Four stars, not five, because the menu is overpriced. Other than that, a nice restaurant.

Unfortunately this is the first time I ve ever had to send food back. The plating of the fried calamari was embarrassing, it was half the plate with the sauce making it soggy. It was also overcooked and many pieces of just the breading. The service was also incredibly slow and the waitress had to be reminded several times about our drinks.

Food is always on point and beer is great. Fat dog is a tasty beer that you must try if visiting this restaurant / brewery (it is not a traditional stout).

DO NOT GO! We dined here for Father's Day 2019. We will never return. The service was slow, the food was incredibly overpriced and the management was not responsive.

We waited over an hour getting our food (we had a reservation) and people who came in 20 minutes after us were served before us. When I asked to speak with the manager he came over. He did not explain the wait other than to say the kitchen was working on it. He did not apologize or explain why others were getting served before us. He could have cared less about us - horrible customer service.

The Caesar salad was $9 for a small plate of lettuce, some cheese and a few croutons. My husband's sandwich had very little meat (we aren't even sure it was brisket) and maybe 7 french fries. It was ridiculous.

Great place to have a nice dinner and great beer! The service was outstanding! I will definitely be going back.

We stopped by for lunch. The entire experience was bizarre. First off, the place looks like it's falling down, even some boarded up windows. I wasn't even sure we were at the correct location. Second, there was a food and drink tent at the front of the building but no seating. The seating was completely around the other side of the building. Apparently, the expectation was that you order out front, wait for your food and beverage, and carry everything yourself to the tables over 100 yards away. Once we finally understood how this was all to work, we decided to find something more convenient. My husband got the Double IPA. Not amazing, not horrible. High alcohol content but much unique flavor.

Horrible. Meal came out all wrong and our party of 6 did not all get served at the same time. Sides were cold. $31 steak was tough. Waitress did not fill drinks or even check on meal. Will not go back!

The food and beer are excellent, and pair wonderfully together. The atmosphere of the restaurant is divine, although the staff is always different, and less knowledgeable than expected. The hostess was lovely, and greeted us with a smile and quirky greeting. Mr. and Mrs. Stoudt can always been seen walking around the restaurant with a beer in hand. Will definitely be returning!

We had a group of 7. We all ordered medium rare steak and/or filet. Six ordered medium rare and one ordered medium. Two of the filets were well done and the medium was medium rare. We won t be back

I hear this place was very good and popular a couple of decades ago. It's a quiet setting with friendly people but our taste buds have evolved substantially since it's heyday. Bier is good food is edible. Do not come here to drink wine. Adamstown has a lot of potential that is yet to be discovered. No taxes do not equal prosperity and happiness.

Price does not match proportions... not sure how the bathroom sinks pass food inspections with rotting wood around the vanity.
Food was ok, decor was more interesting than average, especially if you like 20-50s political and social posters.

Amazing chef! Amazing food! I will be honest, I haven't been to Stoudts in a while because about 4 years ago, I did not like the food but when my girlfriend suggested that the food was amazing now, and we should go there, I didn't believe her. But it is! I have been there 2 times in 2 weeks already!! I can't stop. The service is impeccable. We had the best onion rings in this dipping sauce that is to die for. The salads are colorful with all fresh made dressings. The filet mignon is so tender and perfectly cooked. Words can't express it! And it comes with a potato pancake and crunchy spinach! Hello! Did somebody say crunchy spinach? It is the best Spinach I've ever had. We had this coconut dessert with a puff pastry. The chef should be commended on 2 of the top meals I've had in months and I go out to eat a lot. Perfection. Everything was delicious. My 2nd time around too! I ordered the Stoudt Burger which was incredible! Service is impeccable. They check on you! Orders are always perfect! Top notch!

We went into the oub for dinner and the service was terrible. 4 main dishes on the dinner menu with very like to choose from. The server didnt even know if they had a fish available for dinner. When drinks came it was the wrong wine, when the server took them back a 1\2 glass was poured and I was told take it or leave it. What a way to celebrate my Moms 77th birthday. Will Never recommend this establishment to anyone!

