186 systolic for her blood pressure and was really dizzy so I took her into the emergency at 4 AM. They had a thorough workup which included an X-ray and two different kinds of CT scans. At the end of it all (around noon), the doctor gave the option to be admitted to do additional testing or to go home under strict supervision and logging with instruction to come back immediately if there were any problems. These doctors and nurses were very good to us. My mom was prescribed her medications and then we went home because my mother hates being the hospital. Soon after she fainted on the floor, was barely conscious and breathing, and was cold to the touch. My wife asked where she was and she thought she was in her bedroom but she was actually lying in the kitchen. I called 911, the paramedics came, and we followed to the emergency. We saw the doctor once in the emergency clinic, they ordered a CT scan only to have it canceled because these tests were already done in the morning (which I had told the doctor previously but he refused to listen). Since the scan was canceled, we weren't sure what was being done. We asked many nurses but none of them could give us an answer. Was there going to be another test? Would my mother be admitted? Are we waiting on something? We had no idea and my mother sat there. She asked for water and she didn't get anything. Since we had been there for several hours without nothing done, we wanted to leave to take her to a different hospital. We asked the nurses if we could leave and we were told: "You're not prisoners here, you can leave whenever you want" and they even resorted to trying to shove my wife out the door. We got a hold of management, discussed potentially suing for malpractice, and explained the situation. Management had some kind of meeting thereafter and I took my wife home because she was so infuriated. I came back and was finally able to get my mom admitted. However, nobody could see her until the next morning. My mother-in-law was reluctant because nothing had been done except a blood test that I had to persuade out of a nurse (a test which I still don't know the results for). However, I was able to persuade my mother as well. I wanted to at least get additional tests done. The nurses in the emergency clinic were horrible and the doctor was negligent. During the admission process, we had her assigned a new nurse and a new doctor which were excellent. She had the additional tests done, including an MRI, echo, and stress test, and thankfully they were able to bring her heart rate down. She was prescribed additional medications and was finally released the evening of the next day. While there were some good doctors and nurses, the few bad apples ruined the experience for us and I will never take anyone to this hospital again.

Though I will be glad to see the new hospital, there are ways that this old one has been such a big part of my life. The surgeons are amazing; the staff professional and personal. I've had experience with the maternity and cardiac units, and can honestly say that, without them, my life would not be what it is today. They care for the patients and take care of the patients' families as well. We are lucky to have this hospital nearby.

Horrible. I went in for spine surgery. Spoke with intake 2 days prior to surgery regarding all health conditions, surgery scheduled and medications. Corrections needed to be made to my chart as they had my file showing meds I haven't taken for several years. I verified my current medications, was assured the corrections had been made and got off the phone. Days later I arrive for surgery to find none of the corrections had been made. Once again I go over my meds and conditions with 2 nurses doing pre op. They assure me the corrections have been noted but require a doctor to remove them and add "new" meds. Side note: how many doctors have time to sit down at a computer and do this? They hardly have time to speak to patients. I saw my surgeon for a solid 30 seconds prior to surgery. I go into the operating room and wake up hours later in pain. They give me a shot and tell me it was a "block." I have a rare disease the staff was made fully aware of multiple times that causes complications with soft tissue and renders local type medications ineffective. Hours pass and I'm writhing in pain. I haven't had any of my normal medications since 4:30 a.m. it is now after 4p.m. and they refuse to give me anything. I have just had spine surgery. They begin arguing with me that I'm on (medications that were supposed to have been removed) not my present pain meds. Not only do I begin withdrawal, I have just had my spine drilled among other things. I begin begging for something. They hang TYLENOL I.V. I finally ask my wife to pull out my pain med bottles and show the nurse. She begins arguing about my meds. Finally reads the directions and begins trying to get them corrected. It is now 1 a.m. the pharmacist steps in and corrects my medications with a catch. They administer the meds late, add 2 hours to the interval, normally 4 hours making it now 6 hours and tell me to tough it out as if I'm an addict trying to get a fix, not someone who just had SPINE SURGERY. So I have gone almost 24 hours, no regular meds. I have had it. They discharge me the following day having refused to control my pain. Refusing to administer additional meds. The charge nurse tells me this keeps happening to spine patients. I'm not the only one. Yet they refuse to do ANYTHING to correct the issue. I would avoid this hospital at all costs. I sincerely hope this does not happen to anyone else.

