The decor is not to my liking so I took off a star but the food is delicious. I can't recall if it was pumpkin chowder or butternut squash soup but it was probably one of the best soups I've ever had in my entire life. I could drink that stuff by the gallon.

The quality of the food is great; the servers are good; the ambiance is like being in a small town high school gym; parking is more than adequate. But the PRICING is way out of proportion. I ve been there over twenty times in the past two years and every time, I leave thinking I spent too much money for what I got. I guess they think they have a monopoly on that segment of the market and thusly think they can get away with it. They seem to be getting away with it, but it certainly doesn t leave me with a good feeling.
I should also mention that their wine list is very limited and over populated with pedestrian, cheap wine at grossly inflated prices.
It s too bad, because they re so handy for us.

My wife and I stopped here on our honeymoon and the food was good, but entirely overpriced. My wife ordered a lobster and when she had questions the staff didn't seem to know the answer and gave us misleading information. The steak I ordered was good, but I barely got 4 bites from it, before it was devoured. The location and atmosphere is lovely here and is located in a good part of Boston.

Sirloin tips were not likely sirloin tips and too tough to eat...within an hour or so. My jaw was definitely tired from excessive chewing!

The chewed up attempt remained on the plate and the manager offered a 10% discount.

Anywhere else.

This is a convenient location just steps from alewife station. Even though it is not much to look at from the outside, the vibe on the inside is actually nice and a good option for a date night. I personally don't eat seafood so when we come here I only have a few choices because the menu is seafood heavy but at least their burger is good. My boyfriend enjoys their fish and chips. It is a bit pricey so be wary of that, looking at the prices of the lobsters on the board makes me wince!

Really good sea food place, my second favorite I've ever been to even. I had "Boston's best Lobster Roll" and it really was Boston's best. Our waitress was super nice and proactive. We had a baby, and she was kind enough to clean up the mess the baby made and grab extra food for it. Top tier service if I've ever seen it. Everyone was happy with their food, which is not always the case with sea food :). Would definitely recommend.

Great summer shack atmosphere including cameo appearances by artifacts from the old Aku Aku. If you don't like fish there isn't much for you. Reasonable prices for the quality of the food.

LITERALLY. So that made up for the cost of my meal alone, then had around like 14 shrimp cocktail on top of the beautiful spread of smoked salmon, pate, cheeses, salads and typical breakfast food that they had. Oh, and don't let me forget about dessert. The bread pudding was FANTASTIC.

This place is awsome but pricey. I had a stein of ipswich ipa and shared an aqu scorpion bowl. That's it for booze. We ate, topsirloin, cheeseburger, 2 orders buffalo wings, 1 crab cake, 4 shrimp cocktail, steamers, little necks, and 2-2lb baked stuff lobsters. The bill was 335.00 for 4 pp.

Spacious with great service and food. Pictured is the veggie burger. I think it's a black bean patty which I'm a huge fan of, but it was good as far as those go. The homemade potato chips are great, and I highly recommend the sweet potato fries. If you get the fried onion strings, I suggest sharing, because it's very oily and monotonous, so I found it hard to finish, but they are tasty.

Criminal Organization

I went to this place and made an order. It was never delivered I decided to leave and paid my bill. They sent out a couple of "muscles" to intimidate me. If you want to deal with a criminal organization this it it.

I have been coming to Summer Shack again and again over the past 10 years. With a large group, with family, friends. Even by myself.
My overall conclusion - the place is solid. It had its ups and downs, but overall consistently good.
Expensive? Kind of. But what is cheap these days in Bean Town.
I would give the place 5 stars, but it is still a Shack. Don't expect Menton service.
What I consistently liked? Stuffed lobster (pricey!), fresh oysters, Bermuda Fish Soup. Last Monday I tried clam linguini and it was excellent! Still, it's $38 for lunch without beer. So be ready!

Food was OK but not stellar. Lobster roll was very bland to my tastes. The places was very crowded and noisy but, to be fair, it was a Saturday evening when many people go out for dinner. The restaurant isn t bad, it just wasn t what I was expecting of a restaurant at that price point. I ve had better lobster at small establishments along the coast north of here.

Great seafood right at the end of route 2 next to alewife. Large bar area with a large selection of beer and cocktails. They have a nice fresh raw bar and always a few fresh seafood specials.