Best filet mignon I've had in a very long time. Melts in your mouth. Service was great even with party of six and three very young children.

Dingy and really strange people. Maybe we stopped at the wrong time, but it left a bad taste in our mouths.

Ate there Saturday night and it wasn't very busy. The decor was nice, but with a name like Black Angus I expected more than two cuts of steak on the menu. We started with the onion rings. The presentation was off putting; sauce was just poured on the plate and rings piled on top. Is it a brew pub or fine dining? They're somewhere in the middle, but they really ought to just pick one and do it well. I went with the Schnitzel, and I've never had meat that tough before. My son order the "hand formed" burger. The patty was enormously thick, but much smaller in diameter than the bun. The flavors were good, but it's those overlooked details that make the place just an ok place to eat, rather than a great place to eat.

Service was very slow. The waitress didn't have answers to a few menu questions. We all got our meals but no butter for the lobster . We waited 10 minutes for butter,by that time the lobster was cold. The rest of us had almost finished our meals. The manager was worthless. He never offered an apology or anything. Actually,he defended the waitress and denied we waited for the butter at all.
MISTAKES HAPPEN ..ITS HOW THEY'RE HANDLED ..

Once a romantic destination for night out turned into the most unpleasant atmosphere to attempt an anniversary dinner. For a once 4 to 5 star restaurant to allow clientel in wearing hoodies and teeshirts with obnoxious children allowed to turn the dining room into a play room and cranking up the radio to what ever POP tunes happens to be popular for a bar is no way to spend an evening on a special night. After nearly an hour of waiting since being seated for the least appetizing plates to be set in front of us was the very last straw. We didn't touch a thing and tried to subtley give the server cash for the beverages and salad and quietly depart without creating a scene however thr bus boy decided to try blocking the door as if we were attempting to skate out of a tab. The manager conversed with us briefly, apologized, took everything off of our tab and wished us a good evening yet dish boy continued to hurl accusations that we were trying to be dishonest. We will never consider returning.

Vampire republicans must run this place. The pub side of this restaurant is very dark even during the day and there is a bunch of old republican election posters/buttons on the walls. The beer is pretty good, though I ordered a smooth hoperator since the waitress told me it was hoppier than the IPA (it wasn't). My wife ordered two tasters and the glasses must have just come out of the sterilizer. They tasted like bleach. Got a six pack to go with some trouble. The cooler is right in the main path so people were walking by and getting in the way. Cooler had red filter over the light so finding the right beers was difficult. The cheese plate we ordered was kind of small but the cheese tasted great.

True brew pub. Have there own beer on tap. Raw bar. Great food . Very comfortable I keep coming back to this place if just for a beer or for a full dinner with friends. Never disappointed with the beer or food. And the bar is old school. You will love it. Tables are good and staff is great.

Interesting atmosphere, decent service & good food.

I had a great time here. the food was kind of 3 or 4 stars, but the service was quick and staff was great. beer was good. excellent people watching; a wide variety of folks were here.

Some of the best oysters available from a landlocked restaurant. They are (during months that have an "r" in the name) fantastic!

Only saving grace was the beer and mixed drink my wife had was fine. Otherwise, food ranged between mediocre and poor. Service was incredibly slow for a Monday evening. Not planning on coming back.

I went for dinner with a party of 8. The service was excellent. The waitress was attentive, personable and got everything right. Unfortunately, the entrees served to our group were inconsistent in quality and value. This may be because we were not regulars there and we did not know what to order. Anyhow, the beer is very good.

Food is reliable and comforting. The beer is what draws me back every time. And the restaurant is in front of a great antiques market.

The beer is good but if you are eating there it's better to bring your own food. Way over priced for sub par food. Forty Dollar steaks that are dried out with no taste, Seven dollar Onion Soup that tastes like burnt wood and Twelve Dollar Burgers if you want cheese there's an up charge. The place specializes in charging the patrons for anything possible surprised they did not charge for the air we breathed there during the meal. To top it off they gave a price for the Beer sampler and when we got the check it was more money. They stated the price just went up and we had to argue to get them to honor what they said. I would have had more enjoyment lighting my money on fire then eating the ashes which would probably taste like their Onion soup.

