Must try cheese the preire cheese we almost had the whole place to ourselves beautiful time
Always a nice place to go to get sway from our fast paced lives. Having a good glass of wine in their restored barn is a wonderful experience.
Love this place, best local wine in terms of quality. I wish they were open late. Terrific #Purcellville vineyard!
My favorite winery in VA. The sunset red is a great drinking wine, all are very tasty. Beautiful grounds and summers weekends are a blast!
Great location with relaxing view. Excellent wine selection and very helpful staff.
Arrived on a Saturday afternoon. There was plenty of space and everyone was spread out. I felt safe and the staff was very friendly. The wine was delicious. We tried the sunset red and white. Would definitely go back and recommend going!
Absolutely the best place ever! All the staff are amazing and knowledgeable! Thank you for the tour! Learned more in a few hours here than we have at any other winery!
It was our first time there and we were very impressed with Kim's knowledge of the wines and her hospitality. Exceptional. She made us feel very welcome. I bought several bottles of the Cab Franc, which is probably surpassed by a few others I tasted elsewhere, but it was really good. The four of us enjoyed a glass of wine out on the deck with a cheese plate with a great view in some nice weather. My friend & his wife are members and I'm really glad they took us there. I would like to go back.
The entire staff was super friendly and very accommodating to our family, while still being respectful of covid. They had a wonderful quilt decoration event for covid victims and the ownership was so kind to allow our children to participate. It was a perfect afternoon.
was good but it's a little pricey. $100 charge if 8 people or in group
First visit impressed us so much we joined their wine club. Excellent wines outstanding setting. Worth the stop and a must if you are in the area or just passing through.
Inside was crowded, no place to have a tasting so we had to go to outside tasting. White Sangria was good, red....tasted like red wine only. On a sunny day it would have been even nicer!
I moved away from Purcellville to Florida in 2014, but everytime I visit, I come to this winery! Every time I'm impressed with the quality wines, amazing cows, ample space, and impressive interior. It's establishments like this that make me really miss Purcellville!
Husband and I walked into the tasting room to discover a members only wine club event in full swing. It was not announced beforehand on the winery's website. We thought we'd be asked to leave. However, an employee welcomed us, and another (Lisa) conducted a tasting just for us. We were not rushed through the tasting. The wines were quite good, especially the Sunset Red, Rose, and Cabernet Franc. We'd like to return when we're able to spend more time at this very interesting winery.
The place is pretty however when we walked in I was asked how many in my party. I had 7 in my party ( I told the lady we didn't have to have reservations according to the website) The charge extra for parties of 8... which doesn't seem right. I can see making a reservation for more than 8. I was also asked if that was my van that we pulled up in. WHAT does that matter that we all came in a van. We are being RESPONSIBLE adults and the fact that I had a friend drive us shouldn't make a difference.
Excellent wines although a noisy indoor (but fun) atmosphere. Part of the issue might have been the rain keeping everyone inside and perhaps the outdoor sections are lovely. We will be going back for the wines which were excellent.
I went for a wine tasting when my parents were visiting. The wine was really delicious and the person conducting our wine tasting was extremely knowledgeable and personable. Would highly recommend giving it a try!
Put a fire place in it and it gets a 5!! Very nice winery!
I'm a long-time club member - that should tell you!
We had a fantastic time at a surprise Birthday party for Susana Kerstein on Sunday. Staff was great as was the wine with family and friends from all around the U.S. (as far away as the Left Coast).
Great location with some fun architecture and views. Looks great for any type of party or to visit on your own. Pairs with food trucks and they give back to the community. Real quality operation. And the wine is good too!
Wonderful place, I loved that there's so many places to hang out and get a tasting. Staff are also very friendly and knowledgeable on the wines. Will definitely return.
Excellent wine cellar!
High quality.
Enjoyed a lovely afternoon with all the appropriate safety measures in place, appreciate the staff and all their hard work!
Beautiful property; awful wines. Don't believe me? Come try it. Just try to stand near the dump jar. Another positive is that you won't be spending any money to buy anything after your done with your tasting, if you can even palate the last couple of wines (if you can even call them wines). Very disappointed after reading so many great reviews of their wine. If you are a Kool Aid fan, this is the place for you.
Staple winery for us. Nice grounds, great indoor seating, romantic.
Delicious wine, terrific entertainment by Tyme & Lace. Erin Lombardi, we missed seeing you!
Did a tasting and a tour of the winery with one of the owners. Everyone was very nice and the wines were good. Even had live music.
