Everything you could hope for given the price. Lots of bouldering options, auto-belay, gri-gri belay. The unisex bathroom has a urinal but didn't have a lock for the stall. Strong community feel, it seemed like a lot of the climbers knew each other.

Super friendly and helpful staff. Awesome traverse walls with a few different routes. Many fun auto belays. Great prices. Can be difficult to find parking at times and not really a fan of having cubbies right by an exit but just fine for leaving behind my flip flops.

Important notes, gri-gris only, no ATCs; color ratings, not numbers; no loose chalk. I wish I had known all that first.

I would give one of the newest staff, lexi, 5 stars, the other person working a 1, and the place/ policies get a slightly generous 3.

It was our first visit and will be our last, not the gym for us.

My wife and I have been climbing for 10 yrs, but we aren't a fan of grigris and haven't used them for years. Person doing our belay check pretty much heard that, said we weren't safe and could only boulder/ auto belay. Lexi stopped us on the way out, took the time to make sure we knew how to use the grigris, which are super easy for veteran climbers once you have 5 seconds to remember, and let us climb.

Facility doesn't have that many top rope walls without auto belay, and what they have is often too tight to use even half the ropes safely. Traverses are nice and super long, and the high ball bouldering was nice too. Definitely a bouldering emphasis.

I was a little apprehensive to go there with the bad review about the customer service, but I have to say that I had a very good experience. The gym was pretty busy but the lady at the front desk was very polite and took the time to explain us the basics. I will definitely go back!

Stopped in on a Sunday afternoon with my wife and 5 year old daughter to give the kiddo a chance to see what rock climbing is like. The gym had an easy going, friendly and family friendly vibe. Spent a few hours teaching our daughter the ropes and doing a bit of bouldering and top roping. Overall we all had a really nice time at Stoneworks. Purchased a pair of punch passes so we can get a good feel for the place and see how entertained the kiddo is with the sport. No complaints with our first visit and we are all looking forward to our next visit!

I bought Five-visit climbing punch card of this company from Groupon. I tried some other rock climbing gyms and want to find the best one for my kids. I usually brought three kids and let them play at one time using one card but punched three times. Because the deal is "Five-visit climbing punch card with gear rental included". But this Gym said one card was for one person five times. It's kind of like cheating. They highlighted the deal details:Five-visit climbing punch card with gear rental included but they didn't highlight "one person one card." Other gyms sell their coupons with clear title ......package for one or for two". If it is just five visit card it means just punch five times no mater one person or two persons. I admit I should read all of the deal page. It is a lesson. But I still don't like the way they try to fooling us to sell the tickets.

Great place for bouldering, but didn't have the opportunity to top-rope. If I recall correctly, they only allow for gris-gris belaying, and after I explained that I've been climbing for a decade with my other ATC device the instructor looked at me as if I were insane for still using one. Additionally they wouldn't allow for me to get certified on the gris-gris to belay my partner with no experience, albeit the technique is nearly the same. Oh well, I do understand it's for safety, but definitely hampered my day. Seemed like a fun place, would like to go back again if I didn't live conveniently close to other gyms in Portland.

Went here with a friend, all day use for 18 is a decent deal. Really enjoyed the auto belay walls. Couldn't do more than an hour tho, so much upper body strength needed! Was nice being able to do some of the easy courses near the floor to figure out what I was doing since this was my first time.

A great climbing gym to boulder and top rope! Friendly staff and fellow climbers. It is nice to have a good climbing gym in the Beaverton area. If you are interested in getting into bouldering or climbing this is a great place to get your start.

I always have a great time climbing at Stoneworks Rock Climbing Gym. It is not far from my place, close to anything in Beaverton or Portland, OR area. They have very fair prices! They are not the biggest gym but keep me coming back for many reasons including the Awesome staff! Upstairs is AntiGravity Equipment which has the best deals on chalk bags, shoes, harnesses, etc! Keep it Local!

Awesome place to climb and very friendly staff/coaches. Our son has been climbing here for years and has loved it since day 1 and has made life long friends and memories because of this gym.

This is my third, 5-star, review of Stoneworks. Although I live out of state now, I often think how grateful I am for Stoneworks. The community was huge here, both with adults and their teen development. They had extremely fun Boulder Joists where everyone was included. And most importantly I learned how to climb - giving me a sport I could do anywhere in the world. Consequently I m able to make friends anywhere around the world. I m just so grateful for this gym helping develop a lifelong sport for me.
Thanks Stomeworks!

Employees are inattentive and not particularly helpful. The girl with purple hair seemed more interested in flirting with a guest than renting us our equipment. And I just watched a member slip when a hold ripped out of the wall. I'm really not impressed. Maybe there are other places to climb :/

I think the 4 stars they currently have are fair. The walls and routes are thoughtful and creative, but as a business, there are drawbacks in my mind. There is this incredibly bright lamp (blindingly so) situated above one entrance to the cave that destroys your vision for a moment if you're exiting or climbing a route leading to it. I also had a negative service encounter. Most of the staff are great. They seem to tend more towards cultivating and maintaining the rugged climber's culture as opposed to having straight business excellence as a facility for a focus - which definitely isn't a negative, it's their flavor and certainly draws 'dirtbag' culture.

