Great time was had by all. Picked strawberries. all together great fun for all ages.
Great time was had by all. Picked strawberries. all together great fun for all ages.
We had an amazing time picking our own strawberries! We stopped by after leaving Legoland and it was the perfect way to end our trip! The staff was polite, price wasn't unreasonable in my opinion I figure you're paying more for the experience rather than the strawberries so I wouldn't say it's overpriced. We are going home with gorgeous California strawberries.
Great experience for the whole family ! Definitely need shoes definitely something to do every year !
This was my first experience at Strawberry picking and I loved it. You get a big bucket and admission for 2 for $22. Strawberries were perfect and ripe. I m definitely going back every season.
I hate to say I wasn't impressed. Im not sure if its because I came early in the event, but it felt and looked unfinished. No food vendors, no games, other than small little things. And there were employees still building things. I drove a long way and im sorry to say it wasn't worth the drive. Like I said maybe its because I came early, but don't plan on returning again.
To experience picking endless strawberries with my daughter is beyond a sweet memory
We showed up an hour prior to closing to pick up a few flats of berries and the gates were already closed. The workers said they ran out of strawberries but they d be open tomorrow.
How do you run out of strawberries but more will be available tomorrow?!
Not happy!
It s good place to have fun activities with your kids pick up some good strawberry but I would say prices are too high for a not so big bucket is 20bucks. It s just not reasonable at all but I guess because it s Carlsbad and it s most rich people live there they make it this expensive.
Went with my daughter and nieces who are all under the age of 10 and they would not let us all go in together regardless of the fact we were all a part of the same party. Terrible service. Overpriced. Overall not a great experience, extremely disappointed. Would not recommend for big families, or in general, due to its lack of customer service skills and ridiculous pricing.
This is a great place to get fresh picked strawberries.
So disappointing nothing for 2 yr old to do. Left after paying to get in!!
Pick your own strawberries (you can buy direct as well) is amazing. Dont know what took me so long to do so. My kids had a blast!! Best 20.00 for the 3 of us I have spent in a long time.
Pick your own strawberries. Just like the good old days.
It was a fun experience at the end of the day but even after looking through several fields, all of the good berries were taken since they sell them in bulk. Most of the ones left were super small, half eaten by mice or had worms.
Was a hit with the kids I watch. Signs telling you where parking is better would be nice. But the fruit was great
Very lovely experiences. My kids got crazy eating fresh and sweet strawberries. Some people may find this a little bit pricey considering that you have to pay a ticket (10 small bucket include one ticket, 20$ for big bucket includes 2 tickets) but I don't regret it and I would do it again. My kids really love it and I did too.
We visit every year. Always enjoy picking strawberries!
Great fun to pick, eat as u go.
How can anybody go wrong...
Cool place to visit. Just a tad on the the expensive side but worth the memories we made
Website says closed at 6pm. Drove from santee. Arrived at 530pm and was denied entry. My 5 year old was heartbroken. Sobbing. The employees had no compassion. Very disappointed and will not return. Great strawberries but that experience killed it.
What a great opportunity to spend some time and cheer with those you love. Year round with different activities. Halloween is syill our favorite for the pumpkin patch
Fun picking your own strawberries it is expensive though
Price is quite high. If you're just buying strawberries, you'll be better of buying from the produce section of a grocery. For tourists though who like to try and experience picking strawberries, and those people who prefer fresher ones, it's worth going here.
Well hello everyone I'm back exploring with my beautiful goddaughter Avaya again as the world starts opening up after the covid 19 lock down. I hope this finds everyone happy and healthy.
Well today Avaya wanted to check out a strawberry farm so we wound up at the Carlsbad strawberry farm. I thought it was a bit pricey to get in when what they consider a bucket is more like an extra large yogurt container, but let me tell you we did have fun. At one point Avaya's hands were stained red from all the strawberry juice leaking from these gorgeous strawberries.
We spent about an hour going up and down different rows and picking or own strawberries. Would I do it again, probably not. I do believe that everyone should have the experience at least once. We did, as always have fun and came away with some great strawberries and even more beautiful memories. Till next time keep the faith and keep exploring and making memories.
Wow! This place is so cool!! I had read the posted information about bringing an extra pair of shoes, but it wasn t necessary. The strawberries were EVERYWHERE!! It wasn t crowded and the temperature was perfect. It s not hard to find, the signs are well posted. My best advice for picking? Bend down and smell the strawberry. If you can smell it strongly, it s ripe. We NAILED the most ripe and juicy strawberries looking under the leaves and not just for what was hanging down. FYI there are port a potties there WITH toilet paper!! It was a really great time.