First time here and I don't think I'll return. The food was good. A few of us had beer flights and the beer was average.

It was disappointing. They used to have a different menu.

Hostess was missing. After 15 minutes I asked at the bar and was told to be patient they are busy. Finally the Hostess showed up with no apologies. We left and so did those after us. Was a terrible experience.

For the price they charge, the food should be so much better. So let's start with the fact that this is the second time my wife and I visited. The first time we both thought it was...meh, just ok, so we thought give it a second chance maybe it was just an off night. Verdict..nope! Meh it is! So let's start with the good:
1. I love that I can make reservations online or through the Resy app. Any place that I can do this at is a big thumbs up. Why all restaurants don't upgrade to POS systems that allow is is beyond me.
2. Our server was incredibly nice and attentive
3. The beer
4. The fries

Now the not so good:
1. We shared a pretzel appetizer. Basically it was a large Auntie Anne's pretzel. Ok but not worth $7
2. My side salad was tiny, wilted and had many pieces that were brown. I stopped after about a couple bites
3. I had a 6oz filet. Again not bad, I've had significantly better and for the price I was expecting more
4. The sides for the filet were... interesting. Little brown clumps of fried mashed potatoes? Not good
5. My wife had the brisket grilled cheese and her exact reaction...meh (seeing a trend?) She did not finish it and refused a take home box.
All in all this place is ok but could be great with some updates and tlc. I will look for it on a Gordon Ramsey or Robert Irvine show where it can be saved.

Thanks to the staff we had a great table and wonderful food to celebrate my mom's special birthday.

Great Beer Great Staff Great Food Great Place

Once I pulled into the parking lot, I wasn't sure that I was still in the US! It's a really neat Bavarian style building and similar feel inside. We loved sitting in the high back arm chairs at our table. Food was fantastic and creative. My sandwich in a beer bread roll was awesome. And their beer selection is broad. I got a flight and definitely enjoyed them. I'll recommend this restaurant to all my friends.

The only good thing is the beer and steak. The crab dip is rubbish, salad dressing is disgusting, cheese plate is dry.. disappointed . The deserts looked like a grave stone. I would not recommend

We came in from quite a long drive, so we were happy to walk into a brewery that serves food.
However, we stood at the host desk for at least ten minutes while many servers just walked by us without acknowledgement.
A server eventually got the host, the host looked at us as if we didn't belong, sat us and said nothing.
No server came to see if we needed water or anything.
Disappointment.

Wow. How had we not been here before? Fantastic beer and food. The largest fresh oysters I have ever had. Great burger. Loved the potato salad and spaetzle. We'll be back.

Always delicious and sophisticated fare with German influence. The beer is a quirky mix of traditional German recipes and the craft brew trends of today. Maibock beside west coast IPA. Always a great and unique experience.

Two chances-no more! First time, my wife ordered well done burger and was rewarded with a burnt, blackened patty. Second time I requested medium-rare and was rewarded with medium-well. My steak was replaced and the second attempt was perfect and delicious--of course, I ate alone because my other family members were already through eating. I expected more.

Went here tonight for dinner with my husband for our anniversary because we love German food and we had never tried here before. Well I ordered the pork schnitzel and spaetzle.. and it was horrible!! Definitely not genuine German food at all!! Had an awful taste was very salty and the spaetzle was just weird. Soo disappointed plus the fact that I paid $22 for just this dish and only ate maybe a quarter of it. Not returning here! Not worth it!!

Met here with family for father's day. No specials for the holiday as far as I could see. German theme to decor and food. it is attached to a gigantic flee market (closed on Sundays, so no review on that). Beer was good, a few of them worth re visiting from a distributor. Food was good but I may say each of the entrees we had were slightly over cooked in there own respect.

It was pretty good. All things considered. Need to open things up so these places can make some money.