I ve been here at least 4 times this past month and this is a GREAT, LOCAL business! Spouse and I are thinking about joining and we loook forward to our kids climbing and bouldering with us as they grow. The owner and staff...and other climbers...are very friendly and helpful! If you re on the fence or new to climbing and bouldering, I d recommend checking this place out!

This gym is a dirtbag haven complete with janky crash pads and a single employee. With a tunnel-like boulder area you will get good practice traversing. Top ropes all have grigris which may confuse the dirtbagger used to a 20 year old ATC. The rating system is an out of order color wheel. Many autobelays for those with no friends. There's no slab so you can get jacked. If you're from out of state this is the place to buy cams due to no sales tax. The day pass was $10 and we had a great time.

Only problem with this gym is that they aren t open at desierable hours. But god damn is is a great spot to climb. Everyone is legit and they make incredible routes. Super fun vibe.
Just wish they would open up around 10 everyday so I can get my fix of climbing.
You feel like a real dirtbag there! It s the best!

Great place I can never go because the hours are interesting to say the least ......I can only climb mornings and I live next to it so I have to get a climbing membership somewhere else and drive right by a closed gym every day :( it makes me want to cry

Great place to climb! Staff & owners are all about sharing the fun of rock climbing. This is a family owned gym, not a huge chain, so it's more of a climbing community than other gyms, and it's much more family friendly than other gyms I've belonged to.

Stoneworks is the best climbing gym in town. They set great routes, have all the necessities one needs to train for climbing, and the community is filled with some of the kindest and most wonderful people I've met in Portland.

I tried all the local climbing gyms before choosing to buy a membership at Stoneworks. What really shines at this gym is 1) the creative route setting (you really have to think your way through the routes) and 2) the real sense of community. Some of the other local gyms (not naming names) seem to have a lot of members who are rude/standoff-ish.

Also, this happens to be the least expensive gym in the area, so win win.

Bonus: parking is easy and ample

I really like the gym, a lot. However, the customer service is awful. We are new to rock climbing and the guy who works the desk is really rude and can't be bothered. I don't get it. If you work at the gym (or own it) don't you want customers who come on a regular basis? I wish they were a little bit more approachable.

This place felt very dangerous to me- climbers scaling down & running into people on the ground. I've never encountered this at a climbing gym, ever. In most cases it was kids falling onto other kids but once, an adult swang right into a group of people and knocked one to the ground. I'm not sure who is at fault but it seems like many many accidents waiting to happen. Maybe the space is too small for the number of people. Maybe too many kids.

Great gym and wonderful for all levels of climbing. Very welcoming atmosphere. I, personally, am a beginner and could not be happier with starting at Stoneworks. The staff, and all the climbers, make me feel comfortable and offer tips in a non-judgemental way.

I've had nothing but good experiences with these folks - the gym is small but fun and challenging with a pretty damned awesome traverse that spans the every wall and the entire floor layout. The staff and owner, Juan, are easy going, Juan us a plethora of information and seem to always be ready to offer sound advice when asked - generally the whole crew are fantastic folks. To the reviewer that made a comment about Juan not being emotionally intelligent - I'm not sure what happened that seems to be a gross misstatement in my experience with him.

After taking a movement clinic with Juan and climbing in their gym multiple times I would highly recommend them - great great folks.

Staff was very friendly .
Great prices , has auto belays also. Really cool cave in the back . only gripe is they should clean the holds better , slimey . hard to hold onto i dont know if they just leave them up to long or what . also they dont have any numbered grades just a color system . other than that ita really cool

I don't expect world class amenities, but the owner must be the worst kind of miser. They used the backseat of a 90's minivan as a couch, and they have a bench press that Goodwill would reject.

Good prices, friendly staff. Smaller than the gym I'm used to climbing in (Vertical World in Redmond, WA).
The only issues I had were that 1) the route ratings were hard to decipher. No v# nor 5.#. Only similar color tape which was confusing. And 2) my main issue was that after I signed the waiver and paid for the day pass/rental equip they never asked if I had belayed a person or auto belayed. Just handed me the harness and said have fun. Fortunately I know who to belay, but they had no way of knowing that as they never even asked me. Seemed dangerous.

But good prices which makes it easier for someone to get into it.

I have had 2 bad experiences here now but didn't write a review until the second time. They are terrible with customer service. I brought a friend in who is newish to climbing but has only top-roped with belay bars. This person has bad anxiety and while lowering me for the first time, had what can only be described as a panic attack because of the difference in friction with the bolted hangers vs belay bars. We had been in the facility for less than 20 minutes including the 5 minutes that it took the owner to give my friend their belay test. My friend was too distraught to continue climbing so I had them go change and I went to talk to the owner. After describing the situation I asked the owner if I could get 2 return passes for another day and that I did not expect to get the few bucks back for the shoe rental. He stated that it is not their policy to give return passes. After a little back and forth between the two of us he said that he would give me a return pass and that's it. I left without getting anything because I was so pissed off. The owner has no emotional intelligence and is not a nice person to deal with. I recommend going to any climbing gym other than this one. I would give them zero stars if this let me.

It's a great place to climb. Seems good for beginners and the staff is very friendly. The biggest problem is how small it is and the price. They have great Groupon deals, but each person can only use them once. For a child $64 (with gear) is a lot to pay each month. It's great exercise and my child loves it, but I'm not sure if we can continue at that price. I'll be checking other places, maybe that's a common price. I do like supporting local though.