We opened a bottle of the 2010 Cabernet Franc tonight and it was amazing! Kudos to the winery and winemaker. Only wish I had another bottle of this vintage. Really held up well.
We had an amazing time at Sunset Hills. Lindsay was fun & extremely informative. She took her time to go over their amazing wines and made us feel so welcome during a busy Saturday. The vineyard is stunning, and we had impeccable customer service. The whole experience was perfection. We loved every wine we tried, their winemaker Corry makes wonderful wines. Thank you to Lindsay and Brigette for making us feel so at home!!
Great staff, atmosphere is awesome, with great friends.
Absolutely horrible service. This is not just from management, this is management. There are plenty of places you can be treated like crap. Go there instead of them.
Great stop. Don t miss. Lindsay s last day. She will be missed. Great wine and atmosphere.
Great wine, great views, great venue, friendly and helpful staff. What else could you ask for?
.Nice farm and facillities. Few prices shown on merchandise. One staffer spoke to us on arrival, but that was it. The place seemed like a private club and we definitely not members.
Dog friendly (outside). Lots of picnic tables and seating.
Sunset Hills has the best wines of any Virginia winery, and it is close to Leesburg. The people are friendly, and the staff is great. They have frequent entertainment and events.
One of my favorite winery's of all time plus it's beautiful at Christmas. The staff is friendly and knowledgable. The are the best of the best.
Love the wine, food and ambiance. The owner is very friendly, and, holds wonderful pickup parties!
Compared to other vineyards in the area, their $15 tasting pours were less than a sip. The wine was average for the area. And don t try and get a glass of wine a minute past last call..literally one minute. With all the other choices in the area I will not be going back.
This was my experience yesterday with Sunset Hills Vineyard. If you are planning a special event DO NOT GO HERE. I sent this email to the owners and received no response. I was told by my limo company that they are NOTORIOUSLY UNFRIENDLY to any type of limo tours, so do not believe their website!
Dear Diane and Mike Canney,
I would like to express to you my EXTREME disapointment at the way my family was treated by your facility. We have often been to Sunset Hills and it was our first choice to bring our family to celebrate our youngest daughter's 21st birthday. My eldest daughter has been a wine club member in the past, and we have enjoyed many of your offerings. I verified before booking our limo transportation one month ago and was told that this date, today, June 2nd 2013 was fine for our family of 9 to come and that the limo was no problem. My eldest daughter verified this information AGAIN on Thursday May 30, 2013. Today I called before our limo pickup time to see if it was possible to reserve a table inside. I was told by your manager MEREDITH that we were unwelcome. I was told that our limo could not enter your property (and by the way, RESTON LIMO is the one recommended on your website. I was also told that you were having an event for 200 people (this was not told to us in any other communication if it had been I would have made plans elsewhere.) I was never told of your limo restriction. When the dispatcher from Reston Limo called your facility, we were told that we would be "drunk checked" and that we would not be let on your property if we had been determined "drunk". We were 7 adults all either in the military or medical professionals. We had our 21 year old daughter and her best friend with us. YOU DETERMINED THAT WE WERE A BUNCH OF DRUNKS out to make trouble for your winery without asking any questions. This was rude and incredibly insulting. Do you really think a Col. in the Army and an intensive care physician at Fairfax Hospital were out to be DRUNK? I think your staff has a prejudged prejudice based on the word "limo" and equates that with DRUNK BUS. For us, a limo was a fun treat and eliminated taking three cars. We could all talk and laugh together. Our intention was to have the wine tasting and then cake and go home. How dare you treat us like alcoholic idiots. As I said we are all in the military (GO ARMY) or medical professionals. We have a lot of friends who like wine. They will ALL know of this awful experience that almost ruined a fun celebratory day. My husband and I have owned a business for 22 years and I know that as a business owner I would fire someone on the spot who treated us that way we were handled throughout the month long process of contacts at your winery. I do understand the financial equation....200 paying guests deserve your full attention. If that would have been told to me upfront at the beginning of my contacts with you, I would have completely understood. Instead on the day of my little (albeit a 1K day for me)event I had to scramble. My daughter goes to VT with XXXXX, so I was able to make a quick call and lean on a friend to save the day for us. They were kind, gracious and polite to us at the very last minute. That cannot be said of your facility. This was a terribly stressful and insulting experience and I would hope that you take away from my comments how offensive our treatment was and retrain your employees to be more informed and sensitive. I must fault Reston Limo too, as they had our itinerary a month ago and never told us that you do not allow limos on the weekend. I shall take that issue up with them separately. If you wish to discuss this matter I would me most happy to.