Thankfully the fields remain open for picking. It gave us a fun thing to do while things to do are still harder to come by. It was pricey...$22 for a large bucket (includes 2 admissions). Otherwise you have to pay $5 just to enter. There were 5 of us so we got two large buckets. The fields were muddy is spots but the berries were plentiful. Quite a few families were enjoying the fields on a Monday. Parking lot is dirt. They do have some handicapped spots. They have portolets. Now we need a bunch of strawberry recipes!!!
2 out of 3of the red strawberries you grab to pick are ate and soft from bugs and not being tended to. The strawberries you do pick that aren't soft or rotten are tiny. This place needs to tend to their strawberries.
Awesome, short excursion. Expect to spend 30+ min here.
1. Free plentiful parking and right off highway 5, super easy to find
2. Go early between 9-10am on weekend, not too crowded and still tons of strawberries (I always dread making the drive to a Upick only to find long lines and a picked through field of whatever and it doesn't feel worth it...but this one was not inconvenient or sparse, def worth it).
3. As you can see from pics there is PLENTY of space here...this place is huge and we were never that close to anyone and if someone started getting close, you can step over a row or two to branch out. Go right for the back first and work your way in.
4. Wear shoes you can get mud on and bring change shoes in car...my sneakers were caked with mud and I regret not having some flip flops to change into. Sure this could be avoided if you only walk carefully in dry areas in rows but when your eye is on the prize and you see those red berries, you wont notice when your dry path suddenly has a muddy part
5. Strawberry quality -a mix of sweet and tart, like the best of what I could get a grocery store with a few super perfect sweet standouts. These have never been refrigerated and I recommend you do not rinse your whole bucket with water at the end! Keep them dry, separate them at home into Ready to eat and Let ripen piles (keep out of fridge). Keep them dry to ripen without getting moldy.
6. In addition to strawberries (either the Upick or cheaper, prepicked) you can buy Holland milk, corn, zucchini avocado tomato and flowers at a small stand
There are no restrooms but lots of porta potties with the pump water and soap.
Terrible, not answering phone. They weren't even opened in opened hours. Whole family is very upset...
Big fresh berries, you get what you pay for. Not cheap, but worth the money.
The best strawberries! They are always fresh and sweet. You get to pick the strawberries right in the fields or purchase some that are packaged. Coming here in the fall is just as fun since they ll have a pumpkin patch and corn maze.
$20 for a big bucket with 2 passes to strawberry field
Family fun. If you havent done it, then go for it. I've done it a few times and just enjoy the view and strawberries.
We grabbed a couple of big buckets and went to work in the fields.
The fruit was delicious. I had some with my breakfast the next morning.
Sweeeeeeet.
Don t waste your money going here . Way to expensive . You can t take your purse inside this place so You have to leave it in the car . I wonder how many purses go missing since everyone leaves purses with money and credit cards in their car . If you do go , get the small container just so you see what I m talking about.
Will never come back here !
So beautiful to come out here and relax and pick your tub of strawberry's..what and awsome view and great tan I am working on..Yes my dear friends it's that time of the year to come out and have some fun along all the gorgeous trails, that our sunny paradise California has..please follow all covid 19 guidelines for your safety..use your face mask and social distancing..keeping our gorgeous State safe for everyone.thank you my dear friends and travelers for viewing....D Third Eye
Love the fields of strawberrys, however the price is kinda a buzz kill. $20 for a large bukkit and 2 tickets. And $5 for each additional tickets to enter.
This place is unique for a few different reasons.
Pros:
They have the rows raised so you don't have to bend over as far to pick fruit.
The plants are separated from the dirt by plastic sheeting, which means the fruit is relatively clean (and they conserve water because the water lines run under the plastic).
Even though it was very busy when we went, we didn't have to wait long to park and start picking.
Cons:
I've been doing "U pick it" my whole life and I've never had to pay just to get on to the farm. In the case of this place, it's cheaper to just pick up fresh fruit from the farmers market or grocery store.
In summary: It's a fun experience for the kids if you don't care too much about overpaying for fruit.
Just ok. They're prices seem a bit high for what they offer. Pumpkin patch wasn't all that exciting, but it was ok. It is fairly expensive to pick strawberries here during the season.
The military appreciation night was nice (free pumpkin!) But overall, pumpkins were a bit pricey.
We have been coming for many years and this year have instituted policies that include roping off the area and having "guards" at the entrance collecting tickets. The tickets are issued based on the number of buckets bought. Purchasing a small bucket at 10.00 equals one ticket and purchasing a large bucket for 20.00 equals two tickets. As many others have stated their bucket picking rules are absolutely insane. We have 3 young children and they would only let 2 people pick and fill a huge bucket for $20.00. REALLY???? Our family certainly doesn't need $40.00+ dollars in strawberries!!! They let our 3 young children in but wouldn't let myself or husband because we didn't have a ticket! We even told them we weren't going to pick, only the children would, but that was a no go. We will not be returning again. They managed to take an fun family experience and try to gouge every customer!