The place definitely needs some cosmetic TLC (inside and out) and better lighting. Beer was good. Food was okay. Nothing memorable. Server was nice. My husband's "medium-well" steak was next to raw, so he sent it back. It was a little better when it was brought back, but still quite bloody. It was a Friday night, maybe 6 or 7pm and it was EMPTY. I remember years ago, when we'd drive past, people would be lined up in the parking lot to get in. With such a mix of online reviews, I think we'll maybe try it one more time, but if it's not great, then we won't be returning 3rd time. Seems that people either absolutely hate it, or absolutely love it. We're undecided. Will have to go back to give it a second chance, I guess.

Our server was very nice, but the food was just OK. The fat dog Stout was the star of the show.

Total disappointment. I made a reservation for two for our anniversary. I told them at the time of making the reservation that we wanted the duck. When we arrived at the restaurant we were finally seated. The waitress brought us water and we ordered two drinks. My husband ordered the duck for us. We sat there. NO bread, no salad, no crackers, no anything came our way. Finally the waitress shows up with one plate of duck and an empty plate so we could share. We said that isn't what we wanted. We each wanted an order of duck. She told us to share this plate until the other plate came out. We said no. We wanted to dine together with our own plates. We think she must have set that plate in the waitress station because when she finally returned with two plates my husband's dinner was stone cold. Now let's talk about the food. Duck is $27 per plate at Stoudts. What you get for that money is a glass of water, 5 small slivers (quarter size) of duck, 3 quarter size slivers of roast potatoes and a great big cup full of shredded carrots on top. All that for $27! I would be ashamed to bring that pathetic meal out to a table. Service was horrible, food was worse and our total bill was $78. We will never go back

If it were possible for me to give zero stars and leave a review, I would most definitely have done so.

Me, my boyfriend and his mother had arrived for a late lunch around 3:00pm and upon walking into the restaurant there was no one present near the wait here to be seated sign to welcome us. While waiting in the lobby area of the restaurant there were three waitresses in the bar area that could clearly see however they still did not care to acknowledge us. After about five minutes of standing there a hostess finally arrived to seat us; she was very awkward and unwelcoming. We were then seated in a booth where the seats were covered in a cheap stained cloth and the table cloth was just as bad. When it came time to order our food, we all decided on burgers and fries, but the waitress had told us that she had to see if the burgers were ready before confirming our orders. She confirmed that the burgers were ready to be ordered and then proceeded to take our orders. While we sat there waiting for our food we realized that it had been 45 minutes and my boyfriends mother had seen the server walking by and asked her when the food would be ready? The server did not even turn around to acknowledge her and she said I know, I am getting it in a very awful irritated tone. When the food finally arrived, the fries were underdone and also severely over done; the burgers were basically just a thick dry ball of ground meat on a stale roll.

This was an experience that I wish we did not have to endure. The food was over priced and definitely not worth the wait and the service was BEYOND poor.

If anyone is considering trying this restaurant, I would recommend that you dont even waste your time or money!

German cuisine at its best paired with beer brewed on site. The restaurant is filled with antiques and original artwork. Try the bratwurst.

My wife and I always go there when we are in the area. Food never disappointing. When ever they use local sourced increadiants. Staff is always friendly and knowledgeable

The menu is extremely limited, it takes forever to get a seat, and $40.00 for an average (at best) steak. Go somewhere else and save the money and the hassle.

Stoudts has all the ambiance you would expect to see in the Old Country and then some! The Beer! The Wine! The Cheese! and the BREAD! ARTISAN! The old adage you get what you pay for holds true! Fine Dining at it's finest.
This is my regular stop from now on! Steaks are succulent.

My dinner was exactly what I expected. The trio of sausages tasted authentic.

Service was slow, food was beyond sub-par and the prices were ridiculous for what you get. Also, the beer was warm, our waitress never came back for a refill, and the raw clams were frozen and watery. You couldn t pay me to go back.

I expected the food to be good because it was expensive and everything came out looking really good, but nothing was quite right. My daughter ordered grilled chicken and it was extremely dry/overcooked. I ordered a burger medium and it came well done. My fries would have been fantastic if they weren't cold. The server was friendly but seemed very inexperienced. (For example, an experienced server would refill water without being asked.) I ordered grilled chicken and vegetables from the children's menu and was extremely amused when the vegetable turned out to be sauteed spinach. For kids!!! Luckily my 5 year old likes spinach.