I was not happy that I could not try the cab franc, sauv, Merlot or Petit verdot. All the wines for the tasting was there general offerings which were decent. I am willing to pay for the others but would like to taste first or even buy a glass. We bought wines from many vineyards but unfortunately none from here because I could not try them.
Beautiful grounds. Lots of outdoor seating for social distancing.
The best winery in the area, staff always very good and attentive. The grounds awesome. We are there almost every weekend
Lovely time on a Tuesday! Beautiful location and delicious wines!
We had our wedding and reception on 6/8/2013. We were so Blessed by the staff of Sunset Hills Winery. The facility and grounds were absolutely beautiful; however, it was the graciousness, courteousness and professionalism of the staff that made the wedding and reception so easy and enjoyable. The service was fantastic! So often the staff was there assisting and providing for us during the entire wedding and reception without interupting the ceremony at all. There was NEVER at time we were lacking ANYTHING! Thanks again! We couldn't have picked a better place.
THANKS SUNSET HILLS!!!
My wife and I had a wonderful time enjoying wine tasting enhanced by a friendly informative staff. A must visit!
Wow! Very nice place and excellent wines. We went for a new release tasting... 2017 Chardonnay and a Table Red. Both were great. We were impressed with the buildings and layout too. You should definitely try it.
We came with a group of 25 people and the owner took us on a personalized tour of the property! The wine was fabulous and the grounds were beautiful. Highly recommend!
Great scenery and the inside looks fantastic and will come back for sure.
Great wine, cheeses and bread. No more slushies as of Summer 2018.
Live music on the weekends, nice outdoor seating.
Excellent Chardonnay, the tasting room is fabulous! Much better than we expected beautiful landscape and grounds are fabulous
An excellent winery with a beautiful tasting barn. Many items on the tasting menu, including a nice Port-styled wine. The folks all know their wines, explain them well and are very kind.
Always great sitting outside on the lawn. Just no food yet
Oh boy... I ve got a 2016 Cabernet Franc and was amazing. Great place with a breathtaking sunset view. Customer service was very helpful in answering questions. I strongly recommend.
The Stone Library is a great new addition for members.
Awesome venue, amazing staff, great selection, and I will definitely be going back again sometime soon. Ask for Jess -- who is the employee of the month!
Beautiful facility, knowledgeable staff and great wines! Brian and Jeremy were attentive and very helpful. The music was also fabulous!
My husband and I are continually impressed with this winery. From stellar and informative tastings to cozy and comfy atmosphere this winery is not to be missed on Loudoun County. Learn about the area wine, enjoy some local fares, and settle in for a relaxing day with a glass wine. You can't go wrong with a white or red. I especially love the
Viognier and Cabernet Franc. But the Petit Verdot and Tannat are not to be missed.
The best winery in Loudoun county, hands down, been members for years, love this place, cool old barn, great atmosphere, always top notch musicians and the best wine, what else you be needing...
We went to this winery this week. Absolute impressed with the setting, kindness of the staff, and tasting. We met the owner who was so friendly - described the history of the building and the stained glass window that hangs in the tasting room. We will definitely go back to enjoy the location, wine offerings, and the staff! If you have not been to this winery, it is a must when you visit wineries in Loudon County! To the owner and staff at Sunset, thank you for helping to make our visit a memorable one! See you soon!
Great outdoor area with tables and chairs, and allows outdoor food
Great place and the grounds offer plenty of room for social distancing.
Nice vineyard and a place to relax. However, they only have one dessert wine and it 35$/bottle. The bottle is tiny and they do not serve it by glass. You would have to buy a bottle and have them serve it in a glass. At 17.50$ per glass its not worth it. Overall pretty pricey place.
Love this place! Kelsey was amazing! We are from PA but visit the area a lot and this is our favorite winery now. We walked in not expecting the 5 star experience we recieved. Incredible customer service. Every wine we tasted was EXCELLENT. Kelsey hooked us up and we became club members on the spot even though we are from out of town. I will be looking forward to my two bottles in the mail every other month!
Thank you Sunset Hills Vineyard and staff, for a perfect (despite Covid safety protocols) sunny Fall day with friends, wine, picnic goods, firepit, laughter, live music, charity efforts, and more wine!
Great atmosphere. Love the tasting area. Wines are good too
Sunsethills is a beautiful place to enjoy some first class wine. The employees are friendly and knowledgeable. Not to mention the gorgeous sunsets.
Probably the best winery in Loudoun county. Excellent wine, amazing venue, and top notch food. My favorite place to spend an afternoon. Need more proof? I became a member. You will as well.