A little overpriced but great strawberries if you go early season.
$10 per person....
Small bucket = $10 = 1 person
Large bucket = $20 = 2 people
I came with my mom and my sister....but we don't need THAT many strawberries. The rules and pricing was ridiculous. I wanted all 3 of us to go strawberry picking. It ended up being my mom and I only due to the crazy rates. That would be TOO many strawberries we would have to eat later. I guess you pay for the experience. The strawberries were not sweet but they were not sour. I won't be back.
We arrived 10 mintues before 9am when they open and people were already in line. 10 bucks for a bucket that fits about 20-30 strawberries. Don't wear sandals because it's all dirt path and some areas are muddy. Stroller friendly around the perimeter but you can't actually push it into the rows as they aren't that wide. Great experience for my 12 and 6 year old! Diamonds and handwashing stations are everywhere also.
Very sweet strawberries, not cheap, but it tastes andsmells like a real berry.
Plenty of space to pick strawberries! Strawberries are huge and ripe. Staff is friendly and buckets are good size, they do have the option to pick your own or take freshly picked pans.
It doesn't have a lot. The only good thing we're the fresh water and the kernel popcorn.
Nothing special but the experience, prices are 2 years and under are free, $5 for entry without a bucket and $10 for entry with a bucket, free parking, and don't wear any white
So much fun! Strawberries were delicious. We took a toddler and she had a blast. I will definitely be back. I had never been before and it was a much larger area than I expected. Additional items: they had port-a-potties, water for rinsing strawberries, and handwashing stations available. Everyone was pretty respectful of socially distancing and wearing masks.
Fun place for kids to get pumpkins. They also had awesome apple shooters!
Great family outing, strawberries are delicious. Lots of fun for kids of All ages
I was really enjoy picking strawberries here you can buy $20 and below, strawberries is sweets and juicy.perfect for family bonding your kids gonna love it
We had the best time and was our first time. Three generation of ladies gma daughter and granddaughter!
It was a wonderful experience. The team there was friendly, fun, and very informative. The berries were juicy and sweet. Great for families with little ones.
Nice corn maze and picture opportunity for the kids. Good variety of pumpkins too!
It very fun i love Jimmy who owns the strawberry fields, pumpkin patch is really Von with the corn maZe and field of screams
The price is high ....yes. But the strawberries are So Worth it!!! They re Delicious I used to live in Carlsbad and I live in Chula Vista now, and I drive to North Country, just to get those Delicious Strawberries!!
First off the Strawberries taste amazing.
Now the bad news its $10 for entrance and a cup to put picked strawberries. $5 just to enter and walk around a strawberry field. You can skip the experience and just buy twice the strawberries you could pick and put in the basket for $15 next to the entrance
The experience, well it was kinda fun hunting for the best strawberries like an Easter egg hunt. You have to walk through mud and puddles alot, and tons of bugs, and bees about so keep that in mind. Great spot for portraits, baby pics, and really small kids as kids under 5 are free and they have alot of fun.
Final review, way overpriced to experience what its like to be a paid migrant worker picking strawberries. Fruit is really good but you are paying actual money to do a job normally others are paid to do.but you do get to keep some strawberries.
A nice experience in picking strawberries .. but you need mud shoes
You HAVE to go to their corn maze! Best one ever, my boys LOVED it!
Nice setup! Plenty of food vendors and activities for kids. The Maze is a good size and you will actually get lost (unless you use map). Be prepared for large crowds and lines, but they go pretty quick. Time goes by quick and the kids enjoyed the 4 hours there. Kids under 5 free for admission and maze! No military discount.
The family had fun at the field. It is really huge and the price was reasonable. We went early right when they opened and found a good parking spot and rarely ran into people at the field.
Loved plucking strawberries .... My son enjoyed a lot
So much fun and great tasting berries. Beautiful views
Had a great experience. The maze was fun and challenging.
We loved a magnificent place to collect delicious strawberries
My second year in a row coming to their pumpkin patch. I love it!! Got these 3 pumpkins for my place before I left. I went the opening weekend and all staff were very nice and there was more than enough space to maintain social distancing.
No purses allowed only to some people. Rule not enforced on everyone.
A fun experience picking berries with the family. Friendly service, DELICIOUS strawberries. Kids loved it.
We loved picking our own strawberries. The only reason I am giving 4 stars, I was not impressed with the strawberries.