Edit: complaint filed. Absolutely no resolution. They literally told me it's handled "in house" and they WOULD NOT notify me of any resolution. I guess the only option is an attorney. What a despicable organization.

Everyone so far has been wonderful. New hospital, private rooms, clean everywhere and everything. The bathrooms were spotless. The cafeteria on the below ground floor had a very affordable lunch menu. Even the parking was surprisingly hassle free. Dinner had less options but that is OK (pictures). I hope the wife and the newborn get their rest and soon we will be free to go home.

Disclosure: I am using my mom's computer but I am the patient, not Christine Evans. My name is Brianne Knaus.

I gave birth there and just a short and sweet review to let them know I really appreciate the staff and nurses there. I really like how they operate their business and help their patients. Tracy was my delivery nurse and I forgot the Dr.'s name (asian one) but he was nice too! I had a painful labor before the epidural but they were really kind and helped me as much as they could. They were quick to get me into triage and then my delivery room and my epidural. Thank you for being great! I think they really try hard to make your labor and delivery special :)

They hauled me in last year in August...one woman told me fill this up with blood or I mean piss or something, I was just thinking to myself, wow she lost her job...some stupid blonde; I filled the bucket all the way up to the top. They wouldn't tend to my wounds, instead, they just injected me with something in my left thigh not telling me what....didn't even try to tell me what they were injecting. And then, sat there for a whole day not knowing what was up, wouldn't even say - they just kept a close eye - someone at this hospital, or several, stole something I came in with, out of a bag, an Mp3 player, my amulet I bought when I was far away, was a carved jet crow with quartz on the bottom, very rare, but as they say what is lost comes back to you somehow. I wonder what befell the ppl who stole it, being that it was the last trip me and my mother took when she lived when I bought it; they stole my ray ban sunglasses too, bout 100 or so dollars right there, a cell phone who's number I had to shut down cuz of these bastages in this hospital. I would call them when I couldn't get around so easily, to get my stuff back, was having some pain after this, they kept beatin around the bush and wouldn't call me bout anything. I had to call many multitudes of times to this place. Eventually the one guy 'Steven' told me he'd give me some cash from the lost and found dept, just because he "felt sorry" for me..hah...considering he shoulda been more upfront to begin with, and paid up anyways, and for more than he "dealed" and "bargained" for, knowing all my possessions there were stolen anyways, they kept switching lines too, when I'd call and ask - one operator hanged me up maybe twice, very cold ppl in there. Almost inhuman I'd say. I'd have to say maybe more than one person was involved, but they did very little to track my stuff down, and when it came to it, they only paid me 200$ when it shoulda been more like 500, and for what they stole, how rare it was and how precious it was to me, the time it took and everything else -- thousands. And the only reason this guy even bothered to give me any damn remuneration was because he "felt sorry" - disgusting ppl. They wouldn't do a damn thing either, tried to track it thru the ambulance, don't think they did though, that they have a lot of companies or some such thing that handles that, but they were not even involved most likely, doubt my stuff even was able to board that vehicle, what was in my bag. I still want all of that back, but some things are irreplaceable, and I doubt they'd pay me another 200 since that's what it really would have added up to at least. Leeching vulturistic kick-you-when-you're-down greedy uncompassionate indecent animal bastages. You've read the reviews - go to Mercy San Juan, it's the better hospital in Sacramento.

The Cancer center has been great treating my dad. The entire staff, which is a lot of people, is always friendly and they actually remember all their patients names and care ab them. A lot of these people complaining about ER waiting room times must not have a clue how ERs work. If you're not life threatening issue you're at the back of the line. Also the fact is sometimes it's going to busier than others. Part of that problem is people want to use the ER for everything instead of a regular doctor or urgent care. Some people just love to complain and can't be pleased I guess.

I work for Sutter. 36 weeks pregnant. My husband had to stay on the 5th floor post surgery. When my husband asked charge nurse Larry to accommodate us to a room that didn t have an older patient snoring loud, Larry wouldn t budge. Though he did have couple rooms available. I had to go back home at 1am so I can get some rest just to get back up at 6am for work. Zero compassion to a patient who just had surgery whose 36 week pregnant wife wanted to stay the night to take care of her husband who was in a lot of pain. ZERO stars for Larry charge nurse on the 5th floor from the Orthopaedic Dept.
